Pei Pei
Tales of the Jade Mantis[edit]
Character[edit]
Pei-pei grew up in one of Beaumonde’s industrial cities. Repairing machinery for a living under the city’s heavy smog, she learned how to keep an engine working with little more than scrap metal and chewing gum, and also how to kick a man in the nuts in a gang fight. Sailing between the stars she rarely saw has always been her childhood dream, and when hastily offered a post as on-board mechanic by a band of smugglers and scoundrels, she jumped at the opportunity. She’s a thief and a cynic, but with just a hint of childish innocence and wonder.

Pei-Pei gives the impression of being somewhat like mouse. Small and wiry, her eyes are always darting from one side of the room to another, her hands fiddling with whatever is within reach. This nervousness only subsides when she's concentrated on something, which generally means either machines, books, or music. When she talks, which isn't terribly often, she uses the language and tone of a cynic and an ex-gang member, but she still possesses a certain wistfulness and naivete that betrays the fact she is barely 19 years old. She normally wears baggy workman's jeans and old shirts for comfort when working, and when not working. She's pretty sure she wouldn't know what to do with a dress anyway.
