Marchessa of Hope

Rainbow with pot of blood

She looks like a cheerful teenage girl. Pretty but not unusually so. Her most notable feature is her radiant smile. Her greetings seem to be invitations to her soul, as if she feels that you are destined to know her well. A friend she just hasn't met yet. Her whole manner reinforces this, her hopefulness radiating off her in waves.

Attributes[edit]

Aspect 0[edit]

Of Mortal Form. 5/5 Aspect Miracle Points

Her body is the blond haired, brown eyed, white bread American, body she started out with, the forces of Nobility have yet to change it much. Pretty and healthy but not unusually so.

I have 0 Aspect. That means I perform Level 0 and under Aspect Miracles for 0 MP. I perform Level 1 Miracles for 1 MP, I perform Level 2 Miracles for 2 MP, I perform level 3 or 4 Miracles for 4 Miracle Points and I can perform level 5 through Level 9 Miracles as a Word of Command which costs 8 MP.

Domain 3[edit]

Marchessa 5/5 Domain Miracle Points

Hope is that which endures. The expectation that the world will stand aside and give you what you need. Hope is a fragile thing. Often crushed by events, rendered into bitter regret or acidic sorrow. Hopes are not certain, or known. They are grasps at what is now out of reach. A hope that is certain, for something already attained, is not a hope at all. Hope is not strength, mere hope gives only the chance, only sets the course. It is the hopeful's task to see it through. It is the keystone of tragedy as well as triumph. And yet with out hope, the smallest obstacles become unscaleable walls.

Correspondences: Risk, Utopias, tragedy?

I have 3 Domain. That means I perform Level 3 and under Miracles for 0 MP. I perform Level 4 Miracles for 1 MP, I perform Level 5 Miracles for 2 MP, I perform level 6 or 7 Miracles for 4 Miracle Points and I can perform level 8 through Level 9 Miracles as a Word of Command which costs 8 MP.

Realm 0[edit]

Citizen 5/5 Realm Miracle Points

Short description of your Character' role in the Chancel (I know, you don't have one yet) and why she has this level of Realm. It should include the "stink of Nobility" description inherent to this Attribute.

I have 0 Realm. That means I perform Level 0 Miracles for 0 MP. I perform Level 1 Miracles for 1 MP, I perform Level 2 Miracles for 2 MP, I perform level 3 or 4 Miracles for 4 Miracle Points and I can perform level 5 through Level 9 Miracles as a Word of Command which costs 8 MP.

Spirit 4[edit]

Conflagration 5/5 Spirit Miracle Points

There is a deep harmony between her mortal mind and her noble shard, both have become subtly twisted, unnatural but fitting, like two trees growing against each other. Her spirit shouts out her nature to the world, warming at first, but then with more time it continues to pour, until it is an burning, painful thing. Hope is beautiful, necessary thing but it is also an fearsome and dangerous thing. It is not for nothing that she is named after the messenger of God.

I have 4 Spirit That means I can have 5 anchors. My Auctoritas raises the level of all Miracles cast against me by 4 Miracle Levels. I only have to perform the Rite of Holy Fire every 6 months, and it protects against all non-miraculous actions with lethality equal to or greater than Natural Weapons. With the Rite of the Last Trump I can convert 2 MP of any type into 1 MP of any other.

Affiliation[edit]

The Code of the Wild.

1) Freedom is the Highest Principle

2) Sanity and Mundanity are Prisons

3) Give in kind with a gift received.

The wild calls to Gabriel. Singing its green song. She lives her life to sing her own faint note in harmony and dissonance. Her personal freedom is what she values most, but reciprocity and hope both call to her to hope that all freedoms can be resolved, that yours freedom to swing your fist need not stop at my nose. She doesn't know how to do that, but she has hope.

Sanity and Mundanity are poisons that sap strength. When the universe says die is when true Hope blossoms like a flower in the desert. Or an lilly on sewage.

Gifts she understands least well of it's song, but feels their import too. The way they pull at the threads of fate.

She also admires the codes of the Light and Dark, because they en-body such grand hopes for the future.

(Okay this is the part of the character I am least sure of..can I get a chance to see how she plays and then maybe recon this section? The other option I am thinking of is the Dark. Or possibly of both the Dark and the Light.)

Virtue: Hopeful[edit]

She can not be made to give up, to say die, even at the darkest most horrendous tragedy she hopes still that everything will turn out okay, still smiles into the night. In any situation she knows the act that preserves, that looks to the stars and shoots for above the sun. No Miracle or effect can make her see the worse case, or despair of the best. By spending 1 SMP she can make this virtue obvious to everyone around her for the remainder of the scene. When ever this virtue lands her in dire trouble she regains 1 MP.

Bonds[edit]

6 The sanctity of her estate.

4 The freedom of individual humans.

4 The freedom of the human race.

2 Honesty as the best policy.

1 The Chancel.

1 Her sister.

1 Her father.

1 Her mother's memory.

History[edit]

Gabriel's history is one of almost fractal tragedy, through which she has seemed to somehow float, unharmed. She has done well at school, never getting the attention of the authorities in any way, and yet around her suicide and accidents seem to collect. Her first grade teacher. The bakery where she bought a coffee and donut every day for an year. Her sister. Her mother. The death of an entire family across town. The strange happenings at the church she went to.

If one were to search through the town's newspapers you would find her in the background of almost every tragic event to take place there during her life. From the baby theft that happened the day she was born. To the arson of the school gym a few weeks ago.

Her father worked at an local insurance company, a good hour away by car. Her mother worked as an veterinarian. There’s more then one tragic story here, but her fathers near constant but ineffective suicides, and her mothers one time but successful one top the charts.

Personality[edit]

Her personality is almost over whelmed by her virtue. She is Hopeful. Cheerful and kind to a fault. She makes an effort to get to know people, to try and help each and every one. She is not a passive person, preferring to go out among the world. To breathe in the joys of the world and save it from its self. She is flamboyant but also subtle. There is among her brash declarations and wild fervent acts, a quiet certitude, a dark clawing at fate it self.

Design[edit]

Queen Ann's Lace for her estate, crossed with a sprig of blooming wheat for her self.
