«angelo» Hi picciotti!
«Random_Nerd» Hey.
«BethE» Hi Angelo! *HUG*
«Verithe» 'Allo, Angelo!
«angelo» counter BethHug!
«BethE» (Oooo...http://syntheticremarks . com/?p=720 )
«lazarus» yay! I have my chair back finally! (for some reason, we tossed all our boxes in my library instead of dealing with them)
«angelo» laz, you changed home?
«lazarus» nono. Cleaning time.
«angelo» aha
«lazarus» annual inspection (renter's peril) on Monday.
«lazarus» and Sara works between yesterday and Monday. Sigh.
«lazarus» so it is up to me to get the entire house clean.
«lazarus» whee!
«lazarus» I wonder if those WoW cards I have have /any/ value. I am fairly sure that the Hero: Immortal King game I have doesn't have any value - the game is broken, and the designer said he designed it to be unwinnable in many cases (like, not just strategy unwinnable, but mechanically so)
«Random_Nerd» (Is it wrong that I slightly like that?)
«lazarus» (which is a shame, because the art is nice, and it uses a d12!)
«lazarus» (and solo! Except you can't win. Ever.)
«lazarus» (listen, designer, if you have stat + equipment bonus + d12 vs monster rating, don't have stats in the 3-6 range, one one-time +3 bonus, and multiple monster ratings over 20. One or two maybe, but more than that? Mechanically unwinnable! Worse than "get no tea"!)
«Verithe» I don't think WoW cards have any value, since a ton of them are just given away and I don't think it's completely wrong to have a landlady nervous to talk to you.
«Random_Nerd» So, while we wait for Knock, any thoughts about the game?
«lazarus» I should get more Crichton books. I only have Timeline, Sphere, and The Andromeda Strain (which I haven't yet read). He's written better than Timeline (though it's still pretty ok), and most of his writing is very readable.
«Verithe» And it's more acceptable if you know it's going to be a short-term relationship.
«lazarus» I'm mostly just musing around. I don't think I have any game thoughts, other than no news about Etheric?
«Random_Nerd» I got an email from him earlier this week, but I don't know for sure if he's going to be here.
«Verithe» Thoughts about the game: May Kite anchor Gil while they're in the same location?
«lazarus» (Have I warned you guys yet that I don't yet know what class I'm taking, and it might be Thursdays 6-9PM, meaning I'd either have to miss, or be late, for about six weeks?)
«Random_Nerd» Sure, if you want to anchor him.
«Random_Nerd» (If you have to, you have to.)
«Random_Nerd» (Education trumps gaming.)
«Random_Nerd» (We can just have Brian be working on something off-camera for a while, if we have to.)
«lazarus» (it would be the last course for my degree. Of course, I haven't got all my marks back for this semester yet, so I don't know if it actually would be!)
«Verithe» I do! I just don't know if we're leaving the Chancel just yet or not.
«Random_Nerd» Which reminds me, exam week is coming up, so the next two weeks are cancelled.
«lazarus» [in other news, sweet! I have a copy of Asimov's Nightfall! Short story as well as novel - short story was better, though the novel was neat in its world expansion]
«Verithe» Okay!
«Random_Nerd» For that matter, if you want to have him anchored but don't have an idea for an anchoring scene, you can have done it off-camera if you like.
«lazarus» oh right. Last week I tried to recruit HQB into my war.
«BethE» I keep thinking now, of HQB, as QB from Madoka... @.@
«angelo» I have a weird thought: *IF* Ftisk ...go into a bed with Conrad ... is this self-eroticism or a relationship?
«Random_Nerd» You're not his type!
«BethE» Is Conrad into snails?
«Random_Nerd» He's not even /into/... dammit.
«Verithe» Is Conrad into Conrad?
«angelo» lol not Ftisk one!
«lazarus» (HQB ... HB is a halfback, QB is a quarterback ... HQB = half-quarter-back? Eighth Back? EB?)
«BethE» I can see Rochquefort being into himself, but Conrad seems to be of a different personality.
«Random_Nerd» (TEB. Three Eighths Back.)
«lazarus» anyone play either Star Fleet Battles or Federation Commander?
--»| Knockwood (~chatzilla@MagicStar-E048CE2B.dhcp.reno.nv.charter.com) has joined #Nobilis
«angelo» no and no
«angelo» Hi Knock!
«Knockwood» Higuys, sorry I'm late
«lazarus» hey kwd
«BethE» Hi Knock!
«Verithe» (I need my wife's cheesy snacks to not be near me or I'll eat them all...)
«angelo» move the snacks into another room V.
«Random_Nerd» Hey, Knock.
«lazarus» (move the cheesy snacks into my house. You won't have a problem with them anymore, V!)
«Verithe» (Hah!)
«Knockwood» (OK, starting to wonder if the people on RPOpen even see me.
«Random_Nerd» On the forum?
«Knockwood» (responded to 4 threads, only 1 continued.)
«Random_Nerd» Oh, everyone channels the Killer of Threads sometimes.
«lazarus» (in totally other news, woot I found the printout I made of Star Wars Saga Edition NPC cards I designed! I can redo them now! and then improve them!)
«Random_Nerd» You just don't notice it when it happens to other people, pretty much by definition.
«Knockwood» Good point
«lazarus» (still kinda a moot point there, as I'll never get to play SWSE. No one in my groups likes playing Star Wars RPGs :()
«Random_Nerd» Okay. So, was there anything else you guys had wanted to say in the talk with HQB and GJC?
«Knockwood» (One was about Lexicon Games: http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?572615-Lexicon-games )
«angelo» Gjc?
«angelo» ah, Caesar!
«Random_Nerd» Yah.
«Knockwood» Let's see, where and when will we be meeting Vassa?
«Random_Nerd» Well, that's going to take some setting up.
«BethE» I was enjoying the fine hospitality of Chancel Vulcan. Where street urchins are given the task of billeting Excrucians.
«Random_Nerd» First, you need to get as much political support for it as possible, and second, Vulcan has to finish building a mini-world to use for it.
«lazarus» we were told something about Kudzu should know? Also, that we could name-drop "HQB". Which is excellent.
«Knockwood» ... Etheric's still gone?
«Random_Nerd» Looks like!
«Knockwood» laz: well, we could do that ever since he gave us these kewl tattoos.
«Random_Nerd» I'd gotten the impression he was going to be here this time...
«Random_Nerd» But hey.
«lazarus» and we have to make sure that when we kill Entropy, everyone knows HQB was /not/ involved. (which will get everyone to believe he was, but there you go)
«BethE» What did we have to tell Kudzu?
«lazarus» that the Excrucians want to have a meeting?
«Random_Nerd» Or, at least, /an/ Excrucian.
=-= BethE is now known as Theresa
«lazarus» (it could get Kudzu back in Vulcan's good graces, if things go right with all this, I think, which could lead to Kudzu getting what he wanted of Vulcan, which I don't remember what it was)
=-= lazarus is now known as Brian
«Knockwood» Kudzu has heard of Vassa, remember.
«Theresa» (I think he asked for a mecha.)
«Brian» (that's how I, at least, intend to sell this to Kudzu)
«Verithe» A saddle, I thought.
=-= Knockwood is now known as DanteE
«Random_Nerd» A saddle, yes. Let me find the quote.
«Brian» oh yeah, he wanted to go Serpent-riding
«Random_Nerd» Oh, and a lance.
«angelo» he want to be a knight serpent riding!
«Random_Nerd» Either the Serpent or Monty.
=-= YOU are now known as Ftisk
«Random_Nerd» Or both!
«Ftisk» why not both?
«DanteE» how big is Monty now?
«Brian» he'd need to find a Serpent who would want to be a warhorse, too.
«Verithe» A serpent-monty!
«Random_Nerd» Smaller than a Serpent, bigger than Godzilla.
«Ftisk» Monty-zilla?
«Verithe» He did make rabbit-headed, six-winged snakes a while back, ja?
«Theresa» I don't think that Jerri would go for it.
«Brian» (Have y'all heard of the upcoming Godzilla board game? I don't know if it has Mothra, sadly. It /does/ have plastic buildings that appear to be part of the game mechanics!)
«DanteE» Oh yeah, Sam is in Hell with Paterns
«Brian» right. And Patterns actually agreed to meet with me ... kinda, anyway ... in Sam's body.
«Random_Nerd» To the extent that he meets with anyone.
«DanteE» What were you planning, Brian?
«Random_Nerd» So, let's see. Should we start back in Locus Vulcan?
«Brian» I was planning to convince him he should be on our side :p
«Verithe» Yes! :D
«DanteE» OK.
«Brian» and Locus Vulcan is ok
«Theresa» Umm...Brian? How?
«Ftisk» sure
=-= Verithe is now known as Kite
«Theresa» Also, you're not the honest one.
«Brian» I know he doesn't trust me - he doesn't trust /anyone/.
«DanteE» except maybe me
«Random_Nerd» Try convincing him that /you're/ on /his/ side, or at least a useful tool for him.
«Theresa» You'd be trying to manipulate someone who not only has hidden his own body so others can't get at it, including his Imperator, but he can _see_ the connections betweeen whatever you say and what is actual.
«Kite» And he might have the Voice working for him!
«Random_Nerd» So, I see two scenes here. One, Brian/Sam with Patterns. Two, the Brothers Warmain being examined by Vulcan.
«Brian» I'm actually fairly sure I can convince him that Entropy is going to destroy Creation, which is where Patterns keeps his stuff.
«Random_Nerd» Anything else I'm forgetting that you'd be doing?
«Brian» (I mean, if /Jan Ben Jan/ can't tell if it's going to happen, then there's no way Patterns can)
«DanteE» (Everyone check their Destiny maps)
«Theresa» Kite was wanting to anchor Gil.
«Kite» Yes!
«Brian» there's a scene of talking to Kudzu, but that can wait, I think.
«Theresa» I forget, does Brian have Durant?
«Ftisk» And I can try my possession gift/prj on some poor Vulcanian
«Brian» not Durant. Immutable - which got a boost this edition.
«Random_Nerd» Okay. Then should we try to do the Gil Anchoring scene and Brian meeting with Patterns at once?
«DanteE» That reminds me... what does Sacrosanct mean in v3? Doesn't seem to have that.
«Kite» If you're up to it.
«Brian» up to you, RN: you're the one to coordinate it!
«Ftisk» as the other say.
«DanteE» (Who has money in the get RNs brain to smoke pool?)

