<Angelo> Hi RN!
=-= Mode #Nobilis +o Random_Nerd by Angelo
<Random_Nerd> Hey.
<BethE> Sorry about missing last week, guys. Bad headache.
<Random_Nerd> How's the internet solution, Laz?
<lazarus> internet's ... mostly ok. It's not dropping randomly anymore, but we haven't broken about 50 k/s average
<Angelo> @Everyone: You are ok if I put on an actual play post on RPG.net of the logs?
<lazarus> Angelo: Beth had been doing that.
<Angelo> really? and no one told me that?!!!?
<BethE> Angelo, you're welcome to put them in the Amyra thread...let's see if I can find the link...
<BethE> Ah, http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=242206
<BethE> I just find lately that it takes more time to clean up a log for posting (and because I can be a weirdo about punctuation and so forth) and I can't do all of my actual plays anymore. Now I just do Shadow Creek.
<Random_Nerd> Okay, utter tangent, but does http://angelbase.com/main/strategic-questions/technology.php not seem like the writing of someone who was driven mad by a Greater Creation of Computer Science?
<Random_Nerd> Permit me to quote...
<Random_Nerd> Existing Technology:
<Random_Nerd> Three levels of user-data: "database", "record" and "data value".
<Random_Nerd> Angelbase:
<Random_Nerd> Seven levels of user-data: Global Mega-Database, angelic domain, database, lattice, record, partial record and datum.
<lazarus> I'll see you guys next week?
<Random_Nerd> Sure, Laz.
<Angelo> k Laz, bye!
<Angelo> you forgot to quote the lattice
<Angelo> oh, never mind
<lazarus> (Looks like Sara's schedule will settle on a Sunday and Monday off, so it shouldn't really conflict again)
<--| lazarus has left #Nobilis
<Angelo> yes, is really fitting
<Angelo> just going into another tangent how is the WAR gild going?
<BethE> Is data value and datum supposed to equal each other?
<Random_Nerd> Well, when last I heard.
<Angelo> eh, ^^
<Random_Nerd> And Beth, I'm more worried about the Global Mega-Database and Angelic Domain.
<Random_Nerd> I'm trying to get it so it'll run okay when I can't be active, and it seems to be working so far.
<Angelo> oh nice to hear.
<Angelo> Your is a growing guild then
<Random_Nerd> So it would appear.
<Angelo> is a shame I’m not in mmrpg
-->| Knockwood (~chatzilla@71.94.75.IP) has joined #Nobilis
<Knockwood> Hi guys
<Angelo> Hi Knock!
<Random_Nerd> They can be fun, if you like that sort of thing.
<Random_Nerd> Hey, Knock.
<BethE> (Bah. If the databases were parts of your game, dear, The Global one would be Creator or Universe level.)
=-= Mode #Nobilis +o Knockwood by Angelo
<Angelo> Cneph?
<Random_Nerd> I'm pretty sure that the Angelbase is what Barakiel will start on if the whole "save the universe" thing falls through.
<Angelo> but you can't put human inside the db
<BethE> (Angels don't know the word can't...)
<Random_Nerd> Anyway, let's get to the game. Any questions before we start?
=-= BethE is now known as Theresa
<Angelo> none
=-= Knockwood is now known as DanteE
<Theresa> What were we doing? I know that Ftisk had made an Angelic Barbie...
<DanteE> Where were we?
<DanteE> Oh, wait...
<DanteE> I remember, I wanted to check what we know about what's going on, and what's IC vs. OOC.
=-= YOU are now known as Ftisk
<Ftisk> We go to talk to an excru shard
<Ftisk> Ftisk created a barbie before that
<Random_Nerd> If memory serves, you're in the restaurant where you met the shard, and then Dante talked with an Anchor.
<DanteE> The paperwork thing is handled off-screen, right?
<Ftisk> that hide in his place away from Gnomely’s eyes
<Random_Nerd> Unless you want it to be otherwise.
<DanteE> Any difficulty there?
<Ftisk> also we speak to an anchor that was in the restaurant
<Random_Nerd> Not really. There are about fifty different ways a Noble could solve that problem without even using direct miracles.
<Random_Nerd> The issue was that there are considerably less than fifty ways that a Warmain Shard can solve it without leaving a trail of bodies.
<DanteE> OK, how long before our big Court appearance?
<Random_Nerd> A couple days, right? Under a week, at least.
<DanteE> You guys mind if we just check on what we know OOC?
<Random_Nerd> If you want, sure.
<Theresa> It's okay with me.
<Ftisk> uhm, ok, but we can do this IC even
<DanteE> OK... now, what specifically did Lady Entropy ask us to do?
<Random_Nerd> Let me look up the exact wording.
<Ftisk> Her ask us to bring evidence on the wall traversing and memory losing thing ... I believe
<DanteE> we've got part of it, they wanted us to produce James at earliest opportunity
<Theresa> Hmm...we don't have to bring presents to the Council, right?
<DanteE> Session 110, all
<Ftisk> I believe a report will suffice
<Random_Nerd> Anything you discover about this is to be told to Ha Qadosh Berakha and also to myself."
<Random_Nerd> Is what Entropy said.
<Random_Nerd> Specifically, talking about memory gaps due to passing through the Wall.
<Random_Nerd> Or, the announcement...
