Chapter 6

[lazarus] Etheric provided this quote: (21:33:48) [Etheric] It said that games where the players play out the Enchancelment (which I happen to like, myself) often end up with the characters seeing themselves as humans with superpowers instead of walking demigods.
[Knockwood] Does make sense, if you want that flavor of game.
[lazarus] Brian sees himself sort of like a Solar does: I have kickass powers that I can use to do whatever I want. I used to be human, but now ... I'm not sure if I am anymore.
[BethL] Hmm. Yeah, makes sense. When you've started out with the character thinking human, then Noble...you have trouble seeing yourself swallowing the sun, even without your diet to consider.
[lazarus] Admittedly, i haven't much played out that "what does it mean to be human" philosophy stuff much yet, but ...
[Etheric] Well, any thoughts on how we might develop our characters to make them a bit more, I don't know, Noble-ish?
[BethL] Hmm..I'm not sure. The biggest thing Theresa's done as a Noble is Red, probably. I have trouble thinking big.
[Knockwood] Theresa and I both have Aspect 2, which means the whole Eating the Sun thing would probably be on one of us.
[Knockwood] "Well, now it's dark and I've got heartburn. Great."
[Etheric] Think of it this way, maybe. Let's say you woke up one day with functionally unlimited power, limited only by those of your new peers. Let's say, moreover, that you believe you can and should use that power -- because that sort of arrogance generally comes with the Nobility. What would you do? If you yourself were made Noble, what would you do?
[Knockwood] Find that one bully from middle school and shove his head up his ass...
[Etheric] Personally, I have trouble thinking that big also, but I think it makes sense to think of it this way..
[Knockwood] Considering who we are we _should_ be thinking big... I mean, Hope and Courage.
[lazarus] Part of the problem may be that the things we're currently doing are things like "stop the big stompy thing" or "find out where the lost troops are."
[lazarus] Rather than "we have a Big Nasty Thing co-ordinating an attack on the Chancel from all sides at once, and even from the insides of our chancelfolk!"
[lazarus] Which could also let the Aspect 2 guys break out the Matrix-fu, too
[Knockwood] Plus, I can't be hurt by anything mundane this side of a nuke in my shorts.
[BethL] Hmm..I think I was intimidated with the fight with the Excrucian because I figured that any fancy moves I put on would be negated.
[Etheric] Well, we were given this story to be left to our own devices. If we can't think big, it's entirely our own fault. ;p
[Knockwood] Part of it is because we've got a bunch of loose ends we need to take care of... like the uberbunny.
[lazarus] Perhaps we need to Kung Fu the uberbunny?
[Etheric] Hmm, Major Creation of Kung Fu?
[Etheric] That would be fun.
[BethL] But if Monty blew up...what would that do? *ponders*
[Knockwood] Piss off Kudzu.
[JamesUrban] I find I sometimes think too big in this game. It's like a little game of Populous, I want all my chancel people to be happy.
[JamesUrban] Or black and white.
[lazarus] James: I've got like 12 Bond points stuck into that one
[JamesUrban] And be happy and dance around a big statue of me.
[Knockwood] Well, we do have cows, but they're normal-size...
[lazarus] kw: That's why we have the rabbit
[BethL] *grin* James wouldn't need a statue...
[JamesUrban] Well standing around all day just to be worshiped is kinda boring unless your followers are really good at coming up with nifty songs.
[JamesUrban] Well I'm limited to greater preservations on realm and domain, so I was thinking of a greater preservation of humanity on the changed folks until we change them back sometime.
[Knockwood] Classic problem of intangible domains.
[BethL] Sucks that I have probably the easiest doman...and I can't think big. :P
[JamesUrban] As far as plot goes I have to try and convice ya'll that Lesson is just a tool and not to risk yourselfs trying to save him.
[lazarus] James: that'll all create interesting conflict with Brian
[Knockwood] OK... what could be accomplished with a Creation of Numbers?
[BethL] The fishes and loaves story? Stock Market playing? The National Debt?
[lazarus] We've established that anything that manipulates numbers themselves (like bank accounts etc) are lesser.
[lazarus] Greater I would consider being dealing with numbers of stuff.
[Knockwood] That middle one... do your magic on stocks and you'd have indirect control over a business.
[JamesUrban] Yeah, there's always the start an multinational corporation for power in the Earth story.
[JamesUrban] You could make a fortune coming up with unbreakable cryptography codes.
[JamesUrban] And of course, I want to give the Aides some nifty properties like Durant so they don't get mown down by some po'ed giant sometimes.
[Knockwood] James: I did a Change-Courage on one to make him unaging & disease-free and Brian can just tweak a bank account directly to get money
[BethL] I gave them trees that give health and vigor from their fruit.
[lazarus] I think I'm more interested in trying to figure out how to do put a bubble around the Chancel to keep them safe in perpetuity.
[BethL] Wouldn't the borders do that?
[lazarus] Beth: not really. IIRC, they're 2-way borders for folks who can use them (i.e. at least miraculous folk).
[Knockwood] laz: you want a Borderguard.
[lazarus] kw: not quite. It's not as hands on.

Beth
