Red Star Dervish is a character in the ZaijianHoneyBlues campaign setting, in the Nihao Honey 2 subcampaign. She is played by Christopher Bengtsson, who was "headhunted" by Argent to join in Belphanior's online sister-campaign. Dervish is a student of Black Crane High.

About the Character[edit]
 Dervish2.jpg

Red Star Dervish is a tough ganger-chick with a heart of gold. She was born and raised in the slums of the Godseye-district in Shen Zhou City where she lived with her ginormous family (14 siblings!). Before long she started running with the Six Phantoms Consortium, an influential street-gang led by the mysterious Blind Fox. Dervish had (at the outset of Nihao Honey 2) been assigned by Fox to do recruiting for the Phantoms at the Black Crane High. Red Star has lately interpreted the situation that Fox was trying to protect her from some to her unknown danger by sending her to the Black Crane.

Spirited and openhearted, Dervish knows everyone who is worth knowing in the City. And if she doesn't, she knows someone who knows whoever she doesn't know. Needless to say, she's got a foot in everywhere, and she' knows Shen Zhou like the back of her hand. Intuitive and curious, Dervish often acts as the face of the Black Crane students, and more than once has she had to mediate between Thrice-Radiant Ping and Iron Seraph. She is often the go-to-girl for angsty teen-age problems as well. Red Star is always looking for a good time, and she is both carefree, loyal, relaxed and dedicated at the same time.

Background[edit]

Red Star Dervish was born and raised in the impoverished projects of
Godseye, one of the lesser districts of Zhen Shou City. She learned
the importance of carrying your own weight at an early age, working
in various sweatshops and factories to help her family make ends meet.
Dervish was raised in a large family with 14 siblings, only of which
3 (including her) were girls, so she's not particulary intimidated by
boys. She knows how to make her voice heard, even with thuggish louts.
As she grew older, Dervish began to flirt around with the different
gangs that were contantly running through Godseye, like filthy water
in the gutters.

...And, she saw her window. A way out of the sweatshops and the
factories, a way for her family to not having to bust their guts
every single day of the year just to get some decent food on the
table.

Dervish began to run with the Six Phantoms Consortium. The Six
Phantoms dabble mostly in bribery and blackmail, and Dervish proved
to have an unusually shrewd mind for such illicit activities. She
also had the ability to conduct herself in proper situations as well
as in the underworld, a skill that would be an enormous asset for the
Six Phantoms.

She became a liaison of sorts, a conduit for the SPC to have an eye
in to the world above the one of deals and steals. Dervish began to
do more and more face-work for the Six Phantoms, and soon she found
herself scouting for prospective recruits for the gang. And what
better place to recruit than at the local High School?
When the rivalry between the Jade Dragon and the Scarlet Tiger
Schools began in earnest, Dervish decided to go check out the new
kids on the block, the Black Crane School, and try to siphon out
whatever talent she could to the SPC before the Jade Dragon or the
Scarlet Tiger take them for themselves, or worse yet, get them killed!
Dervish is aware that she's made progress with the Six Phantoms
Consortium relatively rapidly, and she's hellbent upon proving
herself to keep up showing loyalty and furthering the gangs interest.
Having grown up with such a large family as she did, she knows what
it's like to be neglected by a father who favored his sons, and she
definitely doesn't want to go through the same thing with her
chosen "family".

Her loyalties might end up a bit more complicated than she first
thought though, having enrolled with the Black Crane...

Appearance[edit]
Dervish4.jpg

Part revolutionary freedom-fighter, part rocker, part mod, Dervish always makes sure to dress like pop-culture icon. Dinky Dukes, wifebeaters, converse, high-heels, cravattes, scarfs, leather jackets and leather gloves, army-caps, sunshades. Dervish has got it all, and whatever she's wearing, she reeks of cool and style. Red Star Dervish has a medium length bronze bell-cut, and a perpetual warm, golden tan. The dark pools of her eyes hint towards a level of insight that is older than her years (even if just a few!)

Kung Fu[edit]

Dervish dances like an animal with her expert Drunken Monkey, she packs a mean punch with a tailored Dragon Saber fitted for baseball bats instead of edged weapons called Concrete Kraken Style. During her time in hiding, Dervish has been rigorously training the ways of the Eight Diagram Fist to sharpen up her fighting game.

Her signature style is all about grafitti trickery and painted illusions, and it is based on Crafts. Dervish´s Signature Style.

Contacts and Informants[edit]

Dervish has a comprehensive information net that stretches all over Shen Zhou City. Here are a few specifics with whom she has dealt with during Nihao Honey 2 : The New Challengers.

  • The Doc, a pervy hacker with too much spare time.
  • Slum Jackal, a sharp, arrogant, and reclusive bishounen who hangs out on the subways.
  • The local rocker-band Tony's Crew are on good standings with Dervish as well.
