Satsuki is a geek, there’s no questioning that. However, you couldn’t have known she is a computer geek by the first glance. Or the second. Or the third. In fact, unless you actually work with her, you will always think she is a history geek. She wears clothes that are top fashion – back in the 60’s, maybe. She drives a Volkswagen Beetle. She is always holding an old-seeming history encyclopedia. Heck, she checks time with a pocket watch. In the technologically advanced Neotokyo, this is probably the only girl you can confidently declares “she knows nothing about computers”. Right?

…Nope, not at all. Not only does Satsuki know computer, she knows them well. She can play traffic lights like they are Christmas decorations. She can create common electronics, given enough time and material. She is not the best hacker in Neotokyo, but she is definitely one of the best, and is well respected inside the fairly challenge-happy hacker community. She is also a devoted follower of the Hacker’s Manifesto, which means she believe any knowledge should be free to the public. Really, this her intention behind it all – what? The 1 million dollars from the lawyer’s bank account? Not like he needs it anyway…

Her laptop is customized in both software and hardware. Due to her paranoid personality, she made the laptop looks like a big, old and worthless encyclopedia, to prevent her (mostly imagined) enemies from recognize it (Alternate Identity). It’s a little bigger than usual laptop, because it has density-enhanced plastic shell (Armor) and a secret pocket for store her electronic tools. It contains many programs she wrote, which grant fast and easy (and illegal) access to other computers (Computer Scanning). It also has a customized firewall, anti-virus and other security measures, which is much better than anything normal people can purchase (Mind Shield).

She can create common electronics, and electronics only. She has basic mechanic knowledge to build simple mechanism like switch or shell, but that’s all. She can’t create big things like TV, because anything bigger than a DVD player would probably have mechanical parts too complex for her to handle. She can’t create weapons, since even the most advanced weapon is at least half mechanical, which is way out of her league.

[-1] Paranoid Anything with an internet connection can be hacked by someone. Hack, everything with an internet could have been hacked by someone. Satsuki doesn’t trust any technology that wasn’t built by herself. She wouldn’t use other people’s computer, unless you give her an hour to run her set of anti-virus anti-Trojan and anti-worm programs first. She prefer older car than newer ones, because newer cars have build-in mechanism allow them to be shot down remotely. In a certain sense, one of the best hacker in Neotokyo has techno phobia.
