Chapter 34

=-= User mode for Angelo is now +ix

-->| YOU (Angelo) have joined #Nobilis

<Angelo> hi all!

<lazarus> hey Angelo

<BethE> Hi Angelo! *HUG* So sorry again about the CoH thing.  :(

-->| Knockwood (~chatzilla@4F0B9266.4D3BC4C7.3820EA4D.IP) has joined #Nobilis

<Knockwood> Hi guys

<BethE> Hiya Knock

<Angelo> hey Knock

<lazarus> hey Kwd

<Angelo> can someone sign that petition? http://www.change.org/petitions/ncsoft-keep-ncsoft-from-shutting-down-city-of-heroes#

<Verithe> My wife already hit me up for that one, Angelo.

<Angelo> your wife play CoH?

<Verithe> Yes.

<BethE> Signed, Angelo.

<Verithe> I want to, but I've been working on other things, lately.

<Angelo> cool! Say "we will endure" to her

<Verithe> Alright. :)

<lazarus> and ... WTF, why would they kill City of Heroes?!

<Angelo> also pass that url: http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php/board,134.0.html

<Random_Nerd> Eh, CoH is niche, and NCSoft are... well, they're not EA, but they don't have a reputation as the /nicest/ company.

<Angelo> NCSoft a day out of the blue, WITHOUT REASON laid off all paragon studio (80 peoples)

<Angelo> the day before p.studio talked of the upcoming expansion the next one dev write on the forum that they were laid off

<Angelo> and to date no one gave an explanation, a reason on that action

<Angelo> is crazy! In a bad way

<Random_Nerd> You 're not wrong.

<Verithe> Paragon Studios still had a bunch of things in the works and were hiring new people and everything.

<lazarus> I'm still saddened that the CoH Unisystem game never actually came out

<Knockwood> isn't that what that guy was giving away on the VGO thread?

<Angelo> there were a paper game in work? That would have been really cool!

<lazarus> yeah - Eden Studios was going to do it. I don't know how far they ever got, but I do know the Quick Start Rules got released

<BethE> Ehh, Eden Studios. Still annoyed at them for not finishing the Intro to the Hellmouth book.

<lazarus> AND Beyond Human ...

<Angelo> wow! I'm in CoH from this nov and never heard of that

<lazarus> and I didn't like the background on Armageddon, and I'm not quite sure why they pulled the license from Misfit Studios ... but at least they're publishing ConX stuff again :D

<lazarus> I'm unlikely to end up with a Magic Box copy am I?

<Random_Nerd> Didn't DTRPG or someone put out a Magic Box pdf?

<lazarus> (given that I haven't bought one, and ... well, it is as rare as it is ...)

<lazarus> it was on DTRPG, but I thought they've pulled the Buffy & Angel ones, given the lack of license now. *checks*

<Random_Nerd> Ah.

<Knockwood> afk a minute

<Random_Nerd> Which reminds me, have any of you gotten the Deceivers minibook?

<Verithe> I've already got all the material, so I'm in no hurry.

<Verithe> But I plan to get it.

<Random_Nerd> Oh, yeah, wasn't your Little Serpent in it?

<lazarus> I didn't get it yet.

<Angelo> I plan to get it before year's end or first trimester 2013 end

<Random_Nerd> Did you have any other art in there?

<Verithe> Among other things.

<Verithe> Yes

<Verithe> The color flower pictures are mine.

<Random_Nerd> I forget, was there any connection between that art piece and Jerren the Littlest Serpent, or just a coincidence of tiny dragonsnakes?

<Verithe> If they're still there after the re-editing for the e-Pub and such.

<Knockwood> back

<Random_Nerd> Well, the epub has a lot less art.

<Verithe> Officially, there's no connection. Unofficially, I totally intended him to be Jerren.

<Random_Nerd> Fair enough!

<Random_Nerd> So... should we get to Nobilising?

<Verithe> Yeah

<Angelo> sure

<Knockwood> oh is that what we're doing

<BethE> (Going through my deviant art favorites and saw this again. http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/209/f/4/friends_of_reality_by_butifuldeath-d41x0st.jpg ^^ )

<Random_Nerd> What's a good email address for you?

<lazarus> xxx@yyy.zzz is my primary address.

<Verithe> Hehe

<Random_Nerd> Okay. So, my plan is, after a brief break, I'll do a bit of Amyra stuff tonight. The week after this is Amyra also. The week after /that/ is the start of the Glass playtest, which gives us time to read through our characters and familiarize ourselves with them.

<Random_Nerd> It seems to have turned out that way, V.

<Verithe> Works for me!

<lazarus> are we planning to do any more "standard" Chuubo at some point as well, or is that put to bed for now?

<Angelo> woohoo

<Random_Nerd> Oh, and anyone who, two weeks from now, has not read their character sheet, will be imprisoned in durance vile beneath the earth.

<Random_Nerd> Put to bed for now.

<Random_Nerd> But may be returned to later.

<lazarus> ok!

=-= lazarus is now known as Brian

=-= Knockwood is now known as DanteE

=-= BethE is now known as Theresa

=-= YOU are now known as Ftisk

<Random_Nerd> Okay, give me... five minutes, shall we say, and we shall Amyra-tize.

