Chancel_Amyra
Chapter 37

=-= User mode for Angelo is now +ix

-->| YOU (Angelo) have joined #Nobilis

<Angelo> Hi guys!

<Knockwood> Hiya Angelo

<lazarus> um. Dec 26 I'm almost certainly unavailable, and Jan 2, I don't know. Probably working really late.

<Knockwood> laz: you know they're on YouTube, right?

<lazarus> I've got a project that looks like I need to do 12-13 hour days for the next few weeks. Not that I haven't been already, but.

<lazarus> kwd: yeah, yeah, but.

<lazarus> this way I can turn it on and let it go ^_^

<BethE> Hi Angelo!

<lazarus> hey Angelo :)

<Angelo> lol, Hi again Beth, laz

<Random_Nerd> So! The game is cancelled for December 26 and January 2.

<Angelo> okie dokie

<Verithe> Okay!

<Knockwood> fair enough

<BethE> I'll make sure to email Etheric.

<Random_Nerd> So, we're only short Etheric.

<Random_Nerd> Give me a moment to check some things, and we can get started.

=-= BethE is now known as Theresa

=-= lazarus is now known as Brian

<Angelo> I need a summary of where we are... can't remember nothing :-(

<Brian> same.

=-= YOU are now known as Ftisk

=-= Knockwood is now known as DanteE

<Random_Nerd> You guys have been working out the details of the diplomatic mission with the Excrucians.

<Theresa> We talked to HQB for a little bit.

<Random_Nerd> You've picked the list of Imperators, pending asking one particular Fallen after Luc warms him up.

<Brian> oh yeah. He was a little ... offput by T

<DanteE> then we figured we should find out what happened on Breach Day.

<Random_Nerd> You've agreed that the failsafe points outside rather than inside.

<Random_Nerd> You talked some with HQB about his memories of Outside or the lack thereof.

=-= Verithe is now known as Kite

<Random_Nerd> You've reviewed what Sam and William told you a long time back in real time.

<Brian> T wanted HQB to come up with a lie.

<Random_Nerd> Now, the most difficult feat of all. You must... do karaoke in public while sober! Err, I mean, you must decide what you're actually going to /say/ to the Excrucians when you talk with them!

<Theresa> No, I wanted him to give us some little true tidbit to give the Excrucians as a show of good faith.  :P

<Brian> truth, falsehood, it's all in the eye of the beholder.

<Theresa> Oh and we found out/remembered that the attack on Chancel Jaris was personal.

<DanteE> well, we can't tell them the _truth_

<Kite> Kite wants to find a way to safely share Estates with Outside, so maybe we can research that?

<Kite> Then we can tell the Excrucians what we discover.

<Theresa> I have no idea of what I want to say at the meeting.

<Ftisk> Ftisk too is ok to share but want one estate from outside most.

<DanteE> If we find out what happened on Breach Day we'll at least have some context

<Theresa> Where else can we go for info on Breach Day? I thought we had hit everyone we could think of.

<Brian> except for the Excrucians.

<DanteE> Jaris?

<DanteE> We haven't really talked to her

<DanteE> or looked over the site

<DanteE> Do our Aides have other reports of incursions on that day?

<Kite> We got that report last time.

<DanteE> oh yeah

<DanteE> wait, did we get it or were we waiting on it?

<Kite> Though I don't remember who replaced Physics, if that was mentioned.

<Theresa> Not sure what Jaris would have since we found out that it was a personal vendetta. Unless the Breach Day could bring forth something like that.

<Random_Nerd> Space replaced Physics.

<Kite> Okay!

<Random_Nerd> I think an earlier version of this was supposed to use Physics, but then I used Physics II more in the game and the timeline got changed.

<Theresa> We heard about pre-Physics, who was before the Physics who was ticked off by Brian, who was replaced by the build her own TARDIS Physics.

<Random_Nerd> But it can't have been pre-Physics, because that doesn't work in light of what you know.

<Theresa> So it's Space instead. Ah, lady Space.

<Random_Nerd> So it's Space, and just act as though it's been foreshadowed that that, like Physics, is a revolving-door estate.

<DanteE> How long was Physics-at-the-party Physics when we had the party?

<DanteE> (That wasn't awkward at all!)

<Random_Nerd> (And it's "Space" in the sense of volume and distance and so on, rather than in the sense of Where Stars And Planets And Stuff Are.)

<DanteE> wait, who's Space?

<Random_Nerd> Physics-at-the-party was pretty new.

<Random_Nerd> You have not met the current Space.

<Random_Nerd> The Space that died was two Spaces ago.

<Theresa> Do you still support double Spacing?

<Random_Nerd> (And, again, sorry I didn't realize that the timeline didn't work sooner, in time to build in more references to Space.)

<Random_Nerd> Ready to start?

<DanteE> I may be a space cadet, but I'm still not sure who you mean

<Kite> Double Spacing between sentences or lines of text?

<Random_Nerd> Hmm?

<Random_Nerd> Who I mean with what?

<DanteE> He's on second.

<Theresa> (Two Spaces, Double Spacing...)

<Theresa> "Marie, Power of Physics, attacked and killed by the Warmain Dacius. The Angel Gamaliel attacked by an unknown Warmain Tempered with the form of the previous Power of Patterns."

<DanteE> So, something happened with Space-not-Physics on Breach Day?

<Random_Nerd> Correct.

<Theresa> She was killed by the Warmain Dacius.

<Random_Nerd> The Power of Space, who was two Powers Of Space ago, was killed by... yeah.

<DanteE> OK... now how long has the Patterns we know been Patterns?

<Theresa> And Patterns' Imperator got smacked around by a Warmain with the appearance of Patterns' predecesor...

<Random_Nerd> Patterns has been Patterns for a while.

<Random_Nerd> But there's a Warmain out there who's using the face of previous-Patterns.

<Theresa> Huh. And Jaris was attacked by an Excrucian with a personal grudge.

<Kite> Huh

<Theresa> We need info on Warmain Dacius.

