[Angelo] HI!
[BethE] Hi guys! *HUGS*
[BethE] For you, Angelo - http://www.flickr.com/photos/specklet/sets/72157594204828139/?page=1
[lazarus] hey Angelo & Beth!
[Verithe] Oh. I'm going to be on an airplane for a good deal of Oct. 7, so I'm going to miss game that day.
[Verithe] Also, hi, Beth and Angelo. :)
[Angelo] @Beth: cuuuute!
[Angelo] @All the other: "Ciao!"

  • Verithe e-pets the hummingbird

[lazarus] I have book binding glue now :D! I can't wait to re-bind (and then be able to read!) Rogue Trader!
[Random_Nerd] You just got some? The rest of us have had bookbinding glue for /ages/.
[Random_Nerd] We were wondering when you'd catch up.
[lazarus] yeah.

  • Random_Nerd has actually had some for years. Yes Paste, specifically.

[lazarus] I upgraded from plain old white glue :p
[Random_Nerd] Going with purple, or puce?
[lazarus] 's good stuff. I'd actually prefer sewing the new binding to Rogue Trader, but the original had a notched spine (for the glue to seep in and hold the pages better, though it didn't work too well...) which precludes sewing.
[lazarus] I almost bought purple binding "paper"

  • Verithe is unsure if he ever wants something to be flea-colored

[BethE] What about fleas, V?
[Verithe] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puce
[BethE] Huh. I did not know that.
[lazarus] The word doesn't come up much.
[lazarus] probably explains why I forgot it.
[lazarus] (and also that we pronounce it wrong in English, if it's derived from the French)
[Random_Nerd] Oh, on a tangent, I was looking through the Nobilis final draft, and I found something in there that I thought was gone forever. That's right, the "When in doubt, sneeze" passage.
[BethE] *cheer!*
[lazarus] mrow?
[Angelo] really?
[Random_Nerd] Yep. I forget the page, now, but it's in there.
[Verithe] We pronounce a lot of loanwords incorrectly in English. I've come to realize that's part of what makes them English.
[Random_Nerd] I consider my playtester credit fully earned.
[Random_Nerd] Every language butchers loanwords, doesn't it?
[lazarus] V: I can't, to this day, pronounce "lingerie" in English.
[Random_Nerd] lon-ger-ay?
[lazarus] I can't do that! I go to French Mode for that word, for some reason.
[lazarus] (also Quebec)
[Random_Nerd] For bonus points, pronounce the "eh" as if it was being said by Fonzie.
[Random_Nerd] So, should we start without Knock, and just integrate Dante when he gets here?
[lazarus] what were we doing?
=-= BethE is now known as Theresa
[lazarus] Planning again?
=-= lazarus is now known as Brian
[Random_Nerd] Knitting.
[Theresa] We had just shut down Patterns for a bit.
[Brian] oh righ.
[Brian] right.
[Angelo] We where to go to disneyland
[Brian] we actually finished something!
[Verithe] Was that a "story"?
[Random_Nerd] Hmm. Arguably.
[Random_Nerd] You had two goals at the beginning of it, and you've accomplished both of them.
[Random_Nerd] Sure. I'll call that a story.
[Angelo] 2 goals?
[Verithe] Yessss!
[Brian] -REDACTED- anymore, though ...
[Brian] that I remember reading, anyway.
[Random_Nerd] Not that way, yeah.
[Random_Nerd] "Get Kite an Aide" and "Stop Patterns from patterning up people's heads in Amyra."
[Angelo] yep Brian you –REDACTED-(s)
[Verithe] I still have to –REDACTED-?
[Random_Nerd] Hmm...
[Random_Nerd] Get him to do something relevant to it, and it'll be a minor victory.
[Verithe] Alright. The seer bonnet project is on that track.
[Random_Nerd] So, is there any project that any of you would like the next storyline to revolve around?
[Brian] I think I'm good for now
[Angelo] Mine? Gain an out of the wall estate?
[Random_Nerd] That could work. How would Ftisk go about doing that?
[Angelo] that imply send DollP outside? Then trying Ftisk in person to go outside. all with Shadows help
[Verithe] We /were/ about to do the sending Dollphaniel outside bit...
[Angelo] Yep is half of the reason I propose to further my goal
[Brian] I think this also has something to do with the group project of "find out more about Kudzu".
[Angelo] ^_^
[Theresa] Good place to start. Does the trip to Jupiter get easier the more we do it? Oh and it'd be Kite's first visit...
[Verithe] Second. I was there with Summer Glau.
[Brian] I just realized we've all sorta been trying to find out more information about our Imperator (in specific, and Wild Imperators in general), and we haven't –REDACTED- yet!
[Random_Nerd] Hmm. Who should be the primary on that one?
[Random_Nerd] Usually, "figure out about X" tends to be Dante or Brian.
[Verithe] I agree.
[Brian] everyone I think? Does –REDACTED-?
[Random_Nerd] It does.
[Random_Nerd] Everyone can –REDACTED-.
[Random_Nerd] This ties into –REDACTED-.
[Brian] ah.
[Random_Nerd] Hmm. Having –REDACTED-?
[Brian] It's part of the reason why Brian was looking into the whole Outside thing (summoning, travelling, etc) in the first place.
[Random_Nerd] Does he have any particular experiments in mind with respect to it?
[Theresa] (Hmm, is the smallest particle of an Excrucian a Shard?)
[Brian] it was backburnered for a time in Brian's mind, but he'd probably piggyback on the Dollphaniel business. I'm not sure exactly what to look for with it - I do like Dante's suggestion of looking for a connection between Kudzu and Outside.
[Random_Nerd] (Depends who you ask.)
[Random_Nerd] Hmm. You could tie it in with some of the information you got from last time about James...
[Theresa] (Just thinking what would happen if you could make a spiritual particle accelerator.)
[Angelo] so one experiment can –REDACTED-?
[Brian] I don't think Brian was round then. But others can.
[Random_Nerd] Well, he's at least read a transcript.
[Brian] true, I suppose. I haven't, though :p
[Random_Nerd] Hold on, I'll just find it and post it on the wiki.