=-= Verithe is now known as Kite

<DanteE> Let's see, we'd just dealt with that demon, right?

<Random_Nerd> Yeah.

  • Kite blows dust off his memories.

<Random_Nerd> Now, is there anything that you wished to do in the next... say, three days?

<Brian> (Tenra Kickstarter link: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/diamondsutra/tenra-bansho-zero-an-art-and-culture-rich-rpg-from)

<DanteE> Check out the other stuff in the vault

<Theresa> I'm going to hang out in the Grove and try to regrow my shredded wheats.

<Brian> we teleported a box and forgot a demon

<Brian> and then killed the demon?

<Random_Nerd> Technically, it isn't dead.

<Random_Nerd> Just... stuck in a place from which no paths lead back to Amyra or Earth.

<Brian> oh yeah.

<Brian> I remember now.

<Random_Nerd> Didn't /you/ do that?

<Random_Nerd> Man, it's been a while.

<DanteE> And badly hurt yourself in the process?

<Brian> I did! But it was a while ago. My mind doesn't remember well :p

<Brian> How long do those things take to heal?

<Kite> Within the next three days, Kite will be practicing turning into a Dionyl.

<Ftisk> me too. I try to remember but get a 404 page not found in memory archive error!

<Random_Nerd> Okay. Take a Trivial Victory toward that project.

<Random_Nerd> Shall we start with the next significant other-initiated event?

<DanteE> Hang on, we should decide what Projects we're going to do...

<Brian> Brian will be resting for the next few days. And then something will be happening, it seems.

<Random_Nerd> Good point. What will you guys want to work on?

<DanteE> and actually, it occurred to me that an event in Chuubo could help us in Amyra.

<Ftisk> Ftisk will try as hard as possible to make itself more Conrad-like possible

<DanteE> Which may actually help us!

<DanteE> Specifically:

<Ftisk> like gaining all Conrad power and knowledge’s and bonds and afflictions

<DanteE> The fact that the war-whal rider recognized Leo when he himself doesn't know he's a Mimic...

<DanteE> means: outsiders can recognize one another.

<DanteE> We've been looking for a way to spot Mimics.\

<Kite> I feel that, perhaps, this is beyond meta-knowledge.

<Random_Nerd> Do not assume that Chuubo is canon for this game, or vice versa. I reserve the right to have them distinct, connected, or neither.

<Random_Nerd> Or, for that matter, distinct but with callbacks, like having a warmain on a whale at some point.

<DanteE> Well, it may be a potential avenue of inquiry.

<Random_Nerd> Yeah, that could be a Project. But be aware, "come up with a reliable way to spot Mimics" is the sort of thing that, in-setting, gives headaches to Imperators.

<Random_Nerd> So, while it's probably doable, it's also HARD.

<Random_Nerd> So, multi-step.

<Theresa> Well, Ftisk could check is Conrad can tell people who are Excru. but a)he'd have to cooperate and b) would he be able to tell with folks he doesn't know. I had thought Leo was kinda known at the Academy.

<Random_Nerd> For that matter, to test it, you'd need at least one Imperator who you know /is/ a Mimic, and at least one you know is /not/.

<Ftisk> is worth at try Theresa

<DanteE> I've got a tiny little branch with that. :)

<Brian> well, perhaps since we know that Wildlords are from Outside, that could be sufficient

<Kite> Kite says that the Imperator of Foxes is a Mimic.

<DanteE> Alternatively, Shadows could summon something that could spot mimics

<DanteE> or, now that he's got a sightdrinker, maybe he could spot 'em

<Random_Nerd> Or at least, that says it can!

<Theresa> Ehhh, I wouldn't want to get a false-ping on a Wildlord. that way lies...oh.

<DanteE> would it really be a false ping?

<Random_Nerd> Depends on how you define your terms!

<Ftisk> an unsure ping?

<Brian> if you /do/ get a ping from a Wildlord, that would be a good thing, if you /don't/ that doesn't tell you anything. At least, that's my thinking

<Random_Nerd> After all, there's the issue that, at least in this game, "Excrucian" is as much of a political category as it is a metaphysical one.

<DanteE> BTW, is Kudzu's Corrupt Cult still around, or did they disappear?

<Kite> Shhhh!

<Random_Nerd> A few are around, but they were significantly diminished.

<Ftisk> brb

<DanteE> But hey, don't let my ideas dominate the discussion if you've got ideas/

<Random_Nerd> And, to make it clear, you guys can do this. But be aware that there are reasons why it's hard.

<Brian> Nobilis, like Dogs in the Vineyard, assumes that the players /can/ achieve whatever they want, if they're willing to pay for it

<Random_Nerd> (Oh, and don't assume that the reason the Warmain recognized Leo as a Mimic is that he could somehow see it. It may just be that the Headmaster had told him!)

<Theresa> True, it'd be like developing a blood test..that shows if you're a republican or democrat (in the US.)

<Random_Nerd> So, are we ready?

<DanteE> (How did the Headmaster know he was there?)

<Theresa> Ready.

<DanteE> Did we decide what to do?

<Kite> I believe so.

<Brian> I think RN wants to inflict flavour text on us :p Which is fine by me

<Brian> I'm ready

<Random_Nerd> (Well, the Headmaster definitely knows who Leo is.)

