Mac was station born and station raised in her initial pre-sleeved incarnation. She was always a small child and often left unattended for days, even weeks at a time. She learned to fend for herself, how to hustle, how to take advantage of the expectations of others for her own gain.
A station accident and a long standing, undiscovered identity hack resulted in her consciousness being uploaded that first time and someone else's credits financing her first sleeve, which she quickly turned around into a unique resleeve to avoid getting caught and erased or chucked in cold storage.
Due to cost constraints, Mac is mostly machine now, but the kind of machine that passes for bio if the only scan of her person is visual. The only thing she retains from her original life is the tattered teddy bear she carted everywhere as a child. Or so she claims.
She still carts it everywhere, even though she is now a gatecrasher with famous friends and an active mover in the black market. What no one knows is that the toy contains an anti personel grenade for emergency use, and that she has a whole cache of exact replicas to replace the one she is carrying as needed.