  • Theresa is just expecting Brian to get his face ripped off if he missteps with Patterns. ^^ Or I guess a wound to not be holding his face in his hands...literally.

«Random_Nerd» Well, as you have it, it's basically Durant Plus. Nothing about how it works has changed, as far as I can see.
«DanteE» OOPS, that should have been private... :P
«Brian» (I had mine on "RN secretly upgraded to a hexacore brain")
«Theresa» (I don't because he's seen me run three scenes all at once in my Buffy game. If I can do it, he can probably do it while half-asleep.  :) )
«Random_Nerd» ______________START________________
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "You wanted to see me, boss?"
«DanteE» (Did we wind up where we were, or with Theresa and Kite?)
«Random_Nerd» You, he, and whichever Nobles tagged along are in Kite's office/rooms. Kite, what do those look like?
«Random_Nerd» (Where do you want to be?)
«Theresa» (If there are people in the background, I expect to see Ftisk float-bobbing after someone to try and possess them... )
«DanteE» (Ah... probably observing the Shards)
«Ftisk» (I think Ftisk will go with the excrus to Vulcan examination)
«Theresa» (I'm in Chancel Vulcan, but I don't think I would be at Gil's anchoring. That's..private to me. Except when Brian date-anchored his Anchor.)
«Kite» "Gil!"
«Random_Nerd» (Okay. We'll go to the Shards after the Gil scene is done, because two at once is plenty.)
«Random_Nerd» Meanwhile, Sam is standing in a room that's made of unfinished granite. It's illuminated by a diagonal slash of metal on the wall, glowing bright
«Random_Nerd» ...yellow.
«Random_Nerd» (Presumably, Brian is in Sam's head.)
«Theresa» (Yellow? Please tell me that's not sodium...)
«Kite» "I have come to the conclusion that communication via quilt is inefficient. Would you like to be my Anchor?"
«Random_Nerd» Sam, talking to himself out loud: "Okay, boss. He said to go here and wait for him to come."
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "If I wasn't at least willing to become an anchor, I wouldn't have signed up for a job as the majordomo of a specific Noble."
«Brian» (to S) "Thanks, Sam. How's it feel to be an Ash-traveller?"
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "But yes, I think it would be fine. We seem to have a good working relationship."
«DanteE» (Specific?)
«Random_Nerd» Sam: "Weird. I felt widely travelled since I'd been on two worlds. Two!"
«Kite» "Good! I wasn't sure how Anchoring interacts with your contract."
«Random_Nerd» (Unlike William, who works for all of you, Gil works for Kite specifically.)
«Ftisk» (and Luc that would _not_ work for me)
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "I will remain bound by my promises to the Aides, as long as they don't require me to work against your interests. Other than that, my loyalty will be to you alone."
«Kite» "..."
«Kite» "So how does this work, exactly?"
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "Blood or tears are traditional, but I understand that there are other methods. Ah... do you /have/ blood or tears?"
«Kite» "I do. Where do I put them?"
«Random_Nerd» Sam: "So, he said that he was going to arrange for communication with you in a confidential way."
«DanteE» ("Here, chug this transmission fluid." :) )

  • Kite prepares a feather.

«Brian» (do electric birds dream of android anchors?)
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "Well, normally I'd drink them, but I don't drink... liquids. At least, I don't have a throat or any of that.
«Kite» (Kite, the Anchor virgin...)
«Random_Nerd» He rolls up a sleeve, exposing a mostly invisible arm, with dark red and blue blood vessels and a scattering of dark dustlike specks spinning through the empty space.
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "Drop it on here, and I should be able to absorb it."
«Random_Nerd» Sam paces around a bit.
«Kite» "Alright."
«Random_Nerd» Sam: "So..."
«Random_Nerd» In rapid succession, a few things happen in Sam's room. First, the door is replaced by a blank wall.
«Random_Nerd» Second, the glowing bar of metal goes out.

  • Kite shifts to human form and makes a cut in his finger with a feather and drips the blood onto Gil's arm.