<Random_Nerd> "It is the decree of the Council of Four that any information the Powers of Courage, Plants, The Triad, Blue Shock, and Conceptual Tint discover about the Weirding Wall's effect on memory is to be at once reported to Ymera Entropy and Ymera Ha-Quadosh Berakha!"
<Theresa> Good thing you Anchored your gnome, or you'd have to turn him over as Council evidence.
<DanteE> (He still might...)
<Ftisk> eh, nice side effect ^^
<Ftisk> effect
<Ftisk> well Gnomelly will surely want come
<DanteE> OK, we know coming through the wall puts big holes in your memory...
<Ftisk> and that this happen both ways
<DanteE> ... true, we have the telemetry from the gnome when he went through
<Ftisk> also we know that memory is a "this side of the wall" thing (also on the telemetry)
<DanteE> and we have testimony from James...
<Random_Nerd> But you also know that it isn't just simply a memory swiss-cheeser. It's an effect of a more involved situation.
<Ftisk> right
<DanteE> of course, we seem to have determined that the current 'James' isn't the original
<Ftisk> but is alt wall "clone"
<Random_Nerd> For certain values of "the individual".
<Random_Nerd> (Err, original.)
<DanteE> OK, time for a nice big Rule Zero risk...
<DanteE> how well is the council going to take the news that the bad guys they've been fighting and struggling against aren't all there?
<Random_Nerd> Each individual in the council will take it differently.
<Ftisk> can you explain aren't all there?
<DanteE> The people from over there have swiss-cheesed memory.
<Theresa> I can see Entropy preening at the Warmain's opinion on him.
<Random_Nerd> Oh! I thought of a good comparison for how Excrucian thought processes Outside work, without involving thought as such. Have you read the 'purse snatching' thread in Tangency?
<DanteE> It's like saying 'BTW, those guys who've been stalemating you in chess are lobotomy patients."
<Random_Nerd> That's not entirely accurate.
<Random_Nerd> Like, Deep Blue doesn't think any more than people Outside do.
<Random_Nerd> But it's still really good at chess.
<Random_Nerd> Probably inhumanly good, these days.
<Ftisk> ok they think in alien way and patterns then
<Random_Nerd> http://forum.rpg.net/showpost.php?p=10537199&postcount=24
<Random_Nerd> Let's say that they don't think, per se, but they do something else.
<Random_Nerd> Like how helicopters don't flap their wings, but that doesn't mean they can't get off the ground.
<DanteE> ah, so they still have the skills, then
<Random_Nerd> More or less.
<DanteE> But it would seem they don't remember _Why_ they're here
<Random_Nerd> And the one Excrucian type that relies most on this, the Strategists, are the most diminished when they come to Creation.
<Random_Nerd> That is correct.
<DanteE> I'm also trying to 'firewall', i.e., keep our IC and OOC knowledge separate...
<Random_Nerd> But part of the thing is that your drives, emotional tendencies, unconscious priorities and so on, those stay the same when you cross over.
<DanteE> fr'ex, it's OOC knowledge that they're having their own apocalypse over there, but IC that something seems to be driving them here... right?
<Random_Nerd> So, if Dante went Outside, he might not set out to do the exact things he'd planned to, but he'd still be honest, and pick fights with authority figures, and so forth.
<Theresa> Why don't we get the shards that like pina coladas and the beach? Or do those not exist Outside either?
<Random_Nerd> Well, IC you at least know that something weird is happening out there, that particularly affects Warmains.
<Random_Nerd> Well, those types of being tend not to be Excrucians.
<DanteE> What do we know about the Ex that attacked Jaris?
<Ftisk> *If* we believe the shard
<Random_Nerd> Not much, I don't think.
<Random_Nerd> "Excrucian" is in effect a way of saying "Powerful being from outside reality that wants to get into our base and kill our mans."
<DanteE> Good point... the Shard could be pulling our collective leg
<Random_Nerd> So, things from Outside that don't act like that don't get called Excrucians.
<Ftisk> like jeevees
<Ftisk> or the wasp
<Random_Nerd> Yeah. In some ways, Jeeves is on roughly the same power level as a really lame sub-PC-level Noble. He can do certain miracles, at least.
<Random_Nerd> And if Shadows gets better, he'll some day be able to summon Noble-equivalent beings. But they won't be Shards, at least unless he deliberately tries for that and gets lucky.
<DanteE> What's his current level?
<DanteE> (Finally dug up my hardcopy of UF)
<Random_Nerd> On the verge of rating 3, I believe.
<Random_Nerd> And with more spirit MPs than the default 5.
<Ftisk> I wonder is the contrary possible? Some day one of us can be Hs outside the wall?
<DanteE> So... what do we tell Entropy?
<Random_Nerd> Jeeves, for instance is one of the Diplura.
<Ftisk> We can tell all the stuff on the memory gap that the telemetry let us uncover + show them Gnomely
<Random_Nerd> And the Wasp is of the Hymenoptera.
<DanteE> (Don't give RN ideas, he might have Entropy shoot your gnome for fun...)
