Until last week, Alethea was a top student of Priest-Queen Felia of Seresya's Halls of Healing where she had specialised in occult maladies/possession. Her family did not have the same pedigree as those of her fellow students, which may explain why when a request came through for someone with her training, she found herself summarily planted on a thankfully mild-tempered mule and sent north. Given her cloistered and scholastic life 'til now it's something of a miracle that she made it to Smallford unmolested.