  • Angelo is on the brake

[Random_Nerd] http://wiki.rpg.net/index.php/Discussion_With_Outside
[Brian] I remember reading that one before. I probably was there.
[Angelo] Niice work
[Brian] Outside is fucked up.
[Angelo] yep
[Theresa] Polite guy.
[Random_Nerd] I believe your theory is that this conversation was with Shadows' fetch.
[Random_Nerd] That's what Shadows thought, at least.
[Angelo] me too
[Brian] And I believe that we determined there's no Domain of "Identity" or "Self" or anything like that?
[Random_Nerd] So, it looks like the new storyline will involve further researches into Outside.
[Theresa] And that Shadows' fetch is not the guy who sent a different note.
[Random_Nerd] Or if there is, that the Aides don't know about it.
[Brian] true, but there's not much they don't know of.
[Brian] (notably, there seems to be a ... fluid ... sense of self, identity, and Other Entities in the conversations with Outside)
[Random_Nerd] Yeah. If they don't know about it, then it probably means that no Noble of that Estate has been active on Earth or Dionyl in the last 50 years, at the least.
[Brian] Do they monitor other worlds?
[Random_Nerd] Only when they have people there.
[Random_Nerd] And their organization hasn't spread very far past Earth.
[Theresa] Would Firstborn count for Idenitity/Self for 'Purpose' or Being?
[Random_Nerd] It might. It's a related estate, at least.
[Brian] Thinking about learning more about Wildlords/Excrucians/Outside, it might help to learn about other worlds too.
[Theresa] So it may have been an Angelic estate, if it is gone.
[Random_Nerd] True, you guys have never really been outside the Earth's neighborhood.
[Verithe] And how to integrate a True God into them...hoho!
[Brian] Have we determined if a world's Gods and specific Domains don't exist Outside, or if they're an anomaly?
[Random_Nerd] Hmm. Does Brian have a –REDACTED-?
[Brian] we know that the overarching Estates, at least, are things that are here but not out there.
[Brian] RN: not written up, but it is a thing.
[Random_Nerd] Given that we're doing Outside-related stuff this storyline, it might be a good idea to come up with one.
[Random_Nerd] You guys are likely to do things that'd be relevant.
[Random_Nerd] Well, Knock's awfully late if he's coming, so I say we should start.
[Brian] Sure. I can draw one up, I suppose. (-REDACTED-)
[Random_Nerd] Yeah, that's –REDACTED-.
[Angelo] Ftisk condensed prime you mean Brian
[Brian] Actually, learn High Summoning is –REDACTED- for learning about Outside.
[Random_Nerd] The first-tier Project, you mean?
[Random_Nerd] Of a multi-step one?
--]| Knockwood (~chatzilla@MagicStar-BF74FBDE.dhcp.reno.nv.charter.com) has joined #Nobilis
[Brian] yeah. Learning about HS is a means to learning about Outside is a means to learning more about Kudzu/Wildlords/Excrucians.
[Knockwood] (Hiyo)
[Angelo] Hi Knock!
[Brian] (hey kwd!)
[Random_Nerd] If nobody objects, we'll start in the conference room.
[Random_Nerd] That works.
[Angelo] is ok
[Knockwood] got held up at work again
=-= Knockwood is now known as DanteE
[Random_Nerd] _______________START___________
=-= YOU are now known as Fisk
=-= Verithe is now known as Kite
[Random_Nerd] Imp, dressed in a small and ill-fitting suit, and standing on the table: "Does anyone happen to be suffering the aftereffects of intoxication?"

  • Fisk float and sit on DanteE shoulder

[Theresa] (Oh no, not a Hell version of Jeeves' fixer-upper...)
[Fisk] "Intoxication from what?"
[Kite] "Should we be? I didn't drink anything..."
[Random_Nerd] Imp: "I have obtained the recipe and ingredients for a well-known hangover cure. I suppose no one needs it?"
[Fisk] (We came with a name for Imp?)
[DanteE] (OK, I grabbed the little barb wire guy, and now he's in a (opaque) jar in my vault
[Random_Nerd] He looks a bit crestfallen, like a dog that's done a trick that it turns out nobody actually wanted him to do.
[Brian] "What's the concoction, Imp?"
[Random_Nerd] Imp: "Worchestshire sauce lends it the flavor. Raw egg makes it nutritious. A bit of cayenne pepper for color..."
[Random_Nerd] Imp: "Oh, dear. I believe I have misstated the purposes of the sauce and the pepper."
[Brian] "Hm?"
[Random_Nerd] Imp: "The pepper adds flavor, and the worchestshire sauce color. At any rate..."
[Random_Nerd] The imp looks around one more time, as if expecting one of you to experience a spontaneous hangover.
[Random_Nerd] Imp: "...does anyone mind if I go and look for someone with a hangover?"
[Fisk] "ok ok I'll try it imp!"
[Brian] "nono, I'll try it in a second..."
[Theresa] (What time of day is it?)
[Random_Nerd] The imp dashes out to the kitchen.
[Fisk] (jinx Brian?)
[Brian] (I'll change my Blood Alcohol Ratio to "drunk"?)
[Random_Nerd] (Late morning, a few days after the last story.)
[Theresa] (Ah. Imp needs to learn about timing...but then again, we are Nobles and thus can get drunk anytime...)
[Random_Nerd] (Hmm. The most obvious way to do so would be –REDACTED- some alcohol into your blood.)
[Random_Nerd] The imp dashes back in, holding a glass and a small whisk.
[Brian] (I think I can do it without MPs in some way)
[Fisk] (but Brian can't change his alcohl blood ratio ?)

