<BethE> Hi Angelo! *HUG*
<Angelo> Hi Beth!
<Angelo> *Counterhug!*
<BethE> How are you?
<Angelo> fine. I'm dead 20 years ago and I don't know and you?!?
<BethE> You type remarkably well for someone who's been dead for 20 years.  :)
<Angelo> Eh, a doctor diagnosticed a bad cancer on me... but for something I have had for 20 years... so if I have cancer I would be death 20y ago :-P
<BethE> *blink* Wow. So, like a mole on your skin?
<Random_Nerd> Hey.
<Angelo> HI RN!
<Random_Nerd> I got your email, Angelo. It'll be nice to see the next book when it comes out.
<Angelo> How are you RN?
<Angelo> Oh, I wait for it... but don't hold my breath
<Random_Nerd> Would it be wrong for me to say that I've had the first draft for years?
<Angelo> no, why?... Great mind thinks alike after all :-P
<Angelo> HI Knock!
<Knockwood> Sorry I'm late
<BethE> Hi Knock!
<Angelo> no pro I was early... we balance in a fine and just way!
<Random_Nerd> Hey, Knock.
<BethE> *grabs some supper*
<Angelo> Question to RN: I feel that my Ftisk's Data and your Ftisk's Data a re different can you describe your view?
<Angelo> oh... is never pleasant
<Random_Nerd> Hmm.
<Random_Nerd> My general view is that data is "information encoded in some kind of symbols." Naturally occurring symbols like DNA and the like count, as do man-made ones.
<Random_Nerd> How do you define it?
<Angelo> my definition is and kind of knowledge stored in some way
<Random_Nerd> Hmm. What do you mean by "knowledge" and "stored"?
<Knockwood> they sound close
<Angelo> stored mean in some type of support from a mind of some one to the word on a book
<Random_Nerd> Hmm. So, your version wouldn't include DNA.
<Knockwood> but does include thoughts
<Random_Nerd> What about computers? Does data produced by a program running on its own count, as long as the program was designed by someone with a mind?
<Random_Nerd> Well, I don't see thoughts as "stored."
<Knockwood> memories, then
<Angelo> thought are not in Data but memories are
<Angelo> a file on a pc is in data. the ongoing elaboration not
<Random_Nerd> Memories, yeah. I can see that.
<Angelo> Going to the game, the HS redux you say Ftisk can do from the Shadow's notes... well I don't fell It is in data
<Random_Nerd> Hmm. Why not?
<Angelo> Is going to verify if a piece is true or false or partial, but data don't have the validation inside... I fell, is all data true or false that a single piece will be
<Random_Nerd> So, let's see. Whether a piece of knowledge is factual or not has nothing to do with whether it's data.
<Random_Nerd> Oh, hey. While normal DNA wouldn't qualify, genetically engineered stuff probably would.
<Angelo> Yes, I see in that way. If someone reminds a fact the fact can be retrieved with data. If someone have implanted false thought these are the same for a lDiv of Data that true thought
<Knockwood> that makes sense, from a certain viewpoint.
<Random_Nerd> Hmm. But for memories, you could tell whether the person actually believed them, and what they thought of them. Because that fact is part of what's stored.
<Angelo> Yes, but If I implant into someone false memories then I try to make them more believable possible. If that person believe in it these have equal status as true memories for data
<Random_Nerd> Yeah. A lesser creation of data could give people false memories that they would believe in.
<Random_Nerd> But couldn't directly change what they were thinking at the time.
<Angelo> yes
<Random_Nerd> And, hmm.
<Random_Nerd> Memories of something that isn't at least close to as smart as human would be problematic.
<Random_Nerd> Would probably depend on a case-by-case basis on the animal in question.
<Angelo> my point was that Data Domain don't have inside itself a mean to validate true o false data.
<Knockwood> so, W's autobiography would cause problems? :D
<Angelo> who is W?
<Random_Nerd> The former US president.
<Knockwood> our last president
<Random_Nerd> Who, by happy chance, does not exist in this game's setting.
<Angelo> oh, I don't know the short fot it
<Knockwood> he doesn't?
<Random_Nerd> Nope.

  • Random_Nerd waves a magic salmon and makes it so.

