School of Go[edit]

by Isladar

  • This School can be used with my rules for Playing Go

Those who have achieved Rank 3 in their Go skill may begin to learn the true secrets of Go. Starting at Rank 3 and for every two ranks thereafter, those who wish to embark on the path of Go may begin purchasing the following techniques as if they were Emphases up to their Insight Rank (2xp for the first, 4xp for the second, etc).

Techniques

Rank 1: The Way of Go

Prerequisites: Insight Rank 1, Go Rank 3
You may Focus an additional time during Go games; you gain a Free Raise against any opponent whom you have previously played.

Rank 2: Taking the Measure

Prerequisites: Insight Rank 2, Go Rank 5
For every round that you study an opponent's play style, you gain an additional rolled die on all Endgames against that opponent for the remainder of the day. Every round spent Focusing in a game is considered a round of study. Every full game that you observe that player while they play another opponent counts as a round of study.

Rank 3: Triumph Before the Battle

Prerequisites: Insight Rank 3, Go Rank 7
Any time the player makes a Go roll, the player may spend a Void Point to reroll all dice lower than his Go Rank; you gain a Free Raise against any opponent if you have previously played any member of their Clan--this ability stacks with the Rank 1 ability.

Rank 4: Testing the Measure

Prerequisites: Insight Rank 4, Go Rank 9
For every round you study an opponent's play style, you gain an additional rolled and kept die on all Endgames against that opponent for the remainder of the day. Every round spent Focusing in a game is considered a round of study. Every full game that you observe that player while they play another opponent counts as a round of study. This replaces the benifit of Rank 2.
Rank 5: The Hand of God
Prerequisites: Insight Rank 5, Go Rank 10
After Pass is declared but before the Endgame roll is made, the player may spend two Void Points to reduce her opponent's Current Wounds to be equal to hers. If the opponent already has fewer Wounds than the player, there is no effect, but the Void Points are still spent.
