Chancel_Amyra
Chapter 6

[Random_Nerd] Now, does a week to think about it give you any new thoughts on the Bunnzilla Situation?
[lazarus] I have no idea what I'm going to do about the rabbit.
[BethL] I can do a Major Creation. I know that. It's just a matter of deciding something to create. And at the moment, Theresa isn't caring much of what Kudzu thinks or wants anyhow.
[BethL] Dante can bring people back to life one at a time. James could possibly use his Urbanization to fix up the property damage or see who has Realm left after this.
[Knockwood] I wonder if we didn't jump the gun, and do something dumb IC because we were psyched or apprehensive about the tone change OOC.
[BethL] *sigh* I'm sorry I brought up the idea, but I'm willing to stand by it.
[lazarus] My main question is why we thought it was a reasonable idea
[Random_Nerd] If you can explain that one to me, I'd be delighted to hear, really.
[Knockwood] I don't think it was reasonable--not IC--but we might have jumped on it because it sounded 'cool'. Then again, if there was a tangle of demon heart and angel feather in the center of the storm we could untangle, we'd be singing a different tune...
[Random_Nerd] Well, really, I think that if you roleplay your character in a way that you think breaks character, I figure that's your own lookout.
[BethL] From the description, now, I don't think anyone would have survived getting to the tangle to unravel it, if it existed.
[Random_Nerd] The tangle, as such, no longer exists in one specific place. Rather, it pervades Monty internally.
[Random_Nerd] Really, although you probably could stop the two from reacting, I'm unsure of how you would do it without killing Monty.
[Etheric] I was never clear on what Dante was trying to do in the first place, personally.
[Random_Nerd] It'd be the equivilent of unravelling a human's heart.
[Knockwood] Eth: well, had an idea of getting to whatever's powering the storm inside Monty--presumably in its center or 'eye'--and do something to quiet it down.
[Random_Nerd] (Okay, now, just to confirm, we'll do a vote. All in favor of retconning out last episode, say aye. All opposed, say nay.)
[Random_Nerd] (Nay.)
[Knockwood] (Aye.)
[BethL] (Nay.)
[lazarus] (Nay.)
[Etheric] (Nay.)
[JamesUrban] (Nay.)
[Random_Nerd] (Okay, the nays have it.)
[Knockwood] (Guess I'm outvoted.)

[JamesUrban] Can one of ya'll summarize the Harvest Chancel points to blow on emergencies thing? I have a feeling it may come up.
[JamesUrban] If a godzilla sized rabbit crashing through your capital isn't an emergency I don't know what is.
[Random_Nerd] You do raise a good point, Rylenor.
[Etheric] There are at least 10, assuming no one used any recently.
[Random_Nerd] To the best of my knowledge, Dynasty Points have been used exactly once.
[Etheric] We do have a few more, as that number is from the last story, looks like.
[Etheric] And twice, RN, if you count the time we bought off the Demanding property.
[Random_Nerd] I meant used them as miracle points. And that was just against the Shard.
[Etheric] Well, dealing with the aftereffects of the Shard.
[lazarus] Can they be used only as regular MPs or can we use them to boost past our standard limit?
[Random_Nerd] They can be converted to Imperator points and back at 25-to-one, or spent as regular miracle points.
[Random_Nerd] As for the latter... Hmm! Yes, I do believe they would allow the use of Words of Command.
[Knockwood] Good to know!
[Random_Nerd] The reason they can, and Last Trump can't, is that Last Trump just moves MPs around, whereas this is a separate stock of MPs that can be used on anything.
[Random_Nerd] Still, be aware of the problems caused by a Word of Command.
[BethL] I can't use a Word, right? Because I'm already in bad shape.
[Random_Nerd] It would not be a good idea, at least. A Word will "wound, disfigure, or spiritually damage even the strongest Sovereign for weeks or months."
[Knockwood] She took a Deadly wound?
[Random_Nerd] Two, I believe. One each in the round when it opened, and when she held on to it and turned it while Carrie dodged.
[Knockwood] (Man, when I screw up I screw up big...)
[lazarus] (Dude, you're a Noble.)
[BethL] (What the hell are you talking about _you_ screwing up? This was _MY_ idea! *raspberry*)
[Random_Nerd] Hmm. Actually, on reflection, I think that it makes sense to make that just one Deadly Wound. Keep the same in-game description, but I think that, going over the timing again, it wasn't open long enough to hurt her twice.
[BethL] I just knew I was hurt badly. I didn't have a quantification of how much.
[DanteE] (What's Theresa's healing time?)
[Random_Nerd] (One moment, let me check.)
[BethL] (Well, Aspect 2 and Durant...)
[Random_Nerd] (Hey, this is interesting. I never noticed it before. Everyone with a GWB, take a look on Conjunctional Effects on page 163.)
[BethL] ( *reaches...nothing* :P )
[Random_Nerd] (She'll be right as rain in a week, Beth, barring the use of AMPs.)
[DanteE] (Neat!)
[BethL] (*laughs* Is that an intentional pun for the plant lady?)
[Brian] (... RN, can I say "HOLY FUCK!"?)
[Random_Nerd] (I'm 90% certain that that was a new-to-2nd-edition rule I never noticed before. I take it that none of you had noticed it before either?)
[Carrie] (Not I...)
[DanteE] (Not me.)
[Carrie] (I vauely recall it being mentioned in the Nobilist, but at the time it went right over my head.)
[Brian] (I did read it. I got past that point. It didn't stick in my mind, though.)