<BethE> Sounds fishy to me.
<Random_Nerd> This campaign of Nobilis, at least.
<BethE> So, did we finish out the Chapter last session? I went to bed before you guys finished all of the talking.
<Knockwood> Anyway... I've been debating whether we should just go ahead and turn ourselves into combat monsters
<Random_Nerd> Most of you have at least a decent defensive Gift.
<Knockwood> (and in Nobilis that could be literal...)
<Angelo> you were asking to make the chancell HS friendly
<Angelo> and to Beth, no the chapter was not finished
<Knockwood> well, it turns out we'd need, what, 3 Chancel Points to do that?
<Random_Nerd> The general combat-ability layout for a Noble involves at least one defensive gift, and at least one offensive gift that can injure Durant people.
<Angelo> Ftisk is not even durant
<Random_Nerd> Oh, something I wanted to put in the r-map. Do you guys recall in which session, or at least which chapter, you guys heard the list of Luc's former Nobles?
<Random_Nerd> I wanted to make sure I had the list right.
<Angelo> but have plan to eat a mimic's heart! :-P
<Knockwood> Alternatively, if we’re smart about talking complimentary abilities, we could be an amazing investigative team
<BethE> But Ftisk is all cute and stuff. Who would want to hurt him?  ;) Besides Entropy.
<Random_Nerd> That, you basically already are.
<Knockwood> reminds me: ever find that missing session?
<BethE> And I have a question for the group...okay, so there's the Council. Who picked the Council and who picked Entropy as the head of the Council?
<Random_Nerd> Amusingly, Gnomesby is actually more durable than Ftisk.
<BethE> Nope, haven't heard from Sara about it. She's currently in the middle of wedding stuff; wedding is Sat.  :)
<Random_Nerd> You don't know the answer to that, Beth.
<Angelo> yes. I can leave F. at home and ride the anchor around
<Knockwood> yeah, but Gnomely can't do the junkyard transformer thing
<Angelo> right
<Random_Nerd> Correct.
<Angelo> too bad I’m "condemned" to go around with Ftisk then
<Angelo>... :-P
<Angelo> ah, the miracle to rebuild Gnomely can have be stronger if done differently?
<Angelo> The way this is done now is body destruction with included creation and preservation
<Knockwood> Ah... Chapter 3 sometime...
<Random_Nerd> Well, the way you did it included a Greater Preservation, if memory serves.
<Random_Nerd> Plus, he's an Anchor.
<Random_Nerd> So, that's about as durable as a non-Noble can get.
<BethE> (Plus, you would have to timeshare with the locusts. They probably munch popcorn during the good bits.)
<Random_Nerd> Now, he doesn't have an Auctoritas, and if someone removes his durability it's gone until Ftisk puts it back.
<Knockwood> ah... it was right at the beginning of Chapter 3. Remember, we were talking about Loc as part of you introducing the Aides
<Knockwood> *Luc
<Knockwood> Y'know, scratch combat ability, anyone crosses us and we can have Tpyo eat him
<Angelo> Bravo Knock!. But at the same price I can have made a Defect G destruction with included G preservation right? Would have changed something?
<Random_Nerd> Ah, there they are.
<Random_Nerd> Okay, so I was right, there were two intervening nobles between Former Shadows and the present.
<Random_Nerd> But they were short-lived ones.
<BethE> Weren't most of Luc's Nobles short-lived?
<Random_Nerd> Granted.
<Random_Nerd> But those two were a few months each.
<Angelo> Yes, usually a Luc's noble don't last much
<Knockwood> define 'short', where Nobles are involved
<Random_Nerd> In particular, the Power of the Arts who killed the previous Shadows got killed pretty fast.
<BethE> Hmm, a question. What codes did the previous Luc's Nobles follow?
<Random_Nerd> Both Arts ones were Heaven.
<Random_Nerd> Shadows-former was Light.
<Random_Nerd> Silver and the Ocean were serpentine.
<Random_Nerd> Dance was Wild.
<Knockwood> and the Arts thing was due to a duel...
<BethE> (Hmm...we don't know what code Current Shadows is, do we?)
<Angelo> Are all "positive" or neutral codes
<Knockwood> true Dark and Hell are missing
<Random_Nerd> Depends what you mean by that.
<Random_Nerd> Powers of the Dark are less likely to keep human anchors.
<Random_Nerd> At least, long-term.
<Random_Nerd> And I would argue with the characterization of Dark as "negative." They're certainly not so in the same way that Hell is, at least, or some of the more malign True God codes.
<Angelo> I see a dark power that hate anchor someone to torture it in a better way
<Random_Nerd> Ah, but the Dark don't tend to torture, or at least, no more than any other Code.
<Angelo> this is "negative" for me.
<Knockwood> there's a Darwinist twist to Light and Dark, really
<Angelo> Ops wrong interpretation on my side then.
<Random_Nerd> And it's useful to notice that Dark is the only code that really cares about individual humans as a matter of course.
<Random_Nerd> And they're also the ones who most strongly oppose murder.
<Random_Nerd> So... it's complicated.
<BethE> (Because they prefer suicide.)
<Random_Nerd> I'd call them no more evil than the Wild.
<Angelo> ok you sell it to me
<Knockwood> BTW, I've probably asked this before, but... can we assume you have The Answer (i.e., a detailed and extensive idea of what's happening and how the world works)?
<BethE> Hmm...I think that current Shadows is Light. What is Consequences?
<Random_Nerd> There are several Answers, not one big overarching one.
<Random_Nerd> But yes, I've worked out most of the big stuff some time ago.
<Random_Nerd> There are little details that are still up in the air, but they're not the really major stuff.
