The Fifth Dimension (Etheria)

A polar opposite to Xoriat that exists on all portions of the cosmos simultaneously yet distinct from both. The Fifth Dimension is the reason that the gods of Eberron are so far removed and distant from creation yet seemingly ever present in the universe as is known.

Visiting The Fifth Dimension

The Fifth Dimension is a dimension only physically accessible by climbing to the top of the floating sky mountain Celestia in plane of Syrania. Only by enduring absolutely tremendous Herculean efforts is it possible for a human being or Celestial to purge themselves totally of the various physical and mental strain necessary to physically visit the Fifth Dimension.

There are, reputedly, easier ways of visiting the 5th Dimension in spirit. The Silver Flame links directly to the 5th Dimension and a person who bodily casts themselves into the Flame of Flame Keep or simply dies is allowed to become one with the spirits here. Human beings directly associated with the Sovereign Host who purge themselves of all want in The Gray Wastes can fade away to join this realm as well. Likewise, it is reputed that souls that the Keeper's Vault that purge themselves of all their crimes and repent can also transcend to this place.

The truth of any of these methods is debatable.

The Watchmen are amongst the only mortals whom have ever been involved in a Manifest Zone of the Fifth Dimension when the arrival of Fenric resulted in a brief Manifest Zone to this Realm (and nearly opened one to Xoriat). The experience is reputed to be a profoundly transcendental one where many individuals felt themselves becoming part of a far greater whole.

Description of the Fifth Dimension

The 5th Dimension is a place of pure ideas and concepts that transcend physical space and time. It is a place where the entities thereof are linked with all matter and space in the cosmos and draw their energy thereof from the reality. The place is one that's entirely transcendental in nature that to describe it in physical terms is really an exercise in futility. Instead, it is defined entirely in abstract and metaphorical terms rather than regular ones. Visitors would shape this reality by their own experiences and concepts.

Inhabitants of the Fifth Dimension

The physical forms, such as they are, of the Sovereign Host exist in the 5th Dimension. Likewise, so do all of the Dark Seven and the Spirit of the Silver Flame. The spirit of Il-Yannah the Eternal Light was driven from the dimension of Dal Quor by the Dreaming Dark and currently resides in the Fifth Dimension. It is likely that the Overgods of other Multiverses inhabit their own versions of the 5th Dimension with beings like Ao residing on them.

The physical form of Bahamut also exists here while Tiamat's lies in the Far Realm.

Karin, as the only Animal Lord to have recalled her true nature, is the only one who can project herself to this Realm. Though is possible that Herne and God Usagi might well now possess the ability themselves. It is this realm that the Watchmen's holographic imager briefly reproduced the effects of by recording its interaction with Pre-Siberys death Syrania from 10,000,000 years in the past.

Relationship to Syrania

The angels of Syrania have very little contact with the gods themselves and instead communicate with them through dreams or visions. Archangels are the exception as the Archangels of Syrannia are linked to some portion of the Sovereign Host's power and receive a constant vague stream of the gods will.

The Syrania angels bring many spirits from Dolurrh as a matter of course to Mount Celestia and send them up its sides in hopes they may join the spirits of the Realm. This is viewed as a purging process but the human spirits tend to mistake the Mountain, touched by the Fifth Dimension's power, as a kind of Heavenly reward.

Pyriel's servants are a source of constant conflict and contention amongst the angels as his ascension seems to have repudiated long held contentions against him.

Relationship to Xoriat

The 5th Dimension is at the exact opposite of the spectrum from Xoriat in that both Realms are literally removed from standard D&D cosmology. The "True Xoriat" is different from the realm where the Rajahs and Daelkyr are spawned from in that is merely where the True Xoriat's essence touches the Outer Planes (known as "The Abyss" in standard D&D cosmology). The two planes are exact opposites and are effectively fundamentally opposed essences in the cosmos.