[Random_Nerd] (Or, hmm. You could –REDACTED- into it being your blood alcohol level.)

[Brian] (I have –REDACTED- Numbers.)
[Random_Nerd] (Note to self: -REDACTED- can be scary.)
[Brian] (I was thinking of –REDACED-, but I'm not at the point where I can express how to do that yet, necessarily)
[Random_Nerd] (What's your –REDACTED-?)
[Theresa] (Hey Dante, how well do you dress?)
[Random_Nerd] The imp whisks the contents of the glass, and hands it to Brian.
[DanteE] (Well, haven't really thought of that...)
[Brian] (Domain 4, I think)
[Random_Nerd] (More than enough to do it for free.)
[Theresa] (I'm sure that Imp will have opinions on your attire, Dante. ^^ ()
[Random_Nerd] Imp, to Ftisk: "You wanted one as well?"
[Fisk] "Yep!"

  • Brian will gingerly drink the glass, analyzing (with LDivs!) the rate of change of blood-alcohol level.

[Random_Nerd] He hops off the desk and bolts back out.
[Random_Nerd] It tastes... memorable.
[Random_Nerd] It doesn't actually lower your blood-alcohol level, but it makes you feel rather less foggy, subjectively speaking.
[Fisk] "I like it!"
[Random_Nerd] The imp beams.
[Brian] "It's ... memorable. that's probably why it clears the mind."
[Random_Nerd] He'd rather be intimidating slaves or making animal sacrifices to you guys, but if a butler is what the Powers he works for wants, then a butler he'll be.
[Fisk] "Imp I need to give the recipe to Ftiskaaaaah'Sn at Vulcan, he would like it to"
[Random_Nerd] Imp: "I'll write it up for him. I got it out of a book."
[DanteE] "Assuming you survive, what should we do now? Do we want to try sending Dollphaniel out?"

  • Fisk pat him "Ok, thank you!" ^_^

[Random_Nerd] The imp flinches at the mention of the D-word.
[Brian] "Yeah. We'll send the doll out."

  • Fisk repeat "Dollphaniel" aspect looking the imp

[Random_Nerd] Imp: "I'll... go get some paper to write that up."
[Random_Nerd] He scurries out.

  • Fisk lDiv Data, all Imp memories on *MY* dollp

[Random_Nerd] William, once the imp is gone: "So, the little demon thinks he's Jeeves, now."
[Kite] "The beyond-Creation thing on Jupiter?"
[Theresa] *to Will* "I wonder if he'll learn to shimmer."
[Random_Nerd] The little imp has many memories of Dollphaniel popping out of unexpected locations, or giving him disturbing smiles, or in one instance drawing a stick figure of him with Xes for eyes. He's not positive that the last one was her, but he suspects it.
[DanteE] "I suspect they were made malleable, and Ftisk molded him into a Jeeves..."
[Random_Nerd] William: "I should think not. That takes years to learn to do properly."
[Fisk] "Hey, I just add knowledge to him!"
[Theresa] "And if Dante starts wearing brighter clothing, we may find them in weird circumstances. And what would Jeeves think of proper Noble behavior? And what if the Imp finds...fanfiction?"
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "What about the imp is like the centipede thing? That he's mixing drinks?"
[Random_Nerd] William: "/Do/ read a book or two that were written more than twenty years ago, Samuel."
[Kite] "What book? I'm confused, too."
[DanteE] "Series of books by Wodehouse."
[Brian] "Jeeves is a butler."
[Random_Nerd] William: "Carry On, Jeeves."
[Brian] "And we all know the butler did it."
[Kite] "Ah..."

  • Kite makes a note.

[Kite] "Did what?"
[Random_Nerd] William: "A butler? No. Jeeves is /the/ butler. Or valet, I suppose."
[Theresa] "Jeeves could buttle with the best of them." *smile* "But he was a valet, or gentleman's gentleman."
[Random_Nerd] William: "There's a school of thought that believes that he was based on Luc, although I doubt it."
[Brian] "He was the kind of butler that knew what his masters wanted before they did."
[Random_Nerd] William: "There's also one that it was rather the other way around, but I doubt that one, too."

  • Kite takes lots of notes.