<Random_Nerd> Stuff like "What's Entropy's deal?" "What is the Big Plan for Barakiel?" "What's the deal with the Warmains and Kudzu?" and so forth, I have ironed out.
<Random_Nerd> Any other big questions you wanted to know if I had an answer for?
<BethE> Entropy's deal is a curse of Permanent Wedgie.
<Knockwood> ah... what happened to Luc's missing Nobles?
<Random_Nerd> I don't have specific fates for all eight of them.
<Random_Nerd> If they come up in play, I'll work out the details for the older ones.
<Knockwood> how about the 3 specifically listed as 'fates unknown'?
<Random_Nerd> Those, I don't have details for yet, but I know in general what happened to one of them, and at least some idea on the other two.
<Random_Nerd> Would you like me to flesh the others out more?
<Angelo> Eprot <-> Attaris crumbling affair! You know why and how it was done? I fell it is outside normal Nobilis rules
<Random_Nerd> I know what the deal is with each of the Imperators of the Ages.
<Random_Nerd> Well, the Most Ancient Lord is just "He got killed and was perhaps the most 'normal' of them."
<Random_Nerd> But more on Jan, Attaris, and Ananda.
<Knockwood> OK...
<BethE> Will Ananda be easier to look at once the Age is in swing?
<Random_Nerd> Let's see. The big issue I don't have a firm stance on is "what will the Fourth Age be like?"
<Random_Nerd> But that's because that remains to be determined.
<Knockwood> (cuz you intend to kill us before that even happens, right?  :) )
<Random_Nerd> Easier to look at in what fashion?
<Random_Nerd> After the Age starts, it will be clear which type of Imperator he is.
<Random_Nerd> But he may still be difficult to actually physically look at.
<BethE> Ah, that was the point I was wondering.
<Angelo> like if Barak plan carry on then there is 4 age type S (like salad) if don't succed but .... 4age will have type T (Tuna) flavor?
<Random_Nerd> Mmm! Tuna!
<Random_Nerd> And not just that.
<Angelo> we are shaping an AGE!!!! *BwaaaaaaAAAAAaaaaAAA*
<Random_Nerd> Depending on how Attaris triggers the change, and how Ananda wants things to go.
<Random_Nerd> And at least the Attaris thing you've already had some effect on.
<Knockwood> ... or possibly _if_ Attaris triggers the change?
<Random_Nerd> Indirectly some on Ananda, too, through your intereactions with the Council.
<Random_Nerd> Oh, true.
<Random_Nerd> It's not clear what will happen if she dies.
<Random_Nerd> Or just if she decides to stay home and get drunk instead of starting the End of the World.
<Knockwood> (You guys have seen the 'Must ... have ... Nobilis' thread, right?)
<Random_Nerd> No. Open?
<Knockwood> and that sounds like a plan...
<BethE> Theresa calls Not It on seducing Attaris and keeping her drunk and at home.
<BethE> (Did we ever decide whose Anchor Dick Clark is?)
<Knockwood> http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=467202 Includes commentary by RSB (now JKM) herself
<Random_Nerd> (None! He's the descendant of an Imperator.)
<Angelo> ho is Dick C.?
<Random_Nerd> American TV personality.
<Random_Nerd> Seems to not age.
<Knockwood> well... last I saw him he was obviously dealing with a stroke
<Random_Nerd> Well, he's finally showing his age.
<Angelo> oh, clearly an robot then
<Random_Nerd> But before that, he didn't really seem to change between thirty and sixty very much.
<Knockwood> and, IIRC, somebody did dig up his birth certificate... October 1929
<Random_Nerd> Not bad. So, he's nearly 80.
<BethE> And he would always announce the New Year's Time's Square ball drop at the end of the old year and he would never age...but a year or two ago, he couldn't make it.
<Random_Nerd> Anyway, let's get the session started.
<Angelo> ok let's start!
=-= YOU are now known as Ftisk
=-= Knockwood is now known as DanteE
=-= BethE is now known as Theresa
<Random_Nerd> You'd just finished talking to Consequences, who was going to visit Shadows.
<Random_Nerd> You've talked to everyone you'd intended to in Locus B.
<Random_Nerd> Do you want to do more there, or shall we start with you back home?
<Ftisk> I want to send G. to the other side!
<DanteE> (Depends, they throwing a party? :) )
<Random_Nerd> (Not a big one.)
<Theresa> Back home is fine with me.  :) Let the family party.
<Random_Nerd> (They're all very busy, and Shadows would just be embarassed.)
<Ftisk> (G is a little one)
<Random_Nerd> (So, going back to see Shadows, or back home?0
<Ftisk> (Ok , no now then)
<DanteE> Got something specific for Gnomely to do, Ftisk?)
<Ftisk> ((G. want a TV show)
<Random_Nerd> (Really, instead of a formal party, Consequences and Eclipses are going to take Shadows out of chancel to Earth, give him a nice dinner, try to get him to stop thinking about summoning stuff for at least an evening.)
<Random_Nerd> (They will leave Duty at home, for reasons that I hope are obvious.)
<Random_Nerd> (So, let's start with you guys back at home.)
<DanteE> (OK... cut to us around the conference table?)
<Ftisk> (ok)
<Random_Nerd> (Oh, hey. I'm calling the end of the storyline here. A shorter one, so one CP for those not catching up, two for those who're behind.)
<Ftisk> YAY!
<Theresa> (I need to update my page...)
<DanteE> (gimme a sec to update my charsheet on the Wiki...;
<Random_Nerd> At the conference table, William is making a few quick sketches of the new and improved Gnomesby, and Samuel is reading an old comic book.
<DanteE> (He didn't buy Action Comics #1, did he?)
<Ftisk> (Is Gnomely not Gnomesby... or are you misspelling intentionally? In that case is fine)
<Random_Nerd> (No.)
<Random_Nerd> (Ah, Gnomely. I can never remember which.)