<Random_Nerd> And there's the Shard you talked to, who was trying to arrange financial stuff for the widow of the guy who he tempered.

<Theresa> And any connection he might have had with Space or someone related to her.

<DanteE> and whether they were ever able to ID the guy who attacked Gamaliel

<Random_Nerd> Shall we start on that?

<Kite> Should we also talk to the Imperator of Space to see if there was a prior grudge to the Noble at the time?

<Kite> Yes.

<Random_Nerd> They were able to ID that guy as "Whichever Warmain killed the previous Patterns."

<DanteE> Well, do we have that report, and if so what's in it?

<Random_Nerd> But they don't have a name for it.

<Theresa> (He was IDed as 'a Warmain wearing This Dude's face.)

<Random_Nerd> (Yeah, that.)

<Theresa> (The stuff I quoted was the report. It was carved into the table.)

<DanteE> Jaris' attacker was also a Warmain?

<Random_Nerd> Correct.

<DanteE> Seems to be a trend. :p

<Brian> (sorry, had to run AFK for a bit. But I'm back now!)

<Random_Nerd> Well, if Strategists or Decivers were doing crazy shit, maybe they were just too subtle and nobody noticed!

<Theresa> And Caesar was a Warmain, right?

<Random_Nerd> (Except they weren't.)

<Random_Nerd> Suebi was a Warmain.

<Random_Nerd> Caesar may or may not be Suebi.

<Ftisk> Caesar choosed to not be Suebi

<DanteE> (And actually, there's one more thing we can check... the Windy Library)

<Random_Nerd> And Caesar, when he arrived, looked like the Domination Sakaroth, who Suebi had killed.

<Theresa> I've got a theory, but I'll wait till we're IC.

<Random_Nerd> Shall we go IC to the Library?

<Brian> (it could be bunnies?)

<Brian> and sure!

<Ftisk> sure

<Theresa> (Nah, Monty's not involved this time.)

<Theresa> Sure!

<DanteE> sure

<Brian> (that would by _bunny_, singular)

<Random_Nerd> ___________START________

<Kite> Yes! To the Librarymobile!

<Random_Nerd> (...shall we have that have been in-character/)

<Kite> (Vroom!)

<Random_Nerd> (I mean... it is Kite...)

<Kite> (Yes)

<Random_Nerd> Vroom!

<Random_Nerd> Library!

<DanteE> "Been a while since we came here..."

<Brian> "I almost forgot it existed"

<Ftisk> "Me too"

<Random_Nerd> Sam and William glance at each other.

<Theresa> "So what do we check first?"

  • Ftisk run around feeling the currents in the library

<Random_Nerd> They /definitely/ didn't deliberately lead you to forget about it, so as to be more important.

<Random_Nerd> Definitely.

<Kite> "You have all of the knowledge of your Imperator available to you whenever you want it and you neglect it? I don't understand you guys."

<DanteE> "Well, let's see if the architecture's changed..."

<Random_Nerd> It isn't all the knowledge of Kudzu, by the way.

<Brian> "It's a very weird library."

<Random_Nerd> It's just stuff that was common knowledge in Noble society at the time that the Amyra PCs were ennobled.

<DanteE> "I seem to recall part of it changed on that day..."

<Theresa> "It's just what he thinks we would need to know about."

<Random_Nerd> Meant to cover for their inexperience in a way that required less effort on Kudzu's part.

<Ftisk> "That day was the day the lib got secrets passages?"

<Ftisk> "There was an orc camp also?"

  • Ftisk scratches his head

<Random_Nerd> William: "The orcs live about a mile and a half to the west. And they mostly prefer 'ogre.'"

<DanteE> "We whomped the orc camp a long time ago. Remember, we got all those gold pieces and that weird dagger?"

<Kite> "What?

<Brian> "I actually don't"

<Theresa> "So, Library, what connections are known about Marie who was once Lady of Space and the Warmain Dacius."

<DanteE> "It's a paladin thing, you wouldn't understand. Now where's the new section?"

<Random_Nerd> Marie, the Domina of Space, and Warmain Dacius are tenative allies, having collaborated in the death of the Power of Things That Are Jagged.

  • Ftisk do a satellite check for orcs 1 or 2 miles to the west

<Random_Nerd> There appears to be a small village there.

<Random_Nerd> A lot of cattle and sheep.

<Theresa> "Huh."

<Random_Nerd> Because this is the Amyra game, and we have regular product placement by the Beef Council.

<DanteE> "Who was the previous Patterns?"

<Ftisk> (no green skinned guys?)

<Theresa> (Red: "Cows. It's what for dinner.")

<Theresa> (And the Library hasn't updated since Kudzu created it?)

<Random_Nerd> The previous Patterns was the one who died before the current one.

<Random_Nerd> (Not to any significant degree, it seems!)

<Theresa> "We forgot to hook this up to an updater."

<DanteE> "Can't argue with that, I guess. What happened to him?"

<Ftisk> (damn!)

<Brian> "Ftisk, can you update this here libr'y?"

<Theresa> "Marie and Dacius worked together in the Power of Things That Are Jagged."

<Random_Nerd> (Bear in mind, Patterns is an angelic estate. Powers of Patterns tend to get a specific sort of mission.)

<Ftisk> "I can try!!!!"

<Theresa> "Library, why did Space and the Warmain want the death of Things That Are Jagged?"

<Random_Nerd> Bear in mind, the Library doesn't actually hear your questions. Instead, it's saying these things, all the time, and you're able to listen for the one that's relevant.

  • Kite is learning where the shiniest things are

  • DanteE listens for Dacius and Jagged

<Random_Nerd> The previous Power of Things That Are Jagged was a violator of Entropy's Law, having made unjustified attempts upon the life of the Power of Space.

<Random_Nerd> "Dacius" is the Creation Usename of a full Warmain. His name is known through his collaboration with Marie of Space. He currently wears the form of the Power of Jagged Things.

<Theresa> "Interesting."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Do you mind it if I, ah, go out from here?"