[Brian] "Hm. Is there an Estate of Butlers, and if so, what makes one one?"
[Random_Nerd] William: "There is an Estate of Servants. I suspect that's the closest one."
[Theresa] "Luc existed before Jeeves, correct? Unless Jeeves is a reflection of Luc into the rest of Creation."
[Random_Nerd] William: "It's more of a conspiracy theory, really. But the idea is that Luc is simply too good at his job to be natural, and that some noble or god must have set out to make the perfect seneschal."
[Brian] "They seem to have created one with a severe design flaw..."
[Theresa] (If he was _perfect_, he would have died after completing his master's funeral preparations.)
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "That really isn't his fault."
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "You should see what the lifespan of one of that kind of guys is /without/ Luc working for them."
[Brian] "... true."
[Brian] "... hey!"
[Fisk] "what flaw?"
[Theresa] "Uh, wouldn't that be _our_ possible lifespan?"
[Kite] "Is it possible to see how long they would have lived without Luc?"
[Random_Nerd] William: "Not you, I would say. Physics, perhaps."
[Brian] "I can try, Kite!"
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "Might be possible for /you/. Isn't for me."
[Brian] "I doubt it'll work, though ..."
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "But... you know. You learn to recognize the type."
[Brian] (LDiv is insufficient and will thus give me a "Failed Operation" result, I expect)
[Random_Nerd] (Yeah. Divinations about the long-term futures of Nobles are really hard even for a GDiv.)

  • Theresa ponders a 'one of _those_ guys_' aura...
  • Kite gives Brian the bird equivalent of puppy eyes...which might look a little angry

[Brian] (And for hypothetical futures, even moreso!)
[Kite] (Just because birds tend to look angry all the time)
[Brian] "yeah, no, that's not happening right now. Sadly. Would be interesting."
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "Or Shadows, maybe."

  • Kite sighs

[Brian] "Speaking of Shadows!"
[Brian] "Someone should get him on the line, invite him over for a Tossing The Doll Outside party!"
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "Oh, you're not going to tell him I said that, are you?"
[Fisk] "I, we want to do the experiment, no?"
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "It's not that I don't /like/ him, but... oh."
[Brian] "... have you re-estimated our odds yet, Sam?"
[DanteE] "Ahem. Now... do we want to send the Doll outside from Jupiter, where it's under more control, or do we want to try it here, and possibly create another connection between Kudzu and the Outside, possibly providing us with more answers?"
[Brian] "More answers is better."
[Brian] "Definitely better."
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "Well, you don't count, even still. After all, you have /us/."
[Fisk] "Here! VHere!"
[Brian] "Less safe, of course, but better."
[Brian] "Besides, we haven't had Shadows over since the party!"
[Random_Nerd] William: "Shall I attempt to communicate with him on your behalf?"
[Fisk] "yep!"
[Random_Nerd] William: "I believe I am getting the knack of getting that wasp thing to let me through to him."
[Theresa] "Can I at least give a dissenting vote over opening a spot tween here and Outside? Just so that either side is represented."

  • Fisk shrug at Theresa

[DanteE] "Well, there's a middle ground... if we do it on that plain on the other side of Mount Melchior, far away from town."
[Kite] "If there should be any defenses in place that aren't, my I observe via teleconference from across the Chancel?"
[Random_Nerd] Gilbert walks into the room. He's dressed in the sort of clothing you'd get if you told a tailor to make you a cross between a leisure suit and one of Elvis's sparkly jumpsuits and then gave him quite a bit of money once he stopped laughing.
[Brian] "We have to have the dissenting voice on record. It's what we do."
[Random_Nerd] Gilbert walks over to Kite, and places on the table in front of him a bonnet that appears to be made largely of straightpins.
[Theresa] "Sanity, crutch, I know but opening a pathway like that, in an unprepared place...makes my skin twitch."
[Kite] "Gil!"
[Brian] "Also, it's possible that Kudzu might know of a safe place, or can reinforce the Library's basement?"

  • Kite flounces to meet his sparkly Aide.

[Theresa] (Kill the sparklepire! Oh, wait, it's just Gil.)
[Kite] "Perfect!"
[Random_Nerd] Gil: "Excellent."

  • Fisk pat and hug Theresa "There is a first time for anything, with practice sanity will be less aand less a weight"

[DanteE] "I wonder if Kudzu even knows about the Library basement."

  • Fisk smirk all the time, of course

[Random_Nerd] Gil: "Sadly, I fear that the bonnet would not suit my own physiology well. The pins are too long and sharp, and would surely pierce my veins."
[Random_Nerd] Gil turns to look at Sam: "Perhaps..."
[Theresa] "I would think he would know about the basement. He _is_ the Chancel."
[Kite] "Oh, don't worry. This isn't for you."
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "...shall I prepare a route to Locus Barakiel?"
[Theresa] (Laugh point to Sam.)
[Random_Nerd] William appears to be concentrating.
[DanteE] "Yeah, but the basement appeared spontaneously when he was 'dreaming'."
[Random_Nerd] He stops.
[Kite] "How feasible do you feel it would be for you to recruit some Dionyl civilians into a cult. Preferably quilters or something in some other close-but-not-quite Assembly-related trade?"
[Random_Nerd] William: "I /believe/ that I have successfully conveyed a prayer to the Power of Shadows."
[Random_Nerd] Gil: "Well, the toughest part would be explaining what Assembly is."
[Random_Nerd] Gil: "The cult part would be easy."
[Brian] "Um, Sam, we'll wait on that. We're trying to invite him here. We can go if he doesn't answer in a bit, I suppose."
[Kite] "Make it vague and I can help with some details, later."
[Random_Nerd] Gil: "You're a Noble. Show up and let it be known that you're looking for followers, and you'll find some."
[Random_Nerd] Gil: "Best to look around a new city-state. Disaffected types always flock to those."
[Kite] "I see."
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "Yeah. Like when that Caesar guy showed up."
[Kite] "Who?"
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "The one who might be a warmain, or not, or yes /and/ no. I was never quite clear on what was up with that."
[DanteE] "Gaius, formerly Sakharoth. Maybe. He's got a city forming around him...
[Kite] "Oh!"
[Fisk] "I know him! And like him too!"