  • DanteE mulls over HQ's flower...

<Random_Nerd> (And Samuel's more of a Marvel fan.)
<Ftisk> (Wolwerine then|)
<DanteE> (Hasn't seen Civil War, then... :) )
<DanteE> "So... anyone have any ideas on what to do next?"
<Ftisk> G: " I want to continue with the show project. We was casting..."
<Random_Nerd> (Let's see... Sam is reading Fantastic Four Annual #4, the one where the original robotic Human Torch showed up again.)
<DanteE> (Were our Aides there when we talked to HQ by himself?)
<Random_Nerd> (Nope.)

  • Theresa is typing out instructions to her contacts in Chicago and Detroit who are organizing urban farms.

<Random_Nerd> (You were yanked up to him, they weren't.)

  • Ftisk is doing some divination

<Ftisk> (data div)
<Random_Nerd> (Anything particular?)
<Theresa> (Urban farms - http://www.urbanfarming.org/locations.htm )
<Ftisk> (F. is searching a nice wedding present for W)
<Random_Nerd> William finishes his sketch, and pulls out a notebook.

  • Ftisk ask william to see the sketches

<Random_Nerd> W: "Okay, let's see. We're in the starting stages of the TV show... does Anchor Gnomely prefer animated, or live-action, Dominus Ftisk?"
<DanteE> "Let's see... investigate the Wall... investigate Attaris ... figure out what the hell happened on Breach-Day ...
<DanteE> (How tall is Gnomely?)

  • Ftisk looks at Gnomely for a response

<Ftisk> (he is a hair short that 1,5meter)
<Random_Nerd> William passes the sketches over. They're not incredibly good, but they're decent, and it's the first time you've seen him draw something other than floral heraldry.
<Ftisk> G: I prefer live action
<Ftisk> (have the arrows and note on it? ^^ )
<Random_Nerd> (Arrows?)

<DanteE> "Where are you going to find a decent actor that size, though?"

<Ftisk> "... good point Dante!"
<Random_Nerd> William: "Very well, I'll pass that along. Okay, other business. Several more transmorgrified humans have been converted back, and seem to be adapting well."
<Theresa> (Obviously he will play himself!  :) )
<DanteE> "Or, for that matter, how are you going to show what he's been though in live-action? Stick with animated."
<Theresa> "Glad to hear it, William."
<Random_Nerd> W: "And I actually had an idea for that. One of the transformed people who like his new form seemed a good choice. He's been turned into a faun, not the deer kind, the mythical kind."
<Ftisk> G: "I'll play myself, that is not a problem"
<Random_Nerd> W: "And, since before he was changed he had a progressive neurological disease, which he seems to have shed, he wants to keep his current form. And he's just a bit taller than Anchor Gnomely."
<Ftisk> G: "Just Gnomely William, don't need to be soo formal"
<DanteE> "You want a satyr to play Gnomely?"
<Random_Nerd> W: "Very well."
<Ftisk> "Well is adapt a least for his libido side" *rimshot*
<Ftisk> G: "..."
<Random_Nerd> W: "He doesn't have the traditional satyr... frolicksomeness. Although there is another issue... we need a decision on whether transformed people are eligible for competitive sports."
<Random_Nerd> W: "That's the main category of people who don't want to be changed, those whose bodies for whatever reason work better now."
<Ftisk> "can you create a new sport category? 'Parahuman' for these?"
<Random_Nerd> W: "That's one of the discussed approaches, creating a new league."
<DanteE> "Yeah, the transformed should have their own sports.
<Theresa> "Argh...do we have people wanting to be transformed now?"
<Random_Nerd> W: "The main problem is that there are only a few changed people who play any particular sport at a competitive level."
<Random_Nerd> W: "You do indeed have people who want to be changed."
<Random_Nerd> W: "Three main categories of those who take it seriously."
<DanteE> (Hm... in Nobilis, diseases are malevolent spirits who latch on to a person, right?)
<Ftisk> G: "you have the trasmogrifier then you can change these"
<Random_Nerd> (Often. Depending on how you look at them.)
<Theresa> "Which categories?"
<Random_Nerd> W: "First, people with some sort of incurable illness, who want a chance to get rid of it. Second, people who see some potential financial or social gain. Third, people with some form of body-dysphoria."
<DanteE> (I've been wondering how to do Harvests... what happens if I swipe the Courage from those little bastards? :) )
<Ftisk> (a few weeks without request to change)
<DanteE> "How many of each one has 'signed up' so far?"
<Theresa> "Social gain?"
<Random_Nerd> (Single-celled creatures don't really have "courage" as Dante would define it. Nor do most forms of other disease.)
<Random_Nerd> (Some parasites would qualify.)
<Random_Nerd> W: "Celebrity, mainly."
<Ftisk> "But if all became lion there is not celebrity in becoming a lion"
<Random_Nerd> W: "True. The more people change, the less notoriety there would be to gain."
<DanteE> "That was a Dr. Seuss story, as I recall."
<Ftisk> G: "I think that each one must have the chance to be what he feel he must be"
<Random_Nerd> William nods.
<DanteE> (and how 'complex' is a disease-spirit, anyway?)
<Theresa> "Have there been any negative reactions to the changed in the Chancel?"
<Random_Nerd> (Depends on the disease.)
<Random_Nerd> (Heart disease, for instance, would likely be a combination of injury-spirits and ancestral-influence-spirits clinging to the affected organ, for instance.)
<DanteE> "Are we charging anything for a transformation?"
<Random_Nerd> W: "We're working to keep the social status of the transformed as pleasant as possible. There have been incidents, but none so far have been violent."
<Random_Nerd> W: "We haven't been charging, although only those who undergo psychiatric evaluation have been transformed back to humans. So far, we have not transformed any from human to inhuman."
<DanteE> (Hm... how's this sound: we make a deal with the Insurance companies... in return for them helping out Lesson's group with something--say, infrastructure--we zap their chronic disease sufferers into healthy people?)
<Theresa> (By changing them into something else or healing them with miracles?)
<Ftisk> (sound capitalistic! Ftisk approve, Gnomely not)
<DanteE> (I'm the only one who can do heal-zaps without expending MPs, I'd be overwhelmed)
<Random_Nerd> (And some of the stuff wouldn't be doable by Dante. People who'd been born with congenital defects, for instance.)
<DanteE> "Ftisk, can you create a second Transmogrifier?"
<Random_Nerd> (No need. You have Transmorgrifiers as a Weird Science.)
<Ftisk> "Yes I believe I can make one"
<Random_Nerd> (You can just get some engineers to build more.)
<Theresa> (I think that it might be a step too far in the wrong direction. Next thing you know, the Chancel will be wanting us to ressurect everyone who dies.)
<Ftisk> (I can create an automated factory)ù
<DanteE> (I mean make a second one so Lesson & company can handle twice as many people)
<Random_Nerd> (After getting them drunk, showing them the specs, and convincing them that it isn't a joke, at least.)
<Ftisk> (what wrong with on demand resurrection Theresa? :-P )
<DanteE> "Of course, that all opens up the question of why we have chronic disease in Amyra at all."
<Ftisk> "You have poor diplomatic relation with disease spirit"
<Theresa> (Because we only have so big of a Chancel.  :) Overcrowding wouldn't be good for the cities or the plants.)
<Ftisk> G "There can be diplomatic relation with disease spirit?"
<Theresa> "Depends on what you mean by chronic."
<Random_Nerd> S: "Yes. Many citystates on Dionyl have banished disease, and others have made deals with it."
<DanteE> "... what kind of deals?"
<Random_Nerd> S: "Oh, all kinds. They can do useful things too, if you come to terms with them."
<Ftisk> G: whistle "Ohhhh this is " whistle again
<Random_Nerd> S: "Now, these are livestock diseases, not for people, of course."
<Random_Nerd> S: "But for instance, if you banish all disease spirits, they sometimes get the digestion-helping microbes to go with them and not break the strike, and that can have bad effects on some industrial horses and so forth."
<Random_Nerd> S: "But if you can get them to agree to reproduce only within certain limits, they can often keep themselves going without harming your herds."?
<Random_Nerd> (No ?)
<Random_Nerd> (Hello, Tpyo.)
<Theresa> "I don't think it would be good to be messing with our digestive bacteria as well."
<Random_Nerd> S: "Yeah, doing it when the actual /people/ will be affected would be trickier."
<DanteE> "Come to think of it... there were several little tragedies that got shuffled aside when the Chancel-creation plague hit."
<Random_Nerd> S: "Oh?"
<DanteE> "Same as anywhere, really."
<DanteE> "and we've been neglecting our duties as Lords of the Realm..."
<Ftisk> G: "You refer to the 101 deaths?"
<Theresa> "Death and taxes."
<Random_Nerd> S: "Oh, you have a bane? I didn't even know. Bad one?"
<Ftisk> (there is a bane in Amyra?)
<DanteE> "Not a bane, just the usual sadness that comes with being flesh, Sam."
<Random_Nerd> S: "I wouldn't know."
<Random_Nerd> S: "What's that like, anyway?"
<Theresa> "Do Dionyl have an equivalent to hormones?"
<Ftisk> "I show you"
<Random_Nerd> S: "We do."