<Theresa> "Oh, no, Sam, it's okay. Don't want you to get sick."

<Ftisk> "So if one violate Entropy's Law can be fully attacked by a warmain? Interesting!"

<DanteE> "Hm... two Warmains who've tempered Powers... and Jaris being subject to a personal vendetta."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "it's not... it doesn't matter. I'll be outside."

  • DanteE listens for Jaris

<Random_Nerd> He moves out.

<Brian> (anchor-thought-speak) "What's up, Sam?"

<Random_Nerd> Jaris is the Serpentine Ymera of Seasons, Migrations, and Rivers.

<Random_Nerd> She is loosely allied with the Dark.

<Theresa> (Okay, I think I have my theory.)

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "It's the patterns of meaningful vibrations in there. It's disorienting when they're happening inside your body."

<Theresa> (Yeah, putting your hand in a sonicator feels weird. ... Not that I've ever done that. *shifty look* )

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "I don't know how Ymera Kudzu made that place, but it's... it's very similar to a very large Dionyl that's nearly mindless but has a very good memory."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "It's a similar pattern of vortices and things."

<Brian> (ats) "that is ... interesting. I guess I've never thought about Dionyl anatomy." (I'll do so -what does the library have on Dionyl physiology?)

  • DanteE checks out the new rooms...

<Random_Nerd> ("Dionyl are a humanlike species created by the Angels. They mainly live on the world Dionyl. They are not directly visible to human eyes, being sentient patterns of movement and vibration."

<Random_Nerd> Everything pretty much looks the same. It's like being inside a cross between a cave and a complicated brass instrument.

<Random_Nerd> (Say that the Library bears the same relation to a Dionyl that a giant parrot would to a human.)

<Brian> (Brian will file away this information, but not share with the others.)

  • Ftisk poke some holes in a wall ... does the message in the zone change?

<Random_Nerd> It does. Some information-streams become quieter.

<Random_Nerd> Others trail off early.

<Theresa> "Library, does Imperator Jaris have any experiences or conflicts with an Warmain Excrucians?"

<Random_Nerd> Not /much/ info is lost, but it does have an affect.

<Ftisk> "uhmmmm"

<DanteE> "Fix those, Ftisk."

<Brian> "Don't hurt it! Just ... give it more memories."

<Theresa> (Sorry, was treating the Library like my own personal Siri...)

  • Ftisk close the holes

<Random_Nerd> Ymera Jaris has been attacked by Warmains on various occasions.

<Ftisk> (can I do a LC to add data to the lib?)

<Random_Nerd> (You could.)

<Random_Nerd> But there's nothing there about Jaris having a /particular/ feud with a /specific/ Warmain.

<Random_Nerd> Just, standard "I am a Warmain, you are an Imperator, it is stabby time now."

<Random_Nerd> Nothing personal.

  • Ftisk LC of all the slash fiction on us that Amyra's internet contain + all the info we know

<Brian> (... -_-)

<Random_Nerd> It's mostly about Brian.

<DanteE> (urk)

<Random_Nerd> The slash-fic, that is.

<Random_Nerd> There's... kind of a /lot/ of it.

<Ftisk> (no Dante/Ftisk from old days?)

<Theresa> (Of course. He is Amyra's #1 Dude.)

<Kite> (I'm curious who Brian is slashed with.)

<Brian> (Everyone)

<Random_Nerd> If there's any Dante-Ftisk slash fic, it's stuff that Ftisk wrote himself.

<Random_Nerd> So... it's probably there.

<Kite> (An all-Amyra orgy?)

<Random_Nerd> Everyone.

<Random_Nerd> EVERYONE.

<Theresa> (I'm not. Probably everyone, Original Characters, or Theresa given the number of female Nobles we have.)

<Ftisk> (seconded! Ftisk definitely write some!)

<Random_Nerd> Theresa. Dante. Elvis Presley. Elvis Costello. Abbot and Costello.

<Random_Nerd> EVERYONE.

<Theresa> (I love you, dear.)

<Brian> (The Brian / Luc ones are scary.)

<Random_Nerd> Yes.

<DanteE> "Ftisk? Would you PLEASE remove the slashfic?"

<DanteE> (How would muggles know about Luc?)

<Ftisk> "Nooope? Is funnier that way!" *pout*

<Brian> (Luc's Noble dies in at least half of them.)

<Theresa> "William, do we have any info at hand about the Warmain we have living on Monty's moon?"

<DanteE> "That's right, he came in that day too, didn't he."

<Random_Nerd> William: "He's been quiet. He seems to mostly just focus on building his strange one-celled organisms, as far as we can tell."

<DanteE> "What's his name again?"

<Random_Nerd> William: "I don't believe he is currently using one."

<Theresa> "Do we have any information about anyone he's Tempered?"

<Kite> "Let's call him Amoeba Man."

<Random_Nerd> William: "Bear in mind, Excrucian names... aren't their real names. We now believe they don't even know what their real names are. They just steal some random word to refer to themselves from the world they're attacking."

  • Ftisk do a little dance "Amoeba man, Amoeba man you're not a rip of of supaider man!"

<Theresa> (There's a thought. Who names Wildlords?)

<Kite> "Spider Man?"

<Kite> "Is he like Batman?"

<Brian> "Kind of."

<Brian> "Listen."

<Random_Nerd> William: "...somewhat?"

<DanteE> "Hm. One possibility..."

<Ftisk> "Supaider ... did you know the jap version with the big robot Leopaldon"

<Random_Nerd> William: "Ask me when we have a slow point, I'm pretty sure I had my collection sent over when I moved here."

<Brian> (I ... wouldn't have thought that from William)

  • DanteE listens for any word on cross-wall communication

<Random_Nerd> Nothing there.

  • Kite shakes his head.

<Random_Nerd> William: "Hmm... let me get back to you on that, Theresa."

<Theresa> (Maybe Sam got him the collection.)

<Random_Nerd> William: "It's trickier, but if he's using a face of someone we know..."

