Chancel_Amyra
Chapter 7

BethE: So, where are we going in this Handbasket Spirit?
Knockwood: the base of the tree.
Etheric: Yikes.
BethE: Bring our own food, then. Don't want to end up like the Serpent.
Random_Nerd: Now, it looks like you guys have something of an agenda. How much GMly direction do you think your PCs will need for the next storyline?
lazarus: we have a Thought more than a Plan or Agenda right now
BethE: (We do?)
Etheric: I'm thinking GM clues with the PCs deciding how to navigate through them.
Knockwood: did we come close to deciding what to do?
Random_Nerd: Well, you have a goal in mind.
Etheric: And if I'm not mistaken. at least at one point we were thinking of trying to make the human spark thing the focus of the next storyline (not to imply it'll be resolved in one story).
Knockwood: weren't we going to have a party? :)
lazarus: oh yeah
BethE: *nod* Having it be an underliner for a bunch of stories, popping up front occasionally. And yes, a party was mentioned, way back.
Etheric: We had also mentioned the party thing a while back, yes.
Random_Nerd: That would help, really.
Random_Nerd: After all, it'd get you in contact with other Nobles.

  • Etheric nods.

Random_Nerd: The more of those you know, the more likely that someone can help you out.
Knockwood: I think we need to 'join' the Society of Flowers, just because it'll help us with all the other plots (in theory)
lazarus: it's party time, it sounds like.
BethE: *nod* And more Nobles mean more contacts. Oo, we can also look into the 'what happened to Luc's missing Nobles' thing too.
Etheric: Were we going to assume the soldier thing happened offscreen?
Etheric: Okay, I can go with this line.
Etheric: I assume no one will object if I inject a little of the human-spark investigation too, though?
BethE: Offscreen rescue of the soldiers, occasional on-screen reference? I have no objections, Etheric.  :)
lazarus: I figure that's what the party will be about :p
BethE: It's a smorgasbord of plotness.
Knockwood: OBTW, I 'won' that Name-My-Villain thread, and was thinking of having the guy draw Dante
BethE: Oooo!
lazarus: awesome
Random_Nerd: Hmm. If you want to have the soldiers rescued offscreen, you might want to at least send some NPC minions to handle it.
lazarus: I was looking through Storn Cook's thread the other day, and going "I wish I had 12 * 45$ ..." as I wanted the Nobles drawn, and the characters from the L5R game I'm in
Random_Nerd: It's been brought up enough times that just saying "In between episodes, the PCs do this" seems a bit odd.
BethE: Hmm...William has the right feeling of authority.
Knockwood: you want to make a session about finding the soldiers?
Random_Nerd: Or you could just pick some guys to do it, give them some money, and tell them to call if they need help.
lazarus: we send Ick and Lesson?  :-P (no, not really)
Knockwood: how would they spot them?
Random_Nerd: How about this. You guys come up with a plan. You execute the plan. I tell you what happens.
Random_Nerd: Alternatively, I can decapitate you all and drink wine from your skulls.
Etheric: Okayy... Cut to conference room?
BethE: Okay.
Random_Nerd: ____START______

  • Theresa fiddles with a pen on the conference room table.

DanteE: "What do the schools say is the name of the new moon, by the way?"
Theresa: (Do we know how many soldiers are missing?)
Random_Nerd: (Two dozen or so. I don't believe a specific number was mentioned.)
Theresa: "A popular movement is letting the schoolchildren name it. Current polls have 'Cheese' or "Green' in the lead at the moment."
Theresa: (Okay. So we know that if we come up with a number less than that from Mexico City, we have to go fishing again.)
Theresa: "There's just so much to fix here at home...I'm not sure I want to leave the Chancel right now. But we need to get those soldiers home."
DanteE: "We could ask the generals."
Theresa: (Ask the generals what? How many there are?)
DanteE: (Yep.)
Theresa: (Ahh.)

  • Carrie taps her nails against the conference table idly. "Perhaps the cleanest way would be to provide the military with information on the wherebouts of the soldiers and how to get to them, and let them handle it."

