Characters[edit]

Player Characters[edit]

Latima Lawrence

Latima is a weight-lifter and a highly-skilled repairwoman. Very strong, and with some decent combat skills, Latima also has a miserable life at home and a crippling fear of being alone.

Kelly Green

Kelly comes from a wealthy family, and has seen her family torn apart and their affluence gone in recent times. She is an expert gymnast and martial artist, and also rather reckless. She also has a bit of a criminal background....

Kristine "Kristi" MacKenzie

Kristi is the resident A/V and camera nerd. Alone among all the player characters, she has a complete family at home (and even siblings!). She is also the least violent of the group.

Kyle Louvetier

Kyle was an ordinary kid (maybe a bit of a troublemaker) until he saw all of his friend's killed by arsonist vampires. Since then, he has taken up monster-hunting, and has developed a very strong suspicion of the supernatural. He's skilled with the crossbow and other weapons.

Persephone "Persy" Jones

Persy is the Slayer and a big SCA geek. She is also president of the school's fencing club. At present, Persy is dating Ryan (see below).

Other Supernatural People[edit]

Douglas Lindsay

Douglas Lindsay is the guidance counselor and Levi Coffin High and also Persy's Watcher. He seems to be a bit of an old-fashioned watcher, preferring to sit back and offer assistance from the sidelines rather than accompanying Persy on the front.

Sam Whitman (Played by Scarlett Johansson)

Apprentice Watcher currently filling in for Mr. Lindsay while he's off doing whatever in the UK. Beautiful, fashionable, and somewhat shallow. Sam and Kelly don't get on well, and she is often not present when things go down.

Family Members[edit]

Latima's Mother (Mrs. Lawrence?)

To Latima, her mother is probably the worst person alive - she just lazes about and sleeps around and treats Latima poorly. Truthfully, the first two claims are probably just Latima's bitter perceptions, but there is no doubt that there is bad blood between her and her daughter, a relic of the break-up between Latima's parents.

Michelle (Mrs.) Green (Played by Karen Strassman?)

Mrs. Green is Kelly's mother. She's a former trophy wife and now runs a day spa and hair salon. Mrs. Green tries her best to make everything work out for Kelly. Recently, it's been revealed that she has some awareness of the supernatural, and is not at all happy about Kelly's involvement with it.

Mr. Mackenzie

Kristi's father is a consulting broadcast engineer. He's also a good cook. He hasn't shown up too often so far, but he seems to be pretty on top of things.

Mrs. Jessica MacKenzie

Kristi's mother is a producer for the local news station. Like Mr. Mackenzie, she hasn't appeared much, but so far she seems strict and more than a little religious.

Katherine MacKenzie

Kristi has two sisters. This is the older one, in college.

Karoline "Karo" Mackenzie

Kristi's middle sister. Karo and Kristi get along very well, for the most part. She's presently a senior in high school and a cheerleader. She has had a number of unfortunate supernatural encounters, but doesn't seem to have learned anything from them.

Doctor Spleen

Kristi's cat.

Mrs. Louvetier

Kyle's mother. She's an airline stewardess, and, as such, isn't home very often. When she is, she moves between enjoying her time with her son and sharing some of his general interests, and being exasperated by how much trouble he's getting into.

Samhain

Kyle's cat and most common roommate.

Dr. Jones

Dr. Jones is Persy's mother and teaches classes about Ancient Greece at a local university. She's recently been promoted there, and has been working long hours since then. Dr. Jones is a bit more used to college students than teenagers, and sometimes has some trouble with Persy. Her book collection could probably function as a very specific Occult Library.

Teachers and School Faculty[edit]

Mr. Valentine

Mr. Valentine is the vice-principal and is nominally in charge of discipline. The words "harsh but fair" do not apply. Mr. Valentine would rather punish someone innocent than let someone guilty run free, so most of the school staff try to refrain from involving him when possible.