  • Kite refrains from asking Ftisk to define this instance of "like"

[Random_Nerd] You hear a sound like fingernails on a chalkboard, if the chalkboard happened to be embedded in one of the interior walls.
[Random_Nerd] Then a gaping toothy maw opens up in the surface of the wall.
[Random_Nerd] It coughs out a note, and then waits, expectantly.
[Random_Nerd] Its rings of sucker-teeth undulate.

  • Fisk refrain to put a finger in the maw
  • Kite blinks.

[Random_Nerd] Sam goes over and picks up the note.
[Random_Nerd] Sam clears his throat.
[Random_Nerd] William rolls his eyes at that.
[Fisk] "Kite, this is pigeon, is a Shadows pet"
[Kite] "It doesn't look like a pigeon."
[Fisk] "And a package transporter"
[Kite] "Ah."
[DanteE] "It's a metaphorical pigeon"
[Fisk] "pigeon is the name like Kite is your!"
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "'Hey, I got your message. Yeah, I'm a little busy, but I still owe you for the Glau Incident, so I can stop by in a while. Does Brian have a lab yet that I can use?'"
[Random_Nerd] The "pigeon" makes a sound like a flute made of pudding.
[Brian] "Hm. Lab ... I guess we should make one of those..."
[Kite] "That was...odd."
[Random_Nerd] William, quietly: "You don't even /have/ a throat."
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "Sure I do!"
[Random_Nerd] William: "...you do?"
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "How did you think I breathed and spoke?"
[Random_Nerd] William: "...magic?"
[Random_Nerd] Sam snorts.

  • Kite checks for a mythic Sam-throat...or maybe a mythic lie.

[Fisk] (I luv this exchange between Sam and Will)
[Brian] "... I thought it was magic too..."
[Random_Nerd] Sam does seem to have a path of least resistance for air to follow into and out of his chest by way of his face, and it is located about where a throat would be.
[Kite] "Huh..."
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "The only thing magical about Dionyl is our fashion sense."
[Random_Nerd] Gilbert: "That's kinda true, actually."
[Brian] "Do you have the Estate located there?"
[Random_Nerd] Pigeon: "Grumble blortle blooop?"
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "Which Estate?"
[Brian] "... that would make sense as to why ... oh yeah, the Pigeon!"
[Brian] "Fashion Sense"
[Kite] "I think it wants sunflower seeds."
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "Well, I think Clothing is an Angel. But he likes us best."

  • Brian will write out "What do you want in the Lab? I haven't built one yet, but I think it can be set up pretty easily. There's a decent place for it, too, in the basement of the Whispering Library, I think." and hand the note to the pigeon.

[Theresa] "Oh, okay. Here you go, Pigeon." *creates and feeds the mouth*
[Random_Nerd] Gilbert: "Ah, but /Style/ is a magister of the Wild."
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "And /he/ likes us best /too/."
[Theresa] "Is there anyone that doesn't like you?"
[Kite] "Flesh?"
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "William, sometimes."

  • Theresa keeps her mouth shut.  :)

[Brian] (Pigeon respond to the note?)
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "Oh, there's flesh on Dionyl. We just have the good taste not to incorporate it into our bodies..."
[Random_Nerd] Sam then glances at Gilbert, and slumps his head forwards.
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "I... I didn't mean... uh..."
[Random_Nerd] Gilbert: "...not a big deal. I'm used to it. That's kinda why I'm here."
[Random_Nerd] The pigeon swallows the note and retreats into the wall.
[Theresa] (*pats Gil on his fleshy...arm*)
[Random_Nerd] (For Sam, this is the equivalent of having told an off-color joke about some group, only to have the guy sitting next to him say "Actually, my /mother/ was an X.)
[Theresa] (Do we have Excrucian jokes?)
[Random_Nerd] The pigeon opens up in the floor and tries to cough a note out. The first effort just lands back in its mouth, but the second makes it onto the floor.

  • Fisk takes the note
  • Fisk read it aloud

[Random_Nerd] Sam picks it up and reads: "You know. Circles of protection, various sorts of wands, a large hammer, a really good fire extinguisher. That kind of thing. -Shadows."
[Random_Nerd] (Cut that.)

  • Kite looks for a random something to offer Pigeon.

