Sudden death of Robert and Emily Stevens

The candle light flickered off the mother of pearl brush as Emily Stevens ran it through her long blonde hair. She stared vacantly into the mirror as she did every night brushing her hair before bed. One stroke, and then another stroke of the brush making sure that every strand was in place.

A sudden wind came up against the house and blew open the window, causing a startling bang as the window flew open. Emily jumped up and ran over to the window shutting it slowly, peering outside. Unknowingly this was going to be her last action as a hand moved through the mirror, stretching and opening it like a portal, and out crawled a shimmering massive reflective monster.

Emily looked about outside and then locked the window tightly, closing the curtains and then turned seeing her reflection so close to her, she was startled, and then dead as the huge creature took its massive claw into the air and sliced her from head to toe. Fingertips sharp as diamonds ripping through the poor woman’s fragile body, tearing flesh and bone and killing her instantly.

The bedroom door opened and in walked Robert Stevens hearing just the scream of Emily, thinking that she had scared herself with her own reflection again. Seeing his love lying in a pool of blood and then his reflection in the shimmering beast, he screamed as well, dropping the mug of tea he had made for her, and bolting through the door.

The creature screeched loudly, and then reached down and grabbed the small shard of metal hanging from a drop of gold around Emily's neck. Turning towards the miror and leaped into it disappearing into the great beyond from where it came from.

Robert tripped and fell upon the hard wood floor trying to gather his thoughts and wits as he looked for anything to kill the beast. His spin crawled as he heard the creature screech, a sound so unholy that Robert started to cry loudly. Sobs coming from his lips as he thought of his beautiful wife laying in a pool of blood.

Standing up he walked over to the huge mirror peering into the reflection, seeing tear stained eyes looking back at him. Emotions overcame him again as he put his head into his hands and fell to his knees before the full length mirror, sobbing deeply, reflecting upon the events of the last couple years.

A silent movement in the mirror caught no ones attention as arms slowly started to come out of the mirror before Robert. Then a face started to press against the surface and then a torso. Reaching down the creature grabbed Robert’s head and twisted violently, breaking his neck in one quick motion.

Roberts body grew limp immediately, his last thoughts of his beautiful wife, holding their only son in bed the day he was born, and the happiness that gave him, looking forward to seeing them both again real soon.
