Ragara Calel Falia's Relationships

  • Nellens Vaigu (NPC): Lovely, gentle, artistic and beloved by many of the group. While we didn’t share many interests and I wasn’t as close to her as many of the others, she was always soothing and relaxing to be around. I can’t believe that she’s gone and, if circumstances warrant, I will see to it that she is avenged.

Falia never really noticed Vaigu much prior to the shared vision of the Empress. When she thought of her at all, it was just as Kythri and Usera’s quiet and artistic roommate or as one of Raval’s occasional victims. After the group solidified due the vision, a friendship did develop between them and Falia shared a few confidences with her. However, due to different interests and needs, the friendship wasn’t as deep as Vaigu’s relationships with many of the others. Shortly before graduation, Vaigu requested that Falia arrange a fairly substantial loan for her with House Ragara and wouldn’t reveal why she need the money. Falia arranged the loan. After graduation, Falia fell out of touch with Vaigu; unaware where she was or how to contact her more often than not.

  • Cynis Hasinja Kytharsis (Rip van Mason): Beautiful, witty, and skilled, she was a model student, the social center of our circle and school, and an example of what a Dragon Blooded should be. I was not at all surprised when I heard that she had become the Satrap of Caspian. I just wish that the incident between her and Desro hadn’t caused so much harm to the circle and hope that someday the rifts can be mended.

Kytharsis and Falia were friends from the start, sharing clothes and gossip, planning parties, hunts, and masquerades together. Along with Ravel, Gulio, Tokkera, and Usera, they initially formed the heart of the popular crowd. The friendship stayed much the same after the appearance of the Empress, with Falia rarely seeing past Kythi’s facade and when she did just assuming it was a misunderstanding or an aberration. The relationship between them grew strained after the incident between Kythri and Desro. Falia still doesn’t entirely understand exactly what caused that relationship to shatter so badly and with so many different rumors swirling around about it, she doubts she ever will. She has no idea at all, that it was a few of her words to Desro that allowed him to see through Kythri’s manipulations. She struggled to remain friends with her entire circle despite ever growing pressure to choose a side, which ultimately lead to a duel between her and Guilo. Since the dinner party, her relationship with Kytharsis has grown more distant, though they still exchange occasional light letters and Falia is always interested to hear news about the Caspian Satrapi.

  • Cynis Hasijna Zende (chrespo): I owe him my life. Truthfully, his over protectiveness could get frustrating at times, but had it not been for his desire to treat all of us as though we were his younger siblings, I most likely wouldn’t be speaking with you right now. It has been a while since I’ve seen him, but should he ask for my aid, he would have it without hesitation.

Initially the relationship between Zende and Falia was that of friendly acquaintances. A cousin of Kytharsis, he was on the periphery of the popular crowd. The friendship between them grew stronger once the circle formed, although his protectiveness towards all of his circle mates could be a bit much at times. After all, Falia was quite certain she could handle any challenge she chose to undertake. Falia was wrong. A bit too much to drink, a challenge and a bet led Falia to agree to climb to the peak of Eagle Rock during a dinner party one night. She ended up badly injured and quite probably would have died before morning had Zende not found her and got her back to a healer in time. Nevertheless, her injuries did prevent her from competing in and quite probably winning a competition at the House of Bells that next week. She is still very grateful for his assistance, and though their relationship has grown more distant since the destruction of the circle, she still thinks fondly of him and would be more than willing to assist him should he ever need it. Though, she probably wouldn’t approve of some of his current activities.

  • Mnemon Guilo (Drakensis): I greatly regret the way our friendship ended. While she started the duel and has been pushing me for months to take sides in the fight between Kytharsis and Desro, I should have kept my temper and I never should have humiliated her like that in front of everyone. I miss her and hope that someday we can make things right.

