Wisrtum:Supported and Unsupported Systems

From RPGnet
Jump to: navigation, search

The goal of Wisrtum is to be as available as campaign setting for as many RPG systems as possible. However, this can only be done if enough people support porting the material to various game systems. This is because no one person is an expert an every RPG system currently (or formerly) on the market.

Supported Systems[edit]

FUDGE[edit]

FUDGE has one of the most freely availabe systems out there. It is freeform, wide-open and has many dedicated players. The only ketch is it's so wide open, that not even the wound-traking system, or the Attributes are set in stone. As such, certain things will have to be agreed upon by community consenus regarding the rules Fudge rules that are assumed to be in use. For a more complete treatment on this subject, see: FUDGE Standards.

GURPS[edit]

GURPS is one of the most flexable systems in existence, however it is also densely laden with rules. The GURPS system is one of the more popular game systems in existence, however it is not open like Fudge and others. However, fan-based material, within the constraints of Steve Jackson Games online policy, are encouraged. A copy of the SJ-Games online policy is convieniently at the top of the GURPS Category page.

SRD 3.5[edit]

The SRD 3.5 is a class-based system, produced by Wizards of the Coast is perhaps the most popular these days. The SRD is freely avilable as Open Game Content. Contributors are free to use this system, but should do so in a manner that reflects existing policy, as the OGL and the d20 System Trademark License are not the same thing.

Unsupported Systems[edit]

Dominion Rules[edit]

The Dominion Rules System was a classless, d12 based system. It was best described as rules medium, and focused on subduing an opponent rather than killing him outright. The Dominion Rules system was a freely available system, but it required that all content created for the system use the Dominion Rulese license uniformly. That is, sections of a work could not be licensed one way, and others another. That makes supporting it in a wiki enviornment virtually impossible. Sadly, the Domain Name http://www.dominiongames.com appears to have expired and is pending renewal or deletion by Network Solutions, making retreval of existing content impossible as well.

Systems Without Maintainers[edit]

No one is an expert in every game system out on the market. Not no one can keep up with all the rules. So each system needs one or more maintainers that are familiar with the system and can audit entries for them. This helps keep the quality level up for material ported to each of the systems.

Circe[edit]

Circe is a classless role playing game system, that has been released under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License. It is not complete, however what rules exist have been posted at http://www.worldforge.org/dev/content/rules/circe/. Anyone currently or in the past has Game Mastered for this system, is welcome to volunteer to maintain Wisrtum ports to this system. We'd love to support it — but we need you.