[DanteE] (OK, to start: can I do a Harvest on the Courage being loosed by Monty's rampage? With an eye toward making a reserve of MPs to be used by the others.)
[Random_Nerd] (What would you be doing, to destroy instances of Courage?)
[JamesUrban] (I can probably harvest a bit too as he is destroying large swaths of city.)
[DanteE] (The rampaging rabbit's doing it for me.)
[Random_Nerd] (Then it's not a harvest, Dante.)
[DanteE] (We've all read 'He saw (something scary), and his courage left him, and he took flight...')
[DanteE] (I'll just grab it before it gets too far.
[Random_Nerd] (To do a harvest, you need more than just to point at a loss to your estate and say "I'm harvesting that." The diminishment of your Estate is something you have to do yourself.)
[DanteE] (I DID. :P )
[Random_Nerd] (I don't think that was exactly a harvest, though.)
[Random_Nerd] (Has to be your character doing it, spending a significant amount of time.)
[DanteE] (Hm... about how many people would constitute a Harvest? Cuz right now it would be a good idea (and follow my Code) to scare people away from Monty.)
[Random_Nerd] (Would you be scaring them to the degree that afterwards there would be somewhat less courage in the world?)
[DanteE] (Monty's doing that... but I guess I'm not.)
[Random_Nerd] (You can't outsource Harvesting.)
[DanteE] (Crap, there goes my time-saving idea.)
[DanteE] ("Hello, this is Asok, calling on behalf of DanteCorp. BOO! Thankyouverymuch.")
[Random_Nerd] (Harvesting isn't compatible with timesaving. One of the requirements is spending a lot of time.)
[JamesUrban] (Just to get an idea of the situation, how much city is left between Monty and the waterline? Estimated casualties?)
[Theresa] (So, what exactly are we all able to do at this moment. The extremes of pushing it, with our various specialties. )
[Theresa] (Like, I know I can do a Major Creation with a Last Trump.)
[Random_Nerd] (You don't need Last Trump for that, just 4 DMPs.)
[Theresa] (Oh, even better.)
[DanteE] (You could GC a cage of ironwood, then we can pitch him back into his big cage...)
[JamesUrban] (I can't do much without tapping dynasty points, but I still have enough AMP's to throw Monty into an unihabited stretch of Amyra with a Word using 3 Dynasty points.)
[Random_Nerd] (Four. You can't spend just 3 MPs. 0/1/2/4/8 Or would you be doing a Word of Command?)
[JamesUrban] (Other thoughts were that a lesser change might be able to teleport or petrify him). (Yes a Word).
[Theresa] (Dante - *nod* We'd have to drag him back in the ironwood cage and fix the hole as well. Would we be able to do that before he could grow enough to break out?)
[DanteE] (RN, you said a Level 7 miracle to pitch him somewhere, right?)
[Random_Nerd] (Yes. What's your Aspect?)
[DanteE] (We could do the same thing with a pair of Level 6 miracles, right? Aspect 2.)
[Random_Nerd] (Remember, the rule I pointed out is for Domain and Realm.)
[JamesUrban] (Ah, Clever. Like a Combo move in a fighting game. Doh! thwarted.)
[Random_Nerd] (If you have Aspect 2, then to throw him around would mean that Dante's walking wounded for at least the next month. Are you okay with that?)
[DanteE] (... so Theresa and I can't do conjunctional Aspect miracles?)
[Random_Nerd] (Nope. It talks about having correspondingly relevant Domains or Estates. That's the limiting factor.)
[Random_Nerd] (Since every noble's Aspect works the same, there's no corresponding limit on Aspect being used together. You could always do it for anything.)
[DanteE] (Nertz. OK, how about a Deep Aspect Miracle to drag Monty back to the hole?)
[Theresa] (And the only ones that have similar Domains are Hope and Courage, I feel.)
[Brian] (Incidentally, one of the simplifying effects of the LARP system is to get rid of the 1/2/4/8 progression. :-P Too bad we're not using it )
[DanteE] (Maybe if we promise to stand up and talk funny while we type?
[Random_Nerd] (I like the 1/2/4/8 progression. It makes extra MPs actually worthwhile.)
[Brian] (It's interesting, but limiting in some ways. The other way is different, not better, not worse, except that it's easier to remember "3 is 3" rather than "3 is 4".)
[DanteE] (You never answered James... how much town between Monty and the sea?)
[Random_Nerd] (There's about three or four miles to go.)

  • DanteE guises himself an intact outfit...

Okay, you have a rabbit on your hands. He's big, and he's scared, and he thinks that the best thing for him to do is go to the sea.
[Random_Nerd] (He also needs a ham, but that's neither here nor there.)
There're a few miles of city between him and the sea. What Do You Do?
[Theresa] (The ironwood cage good with everyone?)
[Brian] (Lesser Creation of a ham in his paws?)
[Random_Nerd] (Sorry, Devil Bunny joke, with the ham.)
[DanteE] (Wait, are you saying he's an actual Devil Bunny?
[Carrie] (Demon + Angel bunny at the least.)
[Random_Nerd] (Well, part demon, part semifallen angel. Close enough...)
[DanteE] "Theresa, are you all right?"

  • Theresa grits her teeth. "No. But I am at least _mad_...." *next time Monty's paws hit the ground, ironwood box (not a cage, just a box, nothing for him to get a grip to chew on) forms around Monty.*

[Random_Nerd] (Greater Creation, 4 DMPs. I assume you're including a Greater Preservation too?)
[Theresa] (E-yep.)
[JamesUrban] (Make it uber thick too.)
[Random_Nerd] (Is the top covered, too?)

  • Theresa flinches a little from the Creation, but it's done. (Yes, to James and yes to RN.)

[DanteE] (Careful, we have to let him out sometime)
[Random_Nerd] (Okay.)
[Theresa] (I'm not having him jump out, RN. )
What looks like an immense brown cube shimmers into existence around Monty. You can no longer see him, but you hear him hop inside it and bash up against it several times. With the loud impacts caused by this, buildings shake, and glass shatters, but the box holds.

  • DanteE Ghosts some Courage into Monty to calm him down.

Monty still smashes against the inner box, because his desire to get to the sea is overpowering inside him. People scream, sirens blare.
[Random_Nerd] (The box, being large but supernaturally strong, can be lifted and carried with Aspect 6. Since you don't have to worry about it breaking apart in your hands, you only need the "unlimited force" level rather than the "That isn't even /possible" level.)
[Brian] "Right. We let the rabbit out of ONE cage, let him hop around town, smash buildings, crush people, cause Dementia in the others, and then we put him in ANOTHER cage. Only THIS one doesn't grow with him. Remind me why this was a good idea?"
[Theresa] *breathes* "My bad idea to start with, now I'm fixing it, Brian."
[Brian] "I want to know why the REST of you went along with it!"
[DanteE] "Because Monty's presence and growth required _some_ action. This was just the wrong one."
[JamesUrban] "It was conceivable that Dante could have separated the elements inside Monty responsible for his growth."
[Theresa] (What kind of ghost miracle would it be to make the box look like something else?)
[Random_Nerd] (Ghost miracles are somewhat transparent, and generally not huge. You'd need more than ghosts to decorate this elephant-in-the-living-room.)
[Theresa] (Darn. I was thinking about changing the look of the box to cause less DA from a woman dragging a mammoth box down the street.)
[DanteE] (Is it obvious Monty's heading for the sea IC?)
[Random_Nerd] (He suddenly turned and made a beeline for the coast. It's pretty clear.)
[DanteE] (What else is in that direction, besides sea?)
[Random_Nerd] (Buildings, people, and so on.)
[Random_Nerd] (Hmm. Ninety-five trees along his rough path, a lemonade stand, an old statue or two...)
[DanteE] (What's on the other side of the _sea_?)
[Carrie] (Earth, I believe.)
[Random_Nerd] (Nothing. The chancel boundary. Take your pick.)
[Theresa] (If it's like what happened to the soldiers, then we'd be inflicting Monty on somewhere else on Earth. Like, say, Tokyo.)
[Random_Nerd] (Tokyo would at least be prepared for this!)
[DanteE] ("Ah! Kawaiizilla!")
[JamesUrban] "It did not occur to me that we would fail. We haven't failed yet, but that has now changed in my opinion."
[Brian] "No one ELSE thought that large, supernatural rabbit plus teleportation device equals disaster?"