<Random_Nerd> (And what he is.)

<Theresa> It was probably more along the lines of *describes arrogant kid that came to the Academy* Yeah, I messed with him and made him a Mimic. Sent him back out for the lulz.

<Random_Nerd> (It wouldn't be crazy for the officer-Warmains attacking Celestia to have gotten a "here's some faces to watch for" memo.)

<Random_Nerd> Any objections to starting with you guys in the Clocktower?

<Brian> none here

<Kite> Nope

<DanteE> OK

<Ftisk> work. Ah clock tower have peoples I can test my powers on?

<Random_Nerd> Assorted staff, Puck, etc.

<Ftisk> Puck!

<Theresa> No objection but I want a couple of tubs of dirt, fertilizer and a sun lamp.

<Random_Nerd> ____________START_____________

  • Kite is in the process of building a sculpture of himself out of stolen jewelry

<Brian> *is counting on an abacus.*

<Random_Nerd> Across the intercom in the Noble Office Level, Sam's voice comes across. "Boss? Other bosses? There's an issue down here that I think requires at least one of you."

  • DanteE checks out Who's Who in Nobility

<Brian> "where's 'here'? ... wait a sec" *finds out where "here" is*

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Down on the ground floor. There was a delivery here, and... I think you should see it, because I don't want to overreact."

  • Ftisk stop projecting Ftiskness on Puck to listen

<Brian> "I'll be down in a minute" *goes downstairs*

<DanteE> thinks 'Overreact?'

  • Theresa looks up from her tanning bed of dirt and sunlamp.

<Kite> "Do you think it would be overreacting if we all go?"

  • DanteE goes down as well

  • Ftisk jump from the nearer windows and then float down

  • Theresa will go too.

<Random_Nerd> (The problem with projecting Ftiskness on Puck is... how can you /tell/?)

<Kite> "..."

<Ftisk> (if Puck grow a shell and start floating I know it work :-P )

  • Kite tinkers with his sculpture some more before deciding he's lonely and follows the others.

<Random_Nerd> At the front desk, there's a delivery guy with two packages. Both are gift-wrapped. One is about the size of... say, a really big coffin, or a really small car. The other is the size of a large box of matches.

<Random_Nerd> The delivery guy is smiling, and his hands have blood dripping from them. They are currently dripping into a plastic bucket.

<Theresa> "If it's another demon, I am going back home."

<Random_Nerd> Sam is looking nervous.

<DanteE> (Who signed us up for the demon-of-the-month club?)

<Brian> (Entropy. Who else?)

<Random_Nerd> Delivery Guy With Bloody Hands: "Ah! There you are! This is for you."

<Ftisk> "Are these packages for someone specifically? Or Just Amyra's Nobles?"

<Brian> "From whom?"

<DanteE> "... someone's slumming. What's up?"

<Theresa> "Aaand someone who knows the Wild Code is trying to give us presents. Lovely."

<Random_Nerd> DGWBH: "Not just Amyra. For the... shall we say, the planning committee behind the Warmain Summit."

<Ftisk> (delivery guys with bloody hands?)

  • DanteE checks out the little package

<Random_Nerd> It's wrapped in red metallic wrapping paper, with a bow.

<DanteE> "Ah, yes."

<Random_Nerd> It's resting on top of the larger package, which is also similarly wrapped.

<DanteE> tags?

<Random_Nerd> Nope./

<Random_Nerd> Delivery Guy: "So, who wants to sign for these?"

  • Theresa sighs. "Is it customary to tip the delivery person or is it less like pizza and more like UPS?"

<Ftisk> "Are you Lord Entropy related? Like lost children or like?"

  • DanteE signs...

<Random_Nerd> DG: "Oh, I'm Lord Entropy. Probably. But I guess under these circumstances I'd pretty much have to be, to be delivering this."

<Random_Nerd> He taps the big box with his foot.

  • Kite is hiding in the stairwell.

  • Ftisk sniff him a bit

<DanteE> "OK, then, what is it?"

<Random_Nerd> DG: "I will want it back, by the way, after the summit is done. But I thought you might need it."

<Random_Nerd> DG: "Baalhermon."

<Theresa> (...the rock?) (..........)

  • DanteE grabs the little box...

<Brian> "I'm going over there so I don't hear anything."

<Brian> *leaves*

<Theresa> "Uhh...didn't Imperator Jerren currently have said person working with him?"

<Ftisk> "that is a conflict then, isn't one?"

<Random_Nerd> DG: "His situation is currently smooth, so I'm transferring him to you for the duration of the issue."

<Random_Nerd> (The latter him was Baalhermon.)

<Random_Nerd> DG: "There's some advice that comes with it, too. About the planned meeting"

<DanteE> "... is this one of those things where we should leave the box closed until things get bad, or should we go ahead and open it?

<Theresa> "Are there...any feeding schedules..darn it, this is a Noble, not a puppy!"

<DanteE> (and is Baal pops up and starts stripping...)

<Random_Nerd> DG: "Don't open the box unless you want the clown to pop out."

<Random_Nerd> DG: "I'm... not sure if he's literally dressed as a clown right now. You'd have to ask Jerren."