<Theresa> We tell Entropy about the Cneph promise, that they want their stuff back and also that we need better terms for the divisions of Those From Outside.
<Random_Nerd> (Oh, and Shadows could summon bigger creatures than these, but he prefers to spend his MPs on making them more helpful and loyal, rather than on summoning powerful but irate creatures.)
<Theresa> (Bah, if Entropy tries to shoot Gnomey, throw Dante in front of the gnome.)
<Ftisk> (nice suggestion T!)
<DanteE> (Well, she does like me...)
<Ftisk> but we must say that the division of estate came from only one source
<DanteE> huh?
<Ftisk> and that the source can be not trustworthy
<DanteE> ah
<Ftisk> (sorry stupid habit to hit return when a line go off screen)
<DanteE> Come to think of it... what parts of our investigation could we get into trouble for?
<Theresa> True, we don't have a lot of citations for our data but it's what we've got.
<Ftisk> none!
<DanteE> (We may need a lawyer...)
<Ftisk> (RN are you free for the council meeting? :-P )
<Random_Nerd> Well, you happen to have some contacts with the group that provides the best legal support for Council matters...
<Random_Nerd> The Cams.
<Ftisk> the watcher or the camorrae?
<Ftisk> oh
<Theresa> *TWITCH*
<Ftisk> I second Theresa
<DanteE> and Ftisk has a point... after dealing with base concepts of reality and avatars-of-entropy PCs, dealing with lawyers & judges will be cake. :)
<Random_Nerd> Heck, if they really like you, they can declare that anything you did was cool because it was helping them.
<Random_Nerd> Ah, but remember who the judges in question would be.
<Ftisk> isn't lord/lady Entropy?
<Random_Nerd> Yep. Him, Ananda, Surolam, and Ha-Quadosh.
<DanteE> ...OK, do we want to deal with the Cams, or wing it?
<Ftisk> I'm for deal with cams so we can have more interesting lives ^^
<Theresa> Uhhh.... I dunno. Dante and Theresa have both paid off their dues to the Camms...right?
<DanteE> I did when we helped out Jaris...
<Ftisk> Dante I remember, Theresa I don't remember
<Random_Nerd> I think you're both free and clear at the moment.
<Theresa> Ah, okay, I still have debt them. I couldn't remember who paid back with the Jaris thing.
<DanteE> That started with an ogre visiting me, remember
<Random_Nerd> That sounds right.
<Ftisk> so Theres have debts, Dante is clear, Ftisk never meet them
<Theresa> Hmm...was it possible that doing the big help with Jaris helped both of our debts?
<DanteE> ... then again, it was Theresa creating a forest that enabled us to evacuate the Chancel...
<Random_Nerd> Both of you did miracles then, I believe.
<Random_Nerd> So I believe you both cleared your debts.
<DanteE> So, we may be the only Nobles in Creation that don't owe anything to the Cammorrae
<Random_Nerd> Nah, lots owe nothing.
<Random_Nerd> Lots have the Cams owe /them/ favors.
<Ftisk> O.o this is plain wrong!
<Theresa> I'm just not good at haggling.  :) And it makes sense...if the Cams can do whatever they want, it's worth it getting them to owe you favors.
<DanteE> Well, wait, they just wanted me to boost their courage so they could be controlled. Didn't say anything about evacuating.
<Random_Nerd> Since I'm pretty sure either way that you're both clear, I'm going to put the GM Fiat hat on and say that that's how it is.
<DanteE> OK
<Random_Nerd> If you wish to present me with persuasive arguments to the effect that you actually owe them still, feel free.
<DanteE> can we convince you that they owe us?
<Random_Nerd> Yes, but on the condition that Kudzu is replaced with Barakiel as your Imperator.
<Theresa> I think the ogre likes us but he doesn't owe us.
<Theresa> Do we get Jeeves as well as the Angel?
<Random_Nerd> Jeeves will take the role of Entropy's judicial clerk.
<DanteE> Barakiel is at least predictable...
<Ftisk> btw there is a cam office in Amyra right?
<DanteE> oh yeah
<Random_Nerd> Yes there is.
<Theresa> Yep. We got that, and then we got Aides.
<Random_Nerd> So, shall we go in-character?
<Theresa> Hmm, there's a thought....Aides lawyers.
<Random_Nerd> We've rehashed what you know, so now it's a matter of what to do.
<Random_Nerd> Many Aides are lawyers. Neither of yours, though.
<DanteE> I think we've got it
<Random_Nerd> But you could probably call in a legal expert from them, if you could do something in return.
<Ftisk> ah, Sam and Will ... how much they know each other?
<Random_Nerd> They just wouldn't have access to the loopholes Entropy handed the Cams.
<Random_Nerd> Sam and William have known each other for two years or so.
<Random_Nerd> And worked closely together for at least one year of that time.
<Ftisk> well some Aides lawyers is better that nothing I believe
<Ftisk> (thank RN)
<Theresa> Okay, I think I'm ready.
<Random_Nerd> Let's start with you guys back home.
<Ftisk> k, we can go IC!
<Random_Nerd> _______________START_______________________
<Random_Nerd> In the meeting room. Sam, explaining to William: "And the Shard really seemed to worry about how the wife of the guy he killed was doing, but he didn't seem to know why."
<Random_Nerd> William: "Odd. Do they normally do that?"