  • Carrie's eyes are distant as she look out at Monty via Lesser Divination. "There is always a way to avert disaster, Brian. Even after it has happened."
  • DanteE heads for the box...

[DanteE] "Where is he going?"
[JamesUrban] (Lesser Div of Realm - Is there a deserted valley or uninhabited island that would be a good stashing place for Monty?)
[Random_Nerd] (Good by what standards?)
[Random_Nerd] (There's a mostly uninhabited island that's at least half again his size, but he wouldn't have much room to move.)
[JamesUrban] (Few people. Isolated. Cut off from escape by mountains/sea.)
[Random_Nerd] (Mountains and sea wouldn't stop Monty. He could move over or through any mountains in the chancel, and the sea cuts off into nonchancel before it gets more than shoulder deep on him.)
[JamesUrban] (Thanks for the info. Where's a Skull Island when you need to put Kong behind a gate when you need one.)
[Random_Nerd] (Major Creation of Skull Island, Realm 7.)
[JamesUrban] (Touche. Not with my points today.)
[Brian] "I need to think. You all fix this mess." *Brian heads off to some quiet place to think for a bit*

  • Theresa will head with Dante toward the box too. A bit slower, though. Occasionally staring at her arm along the way.

[JamesUrban] "Theresa and Carrie, I am sorry. I did not think that you could be harmed by the portal. Otherwise I would have never subjected you to that risk."
[Theresa] "It's okay, James. This was my idea. I should have realized that whatever is inside Monty is more than can be handled with just a look at it."
[DanteE] "I'm the one that went in. I should have known that first."
[Carrie] (Could a Major Creation with included Lesser Change, make an island that grew along with Monty, yet stayed the same size as far as the outside was concerned?)
[Random_Nerd] (It would cause DA to anyone who got a good look at it, but you could.)
[Random_Nerd] (The reason the building didn't do that is that it was enclosed. With this, there would be a sudden place in thin air where space starts working differently.)
[Carrie] (Make it far out in the ocean, then, maybe...)
[DanteE] (And we still need to _get_ him there...)

You hear big rabbity gasps inside the Cube of Lepus.
[Theresa] (Oh _crap_. RN, you jerk. :P )
[DanteE] (I thought Monty didn't need to breathe?)
[Brian] (Ok, and now you're going to KILL the rabbit, in the CAGE that will NOT grow with it ANYWAY...)
[Brian] (That would be an IC comment, by the way, if Brian were there.)
[Random_Nerd] (Monty still thinks he's a rabbit. He doesn't really have lungs, but he thinks he needs air. Just like he lacks a stomach, but still eats.)
[Theresa] (The cage was to keep him in one place. It would be broken once he was where we wanted him.)
[Random_Nerd] (He's not dying, but he's getting scared. And although his internal processes don't require air, they do use it up to some degree.)
[DanteE] LC Courage into his little rabbity brain to calm him down
The gasps slow and quiet down.

  • JamesUrban continues walking beside Theresa towards the box.
  • Theresa mutters, "Carrie, I really wish you could miracle me right now. I could use it."

You hear the sound of your old friend the military chopper in the background.
[DanteE] "OK, we need to deal with him, and undo all this (the damage he caused). Ideas?"
[JamesUrban] "Create an island where he can roam, much like his room was. We can then cart him there."
[Theresa] "Dante, you can handle the dead people, although it will take a while. Would those who have more of a connection to the Chancel be able to repair the property damage?"

  • Carrie likely can't keep up with the Aspect 2 people, anyway, so she's going to the clock tower-office.

[DanteE] "Hm...
[DanteE] "Can those choppers take him somewhere?"
[DanteE] "Maybe a squad of them in formation?"
[Random_Nerd] (Amyra doesn't have nearly enough choppers to lift the immense Rabbitbox.)
[JamesUrban] "The damage will not be repaired. I will harvest this destruction of my city and it shall remain this way as a reminder to me of my failure."
[Random_Nerd] (Now, that could actually work. If you take significant efforts to make sure that the damaged buildings don't get rebuilt, I could see that as making sense as a Harvest.)
[DanteE] (What all got trashed?)
[Random_Nerd] (About a three or four mile stretch of buildings.)
[Random_Nerd] (Similarly, Dante, if you made it so these people stayed scared from now on, that would probably count.)
[JamesUrban] (That's my plan. The harvest will be that people just don't have an urge to rebuild after I speak with them.)

  • Theresa slowly nods. "That's a good idea, James. I shall do the same for the plants that have been hurt this way. But afterwards...I think...I will need to be alone. There's...a place I need to be for a while."

[Random_Nerd] (Hmm. Not replacing the plants might not count. My reasoning is, Urbanization doesn't just mean buildings. Making it so that this part of town is no longer a city to be rebuilt, that takes something away from Urbanization.)
[Theresa] (Well, I wasn't meaning as a Harvest. Just a cleanup.)
[Random_Nerd] (Similarly, making it so people will stay scared would be taking something away from Courage.)
[Random_Nerd] (Ah, okay.)
[DanteE] "There are other effects, though... the flattened bank would have an effect on the economy...”
[DanteE] "...the smashed cars mean more work to get the people out of them...”
[DanteE] "This is, what, a thousand jobs gone?"
[DanteE] "... you sure you want to take the heat?"
[Random_Nerd] (Fortunately, there are almost as many people gone as jobs, I suppose.)
[DanteE] (The former I can fix.)

  • Carrie uses her time to herself to check with her mother/Anchor/press representative on how the media is taking this.

[Random_Nerd] (Terrified bordering on incontinence. Remember how the USA reacted when the WTC went down? Several times that.)

  • DanteE Ghost-Realms a voice over the chopper radios: "This is the Noble of Courage. We will handle this. Keep people away from here until we are done."

