==Backgrounds== ===Cult (**)=== "Cecelyne's Lady watches..." A slowly growing number of the populace of Terminal City know that turn of phrase. A strange language that most are unfamiliar with has started showing up in the graffiti near patches of silver sand that mysteriously appear overnight. A couple of college professors are tracking the strange graffiti, which is vaguely reminiscent of ancient Mayan, but have not yet put together its appearance with the wide patch of sand they trudged past. Except for one or two, and they mask their knowledge behind a mask of bafflement. They know exactly what it says, for in at least one instance, they wrote it there. "Cecelyne's Lady watches..." Darkness and corruption of the City allows the cult to spread like wildfire, for it teaches hope, which is something that most of the people in the City only know of as the hope to move somewhere better. The Cult teaches that 'even a bent and broken sword can be reforged into something bright and shining', and that 'the Lady watches over us because we belong to her'. "Cecelyne's Lady watches..." On the Line, there are a few homes where people have knocked down their common back fences, choosing to instead cover their backyards in silver sand, ostensibly for the kids to play in. On the Belt, one of the more upscale nightclubs hired a contractor to change the landscaping from lush palms to silver sand. In Old Town, near the park, a small garden is slowly swallowed by silver sand. Even as far away as the suburbs and as close as the Docklands, there are patches of silver sand that spring up overnight and as far as the locals are concerned, have always been there. Always the silver sand heralds the same piece of graffiti somewhere nearby. "Cecelyne's Lady watches..." ===Influence (*)=== *Having members of her cult throughout the city pays many dividends, from hiding places when necessary to food when she feels like eating... ===Backing (*)=== *The Lady has the backing of her patron in Malfeas, although that tends to not do her much good on Earth... ===Unwoven Coadjutator (*****)=== *Agatae-Two Dice Bonus to all Perception Rolls, 4 dice bonus to Join Battle rolls, one free demon-related specialty (Performance-Prayers to Cecelyne), 2 die bonus to all Social rolls against demons and Yozi cultists, can sense Yozi cultists unfailingly ===Sifu (*)=== *Her Coadjutator knows a fair amount of things related to Infernal Items, Charms, and Martial Art stylings. (Can teach the Lady only. Knows Black Claw, Infernal Monster, Laughing Imp, and Hellfire Ballet styles, but is sworn only to teach the Lady one style at a time until she masters it. Currently working on Infernal Monster.[This way,she can't learn any Sidereal styles or any non-Infernal origin Celestial styles without finding another teacher...]) ===Demonic Familiar (***)=== * A gift from her lady, the Agatae does not question her mistress's commands. Surprisingly, for being a beautiful version of a giant wasp demon, her English is flawless with a slight trace of a British accent. ===Artifact (****)=== Perfected Kata Bracers, made of Corrupted Starmetal The strips’ sutras are starmetal engravings, except in starmetal bracers—they use orichalcum. Attunement costs eight motes. When the character activates a Form-type Charm, the sutras inscribed on the bracers glow and lift from the artifact to engulf the character in light for a brief moment. However, when tainted with vitriol and chalcanth from an apporpriate demon, this tarnished bracers become useful in the highest degree to those who practice Infernal Monster style.... For the rest of the scene, she gains several benefits: She adds her Essence to the accuracy, damage and defense of her unarmed attacks and of attacks made with the active Form-type Charm’s particular weapons. She may choose to inflict bashing or lethal damage at will and she may parry lethal attacks unarmed. In addition, Starmetal eases the flow of martial Essence, reducing the cost of activating Charms of the same style by two motes (minimum 1). ===Artifact (***)=== Corrupted Starmetal Emerald Spider Gauntlets These gauntlets are forged of articulated starmetal alloyed with green iron and inlaid with swirls of jet and gold filigree. Gently twitching spines jut from each knuckle, while the unnaturally long fingers—seemingly too slender to accommodate the wearer’s hands—are tipped with barbs. By expending two motes as a reflexive action, the bearer induces the gauntlets to ooze a brilliantly hued green venom for the rest of the scene. Attuning a pair of emerald spider gauntlets costs six motes of Essence. These particular gauntlets were made for the Lady with a heavy alloying of corrupted starmetal, allowing her to strike devastating blows with the ease of dancing... Punch: Speed 5, Accuracy +1, Damage +6L(+ poison*), Defense +2, Rate 2, Minimums Str •, Tags M, P Clinch: Speed 6, Accuracy +1, Damage +7L(+ poison*), Defense —, Rate 1, Minimums Str •, Tags C, M, P * Poison: Damage 5L, Toxicity 3, Tolerance —/—, Penalty -3