  • DanteE is typing up a report...
  • Ftisk is in Brian lab working on Ofaniel doll v.215

<Theresa> "Well, a warmain can take on the face of their defeated enemy as a sign of respect and can also respect some promises made by that person but this...was weird. She seemed weirder out by it too. I'm just mad at their Family."
<DanteE> "Why's that?"
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Yeah, I tried not to ask too much about that. Some places, you stick your nose in, it gets chopped off."
<Random_Nerd> Sam glances at William for a moment. William nods./
<DanteE> "It may be that all they know is that their Brother was lost."
<Ftisk> (and don't care a inch for the relatives)
<DanteE> "Anyone talk to James lately?"
<Theresa> "They left her hanging out to dry. I understood it that she was nothing to them."
<Theresa> (Did we bring him home or going to pick him up?)
<DanteE> (If we brought him home Kudzu might eat him)
<Ftisk> (He prefer to remain on the moon)
<Random_Nerd> He's on the Moon.
<DanteE> "I'm writing up what we'll be telling the Council.
<DanteE> "William, Sam, you two want to review it and tell us how much trouble we're courting?"
<Theresa> "Haven't talked to James but no news is pretty good."
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "We can try, at least."

  • Theresa coughs and smiles at Dante's choice of words.

<Random_Nerd> William: "No promises when it comes to predicting Entropy, though."

  • DanteE prints it... "Rough draft."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "I'm pretty sure that if you /do/ become able to consistently predict Entropy's actions, he grabs you and keeps you in a box for when he's too lazy to decide what to do."
<Random_Nerd> William: "That was a special case, I don't think he does that every time."
<Ftisk> (O.o nice!)
<DanteE> "... who got grabbed?"
<Random_Nerd> William: "Power of... I forget what, exactly. Wasn't Prophecy, but something similar."
<DanteE> "When was that?"
<Random_Nerd> William: "Ten years or so ago."
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "So, anyway. What's the draft say?"
<DanteE> "Go ahead and read it there..."

  • Ftisk enter the meeting room "hey! Ten years ago what?"

<Random_Nerd> (So... uh, what does it say?)
<DanteE> "Short version: coming through the Wall puts big holes in your memory...
<DanteE> "and it seems to work both ways.
<DanteE> "We also have the telemetry from the gnome and the conversation with alt-Shadows via Active Writing."
<Ftisk> (and the speculations?)
<DanteE> "And we have a separate report on our guesses as to what happened on the day Sakharoth reappeared and Jaris was attacked,
<DanteE> "including what the Shard told us."
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "I don't think this will get you killed. Just... don't antagonize Entropy."
<DanteE> "Which means it's our Best Guess As To What It's All About. Maybe I should build a church."

  • DanteE passes the reports around.

<DanteE> "Anyone have anything to add ... or remove?"
<Ftisk> "I can add the wife side memory on the report... can these be useful?"
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "How do you think Ha'Quadosh will take it?"
<DanteE> "Well, I did put in that section saying that, while they don't remember their motivation, they do retain their skills."
<Theresa> "Don't know. He seemed amazed by what we said last time...do we know any of his opinions about the Folks from Outside?
<Theresa> "
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Well, he is Wild."
<DanteE> "I wonder how they'll react to the Active Writing communication channel"
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "As in Magister Of, not as in Imperators Gone."

  • DanteE tries not to think about Kudzu flashing...

<Random_Nerd> William: "Yes, that part will be the tricky aspect. But the practice of high summoning is considered legal, and in a sense you were just talking with another Noble."
<DanteE> "They do know Shadows summons stuff, right?"
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Probably. Shadowses always summon, as I understand it."
<Theresa> "True, being a Wildlord himself is one thing but I don't know how he might take the thought that the Wild Imperators are simply Outsiders who came in and liked the place and decided to pay rent while staying."
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Shadowii? Shadows-s?"
<DanteE> to Sam: "Don't think about it. It's like that grammar book mentioned in the Hitchhiker's Guide books."
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "I'm sticking with Shadowses until I hear otherwise."
<Random_Nerd> William: "I would like the record to reflect that I'm not making any Smeagol jokes at this time."
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "But yes, they almost certainly know."
<DanteE> "So... with this, are we ready to appear before the Council?"
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Maybe!"

  • Theresa looks at William. "I didn't know you had read Lord of the Rings. I thought that was more along the line of Sam's jurisdiction."