The chopper stops moving forward, and hovers for a moment.
[Theresa] "I'm sure we have plenty of places in all of Amyra that became useless once the borders shut down."
[JamesUrban] via Realm's Heart to Carrie, "Have your mother inform the government that there has been an attack on the capital, and that we have handled it. The loss of life will be remedied over time. It would be best if we dealt with the situation unhindered."
[Carrie] (Assuming Carrie's mom is beginning to lose hope, I'm going to bolster her hope with a Lesser Creation, using an SMP for that with her permission.)
[Random_Nerd] (She won't object to that in any way, and it helps a lot.)
[Random_Nerd] (She starts to talk to the government folks who're hounding her in a much more calm fashion.)
You hear, from the part of town on the opposite side of you from where the stuff happened, car horns honking loudly.
[Random_Nerd] (Incidentally, there have been a number of car accidents as people fled the downtown region.)
[DanteE] Radio: #Evacuate the areas nearby. Make sure no one is in our way.#
Shortly, fire trucks start arriving, along with all the ambulances in the city. Also, the Monstrositymobile, which pulls over right next to the group of you.
[JamesUrban] "Shall we make an announcement over the Chancel-wide communication bulletin board?"
[DanteE] "Ah, yeah, good idea..."
[Theresa] "It'll be for the best, I think. Might calm folks down to know that someone is at least looking into it."
[DanteE] (Remind me: the effects of someone viewing one of my raise-dead miracles are...?)
[Random_Nerd] (Serious shaking of prosaic orientation, generally.)
[Random_Nerd] (Less so if the person wasn't clearly dead.)

[Carrie] (Okay, now, Carrie to Helen Winters.) "We are going to need to make a public statement. As you are known to be the public face of the Nobility, I would like you to make the statement, but I will be with you helping you all the way. My Brother has informed me that this is to be understood as an enemy attack, for the morale of the population."
[Carrie] "When you make the speech, I will use my power through you to rekindle the hope of Amyra."
Helen, to [Carrie] "Okay. Shall I have them arrange for it to be broadcast?"
[Carrie] "Please do." (Lesser Divination to determine the best time for a speech.)
[Random_Nerd] (The best time is now. People are scared and uncertain. The sooner they get calmed down and reassured, the better.)
[DanteE] (Question: Could I help Carrie with that with a Conjunctional miracle, so we both only need to do L6?)
[Carrie] (They're both a Deep Miracle for me, Dante.)
[DanteE] (That's right, you're D3.)
[Random_Nerd] (But yes, Dante, you probably could. Hope and Courage have a certain amount of overlap in some areas.)
[Carrie] "As soon as possible. I will be with you until then."
[Brian] (If it's necessary to know, Brian's gone to wherever he lives, and is currently sitting and thinking. No drink, or anything else like that.)
[Carrie] (to Helen Winters) "Calm them. Let them know that we are with them. Let them know that this is a sign of the true precariousness of this realm, and an opportunity to build anew."
[DanteE] (And let them know there won't be casualties... once I'm done.
Helen repeats those words to the press.
[Carrie] (Can I use AMP to boost my Anchors' oratory ability, without fully possessing them?)
[Random_Nerd] (No. You can only perform miracles through them, not empower them to perform the miracles themselves.)
[Carrie] (Okay, is the speech happening now, or are people still preparing TV cameras and such?)
[Random_Nerd] (They already had cameras around in the Parliament building, where she already happened to be.)
[Random_Nerd] (The speech is happening as soon as you want it to start.)
[Carrie] (Okay, just one more thing..) "Do you wish me to speak through you, for part of the speech? You may let the people know they are my words, through you, but if it will help, I would like to give my aid."
Helen: "If you think that would be best, dear, I trust your judgment."
[DanteE] (Did she trust it a month ago, when you were thinking of getting that piercing? )
[Carrie] (Hush, you.)
[Carrie] "All right. Please begin, and I will be with you."
Helen: "Very well..."

  • Carrie will use a Major Creation of Hope as the speech begins, creating a strong Hope that they will be able to rebuild anew, better and brighter, in the hearts of all who see it.
  • Carrie will fuel this with SMPs, by the way, and presumably has her Anchor's permission.

[Random_Nerd] (As the miracle sinks in, you can feel people calming down and relaxing.)
[Random_Nerd] (Helen's at least implicitly given you permission to act through her to calm the people down. I say this falls under that.)
[Carrie] (What's the deal with Aspect through Anchors? It costs more MPs, right?)
[Random_Nerd] (Three more, right? Three or two.)
[Random_Nerd] (Carrie, do you want to give me a general idea of the speech you wanted to have Helen make?)
[Carrie] (Sure, sorry, was looking something up.)
[Random_Nerd] (Okay.)
[Carrie] (Basically, I want her to speak directly to the people, saying that this is not just a danger but an opportunity, that they can and will rebuild, that the Nobles are dealing with the problem and will support them.)
[Random_Nerd] (Okay. Due to the Hope miracle you did, this speech goes over better than one might expect under the circumstances.)
[Carrie] (Oh, and is it too late to put something into that Hope miracle that will make people immune to DA for a short time?)
[Random_Nerd] (That would, I think, take a separate Hope miracle. Conceptually different.)
[Carrie] (Right. Well, it was worth a shot. When Helen gives Carrie the floor, I'm using an Aspect 2 oratory to inspire the population, already fired up from the Hope I've created.)
[Brian] (Incidentally, Brian's tv would be on, to monitor the news reports.)
[Carrie] (when Carrie's mom introduces her words) "People of Amyra! Hope will never be vanquished, for it is woven into the fabric of this world. Hope will never be overcome, for it is creative enough to withstand all destruction. The hope within each of you calls out toward a better future. Make that future, with us. Create it, with us. We will be watching."

  • Theresa lifts an arm to wave at Lesson but it's the bad arm.

