Background:

Omen (Xander Corvax) is the son of the Doomstrider, God-Empress of the Endless Empire. In the 31st century, she does something so terrible it will break time and space, erasing everything that ever existed. When Omen finds out about this, he sends himself back in time in order to stop it.

At this point, his mother has not yet become the Doomstrider, although she has joined the Umbra Synod and started on the path that leads her to Omen’s future. She is still Constance Corvax, a human adventurer who received immortality and cosmic power as a result of a “reality storm” that happened while she was on board an international space station. She was a wandering hero who explored the cosmos looking for new sights to see, helping people in trouble along the way, until...something happened. She’s never told Omen what happened, but he knows that after it happened, she joined the Umbra Synod, and that put her on the road to becoming the one who would erase existence centuries later.

Omen knows that once his mother takes up the mantle of Doomstrider, it’s too late to change things. But his memories of what else he learned about it are fuzzy and distorted. He can’t trust any of it, so he has to find out for himself by living it. The one thing he is sure of is that this group plays a pivotal role in the events that push his mother over the edge. In order to save everyone, he has to keep his mother from becoming Doomstrider.

Chargen Questions:

Q: Has Omen approached his mother yet or is he waiting to make that attempt (in which case it probably happens during the INCITING INCIDENT)?

A: Omen has not approached his mother yet. He is terrified that if he approaches her before he learns what actually led up to the incident, he risks botching his attempt to change history. Ideally, he would get through this without his mom ever knowing that he was there, because he's not sure whether he will disappear once the timeline is altered.

Q: Does Omen know who his father is?

A: He doesn't. Since he's from 1000 years in the future, if his dad is around in the present day, he must also be extremely long-lived. His mom has been very close-lipped about this. Whenever she brings it up, she is the most uncomfortable he has ever seen her. Omen gets the sense that she is somehow ashamed of what happened, but never ashamed of Omen himself. For an all-conquering God-Empress, she can be surprisingly tender to her son, which is one of the reasons Omen thinks that the timeline can be saved.

Q: There is someone you left behind in the future. If all goes according to plan they might never even exist again. Who was it? Did you let them know you felt?

A: Omen left behind Shandra Serafima. his protector/training partner. Shandra is Omen's age, and is the daughter of one of his mother's highest ranking generals. If Omen is being groomed to become emperor, then Shandra is being groomed to serve as his right hand. Except...maybe there's a little more there than a formal relationship? When Shandra arrived, she was as hard-nosed and driven as her father, with the kind of juvenile mean streak that could turn into full-on viciousness. But being around Omen softened that quite a bit. He told her what he was going to do, and he told her how he felt about her, but Shandra protested. Omen was forced to trick her by complying with her plea not to go, then knocking her unconscious when her back was turned.

When our team first fled the Umbra Synod:

Q: The history books say the Synod was meeting to accomplish some nefarious goal... but we changed that. What was it?

A: The Synod were meeting to plan the overthrow of The Forge of Virtue, a living Cyber-Planet that consumes "degenerate" worlds and spits them back out as cathedral fleets and cyber-angelic servitors. It then goes on to find new worlds to convert. The FoV is more powerful than any of the Umbra Synod individually, which is why they are teaming up. We broke up the meeting in such a way that the Synod cannot take further action on this plan without that entity becoming suspicious.