<Kite> (Unless Baalhermon is, in fact, a puppy)

<Brian> (that would be hilarious)

<Ftisk> "So is like a scarry box, we wave it before our enemies to scare them"

<Random_Nerd> DG: "This is an insurance policy."

<Theresa> (Well, a big part of puppies is destruction.)

<Brian> (! speaking of all this, apparently my cousin's daughter is named Ananda.)

<DanteE> "So, the little box is the user manual, or what?"

<Random_Nerd> DG: "If things go badly, with multiple full Warmains in the room... you'll have Baalhermon."

<Ftisk> (coolest cousin daughter name ever heard!)

<Random_Nerd> DG: "Control mechanism. Basically, a temporary tattoo. One of you will have to accept it to be able to control him."

<Theresa> (...your cousin's daughter is the lady of the next Age, the Imperator of Murder and the Infinite? Lucky you, you get to buy her presents.)

[ERROR] The command ``Me! is not known to the server.

<Ftisk> "Me! pretty please me!!!"

<Random_Nerd> DG: "It will wash out when I no longer want you to have him."

<Theresa> "Ftisk, it might have trouble with your...other self."

  • Ftisk show the shell expectantly

<DanteE> (Anyone else thinking Ftisk + Baal = Bad Idea?)

<Random_Nerd> DG: "Work that out among yourselves. Multiples, if you want, but if so be sure not to give conflicting orders, as then he can do whatever he wants."

<Ftisk> "Nah, will make for interesting times!" *grin*

  • Ftisk jump up and down

<Theresa> (Well, yes, I think that about Ftisk, but when has any of us objecting stopped Ftisk?  :) )

<Random_Nerd> DG: "Also, the advice. Will you accept some honest and well-intended advice?"

<DanteE> "You _have_ that?"

  • Ftisk nod nod

<DanteE> "... and yes."

<Theresa> (He _can_ speak honestly. What better way to make your enemies freak out.)

<Random_Nerd> DG: "Okay. Now, I know that you've had a lot of dealings with Warmains, and some of them have been friendly."

<Random_Nerd> DG: "I have a question. Do you think of Warmains as, basically, okay guys?"

<Ftisk> "Warmain aren't bad guy. They have _bad_ PR!"

<DanteE> "Well, aside from the whole being the Other Side's generals..."

<DanteE> "so to speak."

<Brian> (I'll point out, for the future corrupting everything ever, Brian's out of the room Intentionally Not Listening :p)

<Random_Nerd> DG: "They are not. Any time you see a Warmain in Creation, you see a person who is completely willing to kill you, and anyone and everyone you know, in the service of a cause he neither understands nor even /remembers/."

<Theresa> (Isn't that kinda like ogres?)

<Random_Nerd> DG: "Yes, they have a 'code' that they follow. They're very polite. But you know what? I'm not impressed. If you're a serial killer, you don't get to get off with a warning because you're always very polite and well-dressed and never say a cruel word."

<DanteE> (Not really. An ogre would fold you in half, but if you survived to tell people about it he'd be OK with it.)

<Random_Nerd> DG: "Yes, I would willingly kill any or all of you if I thought it would help protect Creation. But that is a cause that I know of, and have chosen to support."

<Random_Nerd> DG: "But a Warmain, over here, neither knows or cares why he does what he does."

<Random_Nerd> DG: "It is not even a case of the ends justifying the means, because they do not know the ends."

<Random_Nerd> DG: "A Warmain, set loose in Creation, just does what comes naturally to him, what he feels like doing. And it just happens that this nearly always involves killing a great many people."

<Ftisk> "But Warmains have deeply built in what they have to do to improve their place. I mean the have not even pizza as estate!"

<Random_Nerd> DG: "There. That's the advice. Don't make the mistake of thinking they're good people, just because they're polite."

<Theresa> (Wait, Warmains have the Code: "Be polite. Be professional. Have a plan to kill everyone you meet." ?)

<Ftisk> "And I can tell you I'll be really P***ed off without pizza estate!"

<DanteE> "... so noted."

<Ftisk> "Me being Conrad in the last statement"

<Theresa> (Chancel Vulcan has pizza?)

  • DanteE pops open the little box...

<Theresa> (Oh, wait, it was probably under Vesuvius.)

<Random_Nerd> Inside is a small bottle of what looks like black ink, a brush, and a sketch of Baalhermon's flower.

<Ftisk> (lot of hot peperoni salami pizza!)

<Random_Nerd> DG: "Is there anything else?"

<Kite> (Vulcan has pizza, but is in a different Volcano)

<DanteE> to the big box: "You need anything in there?"

<Ftisk> "Can I try a power on you .. I'm learning ..."

<Random_Nerd> DG: "Oh, and in terms of the gift thing, as far as I can tell, you're set. To make up for this gift, you would need to offer military support in a cause of mine. You have already done so, as Nobles in the War."

<Brian> (Thank you Mario, but the pizza is in another volcano?)

<Random_Nerd> DG: "You /can/. And then you can find out what happens when you do."

<Ftisk> "Super! Be ready!!!" *grin*

<DanteE> "Ftisk? Don't."

<Theresa> (...Entropy's a GM. Great.)

<Random_Nerd> DG: "Oh, you do owe me for the advice, I suppose. Do any of you have any honest and well-intended advice for me?"

