Valerie Yasmine was a university professor specializing in neuroscience. When she began suffering from constant nightmares and episodes of sleep paralysis, she became concerned but chalked it up to overwork. When she began suffering hallucinations and delusions, she called a psychiatrist and began researching late onset schizophrenia. When she coughed up a lungful of car parts... She started looking further afield. The gang (Yellowjacket Greenapple Investigations?) eventually tracked down the Infrastructure causing the transformations --a device(egg/coccoon/larva?) built into the water tower of her apartment building. Before they could determine its function, the device self-destructed, leaving no answers, but halting whatever bizarre metamorphosis was affecting Professor Yasmine.
