Thomas Mogg[edit]

Background & Nationality[edit]

A dashing Rosson soldier-of-fortune freshly discharged (honorably! I swear!) after three years of valiant service in the Sixth Southern Legion, out on the road again in pursuit of adventure and romance.

Qualities[edit]

  • Master (+6) Swashbuckler
  • Expert (+4) Black Cat
  • Good (+2) Rodenzo (Sidekick)
  • Poor (-2) Jinx

Special Moves[edit]

  • Good (+2) Awesome Hat!

Miscellany[edit]

Thomas is a talking cat, a great black tom with singularly sharp green eyes and a deep voice as soft as his fur. He dresses quite flamboyantly in tall boots, a velvet cloak and a large plumed hat, all slightly different shades of red, and goes about armed with a stylishly plain rapier of fine Violan steel.

The character is mainly inspired by the Puss in Boots, as played by Antonio Banderas in Shrek 2, and Bagheera, the Panther, from Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, with a touch of Rocky from the wonderful webcomic Lackadaisy.

Swashbuckler is his profession, and covers things like dazzling swordplay, death-defying acrobatics, roguish wit and charm and a devil-may-care sort of indomitable bravery. Black Cat is what he is, with all the feline grace, cunning and agility that naturally implies, as well as keen senses, sharp claws and the unnerving (or perhaps dangerously alluring) air of bad luck made flesh. Rodenzo is his loyal servant and companion of many years, the Planchet to his d'Artagnan, the Jeeves to his Wooster (see below). Jinx is how people often see him, a bringer of bad luck to be shunned and mistrusted; in all honesty, things do tend to go ever so subtly pear-shaped when he's around, and while it's not actually his fault, as such, you still can't help but blame him for it, just a bit. Breaks his heart, it does. *sniff*

Associated with Swashbuckler is his special move Awesome Hat! The article in question is a huge, wide-brimmed thing of blood red felt of the highest quality, intricately laced with silver filigree all about the broad brim and the folds of the crown, adorned with a great billowing plume of snow-white feathers fixed with a golden buckle in the shape of a broken heart to a broad band braided of supple black leather and wrapped thrice around the tall crown. It's the most impressive hat you're ever likely to see; there is no crown more handsome in all of Zo, and no king more proud of his headwear than Tom is of his hat.

Rodenzo the Common Mouse[edit]

Qualities[edit]

  • Good (+2) Voice of Reason
  • Average (0) Faithful Lackey
  • Poor (-2) Unsurprisingly Small and Feeble for a Mouse

Miscellany[edit]

Always with Tom is his bootboy and manservant Rodenzo, a small white mouse in tiny red shoes and a smart crimson waistcoat. Tom saved his life one dinnertime, years back, and the little chap has followed him ever since. Voice of Reason is his blessed capacity for common sense and bringing the Master - as he calls Tom - back down to earth with some sage, if prosaic, commentary when the cavalier cat begins to believe his own tall tales (happens more often than he would ever admit). Faithful Lackey includes his loyalty to Tom and all the skills and abilities a good valet should possess... limited in some physical respects by the fact that he is, after all, quite Unsurprisingly Small and Feeble for a Mouse.
