“Rube” Vambrace

Identity[edit]

Stalwart Guardian[edit]

Guardian’s Hope[edit]

Frontline Tank: Spend 3 Hope to clear 2 Armor Slots.

Unstoppable[edit]

Once per long rest, you can become Unstoppable. You gain an Unstoppable Die. At level 1, your Unstoppable Die is a d4. Place it on your character sheet in the space provided, starting with the 1 value facing up. After you make a damage roll that deals 1 or more Hit Points to a target, increase the Unstoppable Die value by one. When the die’s value would exceed its maximum value or when the scene ends, remove the die and drop out of Unstoppable. At level 5, your Unstoppable Die increases to a d6.

While Unstoppable, you gain the following benefits:

• You reduce the severity of physical damage by one threshold (Severe to Major, Major to Minor, Minor to None). • You add the current value of the Unstoppable Die to your damage roll. • You can’t be Restrained or Vulnerable.

Unwavering[edit]

Gain a permanent +1 bonus to your damage thresholds.

Iron Will[edit]

When you take physical damage, you can mark an additional Armor Slot to reduce the severity.

Hybrid Clank Human[edit]

High Stamina[edit]

Gain an additional Stress slot at character creation.

Efficient[edit]

When you take a short rest, you can choose a long rest move instead of a short rest move.

Wanderborn[edit]

Nomadic Pack[edit]

Add a Nomadic Pack to your inventory. Once per session, you can spend a Hope to reach into this pack and pull out a mundane item that’s useful to your situation. Work with the GM to figure out what item you take out.

Fluff[edit]

Details[edit]

He/Him. Elaborate tattoos. Wears the lower half of what was once a colorful stage costume. Shaved head but a long, red-brown moustache. Deep-set grey eyes. Stands like a mountain that sorrows.

Background[edit]

Who from your community did you fail to protect, and why do you still think of them?

The Carnival of the Two Masks, of course. Gone now. Scattered or dead. But of them all, I still wonder what happened to joyful, laughing Tiny Marielle. That she could show such affection even to one with my ugly face… alas, a moment that will surely never happen again.

You’ve been tasked with protecting something important and delivering it somewhere dangerous. What is it, and where does it need to go?

It’s the joined skulls of Two-Faced Malone. Greatest barker that there ever was, he enjoyed looking over the audience from on high. I don’t know what his kith was-- never was another like him. But when he died, he charged me to hang his skull from the top of the Sky-Root, and I will someday do this.

You consider an aspect of yourself to be a weakness. What is it, and how has it affected you?

I fear it’s my heart. I weep too easily; I cannot harden that weak heart against the death that surrounds me, against the wails of those I could not, cannot save. For my heart to be as strong and hard as my metal arm would surely be a blessing.

Connections[edit]

• How did I save your life the first time we met?

• What small gift did you give me that you notice I always carry with me?

• What lie have you told me about yourself that I absolutely believe?
