Operation Defiant Shroud[edit]

Situation: Alien Abduction
Location: Oakbridge, Oregon
The aliens initiated an abduction in Oakbridge via the usual method. Bombarding the town with abduction pods, and then dropping drop pods with Sectoids inside to round up survivors and prepare the victims for transport.
The primary team and the Closers were deployed from Area 51 via Skyranger, and interrupted the abduction during the second phase. Approaching from the west, the team split up and encountered several squads of sectoids. A brief firefight ensued, in which one member of the Closers was wounded. Examination at the base later on suggests that the injuries are caused by some form of focused plasma.
The team rescued locals, who indicated that remaining abductees were being held in a local motel, including one of the locals daughters. Advancing cautiously, the two teams surrounded the motel; discovering that the apparant leader of the sectoids was engaging the daughter with some form of energy (later identified as Diana Knight, NSA Analyst). Post mission debriefing suggests that this was some form of telepathic phenemenon being used to read her mind.
The team conducted a dynamic entry, quickly neutralizing the aliens on the ground floor, while the Closers entered the second floor. The motel suffered structural damage during the resultant firefight, but all aliens were terminated and all the abductees rescued. Rescued abductees were later debriefed before being remanded to local medical teams. Diana Knight was rescued and is being examined at Area 51, to see what affects the alien's psionic ability had on her.
Lieutenant Frederberg led her team up from the east side of the town, engaging a small squad of sectoids with support from the US Air Force, and ensured the perimeter was secure.
Following the mission, Shield teams arrived from Area 51 and secure the site while clean up crews recovered any extant alien artifacts.