Theresa: "Are the regulars of the Chancel allowed to leave under normal circumstances?"
Random_Nerd: (Allowed by who?)
Theresa: (The borders of the Chancel. Oh, wait...Wild Lord. Hmm. )
Random_Nerd: (They're /able/ to do so, but they don't know how to do so and get where they want. Hence the soldiers' problem.)
Theresa: (Ahh.)
Brian: "Would be a good idea ... except, if we send military out to find them, then how would Mexico know they're not invading them? ... better to send along someone of a non-military bent. Politicians?"
Random_Nerd: (Also, it's freaky concrete jungle out beyond the borders. Most people don't /want/ to try to go through that stuff.)
Theresa: "Maybe with William or Samuel in charge of the group? They know ebnough about both worlds and the changes from our being enChanceled to take someone out and back again."
DanteE: "... I think there are only two real possibilities: our aides, or us."
Random_Nerd: (Lesson or another anchor could probably manage it, too.)
Brian: "Frankly, I'm not sure we need to go, ourselves. I nominate our aides and a delegation"
DanteE: "William, Samuel, do you think you could find and return the lost Amyran soldiers?"
Theresa: "With what kind of cover story? 'Sorry, misplaced our legion, won't happen again'?"
Random_Nerd: William: "From what you know, they're in Mexico City in an unspecified situation?"
DanteE: "Well, a contingent of them are..."
Theresa: 'Yes. An indeterminate number of Amyrans are being held or are just there."
DanteE: "... according to Fortean Times, anyway."
Random_Nerd: William: "Can we have access to a large but finite amount of money, and a number of large humans who know how to wear suits well?"
Theresa: "Wear suits well in a military fashion, bureaucratic fashion or gangster fashion?"
DanteE: "... call the military for the latter?"
Random_Nerd: William waves a hand in the air.
Random_Nerd: "Is there a meaningful difference?"

  • Theresa grins. "Well, with some of those, a fedora is often involved. But they shouldn't be hard to find."
  • Carrie does a Realm divination to find the most suitable in-Chancel organization for William's purposes.

Random_Nerd: William: "In my experience, there's very little that you can't handle in a large city, if you have enough money and people aren't quite sure if you're a rich eccentric or a member of organized crime."
Theresa: *nods* "True."
Random_Nerd: (Favoring civil organizations or civilian-run ones?)
Carrie: (Probably civilian, but if there's a military one that can do the job meaningfully better, it's not excluded.)
Random_Nerd: (There're government agencies that have people meeting such a description, private security companies, and actual criminal groups.)

  • DanteE does a realm div of the best tailor/haberdasher in town

Random_Nerd: (Interestingly, the Bureau of Monstrosities shows up as a marginal option to the divination.)
Theresa: (Lesson's suit is just that good.)
Brian: (it's all in the fedora)

  • Carrie brings up pictures of the various organizations on the viewscreen via Ghost Miracle, leaving off Lesson's bureau.

DanteE: (and the prospect of getting eaten has interesting uses)
Theresa: (No DA on mine, please.  :) )
Random_Nerd: (Okay, top three are whatever the Amyran equivalent to the FBI is called, the Round Table Security Company, and a small Amyran branch of the mafia.)
Random_Nerd: (Oh, and the Camorra.)
Random_Nerd: (Can't forget them.)

  • Carrie DEFINITELY does not bring the Cammora up on the screen.

DanteE: (OK, going by the old players' maxim that named==important, tell us about Round Table.)
Random_Nerd: (It's not so much that, as that I'd rather not name major government agencies in your chancel, as that's your job, but there's no problem with me naming companies, as I see it.)
DanteE: (ah.)
Random_Nerd: (I can come up with more details on the others if you want, but I'd rather leave that to you.)
Random_Nerd: (For that matter, if any of you wants to mention a group, feel free to fiat it into existence.)
DanteE: "The Knight-Investigators would be most on our side, so to speak."
Carrie: (That's the FBI equivalent?)
DanteE: (if you like it)
Theresa: (Let's send the security company. Giving the military an opportunity to explore outside doesn't sound good. Ditto with the mafia.)
Theresa: (Or the FBI equiv. Good name.)
Random_Nerd: (Indeed. Better than I would have done as a spur of the moment decision.)
Theresa: "Why would they be on our side? A good part of the city was just squished."
DanteE: "Not like anyone was _hurt_. :)
Random_Nerd: (They got better!)
Theresa: "I know, just a small case of the temporarily dead."
DanteE: (Yeah, not like they got turned into a newt)
Carrie: (Another lesser divination -- given usual speed of government channels would the private company actually be meaningfully quicker?)
Random_Nerd: (Yes, unless you really made a big deal with the government over it.)
Random_Nerd: (If you yelled through the phone at the Prime Minister, and turned his desk into a tiger and refused to turn it back until you got those guys there, you'd manage it.)
DanteE: "Either way, we should do it quickly before things get worse.
Random_Nerd: (But the private security folks could be gotten there fast just by promising them lots of money.)
Theresa: (Would the PM go all DA, though?)
DanteE: "Brian, can you put together some magic credit cards?
Carrie: "The Knight-Investigators are very reputable and competent, but somewhat mired in bureaucracy. I suggest..."
DanteE: (no more than usual)
Brian: "Sure, I could get the cash"