  • Ftisk use the enbody gift on Sam to made a mechanical body from his mechanical body parts

<Random_Nerd> Sam pulls apart the scarves and cloaks covering his "torso" and points at something invisible.
<DanteE> "Ftisk, did you ever put together that reflector for the Transmogrifier ray?"
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Aaagh! DOn't do that! Don't do that!"

  • Ftisk revert the gift

<Ftisk> "How are you Sam???"
<DanteE> "Easy, Ftisk, don't jump the gun."
<Random_Nerd> Sam pulls all his clothes and limbs into a ball.
<Random_Nerd> (Not, like, a tiny ball, but like an invisible human curling up in the fetal position.)
<Ftisk> "I was trying to be helpful..."
<Random_Nerd> S: "I... I think I'm okay. Can you hear me?"

  • Theresa comes over to Sam. "Sam, it's okay. Do you need some time alone for a bit. Yes, we can hear you."

<Ftisk> G: "Sure!"
<Theresa> "Ftisk, Sam's not used to having a body, so it could be very disconcerting."
<Random_Nerd> William takes off his suit jacket, and drapes it over Sam's shoulders.
<Ftisk> "I don't think of the collateral effects... I'm sorry Samuel"
<Random_Nerd> S: "I know you didn't mean any harm, but really, don't do that."
<Theresa> "Do you want to head home for a bit, Sam?"
<DanteE> "Sam? You want a boost of Courage?"
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "No more miracles. I just need to relax a bit. William, can you take over?"