Lesson and his gang pour out of the vehicle.
Lesson: "What happened? And how can we help?"
William and Samuel also file out of the vehicle, somewhat slower.
William: "Was this an external attack, or something else?"
[DanteE] "Lesson... go and get the people out of those smashed cars."
Lesson, and Ick, once Lesson gestures at him, go and start pulling people from cars.
[Theresa] "It was...an experiment." (Do the Aides know the police station where Lesson was holed up at?)
[Random_Nerd] (They probably do.)
The arm guys stand around, looking helpless.
[Theresa] "Will or Sam, take some of the arm guys, head over to the police station Lesson was at. I want the healing plant I left in there stripped in a leaf brigade. Those leaves passed around might help out some of the hospitals or even just people out of the street." (Will that work?)
[Random_Nerd] (That'll work. And even if the Aides don't know where it is, the arm guys would.)
[DanteE] (No need... but I am going to start raising people. Can I do an entire small area's worth at once, so they don't see each other get raised?)
William goes over to the road, and flags down the nearest car. He says, in a confident-sounding voice, "I'm sorry, sir, but this is an emergency, as you see. We need to borrow your car for a short while."
The guy inside pauses for a moment, and then seems ro agree, clearing out of the car. The aides and arm guys get in the car and go.
[DanteE] "What do we do with him (Monty), though?"
[DanteE] (Great, another witness...)
[Theresa] (Dante, I can handle the car guy.)
[DanteE] (Ah yeah, forgot that.
[Random_Nerd] (You have to do people one at a time, with your gift. Later, if you want, you can put more points into it to make it more broad in effect.)
[Random_Nerd] (Now, even if they do get DA, dead is distinctly worse than DA.)
[DanteE] (Can I Ghost a fog into place that'll obscure what I'm doing?)
[Random_Nerd] (Sure. Still, people will still notice that something's up. But it will help some with the DA.)
[Theresa] (How close are we to the box?)
[Random_Nerd] (The box is a few miles off. You can still see it from here. It's a /big/ box.)
[DanteE] (I'll do that... fog-raise-raise-raise-etc.)
The guy whose car was commandeered stands around for a moment, and then starts running away from downtown.
[Theresa] (Huh. Too late.)
[Random_Nerd] (He's human. You're Aspect 2. You can catch him if you want.)
[Theresa] (Nah. I was just going to Irresistible him into coming with us at least out of resurrection viewing range.)
[DanteE] (I think he's heading that way anyway)
[Theresa] (Dante - yep. Ah, well. Theresa wasn't feeling like smiling anyhow.)
[Random_Nerd] (Knock is correct, he's going away from the area where the miracles are going down.)
Dante, wreathed in fog, is resurrecting people left and right.
Dante, you're making progress with the people, but it'll probably take hours to raise all of them. Probably more, given the time it would take to locate and walk to all of them, but you could use Divinations to help with that.
[Theresa] "I'll keep heading toward the box. I want to make sure that Monty's not getting ideas. And maybe I can drag it off somewhere a bit...oh, who am I kidding. That thing’s more noticeable than a nun in a BSMD strip joint."
[DanteE] (Any of our 'helpers' still around?)
[DanteE] (I want to send the raised people somewhere... I'm thinking the college quad.)
[Random_Nerd] (Lesson and Ick are dragging people out of cars in the same area you're in.)
[DanteE] (And what are we going to do about Monty already?!?)
And, speaking of helpers, guess who just arrived? Three members of the Suits And Lapel Flowers Brigade, accompanied by a pair of hulking humanoids about the size and build of Ick, and a trio of three-foot-tall insectoid-looking creatures that scamper around madly and seem to be under the effects of either personal strobe or low framerate.
The Cams smile in unison.
Blue Flower: "Are you in need of any... assistance?"
Red Flower and Yellow Flower continue to smile.
The ogres loom, the nimblejacks skitter.
[DanteE] "Oh, great."
[Theresa] "Nice day, ain't it?" *walks to the box*
[DanteE] "Not yet."
Blue Flower: "This certainly looks like a regrettable situation. All those people killed."
Lefthand Ogre: "Didn't even know bunnies /got/ that big."
Righthand Ogre: "Didn't use to like bunnies much. Maybe just didn't meet the right kind."

  • DanteE makes a point of raising someone right in front of Blue Flower.

[Random_Nerd] (Most of the people, when raised, lie there and shake some. Being killed by a giant rabbit is /traumatic/.)
[JamesUrban] "The situation is under control, and we are correcting the damage."
Blue Flower: "Ah, but what's done can't be undone, can it?"

  • Theresa will burn off some of her anger with herself with the powerwalk to the box. Stupid Cams. Stupid rabbit. Stupid Imperator wanting to keep the Stupid Rabbit. Stupid Angel torturing the Stupid Demon causing the conflict in the Stupid Rabbit. Stupid self.

Blue Flower: "Once a man's had that" *gestures at a traumatized but not alive guy* "happen to him, is he really even the same man, afterwards?"

  • DanteE Ghosts some Courage into the shakier ones, pointedly ignoring the Cams.

Blue Flower: "Now, what did these poor people do to deserve this?"
Lefthand Ogre: "Hurting people when you don't know what they done is /bad/."
Righthand Ogre: "Yeah, you gots to have /proof/ first."
[JamesUrban] "I'd normally say you'd be surprised at what can be undone, but I guess you of all people wouldn't."
[DanteE] "Gentlemen. I believe the authorities are currently evacuating this area...”
[DanteE] "Which means, by staying here, you are violating the laws of the country by interfering with rescue efforts.”
Blue Flower: "You seem to have panic in the streets here. If we were to arrange for everyone in this part of town to fall into a quiet and dreamless sleep, could you do us a favor later on?"
Red Flower: "This favor would be the same sort of thing, of course. No obligation to hurt people or anything."
[DanteE] "You really should go back to your offices, or homes, or wherever you can go."
Blue: "We're trying to help. Why did you let us live here, if not so we can help you?"
Red: "If these people were to just sleep, you wouldn't need to evacuate. You could fix things, and nobody would have to see anything that would make them... see things differently."
Blue: "Let us help you."
Blue Flower: "Now, don't think of us as the Devil or anything. He's a rather unpleasant sort, and we don't really like his style."
[JamesUrban] "Thank you for your offer of assistance, but we decline at this time. Please don't bother us further, we've work to do." (Aspect 2 Miracle of being polite but firm and persuasive)

  • DanteE looks over the Cams, in Mythic view.

[Random_Nerd] (Blue and Red look like either themselves or like crows with walking sticks and monacles, depending on the angle. Yellow looks more like a black lab in evening dress.)
Blue Flower: "But we want to be able to assist you. That's what we're for! And as you know, using us can help avoid problems with any... piddling little regulations and rules..."
Blue: "Is that final? None of you want our help?"
Red Flower: "Because we can. All you'll have to do to repay us is do something to keep someone /else's/ Chancel from getting hurt."
[JamesUrban] To flower guys - "Yes, I'm sure at some point we'll encounter a problem that requires your assistance, but this is not that problem."
Blue: "You won't be obligated to hurt anyone, imprison anyone, or otherwise violate your principles. Otherwise the deal's off and you don't have to do the favor we asked..."
Red, to [Theresa] "You really don't want us to help these poor suffering people?"
Righthand Ogre: "That's just /mean/."
Lefthand Ogre: "Yep. Really mean."

  • DanteE continues raising people in a fog...

[Carrie] (You know, it's really too bad Brian and I aren't there? Because this is a rather dumb thing you three are doing.)
[DanteE] (What, exactly? We haven't taken their offer.)
[Carrie] (You're giving them every incentive to call Entropy's Laws on you.)

  • Theresa was walking quite a while ago toward the box, so not sure if she would hear Red.

[Random_Nerd] (Theresa, you have Aspect 2 hearing. You can hear them.)

  • Theresa stops walking for a moment, thinking.