Ms. Donnell

The librarian. Ms. Donned takes an interesting approach to library organization - anythi she doesn't personally believe in gets thrown into the disorganized morass that is the Fiction section. This includes not only your actual fiction, but also books on subjects like religion and the occult - the sorts of things that see Slayers and their friend's actually using the library. Ms. Donnell's terrible system imposes a -2 penalty on all rolls to use the school library.

Mr. Plevyak

Mr. Plevyak teaches English to all of the player characters except Latima in first period. He's passionate about his subject, but very mellow, and he lets his students walk all over him. Also, he's kind of a dork.

Ms. Barnes

She teaches art to Kelly, Latima, Kristi, and Kyle, third period. She's not a bad art teacher, but is extremely distracted by her upcoming wedding.

Mrs. Barnes

She teaches math to Latima first period. Terrible, boring teacher. Not much else to say. No relation to the art teacher (that you know of).

The History Teacher (You know the drill)

Teaches American History to Persy in third period. Strict but interesting.

Mrs. Sanders

In charge of detention.

Schoolmates[edit]

Olivia (Played by Renee Olstead?)

Olivia is queen bee around Levi Coffin High. She's the prettiest girl in school, cheer captain, and general unpleasant person to be around. No genius, but does well in class. Was dating Ryan. Featured prominently in episode 1, where she was attacked by the Bjonak. Usually seen around Kara, Cara, and Shelby. Olivia is a well-endowed redhead who puts a lot of effort into her appearance.

Kara (with a K) Thompson

Kara (with a K) is one of Olivia's hangers-on and is quite simply a bully. Her family is very well off, and her father is on the school board, so she manages to avoid getting in trouble for her nastiness. Particularly dislikes Kelly, due to a fracas at the beach party in episode 1. Kara is a skinny blonde with long, straight hair.

Cara (with a C) Thomas

Cara (with a C) is another one of Olivia's goons. Like Kara, she's a bully. Unlike Kara, Cara is less willing to get physical. Cara lacks Olivia's looks and Kara's money, so her social status is largely due to hanging out with them. Cara looks extremely similar to Kara. Presently in the hospital.

Shelby

Shelby rounds off Olivia's squad. She is probably the most decent of the four (not saying much). Shelby is the shortest of the four, with dark hair and skin that hints at some Latino ancestors.

Ryan Shumaker (Played by Chace Crawford?)

Formerly Olivia's boyfriend, Ryan was at the center of episode 1, the boy Lyn wanted so badly that she accidentally unleashed a monster to go kill all of her competitors. Persy and Kyle rescued him from the monster, and maybe something took, because now he's with her. Ryan is on the football team and is pretty popular, making him kind of an odd match for misfit Persy. Ryan is well-built and muscular, with very dark hair.

Lyn Czarnowsky

Lyn had a big role in episode 1, where she sorta unleashed the monster. She's a goth, and pretty keen on Ryan. Short. Black hair, probably dyed.

Sean

If the girls are picked on by Olivia and her cronies, Sean and his friend Derek are male equivalents. Sean, like Ryan, is on the football team. He is a huge bully and hates Kyle, who beat him in a fight once. Stereotypical bullying jock, but perhaps a bit more murderous. Medium height, dirty blond, spiky hair. Very broad shoulders.

Derek

Derek is Sean's friend. He is of a pretty similar attitude. Maybe a bit smarter and a bit less likely to start a fight. Black, shaved head. Tries to look like Samuel L Jackson.

Wolfgang (Played by Chris Hemsworth?)

Wolfgang is a strange student. A junior, he's new to this school. He's a masterful fencer, able to keep up with Persy, and has a wide assortment of strange interests. Tall and handsome, with long blond hair, which he keeps tied back in a ponytail.

Jessie

Acquaintance/friend of Kelly's. Has art with her. Jessie is very concerned about being popular, and isn't. She was one of the first kids at school to befriend Kelly, possibly hoping that the pretty Kelly would become someone and drag her up with her. But she's nice. Also, she is very prone to spreading rumors and gossip. Short, blonde hair, of medium stature, and not terribly pretty.

