History

Sara grew up on a small farm, spending the daytime working the fields with her father (John) and the evenings learning the basics of magic from her mother (Jessica, who was the village alchemist). While he hated doing manual labor, both parents assured here it was for her own good, so she grunted it out for most of her life. When they felt she was ready, her mother taught her the basics of summoning beings and how to control them. She learned conjuring spells at an alarming rate, and was from then on seen using insivible servants to do her farm chores, enabling her to refine her conjuring abilities while getting her chores done at the same time.

Her father didn't take to this so well and demanded that she stop immediately, insisting that she was missing the point behind doing the work herself, but she refused. A large argument followed, and things flew out of hand really quickly to the point that he struck her across the face. Before her mother could intervene, Sara instinctively summoned a giant centipede, which bit her father and infected him with vile poison before disappearing.

The next morning, Sara left the farm and never looked back. She was tired of being told what to do and how to do it. While she did feel bad about what happened, she justified her actions by declaring that her father had it coming, but she was relieved to know that he didn't die from the wound. Before she left she tried to apologize for her actions, and her father accepted it and forgave her, but her mother disowned her and didn't want anything to do with her (having felt betrayed by her use of magic to hurt somebody).

To earn money in her travels, she sets up shop along the roads by villages she passes through and offers her wares (she learned Alchemy from her mother). Whenever she can, she tries to go to libraries and anywhere else that has books and knowledge. While she is interested in all manner of subjects, she is mostly learning about other creatures, demons, and monsters that exist so she might learn how to control them one day.

Personality

Sara isn't evil, but she's not good either. She has little use for laws and would rather settle things her way. She's out to see the world and learn to force more powerful beings to submit to her will and do her bidding. She absolutely refuses, however, to learn any kind of direct-damage type spell as it's so much easier to justify somebody dying by blaming it on the supernatural insect rather than having somebody's death on her own shoulders.

When things get rough, she'll try to use her magic or just get out of the area. While she is physically strong, she has no formal combat training and accepts the fact that if somebody swings a sword at her she'll probably drop like a rock.

Character Notes

She will eventually be branching into the Alienist prestige class (see Complete Arcane).

Most of the spells she'll be learning will focus around conjuring or bending people's will. As such, Evocation is one of her prohibited schools (the other is Illusion, as it's the only school I can really stand to play without lol).