«Brian» (what's it look like to other viewpoints?)
«Random_Nerd» Third, the walls are suddenly tiled with white glowing lines, tracing the borders of what look to be Penrose tiles.
«Brian» (Sight/Mythic/whatever)
«Random_Nerd» And fourth, the interior of the room fills with a dark mist.
«Random_Nerd» (Which?)
«Random_Nerd» (Mythically, you're in... to Brian, it looks like a faraday cage made of living worms of light.)
«Random_Nerd» (To Sam, it looks like you're inside some kind of living creature. Then, Sam's viewpoint aligns with Brian's.)
«Brian» (Brian will check both Sight and Mythic, and any others he can shift to)
«Random_Nerd» (To the Sight, you can see that the room has been affected by a Motion of Spaces and then a Preservation of Secrets.)
«Brian» (S) "This certainly counts as confidential. I think. This is a cool trick."
«Random_Nerd» (Note that a Motion is usually not required to just move something from one physical location to another.)
«Random_Nerd» The cloud opens two sharply angled "eyes"
«DanteE» (Reminds me... you should consider making that Zeno's Shield thing in case we need to throw down.)
«Brian» (Zeno's Shield?)
«Random_Nerd» Cloud: "I borrowed part of it from Luc. He has similar protections to remote divination. I have, of course, made enhancements and refinements of my own."
«DanteE» (Dramatically increases the distance an attack has to go through to hit whatever's behind it.)
«Brian» (ah! I remember musing about such a thing :))
«DanteE» (You remember Zeno's Paradox?)
«Brian» (S) "Luc can do things like this? I didn't know that!"
«Random_Nerd» (He's using two Gifts. One moves a specified space to an undisclosed non-location. It's not as similar to Caesar's trick as it looks.)
«Brian» (perhaps, but not by name at this point. Is his the fractional thing?)
«Random_Nerd» Cloud: "I don't believe he does it personally, but that it's a gift from some Noble."
«Kite» to Gil: "I also have another matter I would like you to research."
«Random_Nerd» (His second one is a pretty standard Preservation of Secrets, with some built in Strike that's booster further with one of his Bonds.)
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "Yes?"
«Random_Nerd» The blood diffuses through his arm.
«DanteE» (I think so. Wikipedia has it as 'the dichotomy paradox')
«Brian» (S) "Anyway. Patterns? I'm sure you'll forgive me for being paranoid, especially at a time like this, but I'd like some proof of identity. When a cloud speaks to me, the cloud could be any one of a large number of people."
«Random_Nerd» It's a slightly different color than his own personal blood, so you can track the specks of it drifting through his flesh until they enter his veins.
«Random_Nerd» A little bit later, the two are indistinguishable.
«Brian» (the one I'm thinking of is the "divide by halves" thing that actually deals with the concept of infinitesimals.)
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "What would you accept as proof?"
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "To what extent have you told others about our previous encounters?"
«DanteE» (Oh yeah, Achilles and the Tortoise)
«Random_Nerd» (Oh, with the arrow?)
«Kite» "I want to look into the possibility of sharing Estates with the Outside. I would like for you to research what known previous attempts have been made and their results."
«Brian» (S) "Normally I would accept a form as proof, but the fact that I don't believe I've actually encountered a form of yours inhibits this. I have not gone out of my way to hide our previous encounters, in fact preferring to keep them to myself."
«DanteE» (the Paradoxes of Motion under http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeno%27s_paradoxes )
«Brian» (Brian's version of proof of being is strange. By "form" he doesn't just mean physical shape, but also attitude and things that if he had higher Aspect he could tell a lot better than he actually can)
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "This is an anchor, not my physical body."
«Kite» "I imagine there won't be any successes or everyone would be aware of it by now."
«Theresa» (Huh, is it the Voice?)
«Ftisk» (Bckground snail voice: "K00L!!!")
«Random_Nerd» The cloud's eyes turn a different color for a moment, bluer, and it speaks in a different voice: "Or I could vouch for him."
«Random_Nerd» (I forget, did Brian meet the Voice?)
«Brian» (um. I don't think so. I think it was a session I missed?)
«Random_Nerd» (Oh, and the cloud isn't actually part of the Voice's body, more like... a cloud of ink created by a squid, perhaps?)
«DanteE» (oops)
«Random_Nerd» (But it /looks/ like a cloud with glowing eye-slits.)
«Random_Nerd» (It was one of the applicants for the role of Kite's high priest.)
«Brian» (But Brian was at the interviews for that. So he probably did some off-screen meeting)
«Random_Nerd» (Okay.)
«Random_Nerd» (You're /reasonably/ certain that this is the same odd entity that you met at that time. You're not 100% certain, because you don't know what it actually is, and maybe whatever-it-is-es all look alike and sound alike. But it seems like it's the same one.)
«Random_Nerd» Gil seems to be thinking
«Brian» "Good enough, I think. So, here's some information that you probably don't have - or, at least, completing some information that you have partial of."
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "You may want the Botanists for that."
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "Us Aides don't do exotic applied theology. We tend to handle the more practical side of things."
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "But there are those who do that sort of thing, either theoretically or experimentally."
«DanteE» (Theresa should be meeting the Botanists anyway)
«Random_Nerd» Voice, in the Patterns voice: "About Entropy. Ananda. And their guest."
«Kite» to Gil: "Tell me about these Botanists. I didn't know the study of plants dealt with such things."
«Brian» "There are books dealing with the Kings. Prophecies of destruction and the like. Not much about the /why/ of them, or /who/, or really anything beyond Bad Things Happen. The first King is nicknamed Shirk, and named Sueridias [sp?]. His coming was to be shown by the shirking of duty."
«Kite» to Gil: "Or is Theresa hiding something?"
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "I have observed this phenomenon. It was pleasing to find the cause."
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "Well, you know about the history of Flowers, right?"
«Theresa» (I don't know what they would think of Theresa. Be happy to meet her, yes, but in a regular way or in a mad scientist 'welcome lovely subject!' sort of way?)
«Brian» "This entity is Entropy's guest in Creation. And is an Excrucian. And declared - and upheld in a Council vote with Ananda voting in Entropy's favor - that the shirking of duty was a side effect and not a conscious attack."
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "The capital-F kind, I mean."
«Kite» "With Heaven and the Angels and such?"
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "Yeah, those ones."
«Kite» "Yes."
«Brian» "There are two additional things we have learned that makes this especially interesting, beyond what some of us fear will happen - which we'll get to in a bit."
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "And you, in a fit of paranoia, assumed that this was part of a scheme to destroy the world?"
«Kite» (Patterns is calling Brian paranoid?)
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "Well, you know how they're symbols, tools, ways to focus miraculous energy in specific ways?"
«Random_Nerd» (This is as close as Patterns gets to telling a joke.)
«Brian» "The first is that some of the texts on the Kings refer to Entropy as one of these Kings, though it is unclear whether they are libel or fact."
«Brian» (yeah :))
«Kite» to Gil: "I think I see where this is going, but take me further."
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "The botanists... make /new/ flowers, or try to. They're mortals, mostly. Humans, dionyl, jouten."
«Brian» "The second thing is that the Excrucian [bugger, I can't remember names tonight. Vsomething] sent some Shards -Warmains, mind- with instructions to set up diplomatic relations to discuss this matter, for Shirk is apparently acting /against/ that Excrucian faction."
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "It's like a particular form of alchemy, focused on living things rather than chemicals and essences."
«Random_Nerd» Voice, in what sounds like Brian's voice: "Go on."
«Brian» "Things get especially interesting when Jan Ben Jan did not wish to be asked the question about whether a civil war is the correct thing to do at this point. He did not even want to name a /cost/ for the question."
«DanteE» (Vassa)
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "Was he unwilling to name a price, or unable?"
«DanteE» (And were they asked to set up diplomatic relations, or just find out what's going on?)
«Brian» "Jan Ben Jan will not even prophesy on the matter. We are all operating blind in this. Unwilling, not unable."
«Random_Nerd» (Vassa didn't technically send them to set up diplomatic relations, so much as say "Figure out what's up, and don't kill anyone. Do what you have to.")