[JamesUrban] (They mistakenly think we did this, when we didn't. We didn't make the rabbit, Kudzu did. That's my take.)
[Carrie] (You really think the Locust Court will care about that?)
[Random_Nerd] (Entropy is not the Imperator Of Seeing Things From Both Sides Of The Issue, I would mention.)
[Carrie] (Besides which, we loosed it..)
[Brian] (Carrie, Brian would send the Cammorae away, probably, but in a way that's like "this situation is insufficiently large to require more assistance ... except for possibly moving that box, and building an island for the rabbit")
[Theresa] (I'll accept the deal with the jerks. I'll keep the rest of the Family out of it. What all do we want for a Plant miracle?)
Red Flower: "We really aren't asking you to do anything wrong. If we went around lying about this sort of thing, we wouldn't even be alive right now."
[DanteE] "What do you want?"
Blue: "A favor to be called in later, to use a large-scale miracle to help protect the people of another Chancel in a way that doesn't hurt anyone."
Red: "And if you think the favor we ask is wrong, you can just tell us that, and we'll leave you alone until we have another idea that we think you won't mind."
Nimblejacks: *skitter skitter skitter*
[Brian] (Rule #0: do NOT have a standing favour FOR the Cammorae...)
[Theresa] "How large scale of a large scale?"
Blue: "Like that box, there. Something that can affect a large area."
[Theresa] "And what would the favor that you would be doing us? Just to have it spelled out for me?"
Blue: "We could make everyone in the area fall into a peaceful and quiet sleep for a few hours, and then wake up. They'd have time to pull their cars over before they fell asleep, and so forth."
Blue: "Or do you have another idea?"
Red: "The Power of Night owes us one, for a favor very much like this one that we did for him."
Blue: "There was a flesh-eating ocean, see. And the Power of Hunger owed us one before that..."
Righthand: "The angry water was /scary/."
[Theresa] (I'm going to accept. Can't think of a better way to take care of the area so that Dante can work. We've got enough DA already. Objections?)
[Carrie] (Carrie would approve, if she were there, just to get the Cams off our backs. She'd likely even make a similar offer herself, if she were there.)
[Theresa] (Just one favor from whomever agrees, right?)

  • DanteE blows an RMP on a BB broadcast to the other Nobles and our Aides: "The Cammorae are offering to send everyone in the area into a 'dreamless sleep', which would help us avoid DA, in exchange for later on doing 'large-scale help' for another chancel.

Red: "I know we have a bad reputation. But we help people, too. We do as much business with the Angels and the Light as we do with the Devils and the Dark."
[DanteE] BB: "Comments?"
[Brian] BB: "I don't like the thought of being in the Cammorae's debt AT ALL. I will not be included in whatever agreement you reach."
[Carrie] (Can a Realm 2 Miracle let a Radiant use the RH?)
[Random_Nerd] (No, the RH isn't a miracle. Rather, it has to do with having a part of yourself embedded in the chancel heart.)
[Carrie] (So Dante can't do what he just did.)
[Random_Nerd] (You could do a ghost miracle to get words across, though.)
[Random_Nerd] (That would effectively work about the same.)
[Brian] (Or pray.)
[Random_Nerd] (Praying works, too.)
[Carrie] (Oh, my mistake. Dante can do it without even spending any MPs on it.)
[Random_Nerd] (Now, if you were outside the chancel, you couldn't use a ghost to pass messages to the Heart.)
[DanteE] (Ah, that's the confusion... so, I could whisper to the Realm's Heart and broadcast on the BB that way?)
[Random_Nerd] (Basically, the Realm's Heart contains a representation of any of you with Realm 2, and also the BB.)
[Random_Nerd] (While you're in-chancel, you can use ghosts to send messages to any of those.)
[DanteE] (What's happening with Monty right now?)
[Random_Nerd] (Monty, calmed down by the Courage, is waiting patiently in his box. He's still wheezing a little, but nothing too serious.)
[JamesUrban] via Ghost Miracles "I have no objections to any of you accepting the deal. I will not."

  • Theresa prays to Dante. "I'll accept the deal. You still owe them a miracle for setting them up in the Chancel. No need for them to have you doubletime."

[DanteE] BB: 'You sure?'
[Theresa] *praying* "The whole situation stinks, but yeah. Let me at least help out this way to bring back the life that was lost."
[DanteE] BB: "Careful, my sister."
[JamesUrban] via Ghost Miracles "However, if possible, I want them out of the Chancel after this."
[Theresa] *praying* "At least this deal has a loophole in it. If I'm going to be punished for it, might as well make it worth it."
[Theresa] (How good is the Cam hearing? Can they hear Theresa if she talks out loud?)
[Random_Nerd] (Cams frequently have enhanced senses.)
[Random_Nerd] (It's a common small favor they ask from those who can grant it.)
[Theresa] (They can probably hear a deal with them through solid concrete.)
[DanteE] (Where did we decide to put Monty?)
[Random_Nerd] (If you decided, I didn't hear it.)
[Theresa] (We hadn't decided where to put him. I thought that the places we thought of all are either outgrowable or jumpable.)
[DanteE] (Well, if you take the deal we'll have time to act...)
[DanteE] (Oh, question: would the people I'm raising come back asleep?)
[Random_Nerd] (No, since they'll be dead, rather than awake, at the time of the miracle.)
[DanteE] (Then we'd still have to deal with DA.)
[Random_Nerd] (But not nearly as many instances, and not in a lawbreaking way.)

  • Theresa turns toward the group. "Cammorae, I accept the deal as you have stated it."

Blue Flower: "Very well."
He looks at Yellow Flower.
[JamesUrban] to Lesson via Anchor-chat "A sleep spell is being cast to minimize panic. Do not be alarmed and continue your work. "
Yellow Flower opens his briefcase, and pulls out a fist-sized bundle of violets.
His eyes roll up into his head, and then complete a 360, but come back with purple irises. He crushes the violents in his hand, and the smell of them is suddenly overpowering. Everyone present but you, them, and their nonhuman servants starts to fall asleep.
[Theresa] (What about Lesson and Ick?)
[DanteE] (Including the Bureau?)
[Random_Nerd] (Lesson and Ick don't really sleep. The arm guys, however, do.)
Yellow-flower's eyes roll back around and return to brown, and he puts the crushed flowers back in his briefcase.
Blue Flower: "A pleasure doing business with you, ma'am."
Yellow, in a somewhat ritual sounding voice, says "This miracle has been brought to you by Laurence of the Light."
"... power of Night."
[Theresa] (Oh, now _there's_ something...)
[DanteE] "Hold on..."
Red: "Yes, sir?"
[DanteE] "When things settle down, bring us details on that Courage or Blades miracle I still owe you."
Red: "Very well, sir. We generally try to give you time to settle in before calling in such favors."

  • DanteE goes back to raising people.
  • Theresa nods in the direction of the Cams. *prays* "I'm heading toward the box to make sure Monty's behaving. Maybe I'll see a place on the way to drag him off to."

