Rob, as he prefers to be called, doesn't stand out overly much upon first glance. His appearance is average, he stands a bit tall at 6'1" and just has "one of those faces". Beneath the colorful t-shirts and ratty jeans lies a sleek musculature that isn't always obvious. He walks with an almost-feline grace and his muscles slide against each other like steel cords trapped under his skin. He keeps his brown hair short, though it always tends strongly towards the shaggy side before he cuts it. He has considered growing some facial hair, but has thus far decided against it, opting instead to keep himself clean shaven, which makes him look a few years younger than he is. Those who know him never fail to note that his irises are golden rings around his pupils, strangers rarely or never notice.

Anima[edit]

As a Lunar of the Full Moon Caste, Rob's anima banner shines with a steady glow of soft silver light. Greater expenditures of essence increase the intensity. Once his banner becomes iconic, it displays a gray wolf howling at the moon, or approximating his actions, whichever is more cinematic.

Rob may, for five motes of Essence, double his speed and leaping distances for a scene. Rob also doubles his Strength for the purpose of feats of strength. This effect stacks with other increases, but only by adding a factor equal to the original value, not continuing to multiply by two. When Rob has spent 11 or more motes of Peripheral Essence, this Anima Effect activates automatically without cost.

All Lunar Exalted, Rob included, are able to spend a single mote to cause their caste marks to glow brightly for a scene, cause their anima to glow brightly enough to read by for a scene, cause their Tell to become unmistakable and impossible to miss for a Tell, or know the precise day of the lunar month, the phase of the moon, and the time of day for the rest of the scene.

Resources 2[edit]

Rob primarily lives off of the money he has made in poker tournaments and in online poker games. One high stakes win was enough to put him living comfortably enough for now, though he knows that he is slowly hemorrhaging money. He lives in a decent condo not far from the Strip and owns an older model BMW which he keeps in very good condition.

Adds one die per mote spent on activation to a single roll based on the attribute. No combination of charms can add more than (Attribute) dice to the roll. When increasing a static value, each success rolled with dice from this Excellency increases the effective relevant Attribute by two for an instant.

Claws of the Silver Moon (Lunars p144)

4m(+2m), 1wp, Simple (Speed 4), Combo-OK, Gift, Obvious, One Scene

For four motes and one Willpower, Rob can grow large silver claws. These claws increase basic natural attacks as follows: Acc +2, Dam +(Strength)L, and may be used to parry lethal damage without a stunt. Rob can spend one extra mote to add these bonuses to other natural attacks his current form may have (in most cases, probably a bite). Rob can, as an Essence 3 or higher character, spend an additional two motes to make the claws slimmer and more needlelike, providing Accuracy +(Dexterity).

When Rob uses Deadly Beastman Transformation he may commit one mote to add the basic bonuses to his natural attacks. By committing three motes, he gains the best bonuses he can access.

Rob can use this charm in response to an attack (Reflexive, Step 2). This Charm eliminates up to (Dexterity) points of penalties that apply to Rob's Dodge and Parry Defense Values.

When activated as part of Relentless Lunar Fury, this charm eliminates up to (Dex/2) points of penalties to Dodge and Parry DV at all times.

Wasp Sting Blur (Lunars p154)

This Charm reduces the Speed of Rob's action by one for every two motes spent, after persistent effects, to a minimum of 3.

When used with Relentless Lunar Fury, this charm reduces the Speed of all attacks by 1 (minimum speed of 3) for the duration.

This Charm gives Rob four additional -2 health levels and two additional Dying health levels.

Relentless Lunar Fury (Lunars p158)

1m+, 1wp, Reflexive, (Essence x2) actions

This charm provides one automatic success to all combat actions but does not modify DV. While active, Rob does not suffer from wound penalties until they are worse than -1 and completely ignores fatigue for the duration. Robert also has the maximum benefit he can obtain via Physical Attribute Excellencies increased to (Attribute+Essence). Activating Relentless Lunar Fury allows Rob to simultaneously and without a Combo activate up to (Essence) other Fury-OK charms to gain their Fury-related benefit at the cost of two motes per charm.

This comes with a drawback. Rob cannot perform any non-combat actions while in a fuy and must continue to hunt and kill enemies until the charm ends. Robert is only able to perform non-combat actions by succeeding on a successful Willpower roll and even then suffers a -2 penalty to the roll. He can only stop the Fury early by rolling Willpower at a difficulty of Valor.