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "Interesting. Did Jan say anything else of note?"
«Brian» "The difference was that rather than saying that the question cannot be answered or does not have a price, he appeared to get afraid and say 'do not ask me to do this'."
«Kite» to Gil: "I see. Would you be able to get me in contact with a Botanist?"
«Theresa» (Jan said we can kill Entropy with a rock.)
«Brian» "There was another interesting thing he said. He does not know the answer to how to save Creation, for it costs more than he has accumulated."
«DanteE» (and he likes kidneys.)
«Brian» "of course, he didn't say it directly."
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "Easily. Is there anything you wish that I tell them, other than that a meeting should be set up?"
«Brian» "but it was his implication."
«DanteE» (Oh... and he told us how Patterns can be 'freed'.)
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "What did he charge for this knowledge?"
«Random_Nerd» (He didn't, of course. He hinted as strongly as he could within his rules, while technically just haggling about the price.)
«Brian» "Nothing that I can remember. I asked how much it would cost, and he said that it would be more than a hypothetical Imperator who has been charging for answering questions has accumulated."
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "In this, he seemed to be acting on his /own/ behalf?"
«Brian» "Perhaps."
«Kite» to Gil: "Probably that I wish to see research on sharing Estates with the Outside."
«Kite» to Gil: "Will they be wanting payments of any sort?"
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "Okay. Jan ben Jan acting out of character. Entropy acting... at least more blatantly. Ananda... possibly acting out of character too, but so much of a cipher it's hard to say for sure."
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "To meet with them, or to do research?"
«Brian» "I tell you all this, so that hopefully you can make some sense of events, and hopefully see the danger before it happens. I would hope you would want to help me and my Familia in our attempts to save Creation, or let us know if you think it is the wrong path."
«DanteE» (Kite: mention that we have Plants with us.)
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "How would you go about killing Entropy?"
«Brian» "Jan Ben Jan, as I said, seemed /scared/. He doesn't /get/ scared. And apparently, I would go about it with a rock. There are a half-dozen in Creation that would do." (half-dozen? Several dozen? Something like that)
«Random_Nerd» (Half dozen sounds right.)
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "Interesting. Cain's Rock?"
«Brian» "Not only. Besides, the Abhorrent Rock is currently not in Creation."
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "How do you know?"
«Theresa» (Huh? I don't remember that one.)
«Brian» "I don't precisely know the properties of such rocks."
«Theresa» (I thought it just wasn't on Earth.)
«Brian» "I ask my Domain 'How many Abhorrent Rocks are in Creation?' and I get back '0'. Or did, last time I asked, anyway."
«Kite» to Gil: "I am uncertain what the phrasing of your question means. Also, I getting the nagging sensation that they should be made aware that Theresa is with us."
«Brian» "Quantification is a useful thing."
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "How much force did you apply?"
«Kite» (^am)
«Brian» "Hm. Good point. I can do a more forceful divination, if you wish."
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "The Botanists don't undertake commissions from Nobles. They won't start working on it just because you want them to."
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "But if they're already working on something related, they'd probably be glad to compare notes."
«Kite» "I want to see their notes, since I intend to research on my own."
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "But, for the time being, either outside Creation, or in the keeping of someone who wishes to keep its location hidden. And someone not Cain."
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "That's not his methodology."
«Brian» "Besides, there are more rocks that I personally can use to kill Entropy that are not Abhorrent Rocks. Which says something."
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "Okay. I'll tell them that you're working on a project they might find interesting, and you want to meet with anyone on their side who's working on it."
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "Also interesting. You don't know what makes these rocks unique, or what methodology you would use?"
«Brian» "Not yet. Blame Jan Ben Jan, again."
«Theresa» (Well, the moon is a rock. There's a rock at the middle of the Sun maybe...)
«Brian» "And there are more paths that lead to me, personally, starting a Civil War against Entropy than there are that do not lead to such."
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "Do you have plans on how to get him off the Earth?"
«Brian» (the moon is /sometimes/ a rock.)
«Brian» "Would that be necessary?"
«DanteE» (Maybe it just means we can triumph using the Power of Rock. :) )
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "It would make it much easier."
«Theresa» (Jack Black?)
«Random_Nerd» (Oh, and I checked, and the number of rocks that Brian could use to kill Entropy is twenty-seven.)
«Brian» (simply just assassinating him on Vulcan's new planet would just destabilize the situation and lead to badness, as opposed to a civil war which could end up with restructuring things)
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "It would sever him from some of his resources, and some of his spiritual strength."
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "How do you want me to describe the project?"
«Brian» "True. Mostly I just don't want to fight him in his Chancel. If we successfully get HQB on our side, we can declare the Council broken, and so can get Entropy out of there, at least at times. He's not one who would hide, if lording himself over others requires being present."
«Random_Nerd» (Oh, and Vulcan isn't making a 'planet', as such, but a 'world.')
«DanteE» (You're saying a huge war is a _better_ option?)
«Kite» to Gil: "I'm not quite sure...."
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "Should I improvise?"
«Brian» (actually, yeah. Sounds like it. Brian doesn't want the fallout from assassination. War is extremely messy, but opens up better methods for restructure, at least in his mind)
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "I have, of course, engaged in thought experiments on how to kill Entropy."
«Kite» "That might be best. Just don't get too carried away."
«Brian» "I apologize, I am already speaking as if you would be with us. Though I figure that with a choice between siding with us and lack of Creation, you'd prefer to side with us."
«Kite» "Or, if you do, let me know."
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "The best method I can think of would be to first lure Entropy off of Earth, and then induce Baalhermon to do it."
«Brian» "Interesting."
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "Okay. Should we go see about the Shards and the experiment, now?"
«Theresa» (o.O Wouldn't that be a form of...suicide?)
«Brian» "I suppose my Question to Jan Ben Jan was, after all, what is the best way for /me/ to kill Entropy. The answer was 'with a rock'. I don't know what that means."
«Kite» "Sounds good."
«Brian» (amusingly, Patterns' ultra-paranoia is why Brian trusts him :p)
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "And you don't know if it means using a rock to bash his head in, using it to lure him somewhere he'd be vulnerable, using it to bribe someone else to do it?"
«Random_Nerd» Gil: "As I understand it, he didn't want them to see the Forge, so he's arranged a separate workspace for this. Let's go and see what's up."
«Random_Nerd» (Sorry about keeping the rest of you waiting this long, guys.)
«Brian» "I don't know yet. I need to find at least a few of these rocks, and find out their properties. How they could be used."
«DanteE» (s'okay, there's a lot going on)
«Kite» "That would be correct. I'm curious what he has planned."
«Ftisk» (no pro RN)
«Brian» "How much foresight do you have, by the way? Are you able to see what may happen with this?"
«Random_Nerd» Voice, in Theresa's voice: "Which one of us are you talking to, there?"
«Theresa» (I think it's cool! No problem, dear.  :) )
«Brian» (T's voice?!)
«Theresa» (Bah. I don't sound like that! Recordings never sound right.  ;) )
«Brian» (Brian takes a double-check at that) "I suppose, either. My suspicion of what I know about the Estate of Patterns is that Patterns-you would be able to see the interactions leading to probable futures. Voice, I don't know a thing about you."
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan is waiting with Conrad and Rochefort in the workspace. It's a large room, painted very, very white, with much the feel of one of those clean rooms they build huge telescopes in.
«Theresa» (Does Vulcan have to wear little paper booties?)