  • Carrie cuts to the Round Table company on the screen.

Random_Nerd: (Well, under Entropy's laws, it'd probably fall under the "Don't take any lip from the primates" law, and so be okay.)
Theresa: (E issa D)
Random_Nerd: W: "If you wish, I can requisition support for myself."
DanteE: (Theresa: huh?)
Theresa: (Entropy is a Dick.  :) )
DanteE: (ah yeah)
Random_Nerd: (Entr___ i_ a di_k)
Theresa: *to William* "Inside the Chancel or from your agency?"
DanteE: (Entreat in a disk? We should word-process a plea to them and deliver it on a floppy?)
DanteE: ( :) )
Random_Nerd: W: "I believe I could find local support, again given the aforementioned access to non-negligible amounts of money."

  • Theresa nods.

Random_Nerd: W: "Oh, and one thing that may be of assistance later, if you could give my associate and myself some sort of token to indicate to the people of this chancel that we are in your direct employ."
DanteE: "No need... it's our Chancel, it's our problem."
Carrie: "Samuel, while William handles the details, I would like you to work on creating a more efficient network of local contacts to handle tasks for us. We should not have to take so much time discussing sauch mundane matters again."
Carrie: (Would a Lesser Creation of Symbol-Recognition do it?)
Random_Nerd: Samuel: "Okay, I'll start on that. Do you prefer that I wear the disguise you made me, or can I do it in my usual attire?"
Random_Nerd: (Yep.)
Random_Nerd: (Wait, no.)
Random_Nerd: (Realm Creations must be concrete.)
Random_Nerd: (Abstract ones take Changes.)
Brian: (LC of recognizable symbol?)
Carrie: (Oh, keep forgetting that.)
Theresa: (For our symbol that everyone would recognize, how about the national symbol for Amyra on a background of a kudzu leaf?)
DanteE: (You'd need to tell people what it means...)
Carrie: (I'll handle that part.)
Brian: (... what would it take to create a symbol that someone thinks is the correct symbol?)
Carrie: (MPs are meant to be spent after all. *sighs*)
Random_Nerd: (Either a change, or a television broadcast.)
Random_Nerd: (Broadcast.)
Carrie: (Well, yes, but a TV broadcast is so, well, MUNDANE!)
Random_Nerd: (Such can be handled mundanely, without any MPs.)
DanteE: (What's the level of a LChange?)
Random_Nerd: (6.)
Random_Nerd: (Really, since Brian's got the Beloved property, he could just go on TV and say "Anyone wearing this badge here works for us, so don't mess with him" and people'd obey.)
Brian: (*sigh* ... Carrie, you create Hope in all the populace that they see a tv programme showing off the new Symbol of the Nobilis, and I'll make the tv show appear on all channels at the correct time :-P)
DanteE: (OK... tell me, would showing people a changing/mutating object we created cause DA?)
Carrie: (No, it wouldn't cause DA because it would have already changed, and consider the coolness factor of creating a sigil that someone recognizes on sight without knowing anything about it before!)
DanteE: (Maybe a badge-like thing that cycles through our sigils/images and that of Amyra? :)
Random_Nerd: (Changing and mutating as they watch? It wouldn't make them gibber in the corner, but it'd be unsettling.)
Random_Nerd: (Wouldn't wreck their perception, though.)
Carrie: (Oh, I get what you mean.)
DanteE: (and be impossible to counterfeit)
Carrie: (..Wait, didn't William make a heraldic symbol for the Familia?)
Theresa: (Yep, one for the whole group.)
DanteE: (he did?)
Carrie: (Okay.)
Theresa: (I thought so, a banner with everyone on it.)
Random_Nerd: (I recall him making one for each of you... was there a banner with all your sigils on it?)
Brian: (I recall talking about that.)
Random_Nerd: (Okay, good.)
Random_Nerd: (Each of your pairs of flowers on the background of the Wyld, right?)
Random_Nerd: (err, Wild.)
Random_Nerd: (Too much Exalted on the brain.)
DanteE: (The only one here who could make one without straining themselves is Brian)
Brian: (make what?)
DanteE: (a changing badge)
Brian: (um, doesn't Carrie also have Realm 2? It would need to be done through Realm)
Theresa: (Why wouldn't he strain himself?)
DanteE: (cuz you need a level 6 miracle and he's the only one with Realm 2)
Random_Nerd: Samuel goes out to start making contacts.
DanteE: "Let us know if you need help, Samuel."

