Description[edit]

  • Family: Eshmaki.
  • Hunger: Nemesis. His horror has a taste for offenses the individual believes they have gotten away with, or are getting away with..
  • Horror: The Shadow-Man is an inchoate and formless humanoid. It's a pitch-black shadow, except for a blurry, white, face, with empty black pits for eyes, staring out from under a dark hood.
  • Concept: Ambitious Youth. He's a senior in HS, but precocious and self-possessed. What drives him personally is excellence. Not fame, recognition among his kind, or power, but to be the best servant of the Dark Mother that he can be.
  • Appearance: Looks and talks a bit like Szasz in the Gotham TV series. He's pale, enunciates, and is fastidious about his appearance, clothing, and choice of words. Really listens and looks at you when you're talking.
  • Personality: A busy little bee. Precise, detail-oriented, and organized. Always doing something, studying something, building something. Genuine in his friendships, and loves to help people. This can be dissonant, since he'll help an elderly traveler change a flat tire and refuse any offer of recompense, then go take someone else's face off with a disk sander, and whistle the same happy tune through both encounters.
  • Background: Currently 17, attending Benjamin Franklin High School, and living at home with well-off parents. Younger siblings are favored, because he is a little off-putting or wrong-seeming, and always has been. Devouring was a huge relief, because it allowed him to make sense of a lot of things. Doesn't hold it against his parents that they basically don't love him, and is protective of sister who is 1-2 years junior to him. Identifies strongly with his horror and is really a True Believer in the whole thing. Family trouble is a possible plot hook.
  • Legend: Watchful. (Regain a point of willpower if you make a character who thinks they are alone realize they are NOT alone, without revealing yourself. Regain all willpower if they find you despite your best efforts to remain unseen.)
  • Life: Cautious. (Regain a point of willpower if you dodge a bullet via prudent behavior. Regain all willpower if your caution urges you to do unto others before they do unto you.)
  • Aspirations:
    • Establish a second chamber for your lair.
    • Mess with a mortal transgressor in their own home.
    • Give a presentation to a mixed group of Beasts & Kin on why being trapped in NOLA is a bad idea..
  • Additional Notes: There's no real mechanic for being socially awkward, since flaws as such don't exist in nWoD. However, I figure voluntarily dramatic failures on social rolls will produce this effect. Simon is motivated to establish as chambers a high school (possibly the one he goes to) and a carnival or fair of some kind (ferris wheel, food carts & game booths, funhouse, all that stuff.) He wants his horror to become an urban legend, something people believe in and fear. Thus, he likes to go after people for serious offenses rather than trivial ones. He lives in a converted attic bedroom with its own fire-escape exit. His parents basically put him as far away from the center of his family life as it was possible to do without actually making him live in the back yard. He likes the space and the quiet.
