Hugo Raynes is a character from the Tales of the Jade Mantis. He is a crewmember aboard the Jade Mantis.

Description

After serving as a Browncoat in the Unification War Hugo Raynes had difficulties getting his life in order. He can fight, has an ace shot, but his temper and hatred of the Alliance create tensions an independent captain can't use. Serving on numerous ships, mostly as cook and strong arm, he seemed to have found a home on the Gadfly, a smuggling outfit. On a pickup mission in the fringes of space, the ship was attacked by Reavers. Hugo is tight lipped on how he managed to survive. Before joining the crew, he was stuck planetside, drinking his troubles away.