  • Carrie performs a Lesser Change with included Creation, to create a machine in the corner of the room which makes badges that have the following properties: Anyone in the Chancel will recognize them as carrying our authority, and they crumble to dust if anyone who doesn't work for us attempts to use them.

Theresa: (If Carrie and Brian worked together on the miracle, would that make the miracle easier?)
Random_Nerd: He nods his head-area.
Carrie: (4 RMPs for a Lesser Change.)
Random_Nerd: (Mmm... yeah, you can do that. What do the badges look like?)
Brian: (Nobilis provides another view on the "Dad... that's pink" commercial. "Excuse me while I make a small alteration to the colouring of this shirt...")
Carrie: (A miniature version of the banner with all of our sigils, basicaly, likely a bit more stylized though.)
Random_Nerd: (Now, since the miracle is to make the machine rather than the badges themselves, the badges will have magical properties but not actually have miraculous force behind them.)
Random_Nerd: (A sufficiently clever mad scientist or practical magician could probably reverse-engineer them, if he had several to work with and some time to kill.)
Random_Nerd: (They're as rare as hens' teeth in Amyra, though.)
Random_Nerd: The machine spits out a few badges.
Brian: (that's fine, I think)
Random_Nerd: (Does one of you hand one to Samuel as he goes out?)
DanteE: (Actually, I just thought of something... what if they take them to Earth, and show them to someone there?)
Theresa: (Good possible plot thread.)

  • Carrie hands one to William and Samuel.

Carrie: (As written they don't convey authority to anyone not of the Chancel.)
Random_Nerd: William pins the badge on himself.
Random_Nerd: (We'll have Sam retroactively leave thirty seconds later and wear a badge too, agreed?)
Theresa: (Yep.)
Carrie: (Agreed.)
Brian: (agreed)
Random_Nerd: Samuel pins it on his relatively static chest-area, nods, and walks out to do his job.
Carrie: "Now that that's taken care of... I want to see what I can find out regarding the mission entrusted to us by milord Kudzu."
Theresa: "Hmm, we should ship a bunch to the Bureau and to your parents, Carrie."
Random_Nerd: (Has Brian given William an unlimited credit card yet?)
Carrie: "All in good time."
Brian: (uh, not limited. Just very very large number)
Random_Nerd: (Well, that works too.)
Theresa: "The stuff about humanity and becoming Imperators?"
DanteE: "Ah... let's wait until w4e give the Bureau a specific mission.
Random_Nerd: W: "Shall I go out and handle the problem, now?"
Carrie: "Please do."
DanteE: "I wonder about what Lesson would do with too much authority..."
Random_Nerd: (If memory serves, hadn't you decided to have the Bureau handle the issue of monsterified people?)
Random_Nerd: (I'm not sure he'd understand the idea of "too much authority.")
Carrie: "The badges don't compel anyone, they simply impart the knowledge that the bearer speaks for us."
DanteE: "That is authority."
Random_Nerd: (While he doesn't actually follow the Code of Hell, it's still part of his cultural assumptions, so to speak, that power justifies itself.)
Random_Nerd: (Right now, you guys are more powerful than him, and you seem to treat him fairly well. So he works for you, and doesn't try to rebell against you, but does try to become as important in your service as he can.)
Carrie: "We can discuss the implications some other time. I for one am restless to see what my Estate might reveal regarding the hope Humanity once had."
DanteE: (BTW, the details on the guy doing the drawing are at (Link: http://tensen01.deviantart.com/journal/7287874)http://tensen01.deviantart.com/journal/7287874 ... consider maybe kicking in a few bucks and having him draw all of us? :)
Theresa: (I'll think about it, Knock. Hmm...)
Carrie: (Hmm, maybe after I get paid.)
Random_Nerd: (So, he's ambitious in a sense, but sees his rivals as being the Aides, the Cams, and so on, rather than you guys.)
Brian: (same. Don't recognize the name, but do recognize the style)

  • Theresa thinks amoment. "How much detail or what focus will you look at, Carrie?"