  • Theresa gives a bow to Entropy. "Thank you for respecting our Lord's Code, Sir."

<Kite> (this volcano, right Angelo? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulcano )

  • Ftisk project Ftiskness on DG :-)

  • Theresa thinks. "Beware rocks."

<Random_Nerd> The ftiskness goes somewhere else, and you lose track of it.

<Ftisk> (yep Kite, is the right Volcano)

<Random_Nerd> The feeling is roughly as if you went to punch someone's face, but instead of impacting your fist passed right through their head, and then you pulled back a stump in place of a hand.

<Random_Nerd> DG: "Rocks. Why rocks, in particular?"

<Ftisk> "Cool! How you did it???"

  • Kite peeks out from hiding when Dante warns Ftisk.

<Theresa> "They aren't in your best interest for a long legacy."

<DanteE> (Hm. Tempted to ask him to kill that law against love, but that would open up some ...)

  • Ftisk project Ftiskness on Theresa .. to try if the power work or DG erased it

<Random_Nerd> DG: "Fair enough. Anything else?"

  • Theresa thinks some more. "No, I can't think of anything else that would be helpful. I'm more used to giving advice to young humans."

<Random_Nerd> DG: "And the rest of you, anything?"

<Ftisk> (my gift is gone? No effect on Theresa?)

<Ftisk> "Nope, ah, you are way way cool!"

  • Kite shakes his head.

<DanteE> "It might help if those folks who are fighting for you are doing it because they love Creation.

<DanteE> "or part of it.

<DanteE> "... just saying."

<Theresa> (Not sure. Do I feel anything or do I feel Ftisk stumpness or what?)

<Random_Nerd> (When you project it at Theresa, it feels like it only kinda-sorta works. Like trying to swing a baseball bat with a numb arm.)

<DanteE> (BTW, how many tattoos can the bottle make?)

<Random_Nerd> (There's enough there for hundreds.)

<Ftisk> (ok, RN, good)

<Random_Nerd> DG: "If they do what they ought, in the War, I care not why they do it. My law rules on acts, not on thoughts."

<Ftisk> "So I can have thought of doing naughty thing around without breaking that rule?" *me have naughty thought on Entropy*

<Random_Nerd> (Oh, and Ftisk, you're down one Tough Health Level for the duration of this storyline.)

<Random_Nerd> (And have one Failure toward your project.)

<Ftisk> (ok)

<Random_Nerd> DG: "You can. To love is forbidden, but only those who /act/ in love are punished."

<Random_Nerd> DG: "You may think traitorous thoughts, if your actions are beyond reproach."

<Random_Nerd> DG: "I believe, then, that it is time for me to go."

<DanteE> "Ftisk, I'm not sure what we can offer him if we ask him not to destroy you."

<Random_Nerd> He pulls a pair of leather gloves from his pockets, and puts them on.

  • Ftisk wave a white handkerchief

<Ftisk> "Why he would want to destroy me?"

<Random_Nerd> He walks away.

  • DanteE shows Ftisk a Look.

<Random_Nerd> Oh, and on the bottle of ink, there are a pair of words engraved in English.

<Random_Nerd> "Enough Rope."

<Theresa> (...)

<DanteE> "... subtle."

  • Theresa calls. "Sam, thank you for letting us know about this. Brian, you can come back out now."

<Brian> *comes back out*

<Brian> "I'm not even going to ask what he said."

<DanteE> "OK, let's figure this out...

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "So... Baalhermon. In the same room as me."

<Brian> "That part is disturbing. Anything else, I don't even want to know."

<Kite> "We could just dump it in an ocean. Which ocean is the deepest?"

<DanteE> "As to who gets tats from Hell. Ftisk is out.

<Theresa> "He's a Noble. There isn't a universe deep enough."

<Ftisk> "What?"

<Brian> "There is if I say there is."

<Kite> "I agree with Dante."

<DanteE> "Brian is out because of the whole Lawbreaker thing and wanting to kill Entropy."

<Theresa> "Brian, you're going to have to listen to some of this and deal with this or you might as well not go to the meeting, because you won't know what's going on."

<DanteE> "and being almost dead..."

<Random_Nerd> (A random thought. Entropy, in how he uses his Nobles... is very like an Angel.)

<Ftisk> "But But I can handle it! Don't treat me like a child, I'm near 4 year old!"

<Kite> "I agree with Dante."

<DanteE> "Leaving me, Theresa and Kite."

<Kite> "...."

<Brian> "Of the three of you, Dante is most honest, but I trust Theresa with the power more."

<DanteE> "Unless you want to add mortals to the list."

<Ftisk> "So Kite yes and me not?" *sigh & sob*

<Kite> "I don't think we should do this thing."

<Kite> "At least, not yet."

<Theresa> "I don't think we should add mortals. Baal. might burn through them."

<DanteE> "Ayep. Unless you want to volunteer, Sam..."

<Brian> "Actually, honestly, apart from not being Noble, William is the most well ordered of the lot of us"

<Kite> "I considered testing it on a breath mint for less than half a second."

<Ftisk> "And Gnomely is not mortal? Beside he wouldn't be cool with a tatoo?"

<Theresa> "I agree with Kite. Wait until closer to the meeting."