<DanteE> "They know we're coming, right?
<Theresa> "Oh, something else we have to decide...what are we going to _wear_. Especially if we have to give them to someone else again."
<Random_Nerd> Yeah, you sent a notice.
<DanteE> "That's right, we might wind up with more hell-bound."
<Theresa> (One does not simple _walk_ into the Council...)
<Random_Nerd> William: "Please don't flirt with Entorpy this time."
<Ftisk> "I can make a boy just for the meeting!"
<DanteE> "_She_ flirted with _me!_"
<Theresa> "Yeah, Dante, please." *grin*
<Ftisk> body
<Theresa> (You can make a boy too.)
<DanteE> (I wondered for a second, Ftisk... :)
<Ftisk> (lol)
<Random_Nerd> William: "In Entropy's defense, we saw how you were dressed."
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Yeah! You totally had it coming."
<Random_Nerd> William: "You slut."
<Random_Nerd> (That last bit was totally deadpan.)
<Theresa> (Good, because otherwise...)
<DanteE> "Ahem. That being said..."
<Ftisk> (jump to the meeting?)
<Theresa> (Sounds good. I pick a nice understated black dress, please. With flats.)
<DanteE> (Good, because I'd look goofy in it...)\
<Random_Nerd> (I'm fine with jumping to the meeting if you are.)
<DanteE> (Sure, why not)
<Random_Nerd> (It's about two days from the current date, so tell me later if you want to have been doing anything during downtime.)
<Ftisk> (ok, baggage: Gnomely.. check, 215.. check, toothbrush.. check.. oil.. chek... )
<Random_Nerd> As before, you have to wait for hours outside before it's your turn to speak to the Council of Four.
<Random_Nerd> At least once, you're pretty sure you hear the sound of locusts, excited ogres, and very excited nimblejacks.
<DanteE> (Don't nimblejacks default to pretty excited?)
<Ftisk> "Ouch... that sound like a bad thing!"
<Random_Nerd> The building in which Court is being held today is made entirely from the bones of cows, and is buried about a mile and a half underground in Scotland.
<DanteE> "James, how are you holding up?"
<Random_Nerd> James: "Not feeling any strange and unearthly excrucian urges."
<Theresa> (How can we tell bones of cows as opposed to other bones?)
<DanteE> "... let us know if you do..."
<Ftisk> Gnomely paces in the waiting room
<Random_Nerd> (You're Nobles. Aspect 0 Cow-Bone-Spotting suffices.)
<Theresa> (Ah. And did we bring Sam or William?)
<Random_Nerd> (Besides, one of the ogre-baliffs spent at least two hours talking about how delicious the cows were.)
<Random_Nerd> (I don't know, did you?)
<Theresa> (*to others* Did we bring anyone with us?)
<Ftisk> (We want some lawyers don't we?)
<Ftisk> (just in case...)
<Theresa> (Yes, but Sam and William aren't lawyers. They looked over our notes but didn't see anything that would drastically get us in trouble.)
<DanteE> (We did unless they specifically requested something safer)
<Random_Nerd> (Both of them?)
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "So, I don't get it. They made this whole place, just to have the Council meet in, and they'll probably never use it again?"
<Ftisk> (Will and maybe Sam)
<Theresa> (Both is good with me. Sam knows to keep his trap shut in front of the Council, yes?)
<Random_Nerd> William: "And if that is the strangest thing that you see today, you're lucky. Remember not to look at, around, or anywhere near Ananda."
<Theresa> "Such is the way of Imperators."
<Random_Nerd> (Sam and William took classes in "Not Getting Eaten By Angry Gods.")
<DanteE> "And just think of the reputation boost you'll get from the Aides."
<Theresa> (What grade did Sam get?)
<Random_Nerd> (Step 1: Do Not Taunt Happy Fun Divinity.)
<Theresa> "If they survive. But then again, if they don't, we're in a lot of trouble and we would be sad."
<Random_Nerd> An ogre walks up to you. His breath smells of raw meat and blood, and the rest of him smells of ogre, which is frankly rather worse.
<Ftisk> "We can always trade to resurrect them"
<Random_Nerd> Ogre: "You guys Locus Amyra?"
<Random_Nerd> (err, Locus Kudzu.)
<Theresa> "Yep."
<DanteE> "Yes."
<Ftisk> "I'm not technically but Yes"
<Ftisk> G: I'm with them
<Random_Nerd> Ogre: "Come on in."
<Random_Nerd> As he walks across the bones, they make creaking sounds, like an old house in a storm.

  • Ftisk to G: don't. I repeat don't look to Ananda!

<Random_Nerd> Gnomesby: "But I literally exist for the sole purpose of exploring and experiencing probably-lethal things!"
<DanteE> "Yeah, but if your head explodes they'll make us clean up"
<Ftisk> "Problably is the key... he is SURELY lethal
<Random_Nerd> William pulls a blindfold from his jacket pocket, and puts it on. Sam adjusts the positioning of his head-scarves.
<Random_Nerd> Gnome: "Oh, fine."
<Ftisk> "nice idea"

  • Ftisk createa gnome blindfold

<Random_Nerd> You are brought into a large chamber. In it, four large piles of horned cow skulls occupy prominent places, and each has an... individual sitting on it.
<Random_Nerd> Above the room is a balcony packed with listeners, mostly humanoid.

  • Theresa is poised.