<Random_Nerd> William: "Let me send a copy of his picture to the Aides, and see if it rings any bells."

<DanteE> (Theresa, what's your theory?)

<Random_Nerd> William puts his finger to the ear-sphere.

<Theresa> "And is Jaris known for having any disputes or problems with other Nobles or Imperators who have been killed by Warmains?"

<Brian> (do we get XP for stating a theory and then testing it exuberantly?  ;) )

<Ftisk> (wrong Jenna's game, sorry :-P )

<Theresa> "So, the Warmain who killed and tempered a Dionyl comes back there to start over again after he comes back through the Wall. A Warmain who tempered a Noble who kept trying to kill Space finally kills her. A Warmain who tempered a Patterns tries to...do something to Patterns' Imperator. But Jaris doesn't have a history with one. And we don't know about...*sigh* Amoeba Man."

<DanteE> (that's Chuubo. :) )

<Theresa> "But my theory is..."

<DanteE> "Jaris' attack was personal...

<DanteE> "There would have to be a history"

<Theresa> "That something about Breach Day cause Warmains to either identify stronger or even _become_ those whom they Tempered. They take the unfinished business of those they tempered."

<Theresa> "Hence my question about Jaris disputes with other Nobles or Imperators. Someone that a Warmain could have killed."

<DanteE> "...it also caused Wildlords to reconnect with their Outside selves."

<Random_Nerd> William: "Well, I can answer that one. The Lightlord Kether. Imperator of Pentagonal Resonance, Skorts, and some genre of fiction about alternate-universe Imperial Rome that doesn't exist any more."

  • Ftisk nod nod "as the one fixed for the tempered wife affair did"

<Brian> "What, what, and what?"

<Kite> "Oooh, skorts!"

<DanteE> "Skorts exist... they're rare, but they exist."

<Theresa> (Skorts are annoying.)

<Random_Nerd> William: "I have never had it explained to me in a way that makes sense, some kind of large herd animal like a dodo bird the size of a sheep, and what I understand used to be a really popular kind of fiction."

<Ftisk> "What is a skort?"

<Theresa> (Ah, a herd animal is not a cross between a skirt and shorts.)

<DanteE> "That's a skort?

<Random_Nerd> William: "Well, obviously not any more."

<Random_Nerd> William: "Warmain got 'em. I understand they were delicious."

<DanteE> "Oh..."

<Theresa> "What was his deal with Jaris?"

<Kite> "That....was not what I imagined a skort to be....

<Random_Nerd> William: "They had some old feud. I don't know what it was over, but it had been going for centuries. But there's no evidence that Jaris was involved in causing his death."

<Brian> (I love the Yakkity Sax sequences in MLP ^_^)

<DanteE> "So, if the Warmain that attacked Jaris looked like Kether we have the start of a theory."

<DanteE> "Do you have a picture?"

<Random_Nerd> William: "Not with me. But probably in one of my history books, back at the Tower."

  • DanteE listens to the library for Kether

<Ftisk> (Motion are level 4?)

<Random_Nerd> A Magister of Light, deceased approximately fifty years ago.

<Theresa> "Okay, so Warmain side of theory: Warmains gained more memories/feelings/being their last Tempered. Creation side: Wildlords remembered more who they last used to be."

<Random_Nerd> (Motions are level 6. Summonings are level 4. What do you want to do?)

<Ftisk> (get the book via Data)

<Theresa> (I can move his book. Things of Amyra. 2.)

<Random_Nerd> (Summoning suffices for that.)

<Random_Nerd> (Plants wouldn't let you know which book.)

<Random_Nerd> (Data would.)

  • Ftisk summon Will book *poof!*

<Random_Nerd> Poof!

<Ftisk> "here look, book!"

<Theresa> (I don't even know if William has any plants in his office. Sam has a cutting from his guise plant growing in his at least.)

<Random_Nerd> It's Volume III of a history of the Valde Bellum.

<DanteE> (What, the books aren't paper?)

<Random_Nerd> And Ftisk, from the Data miracle that brought it, you know that it's on Page 372.

<Brian> (Paper ceased to be plants, right?)

<Ftisk> "page 372 Will"

<Random_Nerd> We've previously counted dead plant matter as "plants."

<Theresa> (No, Ftisk grabbed the book first.  :) )

<Ftisk> (cool, ty RN)

<Random_Nerd> William opens the book and pages through.

<Random_Nerd> William: "Yeah, that's the right one."

<Theresa> (Plus William would have to tell me _which_ book.)

<Random_Nerd> It doesn't look exactly like the Warmain you saw.

<Random_Nerd> But...

<Random_Nerd> Well, okay, the picture in question was drawn by an artist, it isn't a photo.

<Random_Nerd> It's a picture of Kether of the Light, with a large sword, fighting a Warmain with a lance.

<Random_Nerd> He's armored, though, and his face isn't showing.

<Random_Nerd> But the armor he's wearing looked similar to the Warmain you saw.

<Random_Nerd> (Also, it's pretty rare for Imperators to deliberately fight Warmains that are in Creation. They aren't much good at it, actually, they're much better in the Spirit World.)

<DanteE> "Any other Warmains wear this armor?"

<Random_Nerd> William: "It's not an uncommon style. A lot of Warmains have knightly affectations."

<DanteE> "Wait... they defeated him, right?"

<Random_Nerd> William: "But still, a distinct minority."

<Random_Nerd> William: "Which they, which him?"

<DanteE> "Jaris and Orion defeated the Warmain, right?"

=-= YOU are now known as armoredConrad

<armoredConrad> "did that armor make my ass look fat?"

<Random_Nerd> William: "On the day you're researching? Yes, they drove him off."

<Brian> "Yep."

<DanteE> "Where did he go?"

<armoredConrad> "argh!"

<Random_Nerd> William: "Unknown."

<Brian> "You need a tailor."

<Random_Nerd> William: "He probably left for the Outside, as there were no other attacks by a full Warmain matching his description in the following days."