[Brian] (Incidentally, this area would make a good zone for Monty if it's not going to be rebuilt...)
[JamesUrban] (I think it was a bad idea to have him near a populated area, and I'm not making that mistake twice.)
[Random_Nerd] (The damaged area is a crooked line a few miles long, about Monty's width.)
[DanteE] (Until he grows some more. And he'd probably be visible from the rest of town.)

[Theresa] A question...is the advertisement at the end of the miracle a Cam thing or a snobby bit on the part of the Noble?
[Random_Nerd] You don't currently have enough information to determine that! But it sounds pretty snobby.
[Knockwood] Might be thrown in by the noble as a reminder that his debt is now paid. Then again... someone new to meet.
[BethL] Or it might be a Cam thing in letting other people in the place it is being used that Such and Such did this miracle/favor for us, so if you want to take it out, take it out on them...
[Random_Nerd] Part of it, too, might be a way to establish friendly relations with another group of Nobles.
[JamesUrban] Or it just may be advertisement. Cut out the middle man, get miracles direct from the source.
[Knockwood] BTW, would you consider it the end of the story once we deal with this mess? We'd have problems going after the soldiers drained of MPs
[Random_Nerd] Yeah, I think the Rabbit Gone Wild thing will count as its own story.
[Random_Nerd] Probably one session or so to finish dealing with it, barring unexpected hurdles.
[Etheric] I still have enough for a deep miracle of Realm if anyone wants to team up on a Major Creation of Montyspace.
[lazarus] I have been having fun so far. And I will admit that I haven't actually used much in the way of MPs this story.
[Knockwood] Would it help if we got more footage of Monty topless wrestling with another rabbit?
[BethL] But isn't Monty a boy?
[Knockwood] They have 'Boys Gone Wild' now. :/
[BethL] They do? Huh... *shifty eyes*
[Random_Nerd] Why not just put Monty in orbit as a second chancel-specific moon?
[BethL] Wouldn't he explode?
[Random_Nerd] I'm sure you could arrange otherwise.
[Knockwood] Well... he'd get bored, wouldn't he?
[Random_Nerd] Greater Creation of Air, with included Greater Preservation. Give him his own atmosphere.
[BethL] Hmm..might not mess up the tides too horribly.
[Random_Nerd] Of course, it just occurred to me that that would cause an alarming amount of DA.
[Knockwood] Well... if he keeps growing, eventually we'll orbit him...
[BethL] The Real Rabbit in the Moon. [G]
[Random_Nerd] "And, for you home astronomers, a Total Eclipse of the Rabbit is expected for three in the morning..."
[JamesUrban] Thinking of Montyspace, I think sticking him on a growing island and maybe slowing time so he doesn't grow is my vote.
[BethL] Can we slow time?
[Random_Nerd] Hmm. You probably could come up with a way to slow time.
[Knockwood] Could do the direct approach, kill or slow his growth...
[Knockwood] I think James has it, we need a Skull Island.
[lazarus] Under the new definition of Numbers that RN and I worked out just prior to the session, I can't actually affect rates of change of stuff except by making an at-that-instant massive change.
[lazarus] (or, potentially, small change)
[lazarus] But not rates of change themselves.
[Knockwood] Could you tweak the scale, so Monty is 'actually' a foot tall?
[BethL] Hmm...great, now I'm wondering what Monty's half-life is...
[JamesUrban] And for the record..[Hollyhock] "I thank you for your services, Powers. I wish for you to keep this animal unharmed and ready until I have need of it."
[BethL] Darn, the unharmed bit.
[Knockwood] "I thought he was bigger!" "Somebody goofed converting from the metric."
[lazarus] That I can do, at least for non-miraculous stuff.
[Random_Nerd] Well, would you want a Monty was a foot tall, but had the momentum and inertia of a gigantic Monty?
[lazarus] And, well, that too.
[JamesUrban] Yep, I though about turning him to stone or something, but unharmed is a tough one.
[lazarus] And perhaps the space of a gigantic Monty, too.
[Knockwood] Nuts.
[Random_Nerd] Oh, and if you did that, the contents of Monty would be under major pressure, I imagine...
[Etheric] I was thinking make an island where everything is and stays Monty-sized.
[BethL] Poke the bunny and you not only have the usual pressure of the bloodstorm, you've got it at uberpressure.
[Random_Nerd] Of course, I guess you could try to make his interior its own pocket dimension or something. But if I couldn't think of interesting possibilities for that, I'm not even trying...
[lazarus] Incidentally, guys, if you navigate to my wiki page NumbersDomainDiscussion, you can see the log of what RN and I worked out.
[Random_Nerd] Oh, and I nominate this flash animation as the mascot of the Nobilis game.
[Random_Nerd] http://www.platinumgrit.com/pokethebunny.htm
[Knockwood] Is it really warranted to be treating the Cams like Agents of Screwage, or should they just be Ferengi?
[JamesUrban] Is there a difference?
[Random_Nerd] Ferengi seems closer.
[Random_Nerd] They don't really have scruples, but they'll keep their word because if they didn't, they couldn't do business, and they don't have any disinterested desire to screw you over.
[Knockwood] James: Yeah, Ferengi means they're purely out for 'profit'.
[Random_Nerd] They just want money and power, and any corruption of people that happens as a result is just incidental.
[BethL] So I've been overly paranoid about them? Good to know.
[Knockwood] Hm... so presumably, somebody could go into debt with them and get a huge advantage over us?
[Knockwood] And they wouldn't "stay bought"?
[Random_Nerd] Hmm. Probably. Willingness to call in a lot of favors with them would provide a big short-term advantage.
[JamesUrban] They seem like the 'sell the guns to both sides' type folks though.
[Random_Nerd] Pretty much.
[Random_Nerd] And if both sides complained about that, they'd act all hurt and indignant at the idea that they'd be biased in favor of one side over the other, or refuse service to those who wanted to deal with them.
[Etheric] Well, the difference is that they have Immunity. So anyone can ignore Entropy's laws by working with or through them.
[Random_Nerd] That's their big advantage. If you want to break Entropy's laws, all you need to do is either hire them, or have them hire you.
[Knockwood] James, IC I'd argue in favor of letting them stay... for both the original reasons and the potential that we may need leverage on someone else.
[Knockwood] And what RN just said, as well.
[Random_Nerd] If somebody wants you dead, and calls in a favor with them to have the Power Of Killing Inconvenient People whack you, that Power will not be breaking Entropy's laws if he tries or succeeds in killing you.
[Random_Nerd] Now, you'll be entitled to kill him too, of course, once he makes the first move.
[BethL] You couldn't just ignore it as beneath you?
[Random_Nerd] In general, when the Power of Killing Inconvenient People is trying to kill you, ignoring him is not a good idea, Beth.
[BethL] (I am a weird and wacky person.)
[BethL] (And I wouldn't consider myself Inconvenient. *sniff*)
[Random_Nerd] But, for a for instance, in the Example of Play a Deceiver posing as a Noble hires them to hire what's-her-face with the abhorrent knife to use Kuttos to do a hit.
[JamesUrban] I don't know. I had the impression that they if they aren't officially in-chancel, they can't report you.
[JamesUrban] For chancel stuff. I mean don't the rules only apply to Earth?
[Random_Nerd] Chancels count as earth, officially.
[Random_Nerd] Now, Entropy tends to /ignore/ chancel stuff. Too much bother to keep track of.
[Random_Nerd] But it still falls under the laws, if it's an earthly chancel.
[Random_Nerd] Basically, if you get called on the carpet for something you did in-chancel, it either means Entropy has a personal grudge against you, or someone who has pull with him decided to tattle.
[JamesUrban] So my point stand. Mass death and destruction more likely to be overlooked without them poking around.
[BethL] But would they feel insulted enough at being asked to leave to take it personally and thus work against us?
[Knockwood] Beth: possibly.
[Random_Nerd] Work against you? What? The Cams pursue their /own/ agenda? Unheard of! Absurd!
[Random_Nerd] Maybe!
[BethL] Which means "Of Course!"
[lazarus] Actually, it means "If Necessary!"

