- A "count" is an individual act or instance. Normally, in Maryland State Law, multiple counts are merged together on the docket and the defense is only charged with a single count of each crime; the judge accounts for multiple acts with the severity of the punishment, should the defendant be found guilty. However, Maryland has no code to account for "mass" crimes, along the scale or Reagan's, so listing them individually this way allows for a greater punishment.
- If found guilty of all counts of all three crimes, Reagan will face no fewer than 4,500 years in jail and no more than 21,000. He will be elligible for parole in 1/4 the time he's sentenced for*.
- Reagan could also (or instead) be forced to pay the State up to $20 million.
