Thearn wiki Champion Spell

According to Hayashi-sensei: "First,as some of you know, I received the Blue Star from the late Mother Zephriel. I have her powers, and also some of her knowledge...

"...That knowledge includes that of a powerful spell-- the Champion Spell. This is a spell that tranforms the user into a gigantic champion, a knight of tremendous power, using a deep magic that draws upon the power of all the stars.

"Having this spell cast on you requires a great deal of magic. Unfortunately, none of the Star Holders have enough, even know. The students who absorbed the Demon Officers, however, do. But there is a problem.

"The spell is inherently a spell of Thearn. None of you wields the magic of one of the stars-- and the Champion Spell can't function without that. And none of the Star Holders has enough magic to use the spell... but there is another solution. Eight of them, in fact.

"It would be possible for two users to combine their power, drawing on your own magic, and that of a Star Holder. When you activated the spell, you would gain powers relating to your own personal magics and also that star specifically.

"The Champion Spell is our only hope against the Demons, and it is in a very dangerous location. When the spell is found, it is likely to be guarded, so each of you needs to take a Star holder with you, so you can use the spell right away."

...There appear to be some misunderstandings about how the Champion Spell works. The problem is that your demonic powers will interfere with the spell and prevent it from working if your basic magic isn't channeled through one of the stars. To prevent that from happening, your normal powers will be suppressed while you assume the Champion form. You will instead have powers based on your underlying nature as a human, focussed through the Star you are using. As for the issues with combining two beings into one Champion... I'm not entirely sure. Azyria?"

The Empress nodded and stood.

"As nearly as I can determine, the consciousness of neither partner will be damaged-- or even suppressed. You will have two minds in one very large body, instead. The union is entirely reversible-- indeed, because of the incompatibility of your demonic natures and the Stars, you will probably not be able to sustain it for very long at first. Furthermore, the temporary nature of the union means that it will be entirely possible-- and, I have no doubt, desirable and necessary-- to change partners based on need and compatibility. Therefore, you may put aside your worries... Although if your concern is dying a virgin, perhaps having a conversation revealing one's blindly lecherous nature and sheer inexperience in a room full of potential partners isn't the best approach."

Ms. Hayashi was surely clearing her throat and not suppressing laughter at that last comment.

"...Getting the Champion Spell will not be easy. We will need to journey for a few days to the ruins of the Crystal City-- the home of the Serafin. We can expect to have to fight along the way, and there will surely be a greater battle yet when we obtain the spell-- we can assume we will need to use it right away.

"...However, we have also all just arrived in a strange, new world, and everyone has been through a great deal. Therefore, we will rest for a day or so before we head out. This will give everyone a chance to recover, a chance to adjust, and a chance to get to know their potential partners, and also the nature of their magic. And, as I understand it, a feast is being prepared, so we should all get ready to attend that. If there are any other questions, Azyria and I are right here."

"It is an ancient magic of a type that transcends the Eight Stars," said Azyria. "There are a very small number of them, and it's the only one that is known to still exist. The Serafin had custody of it in the Crystal City-- it was being kept against a day when it would be needed to defend Thearn itself. Which is today."

"From what Zephri... Hayashi and Azyria said, I do not think that it matters," said Tinatel. "Combined, in the Champion spell, your powers will not exist. It is merely a question of what you can do using the powers of one of the Stars." Reply With Quote