<Random_Nerd> In the middle of the bone floor, there's a nasty red stain, which seems to be mostly clotted.
<Random_Nerd> Okay, descriptions of the four Councilors.
<Random_Nerd> Ananda is, as always, indescribable.
<Random_Nerd> Not in the sense that Barakiel's nobles are, but through vocabulary not being sufficient.
<Random_Nerd> Surolam looks exactly the same, in the form of a roughly hammered silver statue.
<Random_Nerd> Ha'Quadosh seems to have taken the form of a large, dead, and rotting dog, slumped on his pile of skulls.
<Random_Nerd> And of Entropy, the only parts visible are the blood-dripping hands, and bloodshot eyes.
<Random_Nerd> A Different Ogre From The One Who Led You In: *waves a staff made of cow spine and skull* "The Nobles of Locus Kudzu, And Guests!"
<Theresa> (Uh...what's the rest of him covered in? Shadows? Uh, shadows, I mean.)
<Random_Nerd> (Of Entropy, the rest seems to be present, but really nondistinct.
<Random_Nerd> Like the Nobles of Soul-Twisted Imperators, except that those few details are crystal clear.
<Random_Nerd> Ha'Quadosh, in a horrible croak of a voice: "What have you learned?"
<Theresa> (Ah. Sorry, Dante, booty call is probably out of the picture. Probably.)
<DanteE> (Bummer.)
<Theresa> (Can we have the spirit of our report speak for itself?)
<Random_Nerd> (They'd probably take that as an insult. But we can have one of you just read off what you said earlier.)
<DanteE> (Of shoes and ships and sealing-wax, of cabbages and kings...)

  • Theresa will read off the high points of our report.

<Random_Nerd> Surolam, its face momentarily cracking and then healing together as it speaks: "This Shard, do you trust it?"
<Ftisk> (here are we to remember Theresa, she was brave and speak before the council...)
<Theresa> "To a point. It would be more insane that usual to completely trust a Shard. But his actions were out of normal character enough for a warmain to merit consideration."
<DanteE> (Nice answer!)
<Ftisk> (Thumbs up!)
<Random_Nerd> Ha'Quadosh, to Dante: "Thos 'James', do you trust it?"
<Theresa> (I get one good line about once every month or so.  :) )
<Random_Nerd> (Oh, and are you guys standing on the locust-produced stain, or off of it?)
<DanteE> "James remembered us as his brothers and sister, and his words rang true. I believe as far as his memory let him go, he was sincere."
<Ftisk> G: is on the stain, looking at it
<Theresa> (Is it in the very middle of the room?)
<DanteE> (Ah, where is it? Out of respect and protocol we're probably right in the center of the chamber...)

  • Ftisk near G looking worrisome at him

<Random_Nerd> (Pretty much. A little off-center, as it seems that the stainee tried to run or at least stumble.)
<Random_Nerd> (Did you guys state your theory that James was a Summoning Fetch?)
<Theresa> (Then trying to be where we were indicated to stand but trying to be respectful to the blood pile.)
<DanteE> (It was in the report...)
<Random_Nerd> (Okay.)
<Random_Nerd> Ananda, to James: "Do you believe that you are one of those extra personas created for the form of summoning external creatures?"
<Random_Nerd> James: "I don't know."
<Random_Nerd> Entropy remains silent, blood dripping from his hands onto his little skull-couch.

  • Ftisk ldiv data to look for the stain creation's causes

<Random_Nerd> Surolam, to everyone: "Give your thoughts on the nature of the Warmain eccentricity on [the day the weird stuff happened]."
<Random_Nerd> (The stain is the earthly remains of the Power of Livestock Theft.)
<DanteE> to Theresa: "Want me to take this one?"
<Ftisk> (can I know why the stain was created?)
<Random_Nerd> (Because said Power antagonized the Council of Four, and they have very special locusts.)\
<Theresa> (Cattle rustling suddenly went out of style. But I hear the Power of Roadkill is gaining points...)
<Random_Nerd> (The nature of his offense can't be determined, as both his actions and those of the Council fall under anchorlike immunity.)
<Theresa> "We can probably all answer it."
<Theresa> "Just Warmains in general or the ones we met in person?"
<DanteE> "Yeah, but I was the one doing most of the theorizing."
<Random_Nerd> Surolam: "The general tendency. Or do you believe that it was a coincidence?"

  • Ftisk looks at Dante
  • Theresa bows her head to Dante to let him go ahead.
  • DanteE takes position in center and expounds on the activities of that day...

<DanteE> pointing out that something seems to be motivating them to enter Creation more than usual, based on the haphazard nature of the Warmain's attack.
<Random_Nerd> Surolam: "Explain your stance on why only Warmains acted oddly."
<Random_Nerd> Entropy seems to raise one hand and look at it, as if he's never seen a hand before.
<Random_Nerd> Or else he's really stoned.
<DanteE> (I figured they may have been an advance guard setting up a beachhead, right?)
<Theresa> (Because they're the closest to being like us. No offense to Entropy and his pseudostratness.)
<DanteE> (Quick, get us a copy of Dark Side of the Moon. :) )
<Theresa> (They take on the traits of those they kill and respect most. They're like Nobles/Imperators, just from the other side of the fence. Their miracles are also the closest to what we can do.)
<Random_Nerd> Entropy twitches, and then... it looks like his right eye vomited up a large mass of flesh and blood, like what you'd get if a few people got put through a mulcher.
<Theresa> (Whatever you do, don't set up a black light, a disco ball or get a bag of Doritos.)
<Random_Nerd> Ha'Quadosh makes a loud coughing noise, and two ogres spring to work cleaning up the floor.