  • Kite bows to Vulcan

«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "I don't know the future. I'm not Jan ben Jan, or Ananda. I do not even /trust/ the future. But at knowing the present, few can best me."

  • Ftisk bow too

«DanteE» (OK, considering I probably followed the Shards...)
«Random_Nerd» In the room, potted plants of strange and exotic types are arranged in a very precise pattern, that appears to have been worked out with a large compass and straightedge
«Ftisk» (or we are already in the room with the shards?)
«Kite» to Conrad and Rochefort: "Has Anthony treated you well?"
«Random_Nerd» (Yeah, all of you can be there if you want.)
«Random_Nerd» Rochefort: "He didn't know where I could find loose women, even after I defined the term for him."
«Theresa» (Vulcan can place me as well.  :) )
«Kite» "I'll look into that."
«Random_Nerd» In the center of the room is something that looks a lot like a cross between a sextant, a prism, and a light show.

  • Ftisk extract a paper map with circles on it "You had to ask me"

«Random_Nerd» Some of it is made of glass, some of brass, and some of shapes of glowing light that hang in the air unsupported.
«Random_Nerd» To Kite and Ftisk, it has the look of something that Vulcan threw together in a hurry.
«DanteE» (Lemme guess, Creation's Most Amazing Toaster.)
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "And as for me... I know things, sometimes. The things that I can tell people that will produce the most pronounced effect."

  • Ftisk ohhh and ahhh a bit as polite acknowledge to dad Vulcan

«Brian» "That's nifty. Can you tell me anything about the upcoming possible-probable-War?"
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "But I only know them as I say them. I told Kite something that appears to have been a foreshadowing of Shirk's coming."
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "But I didn't know it until I said it."
«Brian» (as Brian defines the term, possible = p(event) < .5 and probable = p(event) > .5. He doesn't have a term for p(event) = .5. This bugs him.)
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "It's not a controllable process. It's not even really /about/ prophecy, except incidentially, when the right thing to say /happens/ to be about the future."
«Brian» (but he's slightly appeased by the knowledge that in an infinite spectrum, p( p(event) = .5 ) = 0.)
«DanteE» (but he has a solid grasp on what's happening now?)
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "But it's what I can do. I speak to people unexpectedly, when they think they're alone, in a way that changes their lives. My new master is teaching me how to do it with a purpose, to fit it into a larger plan."
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "But I'm still learning."
«Brian» "Sounds like you suit Patterns' purposes."
«Random_Nerd» (Which 'he', Knock?)
«DanteE» (hm... Voice and/or Patterns. Together...)
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "I would have preferred Assembly. But I wasn't what he needed."
«Brian» "as the Stones said, you can't always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, you just might get what you need. Diverging from the Stones, here, we notice that getting what you need is not exactly getting what you want. In other words, the Stones were wise in saying the Universe is laughing at us."
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "I am... weak, at the present moment. I have been busy."
«Brian» "Can either of you tell me how to know if my path is the right one?"
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "Can't."
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "If I knew what the right path was, things would be further along."
«DanteE» (hm... maybe you need to sneak in Undercover of the Night with some Brown Sugar, then Paint It Black, and become a Street Fighting Man in order to achieve some Satisfaction... if, indeed, the Stones are the key to defeating Entropy. :D )
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan adjusts several knobs and levers on the device.
«Brian» (... I did not even notice that one!)
«Brian» (but there were and are less than 27 Stones.)
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "Ftiskaaaakh, you first."
«Ftisk» "Yes"

  • Ftisk jump in the machinery

«Brian» "I don't doubt I am doing the right thing. I doubt my ability to convince others of the fact."
«Theresa» (Maybe they have had to go through multiple Keith Richards.)

  • Ftisk tries to look around at all 360° at once

«Random_Nerd» The eyes disappear, and then you see a glow from within Sam's torso.
«Brian» (he's either the Power of Addiction, or of Immortality)
«Random_Nerd» Voice, from inside Samuel: "That, I can do. Sometimes, when the right person is alone."
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "But it doesn't work all that well on Nobles, at least unless I bring a lot of my own force to bear."
«Theresa» I'm afraid to think what Johnny Depp is. My guess is that Creation doesn't know either.)
«Random_Nerd» (That is, by using Treasure miracles of high levels. And Patterns' Treasure rating sucks.)
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan examines Ftisk through the machine
«Random_Nerd» While doing so, he gestures at the plants, and several of them slide to slightly different positions.
«Brian» "Probably can't really be useful for convincing those who truly matter - those with Noble or Imperial power."
«Random_Nerd» Rochefort: "So, what's the idea here, exactly?"
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "Convincing them by raw miraculous force or insight is about as easy, on average, as killing them."
«Brian» "... that is true."
«DanteE» (See that button marked 'Puree'?)

  • Ftisk stay not very still and answer "The idea is to understand better how Tempering work"

«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "Less, for some. Many have stronger protections against death than against persuasion. But harder, for others."
«Theresa» (I think he's calibrating the Fung Shway.. (yes, I know, my spelling sucks.))
«Random_Nerd» Rochefort: "Why, though?"
«Brian» "A failing us Nobilis and our Imperial overlords have is the belief that we're Right, and being unwavering from."
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "That is not one of my failings. But it is a common one."
«Brian» (which is a rather ironic thing for Brian to be saying at this point, because he's convinced he's Right, and not that he's running bullheaded into thinking he's Right.)
«Ftisk» "Because I'm a beautifully butterfly and all need to be done in my image?" *pout*
«Random_Nerd» (Patterns is talking bullshit here, of course.)
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "Okay. Now the tempered one."

  • Ftisk jump out

«DanteE» (And Dante is playing the Voice of Reason by saying wait, let Entropy save Creation first.)
«Ftisk» "So, I can assure you no pain or intrusive methods were involved!"
«DanteE» "What all does that thing look for?"
«Random_Nerd» Rochefort holds out his plumed hat and sword belt, waiting for someone to take them.
«Brian» (every Nobilis group needs a Voice of Reason. Nothing ever says it has to be the same PC story to story)

  • DanteE takes the hat and belt...
  • Ftisk take the items from R.

«Random_Nerd» (Oh, and incidentally, you've never seen him use the sword on his belt, even in a fight. He's always used his blade-hand gift.)
«Random_Nerd» Then he smirks and strides to the machine.
«Brian» "I think my next task is to find others to recruit to the cause, and then find the rocks."

  • DanteE does a quick blade div on the sword...

