Chi Conditions[edit]

Mark of the Scavenger (Corrupt Chi Deviation)[edit]

  • Lin looks sickly and pale, and tends to be followed around by ravens - and occasionally other scavengers - who gather in greater numbers the longer she stays in one place.

'Natural State' Conditions[edit]

  • Water Curse (Action Bonus) - this insidious Curse comes from the fear of the Raven Scholars being forgotten, their mission irrelevant. Lin sees it as a manifestation of will from her ancestors, but it also might come from herself. It causes her to be separated from normal life and normal feelings, remaining dedicated to her mission. The clearest manifestation of this is her seeping heart wound, symbolic of the joy and happiness that can not be hers. As long as she willingly separates herself from happiness and the comforts of others (sometimes through eerie happenstance), making a big deal of her creepiness and inability to love, she gets an Action Bonus. [Recovery 40/Interval 1 Story/Duration 1]
  • Balance Inspiration (Breath Bonus) - Lin is driven to fulfill the ambitions of her lost Sect, and work to remove the still pools of corruption from the face of Shen Zhou. This gives her a Breath Bonus when she fulfills the mission of the virtuous to strike against the corrupt (which might make for some seeminy terrible deeds in the interim). [Recovery 40/Interval 1 Story/ Duration 1]

Laughs At: Chasing Songbird specializes in attacking mobile opponents; their ability to maneuver is inherently inferior and they open up many weaknesses. Like songbirds, this style prefers to stay airborne or in high places, and thus laughs at anyone that follows them to their domain. Finally, it laughs at any opponent who is being mobbed by multiple allies.

Fears: There is nothing the Chasing Songbird fears more than stationary opponents, who wait for the songbird to come to them: a trap that the songbird may not be able to resist. They also fear constricted spaces, where they cannot ascend to the heavens or use their mobility to their best advantage. Likewise they fear having their choices and movement restricted in general, for they are at a loss if they cannot attack from their preferred directions.

Loresheets[edit]

Dancing Red Demon (free)[edit]

Vile Rain Cult Legend (free; 3E total)[edit]

  • "You Witnessed Their Rites!"
    • 0 Bonus: Once per chapter, you may ignore a Fears penalty when facing a Vile Rain Cult opponent; this lasts for one scene or one combat. You should describe yourself as drawing on something you witnessed in order to withstand the otherwise discomfiting opposition.
    • 5 Fortune: You recognized one of the celebrants! You may not know the face or name exactly, but you've got some kind of identifying mark to go on. What you do with this information is up to you, but this is very dangerous knowledge ... to somebody. The cost of this option is relative to the prominence of the person you recognized.
      • -2: You were recognized in turn. You made yourself an enemy who is very motivated to keep you silent.

The Small Schools: Raven Scholars (3E; 15E total)[edit]

  • 5 Status: Last of the Raven Scholars
    • 0 Bonus: Daoism at -2 cost
    • 0 Disadvantage: Heretic Daoist
  • 2 Secret: Harmonious All-Encompassing Notes Technique: adds music as a Tool for Daoist Magic (and also Art of Intrigue - perhaps possibly even for more Secret Arts, though this hasn't been explored by the Raven Scholars)
  • 3 Treasure: Seven Demon Strings, quality guqin (+5 Bonus when using the Tool of Music; incidentally, the ominous instrument also serves as a kung fu manual for the Thousand Venoms variant that Lin practices).
  • 2 Fortune/Location: The burned-out husk of the Raven School (as well as the preserved cult grounds below...)

Daoism (1E)[edit]

  • 0 Bonus: Spend Joss to get the benefit of basic necessities.

City of Perpetual Peace (free; 5E total)[edit]

Persiatown (free)[edit]

  • 3 Status: Urban legend/unlikely protector (Lin just so happened to step in to act against some overzelaous soldiers, which acted to the benefit of some marginalized people of Persiatown; a rumor grows, and presto. She tries not to care about such worldly things, but has unwittingly gotten both fans and enemies.)
  • 2 Fortune: Contacts - street people.

The Priest's Life in Perpetual Peace[edit]

  • "In the world, but not of the world"
  • 0 Bonus: Resist temptations - Once/chapter reduce severity of Passion/Inspiration by 1 step for one scene/combat.
  • 0 Bonus: +5 bonus for physical self-denial
