Hindrances[edit]

Insomnia - Trying to distinguish the sins she’s committed from those that have been passed down into her. How deep does her evil run?

Trauma - When she first felt the presence of a Nightmare, she heard it whisper to her and encourage her to indulge her wickedness.

Hunted - Mother Dragon is impressed with the project to create an ultimate evil. But the idea of overcoming it and defeating Min-ji is so boring. It wants her to keep growing more and more terrible, to see how much her horror can devour.

Vulnerability - Min-ji’s little brother, Min-jun, the one person she wants to hide her wickedness from at any cost. What she doesn’t know is that the cult has elected to turn him into the hero that will strike Min-ji down.

Madness[edit]

Borne of her desire to escape her fate, to escape the life she's been forced into, Min-ji can let her Madness spill out and force the world to reject her: she becomes unseen by those around her as reality tries to paper over her existence. With focus, she can infect a target with some of her Madness and bring the same effect upon them. Though this lets her escape human notice, unseen forces lurking in the recesses of materia seem to remain as aware of her as ever, if not more so.

Background[edit]

The world has problems, most of them too deeply ingrained for any simple solution to work. People don’t like that, and in times of desperation they turn to extreme solutions. Baek Min-ji’s parents were one of such people, and they joined a cult that promised to make everything right.

What was needed, according to the leaders, was for a great triumph of good over evil, for a great hero to defeat the very essence of wickedness. But first, they needed to find this essence. Or, as the leaders proclaimed, create it.

Min-ji was chosen as the vessel, and through her childhood the cult’s elders would whisper their horrible secrets to her in the darkness and make her repeat them over and over until she couldn’t tell the difference between her crimes and those she’d been taught. After a time, she was sent out to commit various crimes on behalf of the elders, in the process lining their pockets.

It was a slow decline into thinking of herself as less deserving, as less human, but there came a breaking point. While hiding from the cops after committing a robbery, she hid in the shadows and made herself truly invisible, unseen by the world around her. But then Min-ji realised there was something else watching her, and she’s never been able to forget it since.
