RH101:Majesty

In the language of the Reality Hackers, “Majesty” can refer to either: 1) Government interference; 2) an agent of the government engaging in government interference (often “His Majesty” or “Her Majesty”; later, when the term was more widely known, a few people would call them “Your Majesty” right to their faces); or 3) by extension, an incident of undue interference from the government.

The term was originally coined as a reference to *Majestic-12, the famous supposed government conspiracy—the logic being, if the conspirators were Majestic, then their actions were obviously Majesty. The term was reinforced as a sardonic comment on the resources and power a government could bring to bear against its enemies (and, as pointed out, an ironic comment on the amount of attention they could take while doing so).

The term was coined early on in the movement and first saw print in the e-newsletter of the Formal Erisian Dispersive; it became more widespread during the “Summer of Hate”, in response to particularly heavy-handed tactics.
