Biography: House Novarium was once a Rogue Trader's dynasty, but no more. Ravaged by the vagaries of fate, the horrors of war, and a brutal incurable virus, House Novarium's once illustrious name was worthless. They sold their Warrant for a noble title and became members of the nobility in a back-water system in the middle of nowhere.

Becoming entrenched in local politics, the Patriarch of House Novarium was a Rodrigo Novarium, father of two sons, Orthesion and Julius. Orthesion was destined for the Ecclesiarchy, while Julius was groomed to enter as the next Patriarch of his House. Orthesion never got along with Julius and both had fought duels against each other on multiple occasions.

Orthesion soon left and became studying in the Scholarum, where his aptitude soon became apparent. He could read the greatest of Imperial Literature in a matter of hours and was clearly a savant at rhetoric, history, and many other subjects. The Cardinal of this system himself grew interested in Orthesion and began teaching him when it became apparent that regular classes were too easy for Orthesion.

At the age of 19, Orthesion became a priest. His sermons were loved by the smallfolk, and the nobility found them enthralling, if a little heavy on the fire and brimstone, metaphorically speaking. On a small hive world within this backwater, the wicked roots of heresy spread like wildfire. The smallfolk rose up, getting weaponry from the PDF and began a revolt across the system. The Nobility and PDF were able to contain the Heresy on most worlds save the starting place of this. There, the Heresy was to deeply entrenched.

Orthesion, now 20, was given authority from the Cardinal to call upon the Frateris Militia and lead them into battle against the Heretics. By the saving grace and power of the God-Emperor, Orthesion was successful, slaughtering a hundred heretics by his own hand. The entirety of the smallfolk population was given the choice of repenting and spending the rest of their lives in hard labor camps, contemplating the God-Emperor's message or burn at the stake. Half the population burnt. The other half was decimated, with every tenth man, woman, or child added to the pyre.

The nobility who had fallen were given no such choice. They were placed upon the stake and burnt. It is said that 10 million were burnt that day, all of the stakes being lit by Orthesion's own hand. That is, his last remaining organic arm. Orthesion's left arm had been severed by a Heirloom Chainsword from the Angevin Crusade. After slaying the owner, Orthesion took that Chainsword for himself, writing a hundred purity seals and sealing them upon the blade to prevent the spread of corruption.

Following this, Orthesion was raised to be a Bishop. Alas, the status quo could not last. House Solarion, an ally of Novarium, spread many slanderous lies about Orthesion, including accusing him of Kin-slaying after Julius, Orthesion's brother, died under mysterious circumstances. Though the Cardinal knew these were lies, Orthesion's own father did not. Orthesion begged the Cardinal to let him leave this system behind. When he burnt the 10 million Heretics, Orthesion claimed the God-Emperor spoke to him, telling him to travel the stars, purging the Heretic, the Mutant, the Witch, and the Unclean.

The Cardinal sent an astropathic message to an old friend in the Rogue Trader business and soon a shuttle arrived to take Orthesion away from his home, his family, and his enemies. Or, so Orthesion thought at least....