«Brian» "I need to study the rocks."
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "If you can find them, my new Anchor may be a useful tool in convincing them, or at least, of making them doubt."
«Random_Nerd» The blade seems to be 100% mundane, from Earth, and two hundred and eighty years old.)
«DanteE» Anything on former owners?
«Theresa» (The sword just looks cool. It's not about being _useful._)
«Brian» "Thank you for the use of the Voice. ... by the way, Voice, do you know what you are? I have not yet, to my knowledge, encountered another like you."
«Random_Nerd» (You need a greater divination to know about its past owners.)
«Ftisk» *loudly* "See Ronchefort, I believe we all have to gain in a mutual knowledge, If there can be more tempered being in the future, we can have a greater understanding between out 2 factions"
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "No. I know things I need to know, to make people uneasy."
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "So far, I have never needed to know what I am."
«Brian» "Interesting."
«Random_Nerd» It moves up to the interior of Sam's head.
«Brian» "Does that perturb you at all?"
«DanteE» to William: "Ftisk is the only known tempering on this side, right?"
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan works his instrument.
«Kite» (Which implies that what it is wouldn't make anyone uneasy?)
«Ftisk» (and is not the honest one here)
«Random_Nerd» William: "There are always rumors... but he's the only solid and confirmed one that we're aware of."
«Random_Nerd» William: "Others may have kept it secret, however. Probably some have."
«Brian» "I guess not knowing would probably make you more uneasy than knowing. Or does your knowledge thing not apply to unceasing yourself?"
«Ftisk» "We have to be proud of what we are Will!"
«Kite» "My Brother does not know how to keep secrets."
«Brian» (Can I teleport Sam with a Treasure miracle?)
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "My mind does not seem to work in such a way as for ease and unease to apply in the way that they do for most that I speak to."
«Random_Nerd» (Hmm. You can teleport him /to/ you with one, but otherwise no.)
«Ftisk» "right Dante? I'm proud of being what I am and would really like to let anyone know of what I fell" *blink*
«Brian» "Nuts. And I guess my knowing what you are is insufficient unease to cause you to know what you are. Intriguing."
«Kite» (Unless you turn Sam into a teleporting machine! You can do that, right? ;) )
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "If you were wondering, he's speaking the truth. His mind is... novel."
«DanteE» "Ah... 'proud'. Right. That's the word."
«Theresa» (Novel? A long read?)
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "It is easier for me to cause you to feel unease by /not/ saying what I am, Brian."

  • Kite noogies Ftisk.

«Brian» "I'm not sure what would cause me more unease, whether knowing the Voice is from Creation or Outside. I'm assuming from Inside, which means that ... well, actually, probably on that matter I don't know."
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "Oh, and by the way? One of you friends died a week ago, and nobody told you."
«Brian» "oooooooooo, Trained Memory Mice."

  • Ftisk pout at Kite "bah, rules, rules!"

«Brian» "Which friend?"
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "This is interesting. As per the agreement, I'm only looking at the Tempering."
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "Don't know. Seems like you're more uneasy if I don't say which one."
«Brian» "That's probably true."
«DanteE» (What happened a week ago?)
«Ftisk» (the researched anchor?)
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "Annoying, isn't it? These flashes of insight, but all attuned to this particular purpose."
«Theresa» (I don't think it was Noble related.)
«Random_Nerd» Voice: "I don't make the rules. As far as I know."
«Ftisk» (are we real world clock aligned? Fukushima?)
«Brian» "I'm not sure I can blame whoever didn't tell me. On the one hand, I've been busy. On the other, there's always praying."
«Brian» "Anyway. I think I'm done imparting information."
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "I will take this under advisement. You've come to me in good faith, and you appear to be reliable."
«Theresa» (It's 10:41pm on Thursday here in Illinois, Angelo.)
«Brian» "I try not to provide false information. False information leads to false conclusions with no fault on the part of the concluder."
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "I will not formally declare myself for you, of course. But that would probably not help you in any case."
«DanteE» (-2 hours in Reno)
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "Okay. And now the untempered one."
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "Now, in some ways, Conrad is a problematic Shard to test. But in others, he's ideal."
«Ftisk» (not what I was asking, is the amyra time alligned with ours? is the death one connected with the rl Fukushima incident, that was my question)
«Theresa» (Or were you asking if the Nobilis world is connected to our real world time, with the earthquakes and such?)
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "To test the nature of tempering in general, one unconnected to Ftisk would be better. But to see the way that Tempering makes you like the target..."
«Kite» ('tis already tomorrow afternoon here.)
«DanteE» (I suspect time goes much slower in-game. Probably still 2005.)
«Random_Nerd» Conrad: "Just look at the tempering. That was the agreement."
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "Yes, yes."

  • Ftisk nod nod

«DanteE» "Actually, wait...
«Brian» "Of course. Many do not trust you. I really don't understand it - I trust you to be exactly who you are. You have much more devious ways to get what you want than just lying. Falsehood is so inelegant."
«Ftisk» "Dad is a trustable Imperator!"
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan lifts his head from the eyepiece
«DanteE» to Ftisk: "Can you let your version of Conrad show up?"
«Ftisk» "Sure!"
«Brian» "Am I able to just leave from here, or do you need to do something first?"
=-= YOU are now known as Conrad
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "Lying is sometimes the right tool. But rarely. It's almost always a short-term strategy with long-term costs."
«DanteE» to Vulcan: "Anything different?"

  • Conrad strike a pose

«Random_Nerd» Vulcan looks back at it.
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "Do that again, while I'm looking at him."
=-= YOU are now known as Ftisk
«Brian» (I want to know what the Voice has to say to Dante and etc :p)
«Ftisk» "ok, I'm changing again"
=-= YOU are now known as Conrad
«Random_Nerd» (Patterns /frequently/ does things that compromise his long-term interests because of a sudden motivation or emotional spasm. But he doesn't exactly have much insight into himself.)
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "Where do you want this anchor of yours to be?"
«Brian» "The rest of my Familia is visiting Locus Vulcan at the moment. If you can't get us that far, I think I can drive the rest."
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "When you put on the form of this one, something changed here. "
«Conrad» "Cool!"
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "Vulcan. How well-defended is it?"
«DanteE» (Patterns could probably drop him in our conference room.)
«Conrad» (locus Volcan have borderguard I remember)
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "Hmm. Enough. I'll move this up to some place near it."
«Random_Nerd» You feel the room transferring itself to new locations, in a series of Motions.
«Random_Nerd» (Patterns' Gift can move the meeting room up-tree, but not all at once. It takes a bunch of steps to get it there.)
«Brian» (ah. I assume that the Motion is to make "this place /should/ be /here/ and it is right!" as opposed to just moving the thing)
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "This may take a certain amount of time. Locus Gamaliel is on one of the worlds closest to Hell."
«Random_Nerd» (Yeah. It makes it harder to track the room. Wherever it is, it's always been there.)
«Brian» (It's what I'd do.)
«Random_Nerd» (So divinations related to it would be tricky even without the Preservations of Secrets.)
«DanteE» (Should you have mentioned what JbJ said about Patterns?)
«Brian» (I don't know.)
«Conrad» (he he, he is paranoid is well rended here)
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "Okay, you can stand up."
«DanteE» (You know, "BTW, you'll feel better if you punch your Ymera in the face.")
«Conrad» (you Me or the excru?)
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "While I have the apparatus here, are any of you initates into the arts of summoning?"
«Random_Nerd» Conrad gets up.
«Random_Nerd» Conrad: "So, what was the point of that?"
«DanteE» "Brian is, but he's zoned out at the moment..."
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "Still working on that..."
«Conrad» "There is Brian of .. what Dante said"
«Random_Nerd» (Should we cut to the Meeting Room making it to just outside Locus Vulcan?)
«DanteE» "Then again, Brian and Shadows figured everyone has a fetch..."
«Kite» (Sure!)
«Brian» "Patterns, I know you're likely to not follow through on this, but you should ask Jan Ben Jan about yourself. My Familia has given me reason to believe that JbJ knows how you can improve yourself."
«Brian» (cutting can happen!)
«Conrad» (if we can quicken Brian check sure)
«Brian» (Brian was technically not paying attention at the time the question was asked and answered :p)
«DanteE» "Come to think of it, we may have past incarnations, as well. Can this thing help us find that out?"
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "...look. You know how I am about my safety in even indirect ways."
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "You're suggesting that I give a powerful and strange god an actual piece of my actual /body/, and probably not a small one."
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "And with no idea of why he wants it."
«Brian» "I know. I don't like it when they go about asking about you. I am willing to get you the answer, paying myself, if you wish it."
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "I have no idea why the thought of making that deal doesn't scare the hell out of you."
«DanteE» (And we know a little bit of why he wants it...)
«Theresa» (I thought Brian had paid the price for Pattern's thing's knowledge?)
«Brian» "Because I trust that you being whole is more important than me being so." (check that, because if so, I made an error in judgement!)
«Brian» (and in speaking!)
«Random_Nerd» (It was, uh, /Theresa/.)
«DanteE» (He gets enough parts he gets the answer to a Big Question)
«Theresa» (Huh. I guess I...forgot? ^^ )