Chris and Eric

Two nerds in first period math with Latima. They are perpetually arguing about some geeky topic. Kirk vs Picard. Star Wars vs Star Trek. Bobs Fett vs Samus Aran. D&D 3.5 vs D&D 4. You know the types. Still, they're friends. Also, totally clueless about girls. Both skinny, Eric is short and blond, Chris tall and dark-haired.

John and Wesley

These guys are in the fencing club with everybody else except Latima. They may be somewhat inspired by two famous, fictional swordsmen. They are the most generic-looking people you can possibly imagine.

Jake

A kid who's shown up once or twice. Very interested in cars. Has art with most of the PCs. Skinny, black, with short, curly hair.

??? Johnson

Does he have a first name? Probably. Johnson is in wrestling with Latima. He had a hard time wrestling with a girl at first, but he's gotten used to it. Not a bad guy. Wiry, blond, and with short hair.

Alice

Alice is very shy, but manages to be openly gay. I think we said she could be pretty if she put some work into it? In any case, she got shot down when she hit on Kelly, and it will probably be a long time before she builds up the courage to show her face again.

Megan

Yearbook staff. She not infrequently is seen around Kristi, often trying to get her to do something for Yearbook. Doesn't really stand out in a crowd, has long, black hair with two little braids in front.

Sam

Also yearbook staff. Sam is a surfer bum. This is odd because the Atlantic is not really great for surfing. But who am I to play against type. Tall, with curly red hair. Gave Kristi a ride in episode 1.

Tyler and Michael Sparks

Identical twins and freshmen. They're presently going out with Kristi and Karo (Tyler with Kristi, Michael with Karo). Well, they did once, anyway. Maybe it will happen again. Short and blond with spiky hair.

Other People[edit]

Emily

Student at Saint Rita's University. May be hooking up with Latima?

Subplots[edit]

Death of Persy

I don't believe it. Persy's... dead.

Earn Drama Points: For each episode in which you show one or more of the stages of grief, you get a drama point.

Kristi and Karo

Kristi and her sister are having a bit of a spat.

Earn Drama Points: Kristi gets a drama point if this gets worse. Anybody else can get a point by helping the two make up.

School Conflict

Whether it's Olivia, Kara, Cara, and Shelby or Sean and Derek, you all have enemies at school.

Earn Drama Points: Get a drama point when you risk getting in trouble to do something nasty to one of them. Get a drama point when you (the player) let them get one over on you. Get two drama points for ending the conflict - one way or another.

I Have a Secret

Fighting the forces of evil - and being the Slayer - aren't necessarily the sort of things you want other people to find out about.

Earn Drama Points: Kelly gets a drama point any time she seriously lies to her mother about being the Slayer. Anyone else can get a drama point by helping her corroborate her story. Kelly gets two drama points when her mother finds out, whether she was told or not.

I Hate Going Home

Latima and her mother don't get along. Wouldn't it be nice to get away?

Earn Drama Points: Latima gets a drama point if this relationship gets worse or if she works hard to move out. .

Romance

Ah, spring. When a young man's fancy turns to love.

Earn 1 Drama Point: When you ask someone out and get shot down; When you first kiss a specific character (PC or NPC); If a date gets in the way of Slaying or vice-versa; When you crush on, flirt with, or come close to kissing another PC; If you have sex with somebody (more points if something more comes of it).

Sam and Kelly

Kelly and Sam do not get on well.

Earn Drama Points: Kelly earns 1 drama point for escalating conflict with Sam, making a real effort to get rid of her, or when the conflict proves a problem at a bad moment (missing a vampire because you were arguing, for example). Other PCs can get a drama point by taking sides with either Sam or Kelly, or by putting on a real effort to end their fighting.

A Small Debt

Kelly owes Nia one hour with her voice. Latima owes Gwen a love poem.