Can spent up to (Attribute) in motes, adding one success to the roll for every 2 motes spent. Equivlant to buying two dice when considering the maximum dice adding cap. When increasing a static value, every 2 motes spent increases the relevant attribute by two for an instant action or task.

Deadly Beastman Transformation (Lunars p136)

Rob can spend 5 motes to assume his war form, a hybrid of wolf and man. He gains several feet in height and a corresponding amount of weight. When Rob assumes this form, his Strength, Dexterity, and Stamina all increase by one. This knack has several side benefits that are discussed in the book related to healing and to survival. In addtiion, he gains access to the following Wyld mutations and all of their benefits, but none of their drawbacks.

Rob gains two dice to Awareness pools relating to these two senses.

Rob gains one die to Survival dice pools and adds 1L/1B to his soak.

  • Night Vision (The Wyld, p144)

Rob can see as easily on a moonless night in a city or a deep forest as ordinary humans can on an open plain or leafless forest on the night of the full moon, and can see as well under the full moon as ordinary humans can in full daylight.

  • Talons (Lunars, p208)

Rob can inflict lethal damage through MA attacks. Punches and kicks inflict two additional dice of lethal damage.

  • Wolf's Pace (Lunars, p207)

Rob adds two to his Dexterity for the purpose of calculating movement during combat, and adds two to his Strength for the purposes of jumping distances. He also adds one die to all rolls representing competitive running. In long-term movement, he can move as fast as a drawn carriage.

Quicksilver Second Face (Lunars p136)

By spending an extra mote, Rob may change shape as a Speed 3 action sintead of a normal (Speed 5) miscellaneous action. He can change more quickly between any two forms for the extra cost.

The Curse of the Lone Wolf

When suffering the effects of the Curse of the Lone Wolf, Rob needs no one and doesn't feel fear. He loses all respect for others. He won't wait for help before wading into combat, and he won't share his glory for success. He feels nothing but contempt for those around him, including friends and loved ones, and will always proceed without waiting for others to catch up.

Partial Control: Rob is without fear, but not without sense. He will flee if it is tactically sound to do so and doesn't have to heedlessly rush into battle. If he does join battle though, he will ignore his allies and act as though he is the only one fighting on his side.

General History[edit]

Robert Grimm has always had a bit of a temper. He's kept his cool. When he has to let it out he goes to the gym, or on a long run, away from people. His self control has allowed him to live out his life without any major problems, so far. He finished high school, tried out the college scene for a while, and found out he could make more money on poker than he'd be able to with most degrees.

He's been a loner most of his life. He's got friends, a very few - he's had a few girlfriends, though never for more than about 6 months at a time. Vegas was a good move for him, he thought. He makes his money preying on weaker players, his young face disarming many of the veterans of the game. He's got an easy smile and an amiable demeanor. He chit chats at the table, hoping to goad other players into displaying their tell, learning when they bluff. He knows most of the dealers in town casually. On the nights when he's not playing he checks out Vegas's overcharged night life, living fast and furious.

Furious ended up being the key word, ultimately.

Exaltation[edit]

Rob was just sitting at the bar, minding his business, drinking a beer and being exhausted after spending the previous hour dancing madly. A drunken biker type spun him around on his bar stool and decked him - solid - right in the face. Rob careened backwards off his barstool, slamming ungracefully into the woman who had been sitting beside him and rebounding off her and onto the floor. He clambered to his feet and hotly demanded, in short "What the hell, man?" It was not, he thought, an unreasonable question. He temper was spiking, but he was really -really- trying to keep it under control.

"You was dancin' wit mah girl!" the man insisted. He didn't really look the type to get girls, Rob thought. He was wider than was normal and not very tall, which emphasized that. He smelt of beer and weed and tobacco and, Rob thought, shit. His face was several days worth of scraggly blond hair. He was obviously balding, but attempting to cover it up with a bandanna - red and white. Behind him was the ugliest excuse for a woman Rob had ever seen. He vaguely recalled recoiling from her involuntarily on the dance floor at one point - not something that would commonly be mistaken for dancing.