<DanteE> "You mean an armorer."

=-= YOU are now known as Ftisk

  • Ftisk fly on T. shouder .. sad! oh so sad!

<DanteE> "OK... assuming this is the Warmain who Tempered Kether, that's three for three.

<DanteE> "And Ftisk is the only one on this side who's Tempered anyone from over there...

<DanteE> "...right?"

<Brian> "Far as we know?"

<Ftisk> "Indeed far as we know"

<Kite> "What I am learning from this is never team up with a Warmain when attacking someone, since the Warmain will temper them and turn on you due to the tempering."

<DanteE> "Something 'opened the doors' between here and the Outside."

<Brian> "Isn't that well known, Kite?"

<Theresa> "It seems like the Tempered all had previous grudges."

<Random_Nerd> William: "Well, they were Nobles and Imperators."

<Random_Nerd> William: "Comes with the territory."

<Ftisk> brb

<DanteE> "Hold on... what if these attacks happened when the doors were closed?"

<Kite> "Not well known enough."

<Theresa> (I don't think I have a grudge yet. Except Patterns' Imperator should die.  :) )

<DanteE> "They came in when the doors were open, then forgot why when the doors closed."

<Theresa> "Is this something that the Excrucians that are coming to the meeting wouldn't know?"

<Brian> (I think I have one...)

<Theresa> (Everyone wants to kill Entropy.)

<DanteE> "When that happened they went back to their Warmain ways."

<DanteE> (Beth, check to see if RN's laughing at me... :p )

<Theresa> "Caesar didn't go back outside. Amoeba Man didn't. The guy who wanted to take care of his ex..kind of...wife didn't."

<Brian> ( I think RN is constantly laughing at us. )

<Theresa> (Why would he be laughing at you?)

<DanteE> (In case I went off on a completely wild tangent)

<DanteE> "Right, they didn’t go out. Just _in._"

<DanteE> "Something let Warmains and Wildlord memories _in_."

<Theresa> (Nah, he doesn't laugh at that.)

  • Random_Nerd steeples his fingers and tries to angle his glasses for the Gendo Ikari Stare.

<DanteE> "We need to find out where and how they entered."

<Brian> (Gendo = EVA? If that's the case, then that's the equivalent of laughing.)

<Random_Nerd> (Yes.)

<Theresa> "Easiest place would be breaches from that day."

<Random_Nerd> (Oh, by the way... http://wiki.rpg.net/index.php/Session_133)

<Kite> "Let's do things!"

<Ftisk> (back, wow you are chatty!)

<Theresa> (<Random_Nerd> William: "Yes. The interesting thing is that several of the Warmain shards were observed to be acting more like their assumed form than they normally would. Even in the cases of known Warmain shards that have been fought or talked with before." And maybe William: "Well, this is harder to be certain about, because the Mimics always act under a veil of secrecy. But you know how I mentioned that Breakthroughs were greater? There's anothers...)

<Theresa> (<Random_Nerd> William: "There are no reliable reports of any mimic activity on that day, either independent or in support of the Warmain attacks.")

<DanteE> "Any of you talked to 'Amoeba Man' since he set up shop on the moon?"

<Theresa> "Sounds like William has, but I haven't."

<Theresa> (So, how would finding out where and how the memory stuff is coming in help us out?)

<Random_Nerd> William: "Indirectly. We bargain for resources, occasionally. And... I don't know if you know this, but the moon he's on? Is actually in the atmosphere. High-end airplanes can go there."

<DanteE> (where can tell us how which could help us with why)

<Theresa> "...our airplanes? Outside-Chancel airplanes?"

<Random_Nerd> William: "Ours. That moon doesn't exist outside the Chancel."

<Random_Nerd> William: "Which may be why it's so low, so it fits."

<DanteE> "Do people go there besides you?"

<Random_Nerd> William: "Of course. I'm not a pilot. But, just the official Amyran military."

<Theresa> "...and their scientists? Or R&D?"

<DanteE> "Do they talk to him?"

<Random_Nerd> William: "I understand actually pulling off the landing is really tricky, because the way gravity is set up for that moon is definitely not normal."

<Random_Nerd> William: "They leave him alone unless they're making a delivery, or accepting a payment in purpose-built antibiotics. That's part of the bargain."

<DanteE> "Hm... Theresa, how fine is the resolution on your Outside-spotting ability?"

<DanteE> "I want to check and make sure he's not being an extremely subtle bastard."

<Theresa> "Here's what I'm thinking. First, imagine that like attracts like. Second, that Creation is positively charged and Outside is negatively charged. Third, whatever causes the breaches, memories, personalities, feelings, whatever, got caught up in it. And moved across the Wall. The parts of Wildlords still Outside were pulled across to rejoin memories. The Tempered feelings and so forths were pulled across too, by the abundance of ..."

<Random_Nerd> (Beth is typing something long, by the way.)

<Theresa> "...abundance of that body/spirit/whatever that was over here in the Warmains. And with the Mimics, maybe they were quiet because what was part of them was dragged across to the Outside?"

<Theresa> (And I lost that ability when we switched editions.)

<DanteE> "Makes sense...

<Theresa> "So Breach Day may have been a..balancing of pressure, in a sense."

<Ftisk> "Seem like you hit the right theory T.!"

<Theresa> "Or a really bad Maxwell's Demon."

<Random_Nerd> William: "Hmm. So, is this a natural phenomenon, or did someone do it on purpose?"

<DanteE> "And then, when whatever caused that _stopped_, they reverted to being Warmains in Creation, and attacked."

<DanteE> "With no planning, which is why things like the attack on Jaris happened."

<Theresa> "No, the attack on Jaris was while the Breach was open."

<Random_Nerd> (That's correct. The attack on Jaris happened before Caesar arrived.)

<Theresa> "The attack wasn't the Warmain Excrucian attacking Jaris, it was Lightlord Kenneth in a Warmain body smacking around his rival."

<DanteE> responding to William: "We'd need to see what happened to figure that out."

