Soldiers and police officers are particularly likely to study martial arts, especially Taekwondo, Karate, Jujutsu, Brazilian Jujutsu, Kick Boxing, Judo, Hapkido, and Muay Thai. Few soldiers or police know about the Kung Fu War, though many police are growing aware of the menace of martial arts gangs on American streets. Soldiers and cops with Trained by a Master are often, though not always, better informed. Many of those with Trained by a Master turn Vigilante, though the crooked ones prefer to side with the Five Venoms, or even the Maniac Warrior Empire. Masters of Taekwondo or Hapkido are often Circle of Iron members, while many Karate masters dedicate themselves to the Karate Wars, and many masters of Judo and Jujutsu have gone Ronin. Some soldiers and police officers have taken to fighting in the IFF, seeking money and glory they could never find in their day jobs.

Many Praying Mantis stylists join the police force, and both Praying Mantis and Hsing I Chuan masters tend to serve in the army, and especially in special forces. This effectively gives the Shaolin well-embedded agents in the police, and both Shaolin and Wudang well-embedded agents in the military. Rumor says that the military and police hierarchies, like all government hierarchies, are riddled with Wushu agents.

Some conspiracies in the police, military and government are on nobody’s side but America’s. These secret groups work to protect the country from any and all martial arts threats. Refusing to ally with Wulin, Vigilantes, or any other group, they field their own martial arts special ops teams.