<Theresa> "And I think we should talk to Imperator Jerren and see how it was working with Baal. And whether being leashed by Nobles is going to be a problem."

<DanteE> Did the big box answer me when I asked if it needs anything?

<Ftisk> "But Jerren is on another scale that us, handling with these tatoos would be really under his radar .. maybe"

<Random_Nerd> It made no response in any way.

<DanteE> "Sam? What do the Aides know about Baalhermon?"

<Theresa> (Stay the F* Away?)

<Kite> "The nice delivery man implied Lord Jerren no longer has any control."

<Theresa> (No one has ever survived to report?)

<Theresa> "It may be like having keys to a car. When you have the keys, you can direct where and how the car goes."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "It's not even worth running, if he's trying to kill you. If Baalhermon is present, and you are still alive, lie down on the ground, be very quiet, and if applicable attempt to get right with whatever god or philosophy you follow."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "He has never been observed directly at a time when he was /not/ killing people and breaking things."

<Theresa> "Congrats, Sam. You have new data for the database, assuming that he _is_ in this box. Don't open the box, Ftisk."

<DanteE> "I'm a little bit against keeping a living thing in a sealed box..."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "He doesn't really communicate, and if he has goals of his own, we have no idea what they are."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "He just kills or destroys for Entropy or whoever else he's been lent to."

<Ftisk> "Nah, this present is not for me, is impolite to open it"

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Or, sometimes, he shows up and does so for no purpose we can discern."

<Brian> "So, Destruction in a box?"

<DanteE> "Ah-hah."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "I'm not going to say that he /can't/ be defeated in combat, because only a Sith speaks in absolutes. But there are no reliable accounts of situations in which he has been."

  • Ftisk nod nod

<DanteE> "And I'm holding the keys."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Is there, like, a manual in there or something? A FAQ?"

<Random_Nerd> (There is not.)

<Theresa> "More like you're holding the detonator. And yes, I know I just used the car analogy. I'm thinking nuclear bomb now."

<DanteE> "Just his flower and Enough Rope."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Let me think... he's not been lent to anyone with an Aide, that we are aware of."

<Brian> "Thermal Detonators to keep with Sam's analogies"

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "It's usually to Imperators, and they don't tend to employ us."

<Theresa> "Which is why we ask his previous coworker..."

  • Ftisk land on Theresa shoulder

<Kite> "Handler."

<DanteE> "Theresa, how are your tattoo-drawing skills?"

<Ftisk> "ordinary?"

<Ftisk> "But I can make an auto tatuatormaker!"

<Kite> "I watched 'Dollhouse' yesterday. I know this."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "I can't /believe/ they cancelled that. Although... was it just me, or did it get better after they had the cancellation date ahead? Less filler?"

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Sorry. Tangent."

<DanteE> (Doesn't this game predate Dollhouse and Ep. 3 by a few years?)

<Kite> "I don't know, Sam. I only watched all of it yesterday."

<Brian> (Time is all wibbly wobbly)

<Random_Nerd> (This isn't baseline Earth. Maybe he made it a few years earlier!)

<Theresa> "I would say that I can do a fairly good job at it." (Aspect 3.)

<Theresa> "Plus, flower."

<Kite> (We're in Amyra. We can say it was leaked to Earth from here?)

  • DanteE hands the flower and ink to Theresa.

  • DanteE rolls up a sleeve.

=-= YOU are now known as Conrad

<DanteE> "I'm thinking right here, where I can hide it if needed."

<Kite> "Why are we doing this now?"

<Brian> "Because we can?"

<Brian> "Otherwise, I'm not entirely sure"

<DanteE> "Because I don't like the idea of a nuke without a trigger."

<Kite> "But we can wait. Why aren't we doing that?"

  • Conrad walks straight after Dante waiting his turn and rolls up a sleeve too

<DanteE> "Or, rather, without a way to _prevent_ it from going boom."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "That's a good idea. Just in case someone opens the box, maybe at least one of you should be able to tell him to get back in it."

<Theresa> "Right now? Dante, please tell me you're not going to summon him here in the Chancel right now? At least warn the Boss first, because if he just pops up on the Boss's radar, bad stuff with happen."

<DanteE> "_No_, Conrad. We don't know how it'll react to an outsider."

<DanteE> to Theresa: "I'm not."

=-= YOU are now known as Ftisk

<Ftisk> to Dante: "Fun buster!"

<Theresa> "Should I then tattoo myself as well, in case we get split up?"

<Kite> "Thank everything that may be watching over us!"

<DanteE> "Yes. Or I can draw it on you."

<DanteE> "Kite, you in?"

<Kite> "I don't want that ink touching me. Lord Entropy already gooped me with potential corruption."

<Ftisk> "I can take that ink" ;-)

<DanteE> "Technically he 'gooped' all of us."

<Kite> "No, Ftisk."

<Ftisk> "Came on is a waste of perfect good ink..."

<Theresa> "Ftisk, I think that this might hurt Conrad if we tattooed you."

<Ftisk> "You _think_ not know for sure"

<Ftisk> "And a test is in order to know for sure"

<Kite> "Mights do not rein in the curiosity of the Ftisk."

  • Theresa motions for Dante to sit down and starts tattooing. (Is it just drawing on the skin with the ink? And where on the arm? Describe the flower?)