Random_Nerd: William goes out as well.
Carrie: "Specifically, I wish to see what can be learned about how the hope that once was can be restored."
DanteE: "We sort of owe it to the Society of Flowers to introduce ourselves, first."

  • Theresa nods in thought.

Theresa: (to Carrie)

  • Carrie , well, doesn't quite *glare* at Dante, but she looks at him rather sternly. "There will always be more to do before this or that. If you will allow me to concentrate, I will see what can be determined. Then the next move is ours."
  • Carrie closes her eyes and focuses her mind on her question, letting her thoughts filter through to the soul-shard within. Then she opens her mind and awaits the response. (RN, Greater Div along the lines I described to you privately.)

Random_Nerd: (One moment, I need to check a minor detail first...)
Carrie: (Of course.)
Random_Nerd: A shimmering, glowing tree springs up from the table.
Random_Nerd: It shimmers brightly in several places.
Brian: "How beautifully cryptic..."
DanteE: (I swear, if you scratch the table I made... :)
Random_Nerd: The branches glimmer red. The interior of a knothole writhes with green shapes...
Random_Nerd: Tiny specks, here and there, glow a bluish tint.
Random_Nerd: And a wall of fire springs up around the tree.
Random_Nerd: Now, two other places of light are starting to glow.

  • Carrie sees all this clearly in her mind, although her eyes are now slitted, her pupils rolled back into her head...

Random_Nerd: Midway up the tree, at roughly equal levels, two spots are increasingly bright.

  • DanteE examines the spots.

Random_Nerd: Spots appear on almost all of the branches, but not by the roots or the very top.
Random_Nerd: Writhing shapes from the heart of the tree spread out, and two of them go to the two new glowing places.
Random_Nerd: Then, for a moment, the outline of an angel springs up around everything, and shatters to shards of light.
Brian: "... history?"
Random_Nerd: Half the light of the upper branches diminishes, replaced by a smoky red glow at the roots.
Random_Nerd: The two new glows each shatter at the same moment, separating into two different colors.
Random_Nerd: In one, white and black.
Random_Nerd: In the other, blue-green and purple.
Random_Nerd: Now, everything, tree and lights, swirls up into a central point again.
Random_Nerd: This spreads out into the image of a featureless white figure overlooking a city.
Random_Nerd: It folds up into a full moon, which then has a red handprint stamped over it.
Random_Nerd: A regal-looking woman appears, and then falls, a gleaming knife in her back.
Random_Nerd: Two serpents writhe across each other, and below them tormented shapes contend against each other.
Random_Nerd: Everything goes dark for a moment.
Random_Nerd: Then, two more shapes appear. One is a crystal with cracks in it.
Random_Nerd: On the left side, they're healing, but the right side is cracking more, and dust is falling off it.
Random_Nerd: The other side is an apple with two bites from it.
Random_Nerd: Then, the crystal and the apple move towards each other, and merge with a bright explosion of light.
Random_Nerd: A flaming bird rises up, and then crumbles to ash.
Random_Nerd: Then, everything stops, leaving only a few traces of ashes on the table.
Brian: ("This is what happens when Nobles take LSD ...")
Theresa: (But it does make sense...)
Random_Nerd: (It does?)

  • Theresa mutters that history should come with _subtitles_.

Brian: (There's some parts I don't understand. Mostly it does make sense)
Random_Nerd: (And yes, everything in there meant something.)
DanteE: (hm... does that mean the Light and Dominating are the same?)
Random_Nerd: (None of those images were arbitrary.)

  • Carrie slowly comes awake again.

