Background

It is known by those who have read Norse mythology that Loki claimed to have had an affair with the wife of Tyr. What isn't generally known is that affair produced a son, named Valr, who inherited his father's handsome looks but his powers and many of his behavioral traits came from his mother, Zisa, a goddess of the earth and fertility, and his upbringing by both her and Tyr (at least until his resemblance to Loki became clear) helped shape him so that he did not end up following in Loki's evil footsteps.

At the time of Loki's downfall, it was only the pleadings of Zisa and the fact that he is the nephew of Odin and his wife Frigg that spared him from the fate of his father and half-brothers Instead he was exiled and stripped of many of his powers. He has spent all his time since trying to prove that he is nothing like his father, difficult when he, physically, resembles him to a great degree. The other gods (except, that is, for his mother) still don't completely trust him, and keep a careful watch on him, lest bad blood lead to him betraying them as Loki did. Despite all that, he has remained loyal to them, hoping that he would one day be allowed to return home.