  • DanteE hands off the hat and sword to Theresa

«Brian» "Because, truth is, I don't trust myself being whole and sane in the first place. Because I don't even know if I want to be."
«DanteE» "Let me see what that says about me.
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "I don't need an Old God to tell me what kind of person I ought to be."
«DanteE» "You know, 'Know thyself', after all."
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "What I am may be a sad and wretched thing, but it's /me/."
«Brian» "He deals with information, not oughts. I think. Anyway, if you don't wish it, I won't ask."

  • Theresa rolls her eyes but takes the stuff. "Fine, but no maid outfit."
  • Conrad giggle a bit
  • DanteE steps into the blender, I mean machine...

«Random_Nerd» (Incidentally, Patterns doesn't actually know that much about how deals with Jan ben Jan works. He finds out as much of what Jan's /said/ as he can, but he's never actually bargained with him.)
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan looks at Dante speculatively.
«Brian» "I don't believe that anyone else can help you, and for you to do it, you must believe you should - which is a thing no one else can give you."
«Random_Nerd» Then Vulcan sets his eye to the eyepiece, and works the settings.
«Conrad» "Plain Noble, Kudzu said I can play with him, and can screw him too"
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "Enough on this subject."
«Random_Nerd» Patterns: "I agreed to meet to share information about the threats facing Creation, not to discuss how I ought to order my life."
«Conrad» of course him= Dante
«Kite» (I feel as if Patterns is replying to both conversations...)
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "There's something here..."
«Random_Nerd» He works the machine more.

  • Conrad jump high and low "What dad? What?"

«DanteE» (You find that whistle I swallowed at age 5? :) )
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "But it's different. On my son, it was in his personal soul."
«Brian» "Of course. I apologise."
«Brian» "Shall I take my leave now?"
«Conrad» (he found that you are secretly attracted by roboSnail :-P "
«Brian» (btw, how different does it feel inhabiting a Dionyl than it does having a human body?)
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "This is on the piece of you that you have from your Ymera. It looks like /he/ was Tempered, or at least something similar to it."
«Random_Nerd» (Significantly.)
«Random_Nerd» (For one thing, after switching back to a meat body you feel itchy all over.)
«DanteE» "Tempered?
«Conrad» "!__! kudzu tempered!"
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "Or /something/»"
«DanteE» "... You know our Imperator's a Wildlord, right?"
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "No. I'm an idiot. By the way, Courage, could you help me zip up my pants?"
«Random_Nerd» He lifts his eye from the machine.
«Brian» Brian shakes himself. (RH) "Hey guys, I'm back. Where should I meet you?"

  • Theresa tries to stretch her mind around it. And also watches the Excrucians for any reactions.

«Theresa» (And poor Ftisk, his dad's making a move on his man...)
«Random_Nerd» Meanwhile, Patterns' Room drops Sam off outside the chancel, after it finally arrives.
«Conrad» (was Vulcan sarcastic?)
«Random_Nerd» (Yes.)
«DanteE» "Just making sure. It means he has a little Outside in him by default."
«Conrad» (pew I don't want to fight him over Dante)
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "This has nothing to do with that."
«Brian» Brian will go meet up with Sam. "That was interesting. Let's go meet up with the others. If they tell me where they are ..."
«DanteE» (And you're not wearing pants.)
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "This about... the shapes of souls."
«Kite» "Where did he get Blades from?"
«Random_Nerd» (You guys know that, actually.)
«DanteE» "From Azazel, I think."
«Random_Nerd» (From an angel. Azazel.)
«Conrad» "He take that Blades from an angel, Azazel, I think"
«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "That might be it. I've never made a detailed examination of a cannibal before."
«DanteE» "What, uh, 'shape' are you seeing?"

  • Conrad try to peek in Vulcan eyepiece

«Random_Nerd» Vulcan: "I don't know. The chunk of him I have here is too small for that."
«Conrad» "Ok, we need a fatter Dante!"
«DanteE» "Hm. Theresa, Brian, see if you can squeeze in here with me."
«Random_Nerd» Sam: "That was trippy."
«Brian» (Prays to T) "T, Sam and I are here outside Locus Vulcan... where do we go?"
«DanteE» (Brian, aren't you with us?)
«Random_Nerd» (He went to meet Sam.)
«Brian» (nope - I was elsewhere when inhabiting Sam. Didn't see where you guys went)
«Random_Nerd» (Cut to Brian's arriving, since we're getting close to ending time.)
«Brian» (sure)
«Conrad» (sure)
«Theresa» "Dante, you're my shard-brother, but no thank you. Plus, I generally wait to be invited before stepping into someone else's science experiment."
«DanteE» (OK, then change that to:) "Theresa, can you squeeze in here with me?"
«Random_Nerd» (Laz, to what extent is Brian initiated into summoning?)
«DanteE» "Fair enough."

  • DanteE exits the machine...

