Background[edit]

Sivus was working the monotonous life of a corner boutique servant, supplying those who came in with small everyday luxuries: lho-sticks, spendthrift dreadfuls, newslates, recaf, and other trinkets. A pict-screen mounted on the corner of the building opposite caught his attention, and he stiffened. Mechanically, he stooped, opened a hidden compartment under the counter and pulled out a wooden box about half a metre long, tucked it under his arm, and left the premises. He didn't look back.

When he regained some of his senses, he was confused and frightened. What was happening? He wasn't anyone special - he wasn't anyone. He'd barely even thought as he went about his duty at the boutique, he had no family, no friends to speak of. What was going on? The box he'd brought with him, which he'd never seen before, had guns and ammunition inside it; he clapped it shut quickly, startled, but the sight of them stirred something in his mind, and he didn't turn back...