[Random_Nerd] Sam reaches for it, but Ftisk got there first.
[Random_Nerd] But at any rate, that's what it says.
[Brian] (How long to set that up?)
[Random_Nerd] (With Brian's stats? It can be ready by the time he gets here.)
[DanteE] "I don't think you actually want it in the library...
[DanteE] "That may be Kudzu's head.
[Fisk] "Why Dante?"
[Brian] "I think the library's the most mythically protected spot. We can ask the Boss if you want, though."
[DanteE] "Also, it's somewhat close to town, and there'd be problems if it got eaten."
[Fisk] "We are _experimenting_!"
[Kite] "The library answers questions, yes? We could ask it if it is Kudzu's head."
[Random_Nerd] Sam: "You're Nobles. Pick a spot, and mythically protect it /yourselves/. With /magic./" With the last word, he turns to William.
[Theresa] "But we need to protect the mundane Chancelfolk."
[Fisk] "Bah, you have lot and lot of channelfolk!"
[Brian] "We can reinforce the basement sufficient."
[DanteE] "... you know what? We need an Area 51."
[Random_Nerd] William: "Let's see. You want a place that's accessible from the Tower, but isolated enough that nothing can get out..."
[Random_Nerd] William: "I suggest a heavily reinforced basement."
[Fisk] "A Prison?"
[Kite] "I saw that movie! A bank!"
[Random_Nerd] William: "More... a zoo."
[Kite] "A zoo?"
[Fisk] "A kaZoo?"
[Random_Nerd] Sam stands by the pigeon with a pad of paper, waiting to take dictation.

  • Kite throw something random into Pigeon's mouth

[DanteE] "Sam... ask Shadows what could happen if things get out of control. Let's see how safe the place needs to be."
[Random_Nerd] Gilbert pulls a phone from his shiny sequined pocket, and types something out.
[Fisk] (like a phonebook?)
[Random_Nerd] Sam writes that down, and tosses it into the pigeon.
[Random_Nerd] (What sort of thing do you throw in?)

  • Fisk lCreate a like Gojiira and toss it too in Pigeon

[Random_Nerd] The pigeon withdraws again.
[Kite] (Maybe an empty folder)
[Random_Nerd] A few moments later, it returns in the surface of the desk itself.
[Random_Nerd] The surface of the desk is obviously not thick enough to have room for at least eight inches of toothy maw, and yet.
[Random_Nerd] It coughs out a cellular phone with some runes drawn on it.

  • DanteE catches the spat-up phone...

[Random_Nerd] The phone rings almost before Dante picks it up.
[DanteE] click. "Hello?"

  • Kite watches with excitement.

[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "This was getting annoying. Anyway, you wanted to know what sort of thing could happen if it went wrong. Well, remember the last time you guys came up here?"

  • Theresa feeds the pigeon some more seeds and some bread.

[Random_Nerd] The imp trots into the room, hops up on the table, and on his way toward Ftisk, sees the Pigeon.
[DanteE] "You mean spectral actress heads from heck?"
[Random_Nerd] He makes a little "Eeek!" sound, and then scuttles the rest of the way to Ftisk on all fours.
[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "Sure. Oh, that reminds me, I looked up the driver's license thing."
[Random_Nerd] The imp reaches into the pocket of his suit, and pulls out a kazoo, which he presents to Ftisk.

  • Fisk catch Imp and reassure him "Isn't cool? Pigeon I mean!"

[Random_Nerd] Gilbert winks at Kite with an almost-visible eyelid.
[DanteE] (what driver's license thing?)
[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "Xenia, Ohio doesn't exist."
[Fisk] "Oh and this kazoo? I was joking, but thank you"
[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "Neither do the people from there."

  • Kite cocks his head.