«Brian» "I had a productive chat with Patterns." (He's studied theory, and assisted in a few summonings, but hasn't yet gathered the courage to do his own summoning)
«Kite» ("Tell Brian to give the guards a secret handshake, walk down Gear Street, take a right and the tea house, take the elevator to Level XXIV....)
«Brian» (I think that's the status?)
«Random_Nerd» (Okay. So he hasn't done any of the fetch contacting/making yet?)
«Brian» (not yet.)
«Brian» (but he suspects that he has a fetch already)
«Brian» (though since causality is broken Outside, it's unclear.)
«Random_Nerd» (But even if he has a fetch, does the fetch have a Brian yet?)
«DanteE» ("Yet" is meaningless Outside.)
«Brian» (which is why, when they want to know about Fetches, Brian will go away and try to make contact, in a room that Vulcan et al approve.)
«Brian» (He feels more comfortable trying it Not Home.)
«Random_Nerd» (But 'yet' is meaningful when it comes to any effects on Brian.)
«Random_Nerd» (Since Brian's inside time.)
«Conrad» (so if the fetch think backslash he will not ruin Kudzu beauty sleep)
«Brian» (Actually, Brian will suggest doing a scan before and after contacting the Fetch.)
«Random_Nerd» (Hmm. Mind if we cut here?)
«Brian» (fine by me)
«Conrad» (No at all)
«DanteE» (OK)
«Kite» (Sounds good)
=-= YOU are now known as Ftisk
«Random_Nerd» _____________STOP__________________
=-= YOU are now known as Angelo
=-= Kite is now known as Verithe
«Angelo» Kudzu a cannibal?
=-= DanteE is now known as Knockwood
«Verithe» Kudzu as a cannibal is pretty established, ja.
«Knockwood» We know he took Blades, didn't get details as to how
=-= Brian is now known as lazarus
=-= Theresa is now known as BethE
«BethE» That does explain the 'like Tempering' comment, though.
«Angelo» take blades as a side effect from a tasty snacks :-P
«BethE» Cannibalizing someone else's estate is like the Excrucian Tempering an estate they killed.
«Random_Nerd» And although Vulcan's acting all snooty, spiritual cannibalism between imperators isn't all that uncommon.
«Random_Nerd» It's just taboo for the younger generation of True Gods, of which he is one.
«Knockwood» and I can add 'Snarked By Vulcan' to my list of accolades. :D
«Verithe» Hwhw
«Verithe» *Hehe
«Knockwood» right alongside "The Antitypist"
«Verithe» Tpyo is in top form, tonight.
«Angelo» eh, how many times Ftisk is cited in your list?
«Verithe» She almost got me to misspell her name, even.
«BethE» Just because his dad did it, doesn't mean Vulcan should turn up his nose at it...
«Random_Nerd» So, let's see.
«Knockwood» hm... maybe I should add 'Where did Blades come from?' to my Struggles
«Random_Nerd» Ftisk's project got a victory.
«Angelo» uzzza!!!
«Random_Nerd» The one about investigating his Tempering.
«Verithe» Yay!
«Random_Nerd» Let's see. Brian's conversation with Patterns counts too, I think, since doesn't he have a Find Out How To Kill Entropy project?
«Knockwood» I suspect Brian got points and I got skunked.
«lazarus» It's a Recruit People For The War project.
«lazarus» And having the Voice's support for future actions should be worth something there :p
«BethE» I had totally forgotten that Theresa had paid the year of her life. Brian paid losing his memory of a parent, right?
«Knockwood» and nice to know Voice landed on his, uh, feet.
«Random_Nerd» Well, Dante's been getting a lot of input in his projects lately.
«Random_Nerd» Oh, and by the way, the friend that the Voice mentioned? It's someone who's appeared in the game.
«lazarus» Brian was willing to pay that. For a different answer. It pretty well wasn't accepted.
«lazarus» And, huh.
«Verithe» :(
«Knockwood» ... someone in the Who's Who?
«Random_Nerd» Almost certainly.
«lazarus» I can't remember who Brian's friends were, IC, other than the PC group.
«Random_Nerd» Sorry about the haphazard switching between scenes.
«Random_Nerd» I still find that tricky to manage.
«Verithe» It's difficult.
«Verithe» We don't really make it convenient by going in different directions.
«Knockwood» And bringing along a platoon of NPCs
«Angelo» no problem, I like the scene management
«BethE» Brian can div the phone number of 'the friend of his who died this week'?
«Angelo» or we can use separate rooms for separate scenes?
«lazarus» I'm not sure a phone number actually counts as a Number.
«lazarus» it's identifying, rather than quantifying.
«Random_Nerd» Hmm...
«Random_Nerd» Yeah, I think you're right.
«Random_Nerd» Otherwise, by that reasoning, you could use a mapping between the counting numbers and some other set to find anything.
«Knockwood» (You do recall we had Brian divine the PM's top secret number in the Hello Parliament chapter? :) )
«lazarus» I can do a lot of that. "Position of [specific x]" can work. (If we did, then the concept of Numbers has changed between then and now :p)
«Random_Nerd» (I have no recollection of those events, your honor.)
«Random_Nerd» But that you can do with quantities.
«Random_Nerd» By comparing how far it is in various directions from a known thing.
«lazarus» yeah. I can tell how much is in a bank account, if I know the account number, but I can't find someone's bank account number from their name.
«Random_Nerd» Yeah.
«lazarus» makes a certain amount of sense: the power of Identifiers has infringed on the over-Estate of Numbers :p
«Random_Nerd» Then it's about time you went over there and showed him what for!
«Knockwood» you're saying a phone number isn't a number?
«Angelo» RN!
«Random_Nerd» For the purposes of the Estate, I'm not sure if it is.
«Angelo» I realized that I take a milestone in get out of the wall estate
«Random_Nerd» At the least, it's a tricky edge-case.
«Random_Nerd» Oh, cool. What do you want to do with it?
«Angelo» +5+5+3+3
«Knockwood» Angelo: Nice. What are you going to do with it?
«Verithe» Sweet!
«lazarus» (I get 3 for my Project, yes?)
«Angelo» I don't know yet. Uhm.. suggestion?
«Random_Nerd» (Yes.)
«Knockwood» What if Ftisk becomes known for his successful tempering?
«Verithe» How many nodes are expected for this project?
«Angelo» well is a multiple milestone project don't remember, 2 or 3 I believe
«lazarus» (14 points for me!)
«Knockwood» William said there were no definite Temperings on this side besides Ftisk
«Random_Nerd» Yeah, getting a new estate at /all/ would probably be at least a two-step one.
«lazarus» (1 more point and I can declare we have garnered support for the rebellion. Well, Imperial Miracle, so I can declare that we have support for it, anyway.)
«Angelo» knock is a great Idea
«Angelo» I can declare that outside is know that I want to gain an estate from outside?
«Random_Nerd» That works.
«Angelo» :-D
«Random_Nerd» That's what you want to go with?
«Angelo» yeah, is cooler that Knock version and can lead to all sort of interesting things :-)
«Random_Nerd» Yeah, that's got plenty of plot seeds in it.
«Knockwood» Any word on Etheric, BTW?
«Angelo» so I put all branchs into a sub one and put that statement in it, right?
«BethE» Well, guys, I'm beat. Good night, all! *HUGS*
«Random_Nerd» Last I heard, I was expecting him to be here tonight.
«Angelo» night Beth!
«Random_Nerd» I don't know what's up.
«Random_Nerd» So, remember, next two weeks are cancelled, because it'll be finals week for me.
«lazarus» 'night Beth!
«lazarus» good luck RN!
«Knockwood» g'night Beth
«lazarus» and that is a cool idea, Angelo!
«Verithe» Good luck!

«Knockwood» Showa?
«lazarus» g'night everyone! Gotta get back to cleaning ...
«Verithe» A dead emperor's birthday. No work! No school (unless it is declared a PTA day)!
«Knockwood» (and technically it is Prince-Gets-Married (Like-We-Care) day.)
«Verithe» Take care, laz!
|«-- lazarus has left irc2.magicstar.net (Disintegrated: lazarus)
«Knockwood» g'night laz
«Angelo» night laz
«Knockwood» So, how old is that emperor?
«Verithe» As of his death or as of today?
«Angelo» both?
«Knockwood» today. Old or recent emperor?
«Verithe» 110
«Verithe» He died in 1989
«Knockwood» oh, Hirohito?
«Angelo» I add "reca materna"
«Verithe» He was 80 when he died.
«Verithe» Ja
«Knockwood» strange they celebrate considering what he did in WW2
«Verithe» They celebrate every former Emperor's birthday, regardless of deeds.
«Knockwood» ah.
«Verithe» They use today more for solemn remembrance, though.
«Verithe» For those who bother celebrating it at all. It's mostly a day not to work.
«Knockwood» you mean like Memorial Day. :)
«Verithe» Somewhat, ja. :)
«Knockwood» Well, time to head out. Have fun, Verithe.
«Angelo» night Kwd
«Verithe» Take care, KW
«Knockwood» Angelo, have fun with your shiny new milestone. :)
«Verithe» You too, Angelo! Bye!