<Kite> "Ftisk, don't."

<Brian> (after midnight. Time for bed. g'night!)

<Random_Nerd> (It's just drawing on the skin with ink.)

  • Theresa looks Ftisk in the eyes. "Ftisk, are you that willing to hurt Conrad, yourself, if you're wrong?"

<Kite> (Take care, Laz!)

<DanteE> to Sam: "We have a Ftisk-proof lockbox somewhere, right?"

<DanteE> (g'night Laz)

|<-- Brian has left irc2.magicstar.net (Disintegrated: Brian)

<Kite> (is the ink shimmery when wet, as ink is wont to be?)

<Ftisk> "bla blah blah, I know I know ... err ... " try to break eye contact " .. er no, I'm not big T ... but ... can I have a lest a a hug?"

<Random_Nerd> (It looks like... ink. A dark blue-black ink.)

<Ftisk> (belate: night Brian!)

<DanteE> (no all-consuming darkness?)

<Random_Nerd> (It's... darker than ballpoint ink. But you've seen darker.)

<Theresa> "I will give you a hug once I'm done tattooing Dante. And I don't want you to be hurt, Ftisk, that's why I'm worried. And Conrad is part of you and thus needs to be protected as well."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Just for the record, we're confident that Entropy didn't just send you Baalhermon in a box but not actually give you a functional means of control, yes?"

  • Ftisk look at Theresa with eyes that say *yep mummy*

<DanteE> "Not his style, I think."

<Theresa> "Occam's Razor, I guess. We'll have to wait and see, which is part of the reason I want the Boss notified before we open the box."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Yeah, I thought so too... but I just thought I should ask."

  • Theresa smiles brightly at Ftisk.

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Bruce Springsteen? Oh, wait, Ymera Kudzu."

  • Ftisk feel a bit better

<DanteE> "Do we need to actually open the box first?"

<Ftisk> "lord Entropy told us to open the prize only if we need it"

<Kite> "Bruce Springsteen?"

<Ftisk> "But I volunteer to open it first if you like!"

<Theresa> "Bruce Springsteen is an American singer who is known as 'the Boss'. I refer to Lord Kudzu as Boss...mostly as a way of not being knee-knocking afraid of him."

<Kite> "Is this Bruce Springsteen really so frightening?"

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Huh. I wonder what Bruce /would/ say if you asked him what to do. I mean, he always seemed like a pretty together dude."

<DanteE> Any weird sensations as Theresa draws the flower?

<Theresa> "No, the term boss is also used for those above you in the hierarchy in a job. It is also a title for a leader of mafia in bad American mobster films."

<DanteE> ... that sounds dirty...

<Theresa> (You're the one who thought it, Knock.  :) )

<Random_Nerd> Nope. The ink is slightly cold on your skin, but not unnaturally so.

<DanteE> (So no voice from on high saying FREE ME MORTAL? Good to know. :) )

<Random_Nerd> (Nope.)

<Random_Nerd> Theresa completes the ink-drawing on your arm.

<DanteE> to T: "You're OK with getting your own tattoo, right?"

<Theresa> "Yes, if only to have a backup system. But we can't give conflicting orders or he can do whatever he wants." *looks seriously at Dante* "So watch out."

<DanteE> "I read the label. Where do you want the tattoo?"

<Random_Nerd> (Tramp stamp! Baalhermon tramp stamp!)

<Kite> (Back of neck! Back of neck!)

<Theresa> (*LOOKS at RN*)

<Ftisk> (shoulder)

<DanteE> (He's making a RL suggestion. :p )

<Theresa> (I am not getting a Noble of Destruction tramp stamp. And that can go on the quote page/Nobilis Open thread.)

<Random_Nerd> (But in RL, it would just be right over her tattoo of the head of David Hasselhoff.)

<Theresa> (....)

<DanteE> (How drunk was she?)

  • Theresa bares her shoulder. "Upper left shoulder, please."

<Theresa> (I have no tattoos, thank you very much.  :P Besides, he's said before that the tattoo he'd expect out of me first would be some form of dragon.)

  • DanteE carefully copies the flower pic to her shoulder.

<DanteE> (Now I'm wondering if that should be an Aspect miracle...)

<DanteE> "Now, where can we put the Box O'Doom, and how will we get it to the meeting site when that happens?

<Kite> (Needn't be too high of an Aspect miracle, if you were to use one.)

<DanteE> "Hm... I suspect if we put it in the tower and wind up using it we won't have a tower."

<Random_Nerd> (Yeah, it's entirely doable for anyone with even a bit of Aspect. Aspect 0 would probably do it, really.)

<Ftisk> "Basement"

<DanteE> (I'm A3, no problem.)

<Random_Nerd> (Heh. Funny thing is, Aspect 0 would be a totally kickass power in almost any RPG.)

<Theresa> "But we can't have it just sit out. Let's put it in the Conference room. Or the basement could work. We have a basement, I think."

<Random_Nerd> (Next to Horse!)

<Kite> "The Vault?"

<Random_Nerd> (That can't /possibly/ end badly!)

<Ftisk> (I approve!)

<DanteE> "You mean the abandoned mine?"

<Ftisk> "The one with demons and boxes? Yay! Is a better place!"

<Kite> "It's a Vault now, Dante. You saw it. You were there."