  • Ftisk look sad plus fly a 50cm lower

<Random_Nerd> W: "There was another thing. Several Powers wanted to arrange a meeting with you."
<Ftisk> "Witch powers?"
<Ftisk> G: "What kind of meeting? A party?"
<Random_Nerd> W: "No, just talking to you."
<DanteE> "Before or after our latest Council visit?"
<Random_Nerd> W: "I believe that the actions of Ymera Ha'Qadosh Berakha have made several who've heard of it nervous."
<Theresa> "Good, it made us nervous too."
<DanteE> "After... did they give any specifics on why they wanted to talk to us?"
<Random_Nerd> W: "Not to me, at least."
<DanteE> "Who's on the list?"
<Theresa> "We seem to be in between crises so we should be able to fit them in."
<DanteE> "More like in a lull in our ongoing crises, but that works."
<Random_Nerd> W: "Let's see. Electricity and Copper, who I gather you've met, wanted to talk to you at the same time as Bone, who is not of the same Familia."
<Random_Nerd> W: "Martyrs sent a letter saying that if you wished to talk with her, she was available, as did Eclipses."
<Random_Nerd> W: "And Patterns also wanted to talk to you."
<Ftisk> (no physic?)
<Random_Nerd> (Nope.)
<Theresa> *thinks* "Okay, Patterns is the only one I think I don't know."
<DanteE> "Who are their Ymera?"
<Ftisk> "Patterns and Bone of witch familia are?"
<DanteE> "I wonder how many are Wildlords."
<Random_Nerd> W: "Patterns serves Ymera Gamaliel, a Fallen Angel. Bone serves Ymera Pale, a Magister of the Light."
<Random_Nerd> W: "The others, I believe, you know."
<Theresa> "Oh, now I remember where I heard of Bone. A predecessor of him had Luc Guiness as an Anchor."
<Random_Nerd> William remains silent.
<Random_Nerd> W: "Sam, how are you doing?"
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "A bit better. Could you toss me my book?"
<Random_Nerd> William does.
<DanteE> "Ah, reminds me...
<Random_Nerd> W: "Hmm?"
<DanteE> "Ftisk... part of our deal with the Aides says not to hit them with miracles without their explicit consent.
<Random_Nerd> W: "In your defense, Dominus Ftisk was not a party to that agreement. Nor did you encourage him."
<Ftisk> "Oh, I don't know the deal and I want not to hurt Sam"
<Theresa> "Still, we are willing to accept any repercusions Sam wishes to pursue."
<Random_Nerd> W: "That said, if you wanted to apologize, the traditional way would be to do a small miraculous service to Samuel, or to his... city, I suppose."
<Ftisk> "Sure, I want to apologize to him"
<Random_Nerd> S: "I'm not going to try to drag the locust court in over what was an honest mistake, especially under the circumstances. And it's not like the Aides have any power over Nobles."
<Random_Nerd> S: "It's okay, just please don't do it again."
<Ftisk> "I was not trying to hurt you. Also, I can do something miraculous for you?"
<DanteE> "You know, with the transmogrifier we could zap you into a human body, for as long as you wanted to experience it."
<Random_Nerd> S: "I don't think I would like that. I don't know how Triad handled it. Still, he's a Noble, and... was he a follower of the Splinters? I don't remember."
<Theresa> "Oh and William, if you think that I will be out of Chancel at the time of your wedding, I'll try to leave a miracle inna box ready for you and your fiancee's use."
<DanteE> "Oh, that reminds me. Anything new from Gaius?"
<Random_Nerd> S: "I imagine there are splinter eremites who'd love the chance to experience it. Just... not my thing."
<Random_Nerd> W: "He's establishing a chancel, in the traditional hundred nights. So far, he's gotten by with just executed criminals."
<Ftisk> "One at night? Or are been days without execution?"
<DanteE> "What's the population of Dionyl?"
<Random_Nerd> W: "On the entire world? I don't know. Less than Earth, but on the same scale. Two billion, or four. Something like that."
<Random_Nerd> W: "I gather that he's been spacing out executions. And since he's running the Chancel on largely military lines, the trials have been relatively short. Of course, a god in his own kingdom can easily judge quickly."
<DanteE> "As long as he only kills the deserving."
<Ftisk> "He is on is reign, I think he have the moral right to kill whoever he want..."
<Random_Nerd> W: "He seems to find them deserving. He is also asking for volunteers."
<Random_Nerd> W: "So far, no volunteers have been killed."
<Ftisk> G: look a bit stunted at FTisk
<Ftisk> G: " I can believe that"
<DanteE> "In any case, we should start going through the list of Nobles who want to talk to us.
<Random_Nerd> W: "Also, he has requested a valet and a military advisor from our organization. We should be supplying them within the week"
<DanteE> "By the way, was the Hearth Fire on that list?"
<Random_Nerd> William glances at the list.
<Random_Nerd> W: "Is that a name or an estate?"
<Ftisk> "a estate"
<DanteE> "I suspect both."
<Theresa> "The Aides provide valets?"
<Random_Nerd> W: "Ah. No, not yet."
<Random_Nerd> W: "We do at times. Particularly to Imperators."
<Random_Nerd> W: "Now, I'm perfectly capable of fulfilling that role myself, if there's a need, but you don't seem to require those services."
<DanteE> "I advised him a little on building a defense force.
<Theresa> *smiles* "No, I am not in need of a gentleman's gentleman."
<DanteE> "Maybe a military advisor would help him implement that."
<Random_Nerd> W: "He specifically requested a human one. That's odd, given how different was is on Dionyl."
<Random_Nerd> W: "Still, we do have ex-military people in the organization, and they're holding auditions now."
<DanteE> "But in any case... Let's see, Electricity and Copper, Bone, and Patterns wanted to speak with us, while Martyrs and Eclipses said we could talk to them, right?"
<Random_Nerd> W: "Correct, sir."
<DanteE> "Want to talk to E&C first? We only know him through his bird, and his rivalry with Consequences."
<Ftisk> "Is ok for me. Can you briefly explain Dante?"
<Random_Nerd> W: "Well, he and Bone wanted to meet with you together."
<Ftisk> (Ftisk wasn't here then)
<Theresa> "Did they specify a time or place?"
<DanteE> to Ftisk: "Well, way back when the chancel was first formed, Kudzu sent us after a shopping list.
<Theresa> (You should show off your copper pigeon, Dante.)
<DanteE> "When we went to Chicago to pick up an angel feather, we were spied on by a pigeon...