Carrie: "Did... Did you all see that too? I had the sense of others watching..."
Brian: "... mind telling us what that meant?"
DanteE: ("Nice one. Now can you explain Lost?" :)
Theresa: (*laugh*)
Random_Nerd: (The polar bear is actually a ninja.)
Brian: (I've never seen Lost. :()
Theresa: "We saw it but...did you get subtitles? A program?"
Brian: "Some cool voice-over by James Earl Jones?"
Brian: ('cause, of course, he SHOULD narrate the History of Nobilis)
Carrie: I saw images, like in a dream... But much more vivid. Echoing from my soul-shard. The meaning... That I can only guess at, though I believe I have some vague idea..
Random_Nerd: (Oh, man, I forgot an image. Can I retroactively splice something in?)
Brian: (go ahead, but it's more work for Beth when she puts it together for RPGNet :-P)
DanteE: (or barbermoose)
Carrie: (Sure, put it in.)
Random_Nerd: (Right before the woman with the knife in her back, stars falling from the sky and dissolving to something smoky, and a sound like ice cracking.)
Theresa: (Oooo, we have sound.)
Theresa: (I swear the GM is not on anything at the moment. Bravo, RN.  :) )
Theresa: "It looked like a history to me. Of ...everything."
Brian: "Possibly also future... what was and what will be?"
DanteE: "from a Noble point of view."
Brian: "What did you look for?"
Carrie: "The Fall. It was the story of the Fall. On Earth, on Simon's world, and in Heaven."
Random_Nerd: (Samuel, you mean?)
Carrie: "And then... How it might be undone. That part was less clear, but there are clues, certainly."
Carrie: (Samuel, yes. Sorry.)
Brian: (no. Simon. We invented him when you weren't looking. Sorry.)
Brian: (:-P)
DanteE: (yeah, Simon's the one saying that was the worst consensual hallucination he's ever seen and you should not advance to the next round.)
Theresa: "This project is like one of those little origami boxes that fit in the palm of your hand and when you open it, the whole thing spreads out to football field size."
Brian: (quiz question: "football" in Amyra... soccer or american football?)
Random_Nerd: (Soccer, likely.)
Carrie: (I would guess it'd be soccer.)
DanteE: (yeah, soccer)
Brian: (that's my guess, as well)
Random_Nerd: (Amyran's more like Europe than America, I'd say.)
Theresa: (Forgive me.)
Carrie: (Rugby field?  :)
Brian: (a soccer field is large, as well)
Theresa: (*grin*)
DanteE: (what fer? It's soccer field size.)
Theresa: (Okay, okay, 'really really big place' then.)
Random_Nerd: (The analogy still works.)
DanteE: "Did that one part imply a connection--or potential connection--between the Light and Domination, though?"
Random_Nerd: (They have things in Amyra called "football fields" and they are big.)
Theresa: "Possibly. I thought that was Entropy's handprint on the moon."
Brian: "Bloody hand? Who else would it be?"

  • Carrie nods thoughtfully..