<Random_Nerd> (So whatever was different, was still different.)

<Theresa> (Yes, I got his name wrong.)

<DanteE> "Oh... "

<Theresa> "It could be a form of spiritual osmosis. A balance that needs to be found before the 4th Age starts or something."

<Kite> "Huh."

<DanteE> "Wait, the actual breach would probably be when you and I got those weird 'memories' in the castle."

<Kite> "What role would the other Excrucians play in this?"

<Brian> (Worldbreaker's Hand is ... not Warmains, is it?)

<Theresa> "Yeah, but since we don't have any big-deal fetches on the other side, what we gained wasn't all that much. And once you have the balance, you don't need more added, even if the window's still open."

<Random_Nerd> (Strategists.)

<Random_Nerd> (I mean, a Warmain /could/ have it, but they wouldn't get it for free.)

<DanteE> "Uhoh. Strategists would remember why they're here."

<Theresa> "Possibly none at all. They may be freaking out that their best warriors are possibly being spiritually pulled into Creation and becoming warriors for Creation."

<Brian> (alright. Was going to wonder about things the things would have but ... )

<Brian> "Ftisk, when you're Conrad, can you still Ftisk things?"

<DanteE> "OK... we need to figure out what caused the opening."

<Random_Nerd> (That was a tricky sentence, Brian!)

<Ftisk> (Yeah, I don't understand it)

<Ftisk> "What Brian?"

<Brian> "Does Conrad have Ftisk abilities?"

<Brian> "Or are the powers segregated?"

<DanteE> (!) "That 'freaking out' may be what brought them to the negotiating table!"

<Ftisk> "As far as I remember yes"

<Ftisk> (But I remember only from the tempering on)

<Random_Nerd> (Remember, Ftisk is /always/ tempered with Conrad.)

<Theresa> "It would be three factions against one, if they decided that the Warmains couldn't be trusted anymore."

<Random_Nerd> (He's a shapeshifter, so he doesn't always /look/ like him.)

<Random_Nerd> (But the tempering is an always-on thing.)

<DanteE> (Amoeba guy... do we know he's a Warmain?)

<Ftisk> (nod nod to RN)

<Random_Nerd> (Not a full one, a shard.)

<Random_Nerd> (But you're pretty sure he is.)

<Random_Nerd> (Or, at least, he isn't a Noble, a Deciver-shard, or a Strategist-Shard.)

<Brian> (Yes, but at least the way Ftiskonrad behaves, it's a bit split-personality. So, Brian was wondering how the powers division worked with that, and extrapolated from that to "Then they would have had access to Warmain abilities, and so would have looked like Warmain attacks")

<Brian> (... bearing in mind that extrapolating from a single point is dangerous)

<Theresa> (Only if Ftisk wanted to use an attack that was Warmainish.)

<DanteE> (He did try to use that spit-silver attack)

<Ftisk> (also FTisk have as project to gain all Conrad abilities)

<Random_Nerd> (Ftisk does have moments when he feels more Conrady, yes.)

<Random_Nerd> (Usually when exposed to the Outside in some way.)

<Brian> "I'm beginning to become a lot more interested in how Tempering works."

<Ftisk> (nod and a bond that influence that too)

<Random_Nerd> (Yeah.)

<Kite> "Are you going to temper a Warmain also, Brian?"

<Ftisk> "I recommend a Tempering! Is an experience EVERYONE must do a least once!"

<Brian> "No, but ... I'm wondering how the Warmains behave when they are Tempered. If Ftisk is representative."

<DanteE> "Thing is, if her theory's right it makes things... interesting.

<Ftisk> "I'm representative of myself only Brian..." *pout*

<DanteE> "Imagine what happens if the doors are thrown open and stay open."

<Ftisk> "COOL!"

<DanteE> "Everyone remembers who they are. And possibly we get a lot of Estates back.

<DanteE> "Which reminds me... any spotting of Deodands or that Law Caesar brought back?"

<Random_Nerd> William: "Yes."

<Theresa> "Everything right is interesting, Dante. It's the end of an Age. And we have a meeting with the equivalent of an elephant full of nitroglycerin for a jump rope contest."

<Random_Nerd> William: "Deodands, at least."

<Kite> "Remind me if that analogy is supposed to imply a bad thing or a good thing."

<Random_Nerd> William: "There's an axe I should show you. The head came off and it killed a guy. And then the same thing happened two more times. I have it locked up."

<DanteE> to Kite: "Depends on your appetite for spectacle at close range."

<Ftisk> "Wanna SEEE!"

<Kite> "No, Ftisk."

<Theresa> "Ftisk..the axe head or the elephant?"

<Kite> "I am not that interested in finding out what Lord Vulcan's upgrade to your model is like."

<Ftisk> "I'm not asking your permission Kite .. btw I have to ask something, can we go in a private spot?"

<Random_Nerd> William: "And we know that Active Writing works here. But I don't know how to test for the other estate."

<Random_Nerd> (Good question, Theresa!)

<Ftisk> "Axe!"

<Kite> "Yes?"

  • Theresa mentally fwhews. She doesn't have access to an elephant at the moment.

  • Ftisk walk away with kite outside the library

<DanteE> "a-HEM. Anyway. We need to investigate and find the source of the phenomenon so we can find out more about it."

  • Kite proceeds with Ftisk.

<Random_Nerd> (Oh, and "this axe keeps killing people" is one of those things that Sam and William deal with all the time that don't come up much.)

<DanteE> "Theories are one thing, but we need to check it and find out how it happened."

<Ftisk> "Well, I lately have a crave to kill a Noble... any one that come to your mind?"

<Theresa> (...not it!)

=-= YOU are now known as Conrad

<DanteE> (not it)

<Brian> (!)

<Kite> "Ftisk, this is not a good thing you are saying...."

<Theresa> (And he lured you out to someplace private, Kite! Lured, I say!)

<Brian> "There is one way that we'll see what happens like that Dante. The Meeting will have an open door, as you put it."

