Background[edit]


The Kid walks the path at his own pace. Sometimes you just gotta stop and smell the flowers.

Honeysuckle. Now isn’t that sweet? Reminds the kid that he’s put the past behind, that even blood washes away.

He smells another one, but you know what they say about flowers and memories. No matter how far, you walk, you can’t outrun that, can’t outrun a regret. Sorry, Kid.

The Kid’s got a heart full to bursting. He’s in love, like only a kid can be. It’s a crying shame, is what it is.

He reckons he’s said all he needs to say. Wasted all the good words, back when they couldn’t have mattered. There just ain’t no more left in him.

Folks think he’s sort of eerie; silent things usually are. The Kid don’t pay no mind.

He knows where he’s from. He can’t go back; it would hurt too much... hurt too many folks. But the Kid knows.

You see, the Kid’s got a hex on him. Some no good magic, the kind that Gods put on ya’. The Kid doesn’t care; he’s done with fighting.

Too bad fighting’s not done with him. Seems he’s got a whole mess of trouble out there, looking for him. They call themselves The Orchestra, but they don’t play music, well, not the kind of music you or I might enjoy.

Lucky for him, he’s got his trusty cat. They say a cat’s more spirit than beast, and this one isn’t one to argue. Ghosts from your past don’t usually make good pets, but the Kid and the Cat have an agreement. Saves money on kibble, at least.

The Kid is done killing. Lucky for him, he’s thrown in his lot with folks who feel the same way. Doesn’t mean they’re good folks, though. No sir.

The Kid looks up. The wind’s changin’. Time to keep walkin’ the path.