Random_Nerd: (Lady Macbeth!)
Brian: (out out damn spot!)
DanteE: (was there an implied connection between the handprint and the knife in the lady's back?)
Random_Nerd: (Oh, and one other slight change. Substitute "contact" for "merge" with the apple and the crystal touching.)
Brian: (act V of Macbeth was a cop-out...)
Random_Nerd: (Sorry for the retcons, but that's a /complicated/ vision.)
Carrie: (...That's a rather significant change. But thanks.)
DanteE: (fair enough)
Theresa: (I don't think we saw blood on the knife. Has Entropy's hands always bled or just when he became Overlord of Earth?)
DanteE: "...you see where I got that idea, right? I'm guessing the intact crystal is Domination and the apple is Light"
Random_Nerd: (Well, there was blood on the knife. She'd just been stabbed with it.)
Carrie: (...That's a rather significant change. But thanks.)
Carrie: (Mistype.)
Carrie: "The crystal and apple are both, I thought."
Theresa: (I meant on the handle as opposed to the sharp stabby bit.)
DanteE: "Well, you had the intact crystal and the disintegrating crystal...
Carrie: "The Light and Dark were both born from an apple, and the crystal was both healing and splintering."
Random_Nerd: (Not a bloody handprint, at least.)
DanteE: "which I thought implied Domination and Splintering separately.
Carrie: (Well, after the retcon the moon thing and the lady weren't next to each other anymore.)
Theresa: "Hmm...I was thinking that the crystal are the Dionyl and the apple is, well...humans."
DanteE: "Right. There were two crystals, remember."
Brian: "Wasn't there mention about the Dionyl kinda splitting in half about the Imperial Spark thing?"
Random_Nerd: (One crystal, one apple.)
DanteE: (oh, two halves of one crystal, OK.)
Random_Nerd: (Aarrgh. Another mistake. Should be "the other /shape/ is an apple" and not "the other /side/ is an apple")
Brian: (that's what I figured you meant)
Carrie: ( *nods* Don't stress over it. This was quite a performance.)
DanteE: "Wait... that would mean we have to take the two splits of the two worlds and bring them together?"
Carrie: It could mean many things...
Carrie: "Either the humans and Dionyl must solve their problems together..."
Carrie: "Or the Imperators created by the divine sparks of the two worlds must interact..."
Carrie: "Or they must merge."
Carrie: "I do not know the true meaning but I imagine it will become clear in time."
DanteE: "Sennescharib and .... whoever did that for Dionyl?"
Carrie: "The Imperators I speak of are the Lords of the Light and Dark, of Splintering and Domination."
Random_Nerd: (Not Sennescharib, Manaechus, was the serpent.)
Random_Nerd: (Or did you mean something else?)
DanteE: (but Sen was created by the split itself, right?)
Carrie: (Moment.)
DanteE: (oh, wait, different split)
Random_Nerd: (He was created by the Mythic/Prosaic split, not the Fall.)
Theresa: "Hmm..maybe we should ask the Library about what happened to the Dionyl? Or would it know that?"
DanteE: "Ought to, unless Kudzu is keeping more secrets."
Theresa: (The thing is, the Wildlords came in _after_ the Fall. He might not even know.)
DanteE: (Wait... was that a GDiv of Hope?_
Random_Nerd: (Yep.)
Brian: (wow)
DanteE: (then, if Kudzu came in after the Fall, how could the div have shown the Fall?)
Random_Nerd: (Remember, the Estates of Wildlords often manifest before they themselves do.)
Random_Nerd: (I'm looking up the reference for that, but it's in the book.)
Carrie: (The section on Wildlords in the Imperators chapter, I think.)
Random_Nerd: (Oh, yes.)
DanteE: (which means you saw pre-Kudzu proto-Hope. :)
Random_Nerd: (Now, Kudzu /existed/ then...)
Carrie: (Maybe.)
Random_Nerd: (But he was on the other side of the Weirding Wall.)
Carrie: (Ah.)
Brian: (that fiery thing?)
Theresa: (With protoplants-popcorn.)
DanteE: (... does that mean a similar GDiv could spot him and thereby get a glimpse of what's beyond the Wall? :)
Random_Nerd: (You can try...)
Random_Nerd: (But remember that Light attempts to explore outside of the Wall have killed several Imperators.)
Random_Nerd: (And wounded even the survivors. If it was easy, that wouldn't be the case.)
Theresa: (Nice Warning Label on that...)
Random_Nerd: (Really, to find out that stuff, you need to tinker around with High Summonings.)
Random_Nerd: (Or go outside and look!)
Carrie: (Hmm. Do people want to brek here? I'm getting kind of tired.)
Brian: (fine with me)
DanteE: (OK.)
Random_Nerd: (Hmm. Could we break here, but have a bit of time where you guys tell me what you thought of how the vision went?)
Brian: (sure)
Carrie: (OOC? Sure.)
Random_Nerd: (Yeah, I'm curious what you as players thought.)
Random_Nerd: (Stop here?)
DanteE: (sure.)
Theresa: (SOunds good to me.)
Random_Nerd: _______________STOP__________________

      • Brian is now known as lazarus.
      • You are now known as BethE.
      • DanteE is now known as Knockwood.

BethE: *lots of clapping for the montage*
Knockwood: Looked great RN
Random_Nerd: Any criticisms?
Random_Nerd: I know that I had a few things I miswrote, and I apologize for that.
lazarus: that's not a problem RN
Random_Nerd: While I'd plotted it out, I was typing it from memory and trying to do so quickly, and I made a few mistakes in doing so.
Carrie: I'd say it's too obvious, but I have a feeling it's not as obvious as I think it is.  ;)

      • Carrie is now known as Etheric.