<Conrad> "I mean NOT family but someone that deserve it you know useful channel my feeling and ... stuff!"

<Brian> "Although I'm surprised that Summoning and Active Writing don't count. Maybe they're like phone lines."

<Brian> "In fact, probably are."

<Random_Nerd> ("Don't count?)

<Brian> (as an "open door" like what Dante was talking about - giving memories back to Outside people. At least, I don't remember it doing so)

<DanteE> "Good point... the doors would have to be open...

<DanteE> "Which means the attending Wildlord(s)..."

<Brian> "... that. ... will ... be interesting"

<Random_Nerd> (Active Writing doesn't normally go across the border.)

<Kite> "Ftisk, I know of no Nobles who you could kill and it would not be a bad thing."

<Conrad> (Kudzu is a wildlord...)

<Random_Nerd> (It only did on a few occasions when Shadows was deliberately opening a channel for you.)

<Brian> (oh right, it was that one experiment we did.)

<Brian> (did we have Conrad at the time?)

<Kite> "Perhaps we can see if the Noble of Foxes is a fake, but I don't think they are."

<Conrad> (don’t remember Brian)

<Conrad> "Foxes, I can work on that"

<Kite> "Don't kill the Noble of Foxes unless we find out they are a fake.

<Theresa> (...Noble of Foxes?)

  • Conrad pat Kite "Details, Kite, details"

<Kite> (Kite doesn't like foxes)

<Random_Nerd> (So... I'm not crazy, the Noble of Foxes has never been a Thing in this game, right?)

<Theresa> (Yeah, we may have our Wildlords go into memory download at the meeting. Then again, it could cause every Warmain there to also download their last Tempering..."

<Brian> (Not that I remember, RN)

<DanteE> "Now I'm wondering what would happen if Shadows did his channel-making thing with Kudzu in the room."

<Theresa> (What does the fox say?)

<Random_Nerd> (Good. I was worried that I was forgetting an important NPCs.)

<Kite> (It creepy-howls)

<Conrad> "Ok, thank you brother, want to join the others?" *smile*

<Kite> "Don't do it, Ftisk."

<Brian> (We do, though, throw Nobles of Things to the wall and see what sticks.)

=-= YOU are now known as Ftisk

<Kite> "But, yes....let's join the others."

<Ftisk> "Sure bro! Nobles never murder Nobles!" *wink*

  • Kite shivers

<Ftisk> "We are the good guys after all!"

<Theresa> (We do horrible things to the Noble of Decisive Actions.)

<Random_Nerd> William: "So, the question now is, did someone do this on purpose or is it a natural result of the turning ages?"

<DanteE> "If someone did it on purpose the War is _over_."

<DanteE> "so, we _really_ need to find out."

  • Ftisk walks back

<DanteE> Does the report have a map of the incidents?

<Theresa> "Would there be any evidence at breech places? If it was something forced from Outside, wouldn't the evidence be Outside still?"

  • Ftisk land on T. shoulder

<DanteE> "Well, some evidence would be inside, since they made it in."

<Random_Nerd> William: "If it was done on purpose, who's a more likely candidate? Us? Or Them?"

<Kite> "It's worth on-site investigation! Let's go!"

<Brian> (game-time, how far away are we from meeting day?)

<Random_Nerd> (Deliberately ambiguous to avoid needless timekeeping, but a week or two.)

<Random_Nerd> ("Real Soon Now.")

<DanteE> to William: "Considering the effects... them."

<Random_Nerd> W: "Hmm. Which 'Them', then? And what were they trying to do, and did it succeed or fail?"

<Brian> "That's an interesting question."

<Brian> "Why?"

<Kite> "How?"

<DanteE> "Well, maybe 'how' will tell us 'why', and 'where' might tell us 'how'."

<DanteE> "We can start by talking to Amoeba Guy and checking out Chancel Jaris."

<Brian> "We can so drop into a Spaceballs gag here, but it's not worth doing."

<Theresa> "When-now or then now or nownow, Brian?"

<Brian> "I meant the 'WHOOOOO!' one, but that works too."

<DanteE> "No, that's 'then' and 'now', not 'where' and 'how'."

<Random_Nerd> (Oh, by the way, Dante has a project related to researching Breach Day, right?)

<DanteE> (Ayep. "How Dante and his friends found the truth about the past.")

<Random_Nerd> (Revelation.)

<Brian> (that's a revelation.)

<Random_Nerd> (Does that give you enough for a Stone?)

<DanteE> (Hang on, checking my old map...)

<DanteE> (I think I had 8 points on that one)

<DanteE> (From the Active Writing talks and helping Ftisk with his explorations)

<DanteE> (This arguably ties into HQB's ongoing mission as well)

<Random_Nerd> (Sure, but it's only a revelation for one. Pick which one.)

<DanteE> (Ah, but my 'simplified' map just has a few branches. It'll be on 'How Dante and his friends...')

<Ftisk> (arrr I need more revelations! My project stay there taking dust...)

<Random_Nerd> (Okay.)

<DanteE> (And I think I do get a stone.)

<DanteE> (Need to drink more water...)

<Random_Nerd> (Well, do you want to think about what to do with it between now and next session?)

<Random_Nerd> (And I imagine we'll be getting more Revelations for a while. It's... that part of the dramatic arc, you know?)

<DanteE> (Yes. Suggestions from the group?)

<Ftisk> (service communication, until January 15 or there around no more logs are to be expected online)

<Random_Nerd> (Mind if I call the session, now? It's late and we've pretty much stopped.)

<DanteE> (Actually, are we done this week?... oops, you answered. :) )

<Brian> (sure)

<Random_Nerd> ______________________STOP__________________

=-= Brian is now known as lazarus

=-= YOU are now known as Angelo

=-= DanteE is now known as Knockwood

=-= Kite is now known as Verithe

<lazarus> we're on for next week, and then off for the next two, correct?

<Random_Nerd> So, what do you guys think, now that you've figured out something that'd been bugging you for a while?

