  • Rei is the daughter of Japanese immigrants, herself born and raised in America. Her parents own a photography studio and have always been very strict in pushing Reiko to succeed. Ever since she was old enough to read (at the age of four), Rei has studied voraciously and worked to excel in dancing at her parents' behest. She grew to love ballet and the sense of serenity and focus it gave her, but her greatest love was that of the prehistoric world. Especially the Mesozoic. Her parents frowned upon it, considering paleontology a useless science, and pushed her to study her biology more. Rei did so and worked hard, but always she planned to one day escape the smothering shadow of parental expectations and become a leading paleontologist.

Despite the need for glasses, Reiko is very observant. She is a quiet girl, prone to being shy around strangers (often teased in her youth as a "nerd"), and slow to really open up. Despite her petite frame, however, she is surprisingly graceful and quick, and many long nights studying or practicing her dancing (sometimes both!) have given her endurance that belies her small frame.

Player's Notes[edit]

This is an attempt at something different. Normally I would play someone a lot more physically capable, possibly even a fighter-type, but I went the opposite route with Reiko. She offers little in the way of physical power, but she's quick-witted and quick on her feet, and can certainly help out in that regard. She's also very perceptive, which could help immensely when one needs to avoid the hungry dead. Student loans and things have left her little in the way of spare cash, but she'll make up for it in other ways.

Possible equipment: backpack, cell phone, digital camera, a textbook or two

As far as why she'd be at the zoo, well, that's pretty easy, right? She's a genius biology student and has a love of the natural world. You'd have to find a reason for her not to be at the zoo on a day she doesn't have class. :P