  • DanteE picks up the copper pigeon carcass (in a bell jar) from his office.

<DanteE> "This one.
<Ftisk> "An anchor for Copper and Electricity?"
<DanteE> "His blood got zapped to copper when we tried to investigate."
<Ftisk> "thank you"
<DanteE> "Then later, he animated the pigeon ad spoke to us through it."
<DanteE> *and
<DanteE> (Ftisk: Chapter 1 for the first part...
<Ftisk> "and?"
<Ftisk> (I read it, but Ftisk don't know)
<Random_Nerd> (Yeah, I thought so.)
<Ftisk> (We can leave it to our hand waves and go to set a meeting place+time)
<DanteE> (Trying to find that session...)
<Random_Nerd> W: "They wanted to meet you in the place where you met the other Nobles. Night and the Dionyl ones and so forth."

  • DanteE tells the story of the Great Pigeon Caper, soon to be a major motion picture.

<Ftisk> (not before the Gnomely show!)
<DanteE> "That's the Diplomacy Grove."
<Random_Nerd> William nods.
<Ftisk> "Where there is maple? right? "
<Theresa> "Ah. It's reputation grows."
<Theresa> "Yep, that's where my Maple is."
<Random_Nerd> William: "One moment, let me think about something..."
<Ftisk> "Theresa, do, you asked it if it want to be trasmogrified?"
<Random_Nerd> W: "I would advise you to think carefully about what they say, but to be cautious, and to perhaps not ask Samuel or myself for advice on what they say."
<Random_Nerd> William scratches his sphere-bearing ear as if it's itchy.
<Theresa> "Hmm, you know, I never even thought to ask. He's always been a Maple and quiet at that. I don't know if he would really know what I was asking. it would be asking a stone if it would like to be a cloud. Outside his perception."
<DanteE> "... aren't you supposed to give us that kind of advice?"
<Random_Nerd> W: "I would like to ask you to specifically not ask me for further advice."
<Ftisk> G: "What do you mean? Have you received 'outside' pression"
<Random_Nerd> W: "At least, about this specific matter."
<Theresa> "Ah, okay. Ixnay around ballay."
<Ftisk> to Theresa: "Well is your Maple"
<Random_Nerd> W: "I'm being cryptic for a reason, but please believe me, I am trying to be loyal to both you, and to others I respect."
<DanteE> "Aha. Is this because of E&C, or Ha'Qadosh?"

  • Ftisk ldiv data on William to dig the reason he is cripthic

<Theresa> "Understandable, William."
<Random_Nerd> (Well, you can't tell what he's thinking at this exact moment. What memories are you looking for?)
<DanteE> (Direct miracle, Ftisk!)
<Ftisk> (I search for the event that make him weary now)
<Random_Nerd> (Well, William is not an Anchor.)
<Ftisk> (Will have not auctoritas and is not under miraculous power.. I believe)
<Random_Nerd> (Correct.)
<DanteE> "E&C has a Aide, doesn't he?"
<Random_Nerd> (The event that pops up is a bit where William is putting the sphere in his ear for the first time, and a voice outside his field of vision is explaining that the sphere is the physical manifestation of his promises to the Aides.)
<Random_Nerd> W: "I don't think so."
<Ftisk> (nice and subtle RN. I like it!)
<DanteE> "... but he did?"
<Random_Nerd> W: "I don't know. If so, I never met that Aide."
<Random_Nerd> W: "And for reasons that I believe will be clear soon, I am hesitant to check our Oracle."
<Random_Nerd> W: "Shall I arrange the meeting?"
<DanteE> "Hm. All right... (to Theresa & Ftisk) You guys want to meet Electricity and Copper and Bone?"
<Ftisk> G: "Let's meet them!"
<Ftisk> "Yes, I want to meet them"
<Random_Nerd> W: "I will arrange for a meeting. Is later today permissible?"
<Ftisk> "yes"
<DanteE> "Sure."
<Theresa> "Later today is fine. The gardens I'm advising are doing well enough on their own at the moment."
<DanteE> "And... I have a little time to assuage my guilt...
<Random_Nerd> W: "I will do so. I must go."
<Ftisk> G: "What do you mena Dante?"
<Ftisk> mean even
<DanteE> "I'm going to head down to the local Hospital and clear out their Pediatric ICU.
<Random_Nerd> William walks out of the room.
<DanteE> "and then their Oncology department.
<Ftisk> G: "Can I came with you?"
<DanteE> "Ftisk, can you bring that transmogrifier ray reflector to the roof?"
<Ftisk> "only the reflector?"

  • Theresa crouches down. "How are you doing, Sam?"