Skilled athletes and swordswomen, Gulio and Falia has been friendly rivals from the beginning. Shared interests, compatible personalities, and the knowledge that their competitions brought out the best in each other only allowed the friendship to grow ever stronger. Unfortunately, things started to go very wrong after the fight between Desro and Kythri. Guilo was firmly on Kythri’s side and started putting a lot of pressure on Falia to take Kythri’s side as well. After a while, it started to feel like every conversation between them came back to that same topic…one that Falia was standing firm on. Things came to a head shortly after graduation, at a Cynis garden party. Falia had been given a Gemstone of Deep Drink and certain instructions by her family and told that if she succeeded at her task the hearthstone would be hers to keep. Guilo had been given orders by Mnemon herself to defeat Falia in a duel and disrupt the Ragara’s plans and since Falia appeared to have been drinking heavily believed that it would be an easy fight. Falia lost her temper. The pressure of her assignment, the constant nagging of Guilo to take Kythri’s side, and just the wrong words, caused the young fire blood to push the duel further than she normally would and when she saw an opening to take an action that would leave Guilo humiliated. The duel ended with Guilo’s blade in Falia’s off hand, Gulio on her back, and Falia’s blade at her throat. Once Falia regained her temper and completed her task, she started regretting what she had done. But, by then, Gulio was gone. Falia hasn’t spoken with Gulio since that day, though she does seek out any information she can find on her former friend. Falia would love to set things right, but sometimes it’s hard to take that first step or to know what that first step should be.

  • Tepet Usera (Kayashi): If Kythri was the social center of our circle, Usera was the academic center. A brilliant student and skilled tactician and a gifted artist, she helped me on more than one occasion deal with an overly challenging assignment in military history or strategy. Thankfully she and her wing survived the battle against the Bull of the North, though I fear that she and her house may face challenging times in the coming years. Perhaps there will be something I can do to help.

Usera and Falia had been part of the popular circle and on friendly terms from the beginning. Falia had respected her academic ability and had always had fun spending time visiting with her and Kythri. Part of being a circle is strengthening each other, and Usera did so by assisting Falia with some of her more challenging academic subjects during the years at the House of Bells. Usera was another one who took firmly Kythri’s side after the fight between Kythri and Desro, which unfortunately lead to strained relationships as Falia tried to remain neutral. Falia still writes to Usera occasionally and has recently been wondering if Usera might need her assistance now that the Tepet position has been so badly weakened. She has been toying with the idea of trying to create some sort of business opportunity that would allow Usera to engage in the art she enjoyed so much. But, realizes House Tepet would probably much prefer to keep the gifted strategist in her current position.

  • V’Neef Desro (Toras): My favorite memories of Desro always revolve around us having fun. He was always the perfect addition to any party or gathering, especially since somehow he could always obtain wine, liquor and most anything else that you might need. He also had a delightful sense of humor, which seems to have gotten darker since the incident with Kythri, and a definite sense of fair play. My friendship with him has remained the strongest since our group went their separate ways, perhaps because I had to fight for it. We correspond frequently and try to spend time together on the rare occasions he is near the Juche Prefecture.

Desro and Falia’s friendship started in primary school. Falia was drawn to the mirthful and entertaining social butterfly who seemed to have a gift for pulling pranks on the people who really deserved it. That friendship has only grown stronger through the years. He provided her with her favorite drinks and regularly defeated her at card games. She saw to it that he developed the needed skills in swordsmanship and archery. Truth be told, she managed to develop a bit of a crush on him as well, though, by that point he was already in love with Vaigu, and then in a relationship with Kythri so she kept it firmly to herself. Then, without even realizing it, Falia during a conversation with Desro shattered his relationship with Kythri by making a couple of statements that allowed him to see through Kythri’s manipulations. Unable to determine which of the rumors about the reasons for the fight were true, and wanting to believe the best of all of her friends, Falia did her best to stay neutral. A stance which ultimately lead to a duel and the destruction of her friendship with Guilo. Falia and Desro still keep in touch, writing to each other regularly and when time and circumstances allow spending some time together. Falia would love to see the old rifts between him and the others mended and the circle reformed. She hopes that time will sooth away the old wounds, but, so far, that hasn’t happened.

  • Sesus Denerid Ravel (Tyrnis): Our vision of the Empress had the most obvious effect on Ravel, transforming him from a rather arrogant and lazy bully into the Immaculate Monk he is today. I respect the way he has re-forged himself into someone who truly honors the Elemental Dragons, although I wish that it hadn’t required breaking the engagement between him and Guilo. I speak with him occasionally and he is the example I first consider when thinking of the Noble Insights or following the Diligent Practices of our faith.

Even at his worst, Ravel never bullied Falia. After all, they were both in the popular crowd and her breeding and family’s wealth were not much different from his own. Although for the most part she ignored his attitudes, she did occasionally object to the worst of the bullying and attempt to distract him with the suggestion of some other activity instead. It took her some time to believe that he had really changed after the vision of the Empress, but over the years, her respect for him has grown. Their relationship hasn’t been marked by dramatic moments and significant events but is rather a friendship that has just grown a bit more distant due differing paths and interests.