[Kite] (What?)
[DanteE] "Hm...
[Random_Nerd] (Remember the Floating Head of Summer Glau thing?)
[Theresa] (When we searched Summer Glau's body, there was a driver's license.)
[DanteE] "Four possibilities. It's a mistake; it's a hoax; it got Excruciated; or it's a Chancel."
[Kite] (Yes...I'm just in shock over the revelation.)
[Fisk] "Was excruciated? maybe?"
[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "I don't know about that. I just know it's in some of the more recent grimores. They suggest to be careful around anyone who comes from there, because they don't exist."
[DanteE] "When's the latest reference to it?"
[DanteE] "William, the town of Xenia, Ohio ring any bells?"
[Random_Nerd] Shadow: "Let's see... less than a year ago."
[Random_Nerd] William: "Never heard of it."
[DanteE] "Can you check your Oracle?"
[Random_Nerd] William: "Means 'hospitality', right?"
[Random_Nerd] William: "Sure. One moment."
[Theresa] "Yes, it does."
[Random_Nerd] He puts a finger to his ear-sphere.
[Random_Nerd] William: "'Xenia, Ohio does not exist. Neither do the people from there.' And there's an open request for encounters with anyone claiming to come from there. Shall I include the details of the whole floating head thing?"
[DanteE] "Better not, I think Shadows is trying to keep it under wraps."
[Brian] "Go ahead."
[Brian] "Or listen to Dante."
[Random_Nerd] William: "I could describe the creature's attributes, but not state where it was seen or in connection with whom. Would that suffice to preserve Shadows' privacy?"
[DanteE] to Shadows: "But can the problems get bigger than that?"
[DanteE] "... and did you catch what William said?"
[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "Oh, sure. If you're really unlucky, you can be pulling at the same time that the Excrucians are pushing, and get a Red Zone in your living room."
[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "The reception is kinda bad on my end. What did he say?"
[Kite] "Do the normal humans hear things about Xenia, Ohio?"
[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "It's still on the maps and so on. You can even see it on Google Earth. Looks normal."
[Fisk] "Sure gMaps have it! Just cheched"
[Kite] "Huh. Anything mundanely significant?"
[Brian] (*plugs "Xenia, Ohio" in google maps, yep, there is!)
[Fisk] (and really there is a Xenia on gMap)
[Random_Nerd] (And, yes, it's a real town.)
[Fisk] (jinx!)
[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "Gimme a moment. My internet connection's a bit slow."
[Kite] (I'm originally from Ohio. We learn about Xenia in school. :) )
[Brian] (is there anything interesting about it IRL?)
[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "Uh... it's supposed to have bad tornadoes and so on?"
[Kite] (There was a record tornado there, once.)
[Kite] "Huh."
[DanteE] "Basically, we're asking if William can send information on the head without identifying details, or do you want no information getting out?"
[Random_Nerd] (And according to Wikipedia, which is what Shadows is using, it was known to the Shawnee Indians as "the place of the devil wind" or "the land of the crazy winds" )
[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "Sure, that's cool. Just nothing tying it to me, or here."
[Kite] (Also, a librarian lost her head to that record tornado. The head was never found. My English teacher liked to tell that story.)
[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "Anyway, when do you want me to come over?"
[DanteE] to William: "OK, just make sure Shadows and Jupiter aren't attached to the account."
[Theresa] (@ Kite. We may have found Summer Glau's body-keeper!)
[Random_Nerd] William: "I won't even tie it to you, just put up an anonymous report."
[Kite] (@Theresa: Indeed! :) )
[DanteE] "Brian, when can you get the lab ready?"
[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "I guess I can free up this afternoon if you guys are ready."
[Brian] "Whenever we find a spot for it. I still nominate the basement of the library."
[Random_Nerd] William: "May I advise against that?"
[Random_Nerd] William: "As I understand it, you still don't know what that place is for."
[Random_Nerd] William: "So I worry that building a lab there might be in 'meddling in the affairs of wizards' territory."
[Random_Nerd] William: "Your call, of course. But part of my job is to say things like this."
[DanteE] "OK... Shadows, we'll call a little later. We're having a typical argument at the moment."
[Theresa] "I nominate somewhere outside of town. If we're going to possibly pull shards in, I don't want them in the _Boss' brain_"
[Theresa] (This is not demonboxing!)
[Fisk] (YES it is!)
[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "Sure. Just keep the pigeon open over there so we can connect."
[DanteE] (It kinda is.)
[Fisk] "I vote for the library! Is more cool that way! ^_^ "
[Brian] (why don't we talk to the Boss?)
[DanteE] "... is your pigeon carrying the signal?"
[Random_Nerd] (Just for the record, William there wasn't speaking as a GM proxy.)
[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "How did /you/ think this was working?"
[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "You're in a chancel, I'm not even on Earth..."
[Theresa] (Magic./)
[Fisk] "Magic?"
[Kite] "Oooh! I haven't traveled your nation, much. Was there a village you had in mind, Theresa?"
[Brian] "Boss, are you around? Can you hear me? I've got a question. Apart from the previous two, anyway..."
[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "Damn straight, magic. The pigeon's open on both ends."
[DanteE] "OK, talk to you later, Shadows."
[Random_Nerd] The kazoo sprouts legs and walks over to Brian.
[DanteE] (and what Shadows just said sounds ... wrong.)
[Random_Nerd] Kudzoo: "Hey."
[Random_Nerd] (Sorry.)
[Brian] (laugh point to the GM)
[Random_Nerd] (Couldn't resist.)

  • Kite blinks at the kazoo.
  • Fisk wave

[Theresa] "Both...ends?"
=-= YOU are now known as tentacleMoster

  • tentacleMoster wave _a lot_

[Random_Nerd] Shadows: "Magic. A wizard did it. You know, /me/."
[Theresa] (Ftisk, please don't blow our Imperator...)
[Brian] "Just wanting to know if you have any specific plans for the basement of the Windy Library, or if we can use that for setting up an experimental summoning lab. There's an unstated third option of no, but don't do that, either. Well, now it's stated."
[Random_Nerd] Kudzu: "What's the question? I can only spare a bit of attention right now. You know, Wall duty."
[tentacleMoster] (lol T!)
[DanteE] (Good night everybody! :) )
[Random_Nerd] Kudzu: "Let me think."
[Random_Nerd] Kudzu: "I'm still a bit hazy on the period during which I made that. If I had a purpose in mind at the time, I can't remember it now. Use it for whatever you want."
[Brian] "Alright. Thanks boss."

  • tentacleMoster look around the kazoo to check if it sprout a tail
  • Theresa sighs, but accepts.

[Random_Nerd] No tail. No arms, even, just legs.
[DanteE] "Any chance you feel a 'special connection' to it?"
[Random_Nerd] Kudzu: "Well, it's in my chancel, the place I like best in the world, where my very soul is buried deep in the earth."
[Random_Nerd] Kudzu: "But I don't feel, like, a /special/ special connection. If you know what I mean."
[Random_Nerd] Kudzu: "Should I?"
[DanteE] "Well, it appeared while you were 'dreaming'...
[DanteE] "Maybe remembering your past outside the wall."
[Random_Nerd] Kudzu: "Maybe. Dunno."
[Theresa] "We're planning on opening a possible hole to Outside and are picking the spot."

  • tentacleMoster poke the kazoo back gently

[Random_Nerd] Kudzu: "Let me guess. You're worried that it's a secret tunnel into my mind, and that if you mess with it I'll go nuts?"
=-= YOU are now known as Ftisk
[Random_Nerd] Kudzu: "Do you see the flaw in that position?"
[Ftisk] "You already are nuts!"
[Random_Nerd] Kudzu: "Indeed. In payment for getting that right, you may have this... kazoo."
[Random_Nerd] Kudzu: "...why was there a kazoo here?"