<DanteE> (Maybe we could let him out so he can be our special pet NPC. :p )

<Random_Nerd> (I am seriously half expecting you guys to do that.)

<DanteE> (Just give him a kitten to eat periodically.)

<Kite> (Nooooo!)

<Random_Nerd> (Heh. I think this series of story arcs count as the Demonbox Memorial Reunion Tour.)

<Ftisk> (we have a vanity pet (imp) and a combat one (Bal))

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Who do you get to look after it?"

<DanteE> "I think it can look after itself."

  • Ftisk nod nod

<Kite> "I can get my sculpture to look after it."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "That's what I'm afraid of."

<Random_Nerd> (That was to Dante.)

<Theresa> "Sam, have you ever been told that those who ask questions about who will do something, they have to do it?"

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Not it! Uh... Jinx! Shotgun! I forget, which human version of 'called it' applies here?"

<Kite> "I think you had it the first time, Sam."

<DanteE> "Maybe we can keep it on the roof..."

<Ftisk> "like a gargoyle!"

<DanteE> "There, that at least matches the picture."

<Ftisk> "look at our BalGoyle! Cover in fear!" *giggle!*

<DanteE> "And remember--and remind me--this is 'enough rope'."

<Random_Nerd> (So, shall we call it a night?)

<Kite> "Enough rope to hang yourself with?"

<Kite> (Sure)

<DanteE> "So I assume."

<DanteE> (Sure.)

<Random_Nerd> _____________STOP______________

<Ftisk> (sure)

=-= YOU are now known as Angelo

<Angelo> was too much over the top with Ftisk?

<Theresa> Neat!

=-= DanteE is now known as Knockwood

<Random_Nerd> So... thoughts? Is Entropy more fun as an enemy or an ally?

=-= Kite is now known as Verithe

=-= Theresa is now known as BethE

<Knockwood> Were we over the top razzing Ftisk? :p

<BethE> I don't think so, Angelo.  :)

<Knockwood> Define 'fun'

<Angelo> cool!

<Random_Nerd> Interesting?

<Angelo> Was a fuuuuuun session!

<Verithe> I know where he stands as an enemy.

<Angelo> and Entropy as ally is scarier that Ent as enemy

<BethE> I agree with that part, Angelo.

<Verithe> It's definitely interesting!

<Angelo> (btw bravo to RN for that )

<Random_Nerd> Oh, and what did you guys think of the "advice"?

<Knockwood> Good to have a reminder

<Verithe> Yeah

<BethE> What did Entropy think of Theresa's advice?

<Knockwood> Did he give a damn about my advice?

<Random_Nerd> No comment, to both of those.

<Random_Nerd> Except that he did have reactions to both.

<Knockwood> I guess Laughter counts as a reaction...

<BethE> I wasn't going to come right out and say 'JBJ says you're weak against rocks.'.

<Random_Nerd> Maybe that gave him the impetus to... evolve.

<Knockwood> Nice going, Theresa! :p

<Knockwood> Did anybody get Destiny this time around?

<Random_Nerd> Ftisk did.

<Knockwood> You could argue about a failure on my "Avoid getting corrupted by Entropy"

<Random_Nerd> Along with a Wound, but hey.

<Random_Nerd> Hmm...

<Angelo> well I get a health level loss too

<Random_Nerd> That remains to be seen.

<Angelo> Hmmm ?

<Random_Nerd> That was to Knock.

<Verithe> (My wife's Noble is watching... http://i.imgur.com/lPzgw.gif )

<Random_Nerd> I think this will be either a Success or Failure depending on what you do with the box.

<Knockwood> that GIF needs music... say, the Jaws theme

<Random_Nerd> Dramatic Prarie Dog!

<Random_Nerd> (Which I think was Beth's reaction when I said it was Baalhermon in the box.)

<BethE> (RN thinks it's funny when I'm typing and then he types something like the tramp stamp thing or the Ball in a box thing and I just _stop typing_.)

<Angelo> (but did Entropy know our reaction to boxes? )

<Random_Nerd> Maybe he didn't, and that's why he trusted you with this one.

<Random_Nerd> Maybe it's actually full of those snake-in-a-can things!

<Knockwood> Did you mean us to keep it closed or open it and say high to Baal?

<BethE> Maybe it's a box within a box.

<Knockwood> *Hi

<Angelo> Ftisk will argue to open it, of course

<Verithe> We can make it a box within a box...

<Random_Nerd> Maybe he kidnapped Lesson and put him in there!

<Random_Nerd> And as for what I mean you to do with the box? I have /zero/ plans for what you will do.

<Random_Nerd> Like the bottle says, this is enough rope.

<Random_Nerd> What you do with it is up to you.

<Angelo> seem to apply: http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=0sq8VDXlWQk

<Knockwood> so, next week is Amyra again, and then we launch into Glass?

<Random_Nerd> Yep.

<Angelo> ok, time to wake my kids and ready them to school here.

<Knockwood> Have fun, Angelo

<Angelo> cya in a week :-9

<Angelo> :-)

<BethE> Bye, Angelo! *HUG*

<Verithe> Take care, Angelo!

<BethE> I'm going to bed too. Night, guys!  :)

<Random_Nerd> See you next week, guys.
