Witamous's Savage World's Cyborg game.

Background[edit]

Your skull throbs. Your head is in your hands. You heave once, twice, tasting bile in your throat. Your vision is blurry, then you feel a click inside your head, then a whir. You look down at your hands, the sun reflects off of their gleaming metal surface. You pad yourself to the grating sound of metal. Then the world seems to come into relief. The last things you remember were the sirens, the explosions, the sleek black things streaking from the sky, to land soundlessly on the ground. A flash...

You're yourself, but not yourself. You remember watching CNN, eating runny eggs for breakfast, the smell of grandma's apple pie. At the same time a voice in the back of your head assures you that all systems are operational and awaiting your command.

You know somewhere inside that you have awoken, gained control, and you are your own person. You also know you haven't been yourself for some time. You gaze around and see windswept desolation, desert, sparse scrub, and the burnt out hulks of buildings in the distance. Then you notice you are not alone. Dozens are around you, some are going through the same motions, others are motionless.

In this barren world you must work together to find out who and what you are, who did it to you, survive, and reclaim a world gone mad.

In response to an expressed interest, I'd like to start a custom setting for Savage Worlds. This is primarily a game of kicking butt and being awesome cyborgs in a post-apocalyptic future, there are secondary themes of self, identity, and morality. These play second fiddle to the action. Did I mention the kicking of posteriors?

Inspiration comes from a mad wonderful idea, and movies like Total Recall and Mad Max.

Characters[edit]

Allies[edit]

  • 7/11 Stealth cyborg played by iskallor
  • Charlie Hume "Family Man/Teacher/Repair Cyborg" played by Bent Paperclip
  • Sam Grayson played by Ovinnik

Character building[edit]

Characters will be built using the super heroes system in the Super Powers Companion. Setting Conceits are that all of the PCs are regular humans from the near-present that have now awoken to a post-apocalyptic world as modified cyborgs with fantastic technology built in. The PCs have instinctive control of their systems but the control improves with time.

optional rules[edit]

  • Knockback (Chars with Str d12 or greater knock foes back 1d4" +1d4" per attack roll raise)
  • No Unarmed Defender
  • Heavy Hitters power level (Characters start with 12 Power Points for their Arcane Background, when they take the new powers edge then gain 7 Power Points).
  • Super Karma (Characters may take an extra Major Hindrance during creation for 7 extra Power Points).
  • The Construct (5) Power is mandatory and costs 5 Power Points.
  • Headquarters, Mind Control, Mind Reading, Telepathy and Undead Powers are unavailable.
  • A lot of leeway is allowed in terms of tech level and power selection, but it has to fit in a technological context even if its a far-future technology.