He'd just made some money the previous night, so he was willing to try to slide out of the situation, "You've got it wrong, pal. Some other guy, I've got one of those faces, you know? Let me buy you a drink and we'll put this," he had been standing and stopped himself from saying 'ugly incident', "misunderstanding behind us."

"Howz'bout I take that outta yer hide instead?" the squat man suggested. Rob thought he saw the suggestion of fangs behind the man's too-large lips and tobacco stained facial hair.

Instead, Rob gave his most wolfish grin, his temper was reaching a breaking point and he was ready to be rid of the man rather than try to talk things out, "You're welcome to try."

The man responded by letting his fangs show and sprouting 3 inch claws on every finger. He displayed a self-satisfied smile, assuring himself that the fight as already won. He was a predator, a creature of the night, and no fresh kid was going to beat him in a fight.

At least not until that fresh kid erupted with power. Cool even light billowed out from Rob as he took his Second Breath. A silver disk burned on his forehead and strength, raw power, coursed through every fiber of his being.

Rob saw things a little differently. In his memory he remembers seeing the ugly man grow his claws and fangs - and then freeze. A silvery woman, achingly beautiful, walked through the crowd, passing through those that were in her path rather than moving around them. She was clad in wispy, reviling white robes and sashes and moved with an unfathomable grace. Rob was unable to move, still in the low crouch he had assumed as he was standing up. He could only follow her with his eyes as she moved in front of him and smiled - dazzling - then leaned over and kissed him lightly on the forehead. That was when the burning power entered him. This was his vision of the Silver Lady. That was the moment he was Exalted above normal men by his new goddess.

The man recoiled from Rob's shining aura for a moment, having been caught completely off guard. "Wha'tha hell are you!?" demanded the creature.

Rob got to his feet as his iris altered into their new color - a yellow ring around his pupils. He thought for the moment before responding. "Reborn," he replied as flashes of memory from time out of mind flickered through his consciousness.

Suffice it to say, his opponent did not survive the night. Lots of conflicting stories circulate around the city now regarding what exactly happened. Some suggest that he did actually transform into a giant man-wolf hybrid and savagely destroy his opponent. Others state that his aura blinded everyone too much to be able to tell what was going on, but that his opponent seemed to burn to ash. Still others contest that it was simply a fist fight, or that they took it outside before actually fighting at all. In any case, Rob has tried to encourage as many different rumors as possible, and in most cases, to spread the idea that it was someone else.

Rob is trying to go about life as usual as much as he can. He has terrible, glorious dreams now regarding a time and place that is long gone from the world. He wears sunglasses virtually all the time now to hide his Tell, which he doesn't quite realize that almost no one can actually notice. He tries to, when he can grab the free time, experiment with his new abilities. He is, he knows, at the very least, better, faster, and stronger than he has ever been, and that virtually anyone in recorded history has ever been.

But they're out there, he knows. That first night taught him. There are other creatures that lurk in the shadows, much more terrible than himself. Some of them probably want them dead. Little does he know that some might even herald him as some kind of modern day messiah - literally blessed by Luna herself with fantastic prowess and power.

Personality[edit]

Rob is very amiable and has an easy grin. His sense of humor is compatible with most people. He's extremely competitive, which is part of why he's been able to live off of playing poker. Rob is incredibly observant, a combination of both keen senses and natural situation awareness. He knows how to read people, and will often base his actions off of that. He is fiercely independent and almost fanatically loyal to those he holds dear (notably few in number). He doesn't realize it yet, but he has the makings of a great leader lurking within him, and time will slowly begin to draw out those qualities in him.

He commonly displays habits that were (figuratively) beaten into him as a child in a nondescript Midwestern town: he opens doors for ladies, refuses to hit a woman (except in self-defense, his mother would have his hide if she knew that part), and won't start eating until everyone has their food. He has a hot, quick temper which he is constantly suppressing, a lifetime of doing so ensures that he very rarely lets it burst out. He's frightened of what he might do if he lost his temper now - what with his incredible superpowers and all.

No really. Rob's primary goal at this point is to make more sense out of the change that he has undergone. He knows now that there is more to the world than meets the eye, and the first step to survival is understanding. Things are a little murky after that. He feels like he, and others like him, who have the power to fight these terrible creatures that stalk in the darkness should band together and do just that - fight them.
