Clarissa 'Claris' von Schwerz

Backstory: The Von Schwerz family is one of the few very long Noble liniages to consistently produce mages, with it being customary that at least one of new generation be sent to the Royal Veraltan Academy of Magic. However, current heads of the family Ashford von Schwerz and Camilla von Schwerz had twins.

The twins were born with different magical talents, which was unusual, as due to Ashford having the family magic Libromancy while Camilla was a magicless noble, which meant that usually only one child got power or potentially both twins had the same magic. In this case, the son Azrael enherited Libromancy as normal, but as for Clarissa she got an entirely new magic power in Spatial Magic. While Azrael (or Azel for short) was not lacking in skill, he had found himself completely overshadowed by his sister Clarissa (or Claris for short). Not only did she seem to posses a natural knack for learning, but also a strage type of magic that allowed her to control space to do things like teleport or store and release seemingly endless amount of objects.

All of that came to a head when Claris, out of boredom due to lack of any new reading material decided to mess around in the estate's treasury. There she came across an interesting item and when she touched it she found herself warped away. Trapped in a weird white void, for the first timein her life Claris had no idea what to do. However, after several hours of sitting there in silence she had decided to try to use the item again. Thistime,through focussing hermagic through the object she was able to return home, right in front of her parents at that.

Turns out the object was a family heirloom known as 'Clé de l'Enfer', it was part of the family's treasury for a long time, yet outside of seemingly not rusting it appeared to just be a fancy chunk of metal. However, it seemed that it was somehow connected to Claris's magical ability. Since Claris was the only one who seemed to be able to use it she was allowed to keep it. Still got a stern talking to about messing with artifacts she didn't know anything about and got grounded for a month, unfortunately for her. Since then she has not been able to use 'Clé de l'Enfer' like this again.

Personality: Claris is a person who thinks very highly of herself, in her expert opinion she is pretty much the best in her general age group and beyond, only stopping due to her age and the fact that she still only a noble. And while that amount of sheer ego places her abover everyone else (in her mind at least), it also means that from her point of view that there are many more people who need help.

Claris genuinly believes that part of her noble duties is protecting those below her, so her great talent means that her duties have increased to match. It is how humanity grows, with great leaders who lead those lesser then them to victory.

Claris is the friendly sort, making friends easily with seemingly natural charisma, through she can come off as a bit dispariging or insensitive with how often she talks of her own greatness. She enjoys a good competition, through since she has mostly won those so far, reactions to losing are not consistent enough just yet. She also enjoys finding out new things, mostly because she wants to find something interesting in there and gets bored if it's more of the same.

Despite that, deep inside Claris hides a fear that she is only appriciated when she either showcases her genius, when she helps the lower class (or well, helps anyone) for nothing in return or as a connection to her extremely rich family and as such often tries to show off due to the fear of being abandoned and hated.

Relationships:
The von Schwerz Estate D8 - Claris's parents, Ashford von Schwerz and Camilla von Schwerz, posses a long noble history behind them. While the Von Schwerz's have never been against marrying in with magic born commoners, it is notable that the same magical ability of Libromancy (the ability to draw power from books) has been in the family for several generations (through marrying commoners still happens, sometimes for the sake of caution). While Azel did inherit Libromancy from his father (as far as everyone's aware, Camilla did not posses a talent for any magic) while Claris recieved something unrecorded within the family, her Spatial Magic. While this was ignored at first as just one of those weird things that hapens with magic, after all, what seemed more important was their daughter's natural brilliance and skill. Through when Claris turned out to be able to use 'Clé de l'Enfer', it did raise their concern a bit, but not too much. To be honest they have more problems with how giving Claris can be to those she considers below herself (which is a large amount in her eyes), through they mostly do so by urging her to be a little bit more selfish.

Sabrina the maid D6 - A commoner from a rather poor family that happened to live around an area Claris liked coming to. They met when they were about 14-16 or so and a friendship was quickly struck (it helped that Claris was rather generous with letting her read all sort of books her parents gave her). Sabrina was a curious sort of girl, but her poor family couldn't really afford that many books. This went on for a couple of years, when suddenly Claris decided to give the girlan offer. She'd be her personal maid and in exchange she'd let her freely use her personal collection of books (assuming Claris wasn't reading it at the moment), plus all the usual benefits (and free glasses). Overjoyed at being able to support her desire for knowledge while still helping her family she accepted. She doesn't have as much experiance as the other maids (in fact she has screwed up on multiple occasions), but she has heart, even if she's a bit shy.

Levis ze Phantasia D6 - The Phantasia family has long been allies of the Von Schwerz family, through they are far more ordinary as far as nobles are concerned. Levis is the only son of the current heads of family and has been friends with Claris and Azel as far back as 6 or 7 years old. He has fire magic from his commoner mother. His personality is typical of a noble, perhaps a bit friendlier than most. Levis was a very skilled kid, tought from a young age by several tutors before even thinking of the academy, as opposed to the (mostly) self-tought Claris. In fact, that diferenceis what started their rivalry, as Levis strives to prove himself Claris's better despite her seemingly natural aptitude for most things. Through it's a friendly rivalry and he's only slightly bitter about how his parents sometimes look at Claris and her talent.
