The Stars Are Right: The Irish Rose: Letter14
Dear Mom and Dad,
Hello.
Sorry it has been so long since I last wrote, but there’s been a lot going on! Work has been going very well. I’m actually getting ready to leave on a business trip to Europe, which is pretty exciting! I know, I know. You guys aren’t big fans of the Europeans. Still, I think it is a pretty neat opportunity.
Before you ask, Mom, you still don’t have any grandchildren. I’m still young, though! When I meet that certain special someone, I’ll bring her to visit you guys, have no fear.
Work permitting, I’m thinking about moving on from Detroit. I don’t know what you get for news out there, but I have to say, the place is a cesspool of crime. I guess that's one of the downsides of city life.
I’ve been keeping my nose clean, since I last wrote. No fights or altercations with the law to speak of. I did break some ribs and dislocate my shoulder boxing, but that’ll happen. No permanent damage done.
As I mentioned, work has been going well, and I have received a nice raise and a bonus. I’ve enclosed a check for $250 that I hope can help you guys out around the farm. Even out here, I know that times are tough for farmers.
I want you both to know that I’m still trying to do the right thing, to make you guys proud of me.
I’ll write again as soon as I have more news to report.
Love,
Vic