<DanteE> "Well, we can't move the ray itself..."
<Ftisk> "I can make one on the place you want it"
<Ftisk> (right RN?)
<Random_Nerd> (Here in this chancel, you can.)
<Random_Nerd> (Elsewhere, it would be hard.)
<Random_Nerd> (But there's the Weird Science here.)
<Ftisk> (perfect! ^^ )
<Ftisk> (Sam react to theresa?)
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Better than before."
<Random_Nerd> S: "Still a bit shaken up. I felt like I couldn't move, like all my motions were being stilled. But I don't seem to be harmed."
<DanteE> "Sorry again, Sam...
<Random_Nerd> (Sam was never in physical danger, he just had a panic attack.)
<Ftisk> (He need a bit of courage ;-) )
<DanteE> "By the way, can you tell us anything about what William was so antsy about?"
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "I have a hunch, but I'd rather not say, if that's okay. But if it's what I'm thinking of, you don't really have anything to worry about."
<Random_Nerd> S: "William, as annoying as he occasionally does, generally knows what he'd doing. I trust him, at least."
<DanteE> "OK, I'll leave you alone."
<Ftisk> "Is his new wife related?"
<Random_Nerd> S: "Not really, I don't think."
<Ftisk> "ok." To Dante: "We can go, but I need some mechanical pieces to make the trasmogrifier at the hospital. Can the danteMobile carry them? Or we need a trunk?"
<Theresa> "How soon is the wedding, anyhow? I should budget my strength on that miracle depending on how extreme they wish to be."
<Random_Nerd> S: "Couple weeks.
<Random_Nerd> "
<Theresa> "Hmm, okay. What are their colors?"
<Random_Nerd> S: "Boring. A particular dark green, and a certain shade of off-white."
<Random_Nerd> Sam flutters his multicolored scarves for a moment.
<Random_Nerd> Then two of them stand out.
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "That, and that."
<DanteE> (Ftisk can create a machine without expending MPs, right?)
<Ftisk> (Right)
<Random_Nerd> (Right.)
<Random_Nerd> (And in Amyra, the Transmorgrifier can be made with a Lesser Creation.)
<DanteE> (Then he doesn't need to bring stuff. :) )
<Random_Nerd> (At least, if you have somewhere to plug it in and so forth.)
<Random_Nerd> (Want to do the hospital thing on-camera, or in between scenes?)
<DanteE> (Did we ever establish how big it is?)
<Ftisk> (a few stores I believe like 2 or 3)
<Ftisk> (is a pointy thinky [a pyramidal shape])
<Random_Nerd> (The one in the Bureau is huge, like an old supercomputer. But if you just want to be able to affect humans and not giant ogres or trees, a smaller one could work.)
<DanteE> (Didn’t we put together a reflector, so we could fire it from where it is and have it hit who we want?)
<Random_Nerd> (Yeah, you did.)
<Theresa> *looks at the scarves* "Hmm. Ivy might work...magnolias would work too, which the preservations will be marvelous. I think I can work with that without having to create a new Amazonian orchid, unless that is what the bride wants."
<Random_Nerd> S: "You'll be able to meet her soon, I imagine. Try not to upset her needlessly. She's a nice person, but she isn't really used to the weird stuff."
<DanteE> (And I'll throw the question to the other players. Want to play through healing kids and cancer patients?)
<Ftisk> "I can make the buffet butlers if Will want"
<Ftisk> (I can gladly skip this piece Dante)

  • DanteE thinks of a wedding with guests tended by C-3POs...

<Random_Nerd> (Oh, I thought of a way that Dante could help with cancers that he can't cure directly. With him on hand, a surgeon could take out cancers that would normally be inoperable, but Dante could patch up behind him and let the patient live.)
<DanteE> (Or the patient can just be transmogrified into a healthy version of themself)
<Random_Nerd> (True. But the other thing, Dante can do wherever there's a good hospital, not just in Amrya.)
<Theresa> "I'll try to be very normal in front of her. Should I wear formal gloves to hide the missing fingers?"
<Ftisk> (how much time take to do a trasmogrification?)
<DanteE> (Just long enough to go 'Boink!', I think. :) )
<Random_Nerd> (Yeah. The delays that you've been going through have been mainly getting the people ready, since some had their minds as well as their bodies changed.)
<Random_Nerd> (Oh, and Alan the Tree has not yet chosen to become human again. Instead, he's currently filming for a reality TV show that will air in the fall.)
<Ftisk> (LOL)
<DanteE> (That's the kid we chased to the counseling center?)
<Random_Nerd> (Yep.)
<Random_Nerd> (It's getting late. Mind if we stop here?)
<Ftisk> (We set the meeting with C&E?)
<Random_Nerd> (You told William to.)
<Theresa> (Does Alan still make the triffid noises?)
<Theresa> (Stopping is good...)
<Random_Nerd> (Or do really lame ventriloquism and say "What a strange and unusual plant!")
<Ftisk> (ok for stop now)
<Random_Nerd> ___________________STOP___________________
<DanteE> (OK. Healing people on or off camera though?)
<Random_Nerd> Okay, now, no session next week.
<Random_Nerd> (I'm okay with either. If you want it to be on-camera, we can start with it next session.)
<Ftisk> (A bit on camera is nice. Too much can cause dental caries :-P )
<DanteE> when's Brian coming back?
<Ftisk> in 2 weeks I believe
<Random_Nerd> That sounds right.
<DanteE> If that's true he'll have only missed one session, this one
<Ftisk> Laz is on Facebook and I see he do some activity there
<Random_Nerd> So, since we have a gap, any questions before I go?
<Random_Nerd> (And why William is acting oddly will not be one of those long-term mysteries, if you were wondering. Just a cliffhanger.)
<Ftisk> none
<Ftisk> or better we can meet a mimic please? pretty please? with sugar on it?
<Random_Nerd> Hmm... okay.
<Random_Nerd> Yes, you will meet a mimic at some point in this storyline or the next one.
<Ftisk> ^___^ !___! ^___^ /me do happy dance!
<DanteE> "OK, say hi to Nandom Rerd. (Hi!) "
<Random_Nerd> At least, unless you do something crazy I will never predict, and sell tickets to a no-holds-barred cage match between Entropy and Monty.
<Theresa> Nah, too much promotion needed.

Chapter 16
