Vek and Alvah talk shapechanging

After a few days things seem to settle into some developing sense of order. On cold afternoon Vek in Thanta form is flying high out over the ocean with Alvah on his back. He turns and the head of the animal shifts to a upper body of Vek as the wings retain flying styles. "You've been working with Shape Change. You seem to have it but its still theoretical till you establish your three main forms. From them you can riff as needed, as I am doing now. Thanta is a common animal form but my main animal form is this. He shifts into the cat form and both of them start plummeting. “I think of the Animal form in three ways;Land form, water form, air form. My main one is the land form cat, as I am now. But the Water form I like is thi: He shape changes into a quickly falling shark.” “Its a good water form. But at the moment the Air form is most useful.” Shifting back into the Thanta.

Alvah raises a bit of an eyebrow as she sees a half Vek half Thanta, thinking it is a bit unsettling. Then when he shifts to his cat for she curses "FOR FUCK SAKE!!" She tries to turn herself in the air with her feet down that if she lands in the water at least she goes feet first and maybe only breaks her legs. Seeing him shift into a Thanta again she tries to manouver her way back to Vek. "You want to kill me?"

Alvah looks wide eyed at Vek she nods "yes! fuck sake, yes you had my full attention. You still do. "

"Now... Land animal... what form shall we practice> Is there a lamd animal you have in mind?

"In what way should i think? An animal that i am familiar with or one that i think is easiest? Or the first thing that pops up in my head?" She still looks a bit shaken up from the plummet down towards the ocean.

"Something your comfortable with. Paka is a Puma i gathered from stuff of chaos. its a shape i like, so its not a surprise my cat is something of a colorful puma.. Horses are too big a transition of mass for a beginner. Think hound, wolf, deer, something that moves fast. I hesitate to suggest it but jaguar might be a good quick transition for you but it has Azcala overtones, as does puma. a small bear. a dingo.. something that you can practice easily becomeing and can develop how to shift into it quickly.

"A fennec its a type of fox. I agree in steering clear from the Azcalan types. Fennecs are desert foxes. Fast. Though very small. Is that an idea?"

"It is, but they are fairly small. A quick shapechange into a primary form should be fast. Little change in size ratio. Now if you want a fennec in your size and weight, then its in line with it. Vek smiles, "Fort will like it..."

Alvah nods "Well your cat shape is bigger as well. so lets go for a bigger Fennec then, an Alvah sized Fennec. "

"My cat shape is the normal size of the animals common in chaos. Paka is the same though i made him from the Stuff of chaos."

"Well i do'nt know any Chaos kind of animals so i'll stick to the knowledge i have of the animals which are mostly from the shadow i grew up in. " Alvah chuckles "And with a cat form i just don't feel comfortable, perhaps i would grow a dislike of myself. " She winks to Vek. "I could never dislike you though. Even in cat form. But you want me to practice right? Being able to change fast. Can we please do that without plummeting towards certain death." She laughs while she says it.

Vek instructs, "Its not just a matter of knowing how. Its knowing how to do it quick. Say for example for some reason you got chased off that cliff? Sure, your air elemental might catch you but a few words in Kolbashic and its gone. " He shifts to a large vulture in purple feathers, " Shapechange needs to be quick, immediate. Sitting here, never having done it before, it might take you an hour to become a large vulture but it'll take 30 seconds to hit the ocean. Say you fall off a 10 story building? It'll take you less then 3 seconds to hit the pavement. So...For a flying form you need to shift fully in under 3 seconds. " "Say you are sleeping, weapon near you but not on you, and suddenly a tiger is attacking you in your bed. You can be sliced into shreds in seconds so you need to shift into a fighting for m in a second. You chaosian form is a fighting forms. Claws teeth, stinger, wings. something immediate and dangerous. We will craft that form. ITs called the Demon form or Chaosian form but what it really is is your physcial combat form. It need not be some beast you have seen. We will craft the types of attacks you want to deliver to a surprise attacker. 1 second. " "The animal form should be a fighter but it also should be a runner. Say your opponent in a first, sword to sword shifts into a large cheetah. He shifts in a second and runs. How do yu keep up with him? Spells? We've seen how fast spell frames can be wiped clean. Thrown knives? Running? And Amberite can run in a burst a 4 minute mile. Julian, Random, Shaz Far, Flora and a few Amberites who have taken the time to train at both speed and endurance running can run upwards of 40 miles per hoar for some time. A little faster in a burst. But a Cheetah can do 80 for short bursts and can settle into a 50 mph for distance. By the way, Galvar, the king's almost invisible bodyguard, comes of a race that does not walk, they run. Everywhere. And he is their best. You know all the long distance running you did at Rasak? The instructors on those runs are from the world Osric had Galvar on. Galvar can run 80 mph for days without stope. He has more practical endurance then any creature i ever heard of. The Cynasure Cheetah can run 60 mph for a hell of a long time. days. But its burst is almost 100 mph. I suggest we work on two animal forms. Fennec and Cynasure cheetah. And we get both down to 1 second of shift. Now it will take you an hour. " ""and lastly. A humanoid disguise. You are a short female. Lets pick a female a tad taller, beefier. You have an Azcalan look. Lets go for a Diagan look. Pale to the point of whiteness. Lets get this down to 3 seconds.." So here are our goals. 3 animal forms- Fennec, Cheetah, and a large bird. And eagle perhaps or a vulture. Under 3 seconds. A fighting form in under 1 second. A human form in 3 seconds. Becoming a fish is tricky. It requires developing a whole new system of breathing and circulation of oxygen. When we come to a water creature a mamael like a dolphin will be best. Under 10 seconds. Lastly, dear, I may not have a ring of compulsion on you but I will hound you till you flee my realm to make you reach those time goals. Knowing how to shift your form is incredibly useful but its hard, takes time, can wear you out, unless you have trained it as hard as any dance. So doubt me not. You will learn.

She leans in close and says in a playful voice. "You promise?" She then nods slowly "But i hear what you say. You are right. Shapechange is fun and all but useless if not capable to do it fast, i can train hard. I learned many dances and this may be a way more complicated one but i'll perfect it." She is silent for a moment her fingers in the purple feathers of Vek his vulture form. "Thank you for taking this time, i'll train hard. " "One thing to keep in mind is make both eyes the same colour... else it stands out anyway."

"Interesting.. Yes, a instant eye color change is good to have. But, having 2 different eye colors in your shaped form isn't bad. IN those emergencies, where you are being attacked, they know who you are probably. so keeping the eyes different would be ok. But any shift as a disguise would include eye color.

"Well yes, for fighting forms and such it wouldn't be needed. Was more thinking about the other human form. " Smiling a bit recalling her first tries of shapechanging with Dwynwen. "Still have to talk to Nur about the eye.... or well the reason why i have it. So when do you want to start? Or am i going to live in a constant state of attention for when I suddenly need to change?" Alvah leaning in on Vek she smiles "Why don't we seek Nur forst before he leaves again. And after that... you may hound me all you want untill i get the shifting down in seconds. "

"Sure i promise not to get angry and such. Though thay usually happens with talks with dad." When they have safely returned to the village or near it Alvah will go seek Nur. She first goes to look for him at his tent. If he is not there Alvah will ask around and let her elementals help search.