  • DanteE tells them the 'beachhead' theory and Theresa's part...

<DanteE> "... ah ... are you all right?"
<Random_Nerd> Now, more of Entropy's face and arms are visible. He appears to have an unkept moustache, and to have some of the skin flayed from his arms.
<Theresa> (Eye strain. Visine'll...I can't even type with a straight face...)
<DanteE> (Yes, that was to Entropy, and yes, I'm taking a risk.)
<Random_Nerd> Entropy: "All right?"
<DanteE> "The spouting blood and body parts is a little unusual."
<Theresa> (Quick! Sneeze!)
<Ftisk> (you are CRAZY! like ... well, courage! :-P )
<Random_Nerd> Court Ogre, whispering: "Ymera Entropy, Lord Of This World, got in a fight with a full Strategist, while guarding the Wall, and is in the process of healing."
<DanteE> "Oh... did not know that."
<Random_Nerd> Entropy: "One of the Enemies filled my mind with dead people. I am in the process of ejecting them."
<Theresa> (He...sees dead people.... please, Sam, don't say anything...)
<Ftisk> (ohhhh, poor Entropy. Sympathy for him)
<DanteE> "My apologies, Ymera Entropy."
<DanteE> (Did we tell what the Shard said about the reason for the War yet?)
<Random_Nerd> Ananda: "The Warmain Shard you spoke to recounted a variation of a common myth. He identified Cneph with the being who bought a delay in the Enemy's attacks."
<Ftisk> (No, I don't tink)
<Random_Nerd> (I believe you did.)
<Random_Nerd> (If you didn't, remove Ananda's words."
<Random_Nerd> )
<Random_Nerd> (Did you, Dante?)
<DanteE> (Theresa?)
<Ftisk> (flip a coin?)
<Theresa> (It was probably in the report.)
<DanteE> (has it come up yet?)
<Ftisk> (ok, you presented the shard theory => war theory is inside)
<Random_Nerd> (That works. So Ananda said that.)
<DanteE> (Now... has Active Writing come up?)
<Random_Nerd> Ananda: "Snail-being. Describe your position on those events involving Warmains that you have seen in the last two weeks."
<Random_Nerd> (You've mentioned it, but haven't been asked about it in detail yet.)
<Theresa> (Snail being? Ftisk is a Noble!)
<Ftisk> "I was not her for the Warmaid attack on locus Jarvis but I help the Armya Nobles with the wall's memory theory"
<Theresa> (I am outraged on Ftisk's behalf against a guy I can't even look at!)
<Ftisk> (Ftisk have too much fear to react!)
<Ftisk> (He is not an Armya’s craz... aehm Noble :-P)
<Random_Nerd> Ananda: "How do you believe that Noble society should react to these incursions?"
<DanteE> (Wish I could help ya there...)
<DanteE> (That's a good question...)
<Ftisk> "We _must_ hold them out of the wall"
<Ftisk> "If possible infiltrate them and undermine their actions"
<Random_Nerd> Ananda: "Interesting. How would you go about that?"
<Ftisk> "My son, Gnomely was created with the purpose to go outside the wall and gather intelligence"
<DanteE> ("Son"?)
<Theresa> (I believe that the Noble society should be put on pause for a week so we can think about it.)
<Ftisk> (Yes, son, lover, anchor ... is complicated... ;-) )
<Random_Nerd> (You guys ready to stop soon? We seem to have slowed down.)
<Random_Nerd> Ananda, to all of you: "Much of what you discussed involves the Arts of Summoning. What connection do you believe they have to this?"
<Ftisk> (ok for me)
<Theresa> (Son, lover, anchor...uhh... Too much info, there.  :) )
<Theresa> (Okay on my end.)
<DanteE> (Hm...so, take a week to figure out what we said and what we should say?
<Ftisk> (eheh his an interesting Gnome to have around! :-D )
<Random_Nerd> (That works.)
<Random_Nerd> _____________STOP__________________________________
<Ftisk> (Bravo Dante!)
<Theresa> Awesome job tonight!
<DanteE> heh
=-= YOU are now known as Angelo
=-= Theresa is now known as BethE
=-= DanteE is now known as Knockwood

  • Angelo bow to the other players: "Greats!"