<Random_Nerd> Correct, Laz.

<Random_Nerd> Next week is Chuubo, then we have a two-week gap.

<Knockwood> Did we actually figure it out?

<Angelo> That is good to have revelation!

=-= Theresa is now known as BethE

<lazarus> it feels like we should've known this all along. Kind of like it's been there, but never overt and stated?

<Knockwood> We were dealing with other things

<Random_Nerd> Yeah.

<BethE> What is the service communication thing, Angelo?

<Random_Nerd> Basically, you guys were making solid progress on this...

<Random_Nerd> ...and then Ftisk became a character.

<Random_Nerd> And then things got sidetracked for a bit!

<Angelo> that I'll have no time until 15 Jan to do any more log

<Knockwood> ah yeah, you've been trying to catch up with the Amyra logs on the Wiki

<Angelo> what RN? Ftisk disrupted something? :-P

<Random_Nerd> That's fine, Angelo.

<Random_Nerd> And yeah, he just posted a /lot/ of logs recently.

<Knockwood> How close are you to real time?

<Verithe> I don't believe in real time.

<Verithe> Time is a lie.

<Angelo> 10 or 12real time is 13 session away

<lazarus> Lunchtime doubly so?

<lazarus> or was that an illusion?

<Random_Nerd> Does the stuff you worked out make sense in what came before?

<Verithe> Lunchtime is a myth.

<Random_Nerd> I'm trying to avoid X-Files Syndrome here, and do feel a bit bad about the physics snafu.

<lazarus> RN: it works quite well. Like I said, it felt like stating something that we already knew.

<Angelo> well we are connecting the dots

<Knockwood> Is it in line with your long-term game plan? :P

  • Random_Nerd steeples his fingers.

<Random_Nerd> Lemme just say that I was hoping you'd figure it out before the summit.

<Random_Nerd> This is just about the right time, really.

<Knockwood> reminds me, I think there ought to be more time between 'now' and the summit.

  • Random_Nerd hands a bundle of cash to the Timing Demon.

<Knockwood> 2 weeks seems a little quick to do everything that needs to be done.

<Knockwood> y'know, like building a world...

<Angelo> (and excruciate a Noble)

<Random_Nerd> The world's built.

<Random_Nerd> Vulcan is just putting the finishing touches on it now.

<Angelo> Ftisk: Can we do a tour in the world? Can we? can we?

<lazarus> Brian: "Ftisk, can we tour the world? Can we can we can we?"

<lazarus> ;)

<Knockwood> can we bring Kudzu to it when it's in place just to see what happens?

<Verithe> "No."

<Random_Nerd> You can, but when it's in place is when and where the Excrucians will go to it.

<Random_Nerd> So you can't have just you and him.

<Random_Nerd> Because the moment it's in place is when and where they will enter, whenever that is.

<Angelo> because outside time don't exist

<Knockwood> so, you're setting the stage for when all hell breaks loose? Gotcha.

<Random_Nerd> All hell broke loose ages ago.

<Knockwood> heh... Angelo has a point, we can do this any time. :)

<Random_Nerd> Yeah.

<Random_Nerd> The time factor is mainly a matter of managing your supporters in Creation.

<Random_Nerd> And maybe a bit of that you may have wanted to get it done before Barakiel comes back.

<Random_Nerd> Because... Barakiel.

<Knockwood> and Jan ben Jan...

<lazarus> yes. No Barakiel. 'cause Barakiel.

  • Verithe fears the return of Barakiel

<lazarus> He'll ruin everything.

<Random_Nerd> True, Jan ben Jan is still currently doing the Imperator equivalent of sitting in a bar with a glass of whiskey questioning his life.

<Angelo> nah

<BethE> He'll come into the 'room' with hookers on each arm and then vomit on an Excrucian?

<Random_Nerd> Jan ben Jan has a /lot/ of arms.

<lazarus> oh yeah, we screwed up Jan ben Jan. .... .... I think that was my fault, wasn't it?

<BethE> No, sorry, I was talking about Barakiel and then Jan Ben Jan got alcohol.

<Random_Nerd> It wasn't really your fault.

<Angelo> we need to fix JBJ

<Random_Nerd> It's just that you were asking some big questions, and... well, there was an underlying problem that he didn't know about.

<lazarus> I don't even remember what it was now.

<lazarus> months have passed.

<Angelo> me too

<Knockwood> fix JBJ. Deal with Barakiel. Make peace with Jerren. Figure out what to do about Entropy.

<Knockwood> Well, that's what logs are for. :)

<lazarus> "all in a day's work" :P

<Angelo> something to do with attainability of what he want to obtain from collecting all the parts

<Knockwood> and, oh yeah, save the universe.

<Random_Nerd> Yep!

<Angelo> never go sleep before save the universe each day, so told me my mom!

<Random_Nerd> And on that note, I will leave.

<Random_Nerd> Good session, guys!

<lazarus> good night!

<Angelo> night RN!

<Knockwood> cya next week RN

|<-- Random_Nerd has left irc.magicstar.net (Disintegrated: )

<BethE> Night! *HUGS*

<lazarus> see all y'all next week!

<Knockwood> g'night Beth

<Angelo> Night Beth! *HUG*

|<-- BethE has left irc.magicstar.net (Disintegrated: All shall love me and despair?)

<Knockwood> Angelo see you next year, I guess.

|<-- lazarus has left irc.magicstar.net (Disintegrated: lazarus)

<Angelo> Yeah, good xMass and happy new year to all!

<Knockwood> Same to you Angelo

|<-- Knockwood has left irc.magicstar.net (Disintegrated: Knockwood)

<Angelo> Verithe, did you fear an Ftisk attack as the other did?

<Verithe> Yes

<Angelo> awww! :-( Was not my intentions!

<Verithe> 'salright! :)

<Angelo> eh, I go, have a great holiday season time!

<Verithe> You have a great holiday season, yourself!

<Angelo> :-)

<Verithe> Take care!

<Angelo> you too
