Physical Description:

A beautiful man of only eighteen years, Tien Liang stands a powerful six feet tall and weighs 165-lbs. His hair, the colour of the sun, grows in wild, wavy curls down to just over his eyes, and his deep navy blue eyes often shine with a sparkle of curiosity. He has a straight nose with a strong and slightly wide ridge, full and sensuous lips, and a strong jaw. His neck is thick with muscle, as is the rest of his body, although as can be evidenced by his weight he is not overly bulky. His skin is a light bronze, and he wears light clothes that are easy to fight in.

His most distinguishing feature would have to be his birthmark; a spiral of flames emanating from his left eye as if tattooed in black ink.

Personality Description:

Tien Liang is not a very complicated fellow. While he can and does think deeply, his thought process and personality are general overridden by his driving passion; the need for strength. From his young age, he developed a power complex, a hunger for more and more power. He wants to be able to protect those close to him, or so he tells himself, and to do that absolutely he must have power that is absolute. Generally, unless you have insulted him or his family, he is friendly and willing to help, albeit he can be a little arrogant. He does not like people whom he deems as ‘bullies’, and can be quite nasty when someone is trying to take advantage of another.

History:

Tien Liang grew up in a small village in the borders of Eastern Liang province. He was a kind hearted child, until he was about five years old. When he started trying to play with the other kids and they wouldn’t play with him in return. He didn’t understand why the other kids didn’t like him, and eventually started making fun of him. He grew resentful, hateful, and vengeful towards the children who made fun of him and later his sister, and he started to fight back with his fists instead of words. He grew to be a strong street fighter, making anyone who insulted his family, especially his sister, pay dearly for what they said.

The reason the children made fun of the family was three-fold. One reason was because they were poor, with Liang being the only one bringing in money for menial labour. This brings us to the second reason, which also happened to be the reason for their poverty: Liang’s father, Tien Zuo-qian, was lame. He couldn’t move his left leg, and had very limited mobility in his right leg. His arms were weak and he had arthritis. The third reason that the children made fun of him and his family, and the most relevant (because people were used to poverty in the village), were the strange birth marks Liang bore. What looked like black inked flames bursting from and around his left eye, which scared many of the children and caused them to make nasty rumours about him.

Then came the day that everything changed. It was a fairly typical day for Liang, he was in the streets and in the middle of beating down one of the many who would insult his family. However, this time Liang had bitten off more than he could chew. There were easily a dozen children, all around his age or older, and it seemed as if Liang would be lucky to survive the encounter, let alone defeat the opponents. However, it was at this time that Liang met the lone traveler who would later hold so much sway over his life. The man, old and white bearded, stepped into the conflict and easily incapacitated all of the kids that were fighting with Liang. He took Liang to his room, he was staying in a stable nearby.

While tending to Liang’s wounds, he asked the boy why he was fighting. Liang told him it was to protect his family, because they were made fun of on his account. The old man nodded, and asked if Liang wished to come with him, leave his family without burden, and learn Kung Fu. Then, one day, Liang could return and he would have the power to protect his family from anything that these petty villagers could throw at him. Liang agreed without thought, and wrote a note to his mother, father and sister telling them that he was leaving for their own good. It was from this day on the Liang entered the apprenticeship of the man known to him only as Sifu.

Years passed, and Liang traveled and learned with his master. Liang had begun to delve into the secrets of Kung Fu, and was very much enjoying the wandering life of his master. They lived by helping those in need and collecting on favours owed to his Sifu. Liang noticed that his Sifu seemed to have his own covert mission, and tried to uncover it, but his master always told him it was not of his concern. That was, until the night that they were attacked while staying in a room above a teahouse. Assassins, and while his Sifu took care of them, he thought it unwise for Liang to stay near him anymore.

"Do not worry, Liang. I will show these corrupt men what it is like to attack the Virtuous Eagle’s nest. We will meet again."

With those words, Liang’s Sifu disappeared into the night, so fast that Liang could not follow.