<Knockwood> You guys do realize what AW means big-picture wise, right?
<Angelo> maybe I was slowing down you. I'm not so quick at typing
<Angelo> AW can be a link to connect out and inside wall
<Knockwood> if we can consistently 'share' our Estates, then we can give them what they want while not hurting ourselves, and the war's over
<BethE> Active Writing is a sign that both sides can coexist?
<Angelo> I'm not sure we can share without the estate being in some way altered
<Angelo> we are sure this AW is the same (bitwise same) as the older one?
<Knockwood> Either that, or the barrier's fading, and there's no need to share because everyone will have access
<Random_Nerd> Still, it does make some interesting possibilities available.
<Angelo> in each case the implications are staggering!
<Knockwood> Angelo: Well, the fact that we were able to communicate is promising
<Random_Nerd> Yeah, whether it's the barrier thing, or the unique circumstances around AW, something new has some about.
<Angelo> yes is a start
<Angelo> and we can copy the AW case an apply it to other estates.. maybe
<Knockwood> exactly
<Random_Nerd> Well, the tough part is copying it.
<Random_Nerd> So far, the only example of this happening that you have involves an Estate that was already lost.
<Random_Nerd> So, attempting to reproduce the effect should likely start there.
<Angelo> We have James
<Angelo> his estate is lost and returned
<Knockwood> No, his _estate_ didn't move, just him
<Knockwood> because we still had urbanization while he was gone
<Angelo> oh, right, right :-(
<Angelo> who want to sacrif//do a "simple" estate test?
<Random_Nerd> Urbanization was fine, throughout the whole James thing.
<Random_Nerd> But the interesting question is, what was the state of Urbanization Outside, while he was there?
<Angelo> ok, we can ask the aidee for others lost estates and Giulio have other estate that are back into creation
<Knockwood> OK, so one possible next step is checking the copy integrity of Active Writing
<Knockwood> you mean Gaius?
<Angelo> yes Ceasar
<Knockwood> We got his other estates... 'magic weapons' and 'applied character'
<Angelo> Gaio Giulio Cesare == Gaius Julius caesar
<Knockwood> (AFK a minute...)

<Angelo> going on a tangent
<Angelo> you two (RN and Beth) are EVIL!
<Angelo> I never watched a Buffy episode but after reading a bunch of SC the desire is dawning on me....
<BethE> *blink* When?  :)
<Random_Nerd> Oh?
<BethE> *bow* I'm glad that you like the game so much.  :)
<Angelo> is all your (Nelson, Billy, GM, etc etc) fault
<Random_Nerd> It is a fun show.
<Angelo> your or the tv one?
<Random_Nerd> The real one.
<Angelo> eh, I hope so
<Random_Nerd> Not every episode is good, and it takes a while to really get going, but the best episodes are really good.
<Angelo> now there is a season that is better that other or one to avoid? (just ot optimize money)
<Random_Nerd> Hmm.
<Knockwood> (back)
<Random_Nerd> The last one is pretty bad.
<Angelo> last is what 8?
<Knockwood> Isn't a lot of the series on hulu.com?
<Random_Nerd> And the first is weak, but you rather need it to establish the characters.
<Random_Nerd> Probably.
<Angelo> k
<Angelo> @Knok: I'm asking info on Buffy
<Random_Nerd> http://www.hulu.com/buffy-the-vampire-slayer
<BethE> Season 3 is the best. Season 2 and 1 not too bad. Season 4 had one awesome episode, same with season 6. Season 5...haard to describe.
<Random_Nerd> Seasons 1 through 3 are up there.
<Random_Nerd> Don't know if Hulu works in Italy, though.
<Angelo> k, but I'll go for the one with Italian audio. I'll search locally in some shops
<Knockwood> ah yeah
<Random_Nerd> Makes sense.
<Angelo> but is finished or there is an x season in production?
<Random_Nerd> It's finished.
<Angelo> x= random number
<Random_Nerd> Huh. I wonder how well Buffy does in translation. So much of the humor has to do with a particular style of dialogue.
<Angelo> uhm... I don't know
<Angelo> but will discover
<Knockwood> very true, it both fed off and changed US teen slang, I think
<Angelo> witch style?
<Random_Nerd> Well, it's kind of its own thing.
<Random_Nerd> Rather than using real slang, they more or less made up their own kind, with a lot of particular patterns of sentence structure and the like.
<Angelo> interesting. But is stuff easily lost in traslation.
<Knockwood> figured as much
<Random_Nerd> A lot probably depends on how good the translators are.
<Angelo> we have the BEST translators in the world!. Blink.
<BethE> Well, guys, I need to get some sleep. Fantastic session! *HUGS*  :)
<Knockwood> Then again, you could always hear it in the original English, couldn't you?
<Knockwood> g'night Beth
<Angelo> really great session indeed
<Angelo> night Beth *hug*
<Random_Nerd> Later, all.
<Random_Nerd> Good session.
|<-- BethE has left irc2.magicstar.net (Connection reset by peer)
<Angelo> yes, I can do, maybe with ita subtitles
<Angelo> night RN!

<Angelo> One question RN
<Random_Nerd> Yes?
<Angelo> next session with Laz playing, he will be with us right?
<Random_Nerd> I believe so.
<Random_Nerd> Unless something else comes up.
<Angelo> ok ^^
<Knockwood> Can he be retconned into the Council chamber with us? :)
<Angelo> I think is the smoothest possible solution
<Random_Nerd> Yeah, I think that's probably for the best.
<Random_Nerd> And it could be done without any real retcons.
<Random_Nerd> I didn't have anyone refer to everyone by name, and I don't think anything rules out his presence.
<Angelo> yes, he just stay quiet till now
<Angelo> well I leave you to meta-metaplay and head to my bed. Good night!
<Random_Nerd> See you next week.
<Knockwood> and I'll head out too.
<Knockwood> gnight Angelo...
<Knockwood> and you too RN
<Random_Nerd> Good job this session, guys.

  • Angelo bows