Random_Nerd: Okay, what's the obvious meaning?
lazarus: I say "looks like it would be obvious, if I actually finished the book"
Random_Nerd: Finished the book?
BethE: Oh, the timeline at the back?
lazarus: reading it, of course.
lazarus: I didn't get to the latter bits in the book
Knockwood: one of the Appendices is a timeline
Etheric: Well, my first thought of the obvious meaning was that the Magisters of the Light and Dark, Splintering and Domination needed to merge. But then you said touched instead of merged, and I wasless sure of that.
Knockwood: come to think of it, was there any indication of the Lost Years?
Etheric: LOst Years come much, much later than the Fall.
BethE: Imperator Cagematch? Two Types enter, One Type Leaves?
Etheric: <.<
BethE: Nah, Lost 500 are of _this_ age.
lazarus: I suspect that it indicates co-operation has to happen
Etheric: Just intuition, but I have a feeling that the triumph of either the Light or the Dark totally would preclude the rebirth of humanity as divine.
Etheric: Both sides are needed.
lazarus: that would seem to match.
Etheric: Likewise for Splintering and Domination.
Knockwood: hm... how would S&D reconciling help humanity, tho?
BethE: I would want more info on the Dionyl stuff.
Etheric: Kudzu also wanted us to help the Dionyl.
lazarus: kw: not necessarily reconciling, but needing to do something together
Etheric: And the vision implied they're one and the same problem.
Knockwood: unless... humanity and Dionyl are linked
Etheric: End is clear -- the problem must be solved when the Age ends.
Etheric: So we have a deadline.
Knockwood: Got it! Dionyl are actually humanity's lost socks! :D
lazarus: or, the age ends when the problem is solved?
Etheric: Could be, laz.
Etheric: Time's somewhat fluid in Nobilis.
lazarus: ha! Better joke than I was going to make, kw.
Etheric: But I have a feeling this is by no means destined or certain.
BethE: Hmm, so we have five or less years or so...
Etheric: From what Kudzu said, and from what I'd expect.
Knockwood: and that artist I mentioned just wrote me back... we could negotiate a price for a drawing of all of us. :)
lazarus: cool!
lazarus: how much to also include the clock-tower as a backdrop? (I suspect it would shoot up the price lots :()
Knockwood: good question...
Knockwood: oh, the one I won is 'single character, basic' which is $10, and the price sheet says $2 per additional char for basic
BethE: Huh.
Random_Nerd: Okay, I've sent a PM to the person I /think/ is our new James.
Random_Nerd: We'll see.
lazarus: (Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGQEAiZJMco&search=grundy%20want%20pants%20too)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGQEAiZJMco&search=grundy%20want%20pants%20too
Random_Nerd: Oh, one question.
BethE: I liked this session. The montage was the best part but it was a good session all around. And yes, I giggled a little when Carrie glared at Dante.
Random_Nerd: All the game-specific stuff I've come up with on the Dionyl, their fall, and their imperators... does that make sense?
lazarus: seems to so far

      • Knockwood has signed off IRC (Ping timeout).

BethE: I think so. But then again, I'm a little fuzzy what all the info we have received so far is.
Random_Nerd: You, or your PCs?
BethE: Both. ALthough I know I need to reread the section on them in the White Book. (*confused* There _is_ a section on them, right? Not my misunderstanding?)

      • Knockwood has joined #nobilis.

Knockwood: That was odd...
Knockwood: what's the last thing you saw from me?
Random_Nerd: They're mentioned briefly in it. I'll show you the page.
BethE: Knockwood: oh, the one I won is 'single character, basic' which is $10, and the price sheet says $2 per additional char for basic
BethE: And welcome back, Knock.
Random_Nerd: Oh, and before I go, the question...
Random_Nerd: What did you guys like least about my GMing this session?
BethE: *thinks*
lazarus: I think I would have to say the retcons, but they really didn't bother me.
BethE: Lack of vision subtitles. No, actually I don't have any complaints. I thought we were a little slow at the beginning, but that's a group thing, not a GM thing.
Knockwood: the dithering we did at the beginning, about who to send after the soldiers, what to give them...
Etheric: I'd agree with Knock that the arguing about what to do was the least pleasant part of it.
Knockwood: on the other hand, I liked Carrie's solution.
Random_Nerd: Ah, demonboxing.
Etheric: Demonboxing?
BethE: From one of our first couple of sessions. Moving the demon inna box.
lazarus: how long's the game been going on? A year and a half yet?
Random_Nerd: Still, I hope that having subordinates with useful contacts will help with some of that stuff.
Random_Nerd: Me too.
Random_Nerd: A bit over a year, I think.
lazarus: g'night guys
Etheric: Since last March, right? So 15 months.