  • Ftisk grab the kazoo!

[DanteE] "Well, nuts in a way we're not used to."
[Theresa] "More that you'll go Excrucian, but good point, boss."
[Random_Nerd] Kudzu: "No, doesn't matter. Is there anything else?"
[Kite] (I mildly expect Kudzoo to suddenly grow at Ftisk's poke and shout, "Who's been eating my porridge?")
[Ftisk] (lol isterically at Kite words!)
[Theresa] "Not from me, boss."
[Brian] "I think we're caught up!"
[Random_Nerd] Kudzu hops in the air, turns to solid gold, and then lands on the table, legless.

  • Kite snatches the gold kazoo

[DanteE] "I still don't think it should be in the library."

  • Ftisk take the kazoo and examine it in mythic

[Theresa] (Huh, a solid gold kazoo.)
[Brian] "You were arguing /for/ the library just a while ago, Dante..."
[DanteE] "In fact, if it could become a 'red zone' it should be far away...
[DanteE] "No, I was arguing for doing it while _watching_ the library.
[Ftisk] (See Theresa, Kudzu is completely safe!)
[Theresa] "I had missed the word 'watching' too, Dante."
[Random_Nerd] Mythically, it's a tiny throne with a red bow on the top.
[Ftisk] "Details! doesn't change the matter!"
[DanteE] "I'm thinking, keep an eye on it while we do the anti-summoning from someplace safe, and see if it changes."
[Theresa] (As safe as opening a hole to Outside can be. Be safer to do it in someone else's chancel.  ;) )

  • Ftisk jump up and down in excitement "Look here!!!!"

[Ftisk] "Look at the kazoo!"
[DanteE] (Then we won't get as many answers! :P )
[Kite] "Yes?"
[Ftisk] "In mythical view"
[Kite] "I...ooooh!"
[Ftisk] "I think that Kudzu like me! First give Dante to me, now this niiice kazoo..."

  • DanteE is deliberately ignoring the 'give Dante' remark...

[Random_Nerd] (Mind if we stop here? It seems like a good place.)
[Ftisk] (but is true!, Ftisk ask him!!!)
[Ftisk] (ok, we can stop here! :-) )
[Kite] (I'm fine with stopping.)
[DanteE] (OK.)
[Random_Nerd] _______________STOP___________________
[Random_Nerd] Too silly, this time?
=-= Theresa is now known as BethE
=-= YOU are now known as Angelo
[BethE] Thank you for reminding me about Kudzu and nuts, dear.  :)
=-= DanteE is now known as Knockwood
[Angelo] nooo! I like this way!
[Angelo] ^_^
=-= Brian is now known as lazarus
[lazarus] Kudzoo is WIN
[Knockwood] It's good. We can't save the world _every_ week...
=-= Kite is now known as Verithe
[Verithe] I enjoyed it.
[Angelo] right Knock
[Angelo] Me too V.
[Random_Nerd] I'm still trying to feel my way through how to flesh out Gilbert's personality, but I think he's coming along.
[Verithe] Yay!
[Random_Nerd] Verithe, did you have any thoughts or preferences on that?
[Angelo] I really liked the exchange between sam & Will are like an old married couple
[Random_Nerd] Is the "Magic!" thing going to turn into a running joke?
[Angelo] On marriage, specifically Will’s one... is approaching right?
[Random_Nerd] Yep.
[lazarus] probably.
[Random_Nerd] His fiancee will be moving into Amyra in a week or two.
[Verithe] Not personality wise, I don't think.
[Angelo] eh, your npc cast is ever growing
[Random_Nerd] Odd side effect of how I handle NPCs in this game.
[Angelo] ah, I like how Imp is developing
[Random_Nerd] I figure that the best way to avoid the GMPC problem is to have most major recurring NPCs be people who work for you.
[Random_Nerd] But that leads to you guys picking up more of them.
[Knockwood] Well, we developed the Imp's personality ourselves...
[Random_Nerd] What do you think of his changes over the last few storylines?
[Knockwood] we're cosmic pack rats
[Angelo] no we give imp the means to develop one itself
[lazarus] I like Imp. Another way to avoid the GMPC problem is to have co-GMs who switch off, so they actually have PCs, who aren't really a part of the storylines they run. How they aren't a part is an issue related to the story of the campaign, but it's a good solution my other group's found.
[Knockwood] wanna call him 'Puck'?
[Knockwood] laz: or deliberately have the NPCs take a minor role...
[lazarus] well, we also all like GMing and playing, so rotating or co-GMing works well :D
[Knockwood] some time back I was in a Supers game, and tried out the GM thing for a while. For that game my PC was in a library far away, only involved by phone.
[Knockwood] ... uhh, did my connection buy it?
[Random_Nerd] Yes!
[lazarus] An Exalted campaign that I was playing (not GMing) in had the two GMs' characters both trapped in a magical prison, in which only one is in the prison and one in Creation at a time. It would swap out after a period of time, whose length we never really figured out (IC. OOC it was when the GMs switched :D)
[Verithe] What?
[Knockwood] granted, that let me dole out info...
[BethE] (Well, all, I need to get to bed. Good game! And see you next week!)
[Verithe] Take care, Beth!
[Angelo] Night Beth
[Random_Nerd] See you all next week.
