«Lazarus» I've just started actually reading the Song of Ice and Fire. I've noticed a few things. The first is how much they changed to make the tv show practical, and the second is that the novels show me why someone would want a song of ice and fire rpg.

«Etheric» I'm not all that familiar with the TV show. What's an example of something they changed?
«Etheric» Well, aside from Daenarys's hair color.
«Lazarus» the age of the Stark children.
«Etheric» Ah, really?

«Etheric» I guess Bran and Arya are older then.
«Lazarus» only a couple of years in the intro scenes, but it means they don't have to have a different set of actors for those.
«Lazarus» and the timeline doesn't need to be changed much, I think.
«Etheric» Oh, I see. So they start as adolescents. That makes sense, in a series that will last for several years in-character.
«Lazarus» they also had a scene before the execution intro emphasising ... Arya(?)'s ability with weapons.
«BethE» Low low end of teens.
«Lazarus» (affinity, rather than ability, I suppose)
«Etheric» Yes, it's presented a bit later in the books.
«Random_Nerd» Was it so much ability, or that, for a kid her age, she was kinda bloodthirsty?
«Etheric» Well, the desire to train, I would think, is what set her apart at that point.
«Etheric» That, and having a half-brother who'll train her in secret of course.
«Lazarus» There's scenes reordered or inserted or whatever, but that's to be expected. I'm fairly sure GRRM had a hand in some of it, at least.
«Etheric» Her training in earnest starts later on when she meets Sirio, I would say. And that scene, I saw on Youtube, so I know it's almost verbatim from the book.
«Angelo» GRRM was present each day as counselor to the director
«Random_Nerd» Oddly, the show version of Sirio really reminded me of my old fencing teacher.
«Angelo» AND wrote one of the episodes for each season
«Etheric» Ah, really? So not just checking the scripts, but he was actually present for the filming?
«Etheric» That's pretty good.

«DanteE» "Maybe if you put them somewhere more ... interesting that you don't mind them mapping.

«Theresa» (True, could be that they were finding weaknesses to present to you as a going away present to fix.)
«Random_Nerd» Elias: "The notes are for /you/. Do you think we need /paper/ for this kind of thing?"
«DanteE» "Then again, if you're going to do that, maybe you could give us a map of wherever you're from. Seems only fair."

«Random_Nerd» Conrad: "So do we. But the difference is, our natures are appropriate to what we do here. They have to be, because we're flying blind on this side."
«Random_Nerd» Conrad: "What a warmain does, when he gets here, is whatever feels appropriate. And it ends up being the right thing, because that's the kind of guy he is."

«Theresa» "We don't know why he summoned a Summer Glau head. He was drunk at the time."

«DanteE» (Wasn't Jeeves helping Shadows with some perceptual block thing?)

«Random_Nerd» You have HQB's support to help you if you have a good candidate for a Fallen supporter of the peace talk.
«DanteE» For one thing, it speeds up pizza deliveries like you wouldn't believe.
