Intro[edit]

Rebecca tappped her pencil on her desk. "So, that's what you were able to determine?"

Samantha nodded. "The Regent of the Chantry is willing to put his mark to the report. They are all Caitiff. We can not determine their parentage, at this time. Further, they are not your childer. They were all embraced in a one week period of time." Rebecca blew a black bang out of her face - a rather human habit. "Good. While it's within my right to embrace as Princess, going on a mad embracing spree in the course of a week would have been bad form."

She stands up, straightens her pencil skirt. "Show them in. For better or for worse, they're mine, now, and I shall make good use of them. The first lesson the chickadees will get are a few notes on fear."

New Background - Vessel[edit]

A variant of Herd, where the Kindred has access to a human whose blood has special effects on vampires, enabling them to, for a brief moment, feel again, and perhaps expanding their capabilities.

* - 1 single vessel who enables a Vampire to feel a certain emotion for one scene after having drunk at least 2 blood points, such as nostalgia, anger or fear. Vessels who illicit negative emotions are more common than uplifting feelings. Depending on the vampire's Virtue or Vice, 1 or 2 willpower points can be restored, if 2 points are drunk, or double that if 4 points are drained. Examples - local leader of a gang, bitter cop, woman you terrorize on the way home and then make her forget, down on their luck addict.

** - 1 single vessel who expands in a small way the Kindred's capabilities or enables the Kindred to feel a *positive* emotions for a scene. The Kindred must drink at least 2 blood points, or 4 points for double effect. Whether the feelings can restore willpower will depend on the vampire's Virtue or Vice. Alternatively, drinking at least 4 blood of a certain vessel can add +2 to skill rolls in one skill for 24 hours, as the vampire drinks traces of the Vessel's memory. Examples - Neighborhood priest who loves his community and works hard for the poor (Hope, Charity), champion MMA fighter (+2 Brawl), Amatuer Hacker (+2 Computer), young person experiencing love, intense artist.

*** - An extremely rare vessel, his or her blood provides 2 blood points per health level drunk. Alternatively, some vessels in this range are burning pyres of passion, who can restore *all* the Willpower of a Kindred of the right Virtue or Vice if 4 blood points are drunk, from an intense negative emotion (hatred, greed, selflish lust, etc.) Kindred fight secret wars over these kinds of people. Or, a vessel who, if, 4 blood points are drunk, grants the Kindred +1 to all rolls for one scene.

**** - A Vessel who, if Embraced, does *not* cost the Kindred a Willpower dot, so closely aligned the human's personality and passion is to the blood and undead longings of vampires from a particular clan or a particular nature. These vessels represent ideal Childer, and Vampires fight wars to gain these kinds of vessels or to keep them out of the hands of their rivals. Alternatively, Vessels at this rank, in addition to providing blood that counts as 2 blood points per 1 drank, also lowers for one scene the blood point costs for 1 Discipline by 1, if they are carrying the blood from that vessel in their system. Or, as *** above, but a vessel which fills the vampire with an intense positive emotion. Or, a Vessel whose blood adds +1 to all of a vampires rolls for one night.

***** - The rarest of Vessels whose blood sings in vampire veins like fire. Examples are blood that can make a vampire remember what it is to be human (add +2 dice to degeneration tests if 4 blood points are drunk), restore the vampire form with ease (heal 1 aggravated wound level per 3 blood points drunk, with no WP expenditure), or reduce by 1 the blood point costs for *all* Disciplines when carrying *only* this mortals blood.

A few caveats - (1) If Vessels are made to drink vampire blood at all, their blood loses it's special properties forever, instantly, although they are otherwise unharmed. (2) Obviously, if a Vessel is embraced, his blood is no longer human blood and is instead Vitae. (3) Purchasing one level higher for a particular kind of vessel doubles the number of vessels you have - so, having 4 vessels of violent punks who give an additional WP for Wrathful vampires would count as a level 3 Vessel. (4) Vessels who engender positive emotions will never trigger the various styles of Frenzy. Vessels who fill the vampire with negative emotions might, depending on the Kindred's Vice/Virtue/Nature and the prevailing circumstances.
