Rule of Law[edit]

Written by Willow. Posted By RogueMoon

To a Rule of Law warrior, adherence to justice and law is the highest principle. Founded in the Yodotai Empire, the Rule of Law techniques are practiced by elite troops and justicars, but ronin/Gaijin calling himself Praxis brought its techniques (which many find questionable) to Rokugan.
Benefit: +1 Willpower
Skills: Athletics, Defense, Kenjutsu, Investigation, Lore: Law, Spears, Warfan (Shield)
Techniques
Rank One: Shield Technique
The Yodotai Legionaires are well versed in fighting with a weapon in one hand and a shield in the other. You suffer no penalties for fighting with a shield in your offhand, and may fight holding a spear with one hand, so long as you hold a shield in your offhand. When fighting with a Shield in your offhand, add 5 plus your school rank to your TN to be hit. When wielding a shield and making a Defense roll, you may roll Warfan instead.
Rank Two: Unyeilding Conviction
A man who serves Law does not yeild, for he serves a higher purpose. When taking wounds from an attack, subtract your School Rank + Willpower from all damage taken. You still take a minimum of 1 wound. Add your Water to your TN to be hit at all times.
(Cribbed from Rank 2 Moto, slightly tweaked- in my initial idea, this school was founded by an ex-moto. Maybe thinking of replacing this.)
Rank Three: Width of Creation
There is nowhere the Rule of Law does not apply, and principled men must move quickly to cover ground. You gain an extra attack, When two allies are standing next to you preventing you from being flanked, you recieve a +10 to your TN be hit.
Rank Four: Principles of Justice
At this level of devotion to the Rule of Law, ones knowledge of the Law is itself a weapon. Add your ranks in Lore: Law to all attack and damage rolls.
(Shields: I'm just treating them as warfans. Really big, identically statted warfans)
Bastion of the Legion:
When men of courage unite as one, no one can stop them. When fighting in a shield wall formation, you may either add +1 to your TN to be hit for every other member of the formation, OR you may allow every other member of the formation to use your TN to be hit as their own if it is higher.