[BethL] I still don't understand the Labrador image. The crows, yes, I get that. Then again, I didn't get all of the symbolism of Silicon Valley either.
[Random_Nerd] Well, notice that this yellow-flower seemed to have a different role than the previous one.
[Random_Nerd] Okay. What about the Cams' depiction did you guys like?
[Knockwood] Idea: Labs retrieve stuff, and search for stuff. Maybe he located us.
[BethL] Or it's their miracle storage unit/user person. The miracle scientist of the group.
[Knockwood] Well, it added depth to what was just a vaguely menacing group.
[BethL] I suspect that underhanded private GM knowledge was used at some point. Possibly. Then again, I'm completely transparent.
[Knockwood] Well, it was a Lab in a dress...
[Random_Nerd] In evening dress. In a suit.
[Random_Nerd] With ruffles!
[Knockwood] Someone dogging us, but 'dressed up' to look more acceptable.
[Random_Nerd] (All dogs should have ruffles.)
[Knockwood] Mythic would tell us if he was an alien or something, right?
[Random_Nerd] Not reliably.
[Random_Nerd] Mythic presents no more information than prosaic.
[BethL] Oh, I thought it was an actual evening dress. Slinky even.
[Random_Nerd] It just presents it /differently/.
[Random_Nerd] It's not Magic Truth-Sight.
[Random_Nerd] It's more "Okay, if I stick my head into another dimension and cross my eyes, how does it look?"
[Knockwood] "Goofy."
[Knockwood] "Oh, you mean to you..."
[Random_Nerd] By the way, what do you guys think of the way I handle the Mythic Earth in general?
[Knockwood] Suitably mysterious.
[BethL] You give a general mix of 'duh, of course' symbolism and right out there in the left field bleachers symbolism.
[Knockwood] Should have a legend in one corner.
[Random_Nerd] "Warning: Objects in mirror are more surreal than they appear."
[BethL] I thought you did well with the 'sympathetic, don't you _want_ us to help' pleas.
[Knockwood] The big, goofy meat shield thing's a little overdone, though.
[Etheric] I definitely liked their attitude. Well, not from an IC point of view, but from a point of view of appreciating the story.
[Knockwood] (Though I do wonder about the effect seeing ogres and nimblejacks would have on recently raised humans.... ]snort![)
[Random_Nerd] Hmm. Too much, with the ogres?
[Random_Nerd] (If it helps, for IC reasons they deliberately brought their silliest ogres.)
[BethL] The nimblejack movement description reminded me of Samara.
[Knockwood] What were the nimblejacks doing, BTW? They looked like monkeys.
[Random_Nerd] They were scampering around looking at things, like ADD insectmonkeys on amphetamines.
[BethL] I need to reread what nimblejacks are.
[Random_Nerd] There's next to no stuff on Nimblejacks in the book.
[Random_Nerd] They're small, they're quick, and Entropy's powers sometimes use them as hounds for the purpose of hunting Nobles.
[Knockwood] (Hey, did Sartin ever weigh in on Wraeththu?)
[Random_Nerd] (I don't think so.)
[Knockwood] (Brain explosion?)

[BethL] Huh. That can take over the explaining of how they found us. Then again, all they had to do was look for the most chaos and we'd either be there or show up.
[Knockwood] What's that old quote... "Signs of Chaos and Destruction? I think I know them!"
[BethL] Why am I seeing the Noble of Chaos and Destruction...as a small child. Possibly a little girl.
[lazarus] In a schoolgirl uniform?
[lazarus] With freaky eyes?
[BethL] Hmm...maybe with the eyes. The uniform isn't necessary. Just regular clothes can work. Maybe smudged knees, indicating that trouble has been afoot.
[lazarus] Creepy Little Girl archetype, go!
[Random_Nerd] Like the agent of Chaos in that one Sandman story?
[Random_Nerd] The little girl with the balloon?
[lazarus] And to make it more confusing, make her 1000 years old, to boot.
[BethL] RN - yeah a bit like Shivering Jemmy. Although something about her seems off for the picture in my head. I just can't get the words right for the picture in my head.
[BethL] Little kids just seem to be naturals as agents of chaos and destruction. It's their job.
[Random_Nerd] Little kids /are/ agents of chaos and destruction.
[BethL] Depends on what age. And yes, I've heard the stories about you as a kid. [G]
[Random_Nerd] Only a few of them.
[BethL] True, only a few of them. Your folks don't want me calling off the wedding. *grin*

[Knockwood] So... I might put together a Paranoia 'adventure' for my Tuesday group.
[lazarus] Giant mutant commie bunnies?
[Knockwood] Was thinking of something a little more down-to-earth...
[BethL] Giant mutant moles?

[Knockwood] But, of course, what would be the reaction of anyone who finds out he has Machine Empathy? Oh, and the Illuminati already know.
[Random_Nerd] The reaction would be about the same fate any Paranoia PC has.
[Random_Nerd] Death!
[Knockwood] Think Classic, not Zap.
[Random_Nerd] Wait, Paranoia without zapping? Heresy.
[Knockwood] No, with Zapping, it's just you have to have a reason.
[Random_Nerd] Isn't Machine Empathy the "kill on sight" mutation?
[Knockwood] Yes.
[Random_Nerd] Hence... zap.
[Knockwood] Not if it doesn't register as Machine Empathy. Remember, he thinks he's just really good with machines.

Chapter 6
